This place has the worst customer service EVER! They are low-key racist, from my experience. An African American lady was waiting for a to-go order with her daughter. My husband & I walked in 10 min later (per the lady waiting told my husband and me), and she said, "So am I seating you all at one table?" We had no idea what she was talking about. Could it be that we were all of the same melanin? We ordered our food, and it came out in pieces. Nothing was a single order. The bacon came out, then the eggs and hashbrowns, then the second plate ( but after I was done eating my food), then they brought my husband's. But NO waffle. So we ended up eating separately. He watched me..and I watched him. Still NO waffle. So after he was done eating, we told them to cancel the waffle. They brought the BILL and the waffle at the same time. With the waffle on the BILL. They are awful, they know the waffle should NOT have been listed on the bill. I had ONE thin slice of French toast. The server (Jessica) is awful, and the racist host as well. She said, "I can give you a 1/2 order of French toast, but didn't tell me it's the SAME price for a FULL order. This place is a BIG PASS for me. I hope this post can help save someone from the same experience. So many other places with much better food to offer, better experiences, and much friendlier staff. read more

The service was prompt, friendly and efficient, with a single server managing all of the tables at the breakfast hour, but doing so very effectively and with a smile. We enjoyed hearty breakfasts, with properly cooked over easy eggs, tender sausage links, crispy bacon, fluffy scrambled eggs, large buttermilk pancakes, and a crispy but tender waffle with warm maple syrup. I was just treated horribly at this restaurant this morning. I had a dermatology appointment nearby so I stopped here for some breakfast. The older Asian woman with the puffy surgery face took my order. Every time I ordered something that cost extra she said "thats's extra" after the third time she said "that's extra" I politely stopped her and smiled and I said "I know. You don't have to keep saying that." She paused and didn't say it again. She took my order. I asked for green tea. Then i realized I wanted it to go instead so I asked for a Styrofoam to go cup. The older woman with the dirty apron who cleans tables said okay. As she brought me the cup she dropped the lid on the floor in front of me. Picked it up and handed to me with a smile on her face. I know, I should of left but..... I ordered a breakfast scramble with breakfast sausage, 1 egg and 2 egg whites with avocado and a side of sour cream. I also ordered fresh squeezed orange juice and a side of fruit. And 1/2 Belgian waffle. What I received instead of a breakfast was horribly scrambled eggs with unmelted cheese old avocado and no breakfast sausage. When I told Ms. puff about the mistake she realized she made the mistake when taking my order. The hash browns looked good so I opted for a side of breakfast sausage instead. I tried to eat the food I order, but there was absolutely no flavor. None. I don't even use pepper. I tried it today tho lol. Nothing helped them eggs. And to make matters worse the breakfast sausage that was brought to me was dangerously undercooked. I was so mad I was seething with anger. Only thing removed from the bill was the breakfast sausage even though I spilled my orange juice by accident. read more

My wife and I stopped by this restaurant yesterday (June 13, 2036) for a late breakfast. The waitress told us to take a table anywhere we wanted (lots of tables were available). I ordered eggs over easy, sausages, potatoes, and wheat toast. My wife ordered eggs over easy, corned beef hash, and waffles. Our food was served about 15-20 minutes after we ordered the food. My food was delicious although there was a lack of seasoning on the potatoes. My wife's order was delicious (I tried the hash and waffles). The portions are large. The waitress never came around to fill our water glasses. The unisex bathroom appears neat. The interior of the restaurant reminded me of an old diner from the 1960's. Met up recently here with a friend. It was one of those rainy days, so no wait and was seated immediately. I ordered the omelette with sausage and cheese and asked for the crispy potatoes (instead of the roasted). The food came out quickly. Omelet was fresh , light with fair amount of sausage and cheese. I would have loved more cheese! Good crispy potatoes too. No toast was included. Toast was only included with the fruit option. I think this is a change since my last time.. Nice little out of the way cafe in Orinda. I met friends there for an early lunch and enjoyed a nice tuna melt. I wished I asked for Swiss cheese - they gave me cheddar. Not a deal breaker. The side salad was nice. Ambience was good. I think we got there early with the elderly folks. Then around 1:30 a younger crowd gathered in. Had brunch with family and they recommended going to the Village Inn Cafe. It's in a quiet strip mall. The clientele are regulars. I had the two eggs breakfast with breakfast sausage and a Belgian waffle. The eggs were perfectly over easy. The sausage seemed to have a sweetness and flavor of a Chinese sausage. And the Belgian waffle was wonderfully crunchy. I was very pleased to see that real maple syrup was available. My son loved his Belgian waffle with chocolate chips and whipped cream. This is a cute place that feels like a classic diner, but has some updated menu options. I seem to be on a bit of an egg Benedict kick lately and theirs did not disappoint. Fortunately, parking is easy, if it weren't so warm we would've sat outside, but at the counter/bar was fine. Service was good and my friend was very happy with her chocolate chip pancakes. I had breakfast here on my birthday. Belgian waffle with a side of bacon and maple syrup. This was the best diner style breakfast I have found in the Bay Area so far after moving here a year ago. Cozy little mom and pop shop. I love supporting family owned businesses and this cafe provides the perfect breakfast comfort food with warm service to match. After hiking Inspiration Point, my yelp pal Jamie L. and I needed to refuel and used Yelp to look up a breakfast spot. We saw Village Inn Cafe and decided to check it out. Parking is easy and and plentiful in the plaza its located in. Once inside we were greeted promptly and handed menus. Everything looked so good and I let my sweet tooth decide and went with the french toast with strawberries while Jam decided to do both sweet and savory with the chicken and waffles. We both enjoyed our largely portioned meals and cozy, local atmosphere. The food was delicious, the service was great and it's a family owned business. What's not to like? We went for lunch on Sunday. It's a neighborhood spot for us but we hadn't been there for several years (pre-pandemic) and have to say the food didn't measure up to my memories. I wanted to revisit my favorite menu item: egg salad sandwich with a side of fruit. Sadly, I was disappointed. While the portion of egg salad was generous, the concoction itself was dry and without any seasoning, not even salt. How can you mess up hard-boiled eggs and mayo? On the other hand, the fruit was very fresh and tasty. My partner and I each had coffee (his regular, mine decaf) and both were burned. My partner ordered the super scramble with ground beef, which comes with a side of roasted potatoes and toast. Once again, the portion was generous. He enjoyed the scramble but the cook definitely had a heavy hand with the salty paprika coating on the potatoes, which completely masked the potato taste. Service was spotty, a mix of attentive/pleasant contrasting with a gruff attitude from the boss. The orange juice was plopped down on the table with juice spilling over and running down the side of the glass. Also, the waiter didn't ask if we wanted cream with our coffee nor butter for the toast. Overall experience...meh. read more

Looks basic, anything But! The size of the chicken on the waffles covered the entire waffle. Chili cheese fries are fantastic. Enough for two meals so plan on having some leftovers. The omelette has green chilies, cheese and bacon in it. That also had a ton of stuff in it so there's leftovers for that as well. Go there, follow your gut and then put some food in it. I was in search of a good breakfast place within the general Lamorinda area to meet with my friend when she suggested this restaurant. I must say that this has to be my new favorite brunch spot! I ended up ordering the corned beef hash per the waiter's suggestion and it was my first time having it with over easy eggs and it was amazing! It is perfect for those who like hash brown but want some protein within it. Parking is very easy to find as it is conveniently located in the Orinda Village Plaza. They have both outdoor and indoor seating and the restaurant is very clean and well furnished. I was in love with the homey feel of the restaurant and I found out it is a family owned restaurant! The owner and her two daughters were so kind and patient with me when especially when taking my order because I was so indecisive with what I would order. I will 100% be visiting again and highly recommend this place! The other breakfast places in the area cannot compare to the fast service, delicious food, beautiful presentation, and the warmth emulating from this establishment. They kept my coffee cup full and the eggs were hot still by the time I got my food, and the bacon was better quality than I have gotten in other diners.
