Hands down best Iraq food in IE. It seemed like half of it had some ingredients on the side for customers to buy and a full restaurant with a diverse menu. I got a combo plate with chicken and beef. I recently discovered this spot, even though I've lived on this side of Riverside for over a year--it's easy to miss since it's tucked into a small strip mall. I ordered takeout because I wanted to sample a variety of items. I tried the lamb, beef kebab, falafel, and a side of baba ganoush. My fiancé ordered the pinto stew and a fattoush salad. Their staff was very friendly and courteous upon arriving. The quality of the food was solid overall, but both my kebab and lamb were noticeably overcooked. Everything was also surprisingly bland--I actually added garlic salt to my leftovers the next day. The salads didn't have much flavor either, and my fiancé didn't finish hers. I was disappointed, but I'm keeping in mind that I ordered takeout and I only live five minutes away, so the experience might be better when dining in. I'm open to giving them another try, but after eating at many Middle Eastern restaurants across Southern California, I've never run into this level of under-seasoning. I was craving an authentic shawarma wrap and decided to give The Palm Tree a try. Although I was ordered take out, the dining room was nicely decorated, spacious and comfortable. I was greeted warmly by the hostess. I sat at the nearest table to wait for my order. Another staff member came to me to ask if I have been helped. I liked how attentive they are, it makes one feel like a welcomed guest. I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap and it did not disappoint. Tasty, well-seasoned chunks of chicken with a slight char, I believe the wrap was lavash which was fresh and light, not doughy and nicely seared. Over the years this restaurant has changed names and ownership, but it has always been Middle Eastern and Mediterranean, albeit with regional aspects such as Syrian, Lebanese, Egyptian or Iraqi. I popped in recently to try a kabob on the lunch menu, something I scouted in advance here on Yelp. The price seemed good and the portion was commiserate as well. To my delight. Beef Koubideh (aka Kafta et al.) is essentially ground beef that's grilled with various seasoning and parsley. Served over Pilaf with hummus and side salad, there's a pita included for dipping, wrapping, or filling. My preferred method is tearing in two and stuffing. The hostess seems to do it all: Serve, prepare, and cashier, all with charm and grace. I enjoyed the meal and would definitely return to try other things, and sides, too. Nicely balanced flavors make this a solid choice for someone unfamiliar with Middle Eastern cuisine, and excellent prices help with the exploration. I was so impressed by this mediterranean restaurant, I was greeted by a very friendly lady and she was very helpful and didn't rush me and recommend the Samoas, they were 10/10....so flavorful and fresh! Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. Chicken kabob was super dry and salty. The rice was also outrageously salty. Definitely overpriced for the quality of food you get. Salad was pink and prepackaged. And the garlic spread looked like cottage cheese which is beyond unusual for garlic spread. The pita bread was old and hardened from sitting out probably from the day before from being left out. This has got to be the worst Middle Eastern Food in the area. It's def not Halal, but they claim to be prob because they're the only middle Eastern food option in the area. Falafels are on point! This is my fav from my visit today. The mixed kabab plate is good in general. It could be better. The beef is a lil bit overcooked hence hard to chew (it will be better if it were cooked medium), chicken is a lil hard to chew as well but it is flavorful, and ground beef is the better protein option out of the three. My husband got the lamb shank. This was his fav. Must have slow cooked the meat cuz it just falls off the bone smoothly. Friendly lady server. But she disappears in the kitchen for some time while there are customers dining or in line, waiting to be seen. Been sitting and waiting around for the server to come out from the kitchen for 15 mins wanting to ask for a check lol and only to find out you need to pay up in the front. Awesome place to grab a healthy bite of food. Servings were generous for about 20 bucks a person. I got the mixed three which was the beef, chicken, and ground beef kebabs. Two sides were hummus and salad. The chicken was amazing it was my favorite but the ground beef was also in competition towards it. The desert options were great I grabbed one of each and two of the pie shaped ones. My favorite was the smaller circle one very flaky. Very quit day when we first came in just lots of to go orders. As we got our food a huge party of folks joined for the holiday Eid al-Adha. We moved over tables for newer guest to take our table and combine with theirs for a bigger party. This has become mine and my husbands new place to go eat. When we moved back to the US last year from being overseas the last 5 years, it was really hard finding an authentic place that didn't sell crap food or fake food. Everything is fast food nowadays and it's overwhelmingly sad. This place is very authentic and you can tell they cook their food with love. I don't feel sluggish or terrible after eating here. I always feel full and well fed. Their portions are very generous in my opinion (compared to Italian portions). This is REAL food, and I love that. The owner and everyone else that works there is so kind. I honestly love coming here. I feel seen, I feel cared for, and I feel respected. I tried this place last night with my partner and I definitely want to come back. The service is really warm and friendly, and the server was happy to answer any questions about the menu. The food was brilliant - we had the KMG platter, the chicken shawarma wrap, the fattoush salad and some of the baklava and everything was delicious. The meats, especially the lamb chops, were juicy, tender and well seasoned, the hummus was excellent (and whatever olive oil they top it with was lovely, really fruity and rich), the salads were nice and fresh with just enough dressing to flavor them without overwhelming, and the tahini, the toum and the wrap sauce were magical. The pistachio baklava was perfect, just sweet enough and juicy/syrupy. It was a Friday evening around 8 and there was only a couple of other groups in there, so of course we were seated immediately and the service was really fast too, but this restaurant deserves to be way busier. read more

We came with the family to celebrate a birthday and at first we were a bit skeptical but in the end we were so glad we decided to try it. We tried the Kebsa Lamb and a family platter and everything was delicious! Customer service was good as well. It felt like as if you were visiting family and they serve you as such. Already started recommending to family and friends. Definitely looking forward to come back and try other dishes. We had the lentil soup and green salad and the chicken and beef kabobs! Everything was cooked to perfection! We topped off our meal with a sampler of baklava!!
