OVER PRICED & they Nickel & Dime you ;o(

This place has the worst customer service EVER! They are low-key racist, from my experience. An African American lady was waiting for a to-go order with her daughter. My husband & I walked in 10 min later (per the lady waiting told my husband and me), and she said, "So am I seating you all at one table?" We had no idea what she was talking about. Could it be that we were all of the same melanin? We ordered our food, and it came out in pieces. Nothing was a single order. The bacon came out, then the eggs and hashbrowns, then the second plate ( but after I was done eating my food), then they brought my husband's. But NO waffle. So we ended up eating separately. He watched me..and I watched him. Still NO waffle. So after he was done eating, we told them to cancel the waffle. They brought the BILL and the waffle at the same time. With the waffle on the BILL. They are awful, they know the waffle should NOT have been listed on the bill. I had ONE thin slice of French toast. The server (Jessica) is awful, and the racist host as well. She said, "I can give you a 1/2 order of French toast, but didn't tell me it's the SAME price for a FULL order. This place is a BIG PASS for me. I hope this post can help save someone from the same experience. So many other places with much better food to offer, better experiences, and much friendlier staff.

belgian waffle with maple syrup (April 2025)

Quaint, cozy local diner in Orinda, with classic diner decor and menu as well. The service was prompt, friendly and efficient, with a single server managing all of the tables at the breakfast hour, but doing so very effectively and with a smile. We enjoyed hearty breakfasts, with properly cooked over easy eggs, tender sausage links, crispy bacon, fluffy scrambled eggs, large buttermilk pancakes, and a crispy but tender waffle with warm maple syrup. The coffee was hot but standard diner brew flavor. Prices were not cheap but consistent for the area among comparable restaurants.

Met up recently here with a friend. It was one of those rainy days, so no wait and was seated immediately. I ordered the omelette with sausage and cheese and asked for the crispy potatoes (instead of the roasted). The food came out quickly. Omelet was fresh , light with fair amount of sausage and cheese. I would have loved more cheese! Good crispy potatoes too. No toast was included. Toast was only included with the fruit option. I think this is a change since my last time.. Regardless the service was great, and would be back. This is a quaint little breakfast place .Attached are current menu pictures.

Wonderful place to enjoy home made foods. Traditional American breakfast and comfortable setting you can indulge yourself into.. My favorite was the hash brown and the eggs softly scrambled. And the latte, so favorable!

two egg breakfast with sausage and waffle

Had brunch with family and they recommended going to the Village Inn Cafe. It's in a quiet strip mall. The clientele are regulars. I had the two eggs breakfast with breakfast sausage and a Belgian waffle. The eggs were perfectly over easy. The sausage seemed to have a sweetness and flavor of a Chinese sausage. And the Belgian waffle was wonderfully crunchy. I was very pleased to see that real maple syrup was available. My son loved his Belgian waffle with chocolate chips and whipped cream. The service was nice and quick. I would go back if in the area.

Suppose to open at 7am... went on a weekday, right at 7am, place was dark. Was it an anomaly or have the hours changed?

They also have an outdoor area, but it was raining so no outdoors. I order the crab Benedict with avocado. The bread had crispy edges which I love! The hollandaise sauce had a tangy delicious taste. My hash browns were made to perfection with crispy hash on top! The portion was so big - I was only able to eat half of the plate. The pancakes were as big as the plate! (Edges were my favorite!)

We decided to visit Breakfast Club at Midtown Lafayette after hearing so many glowing reviews. I…read moreknow they have several locations throughout the Bay Area, but since we were in Lafayette, we figured we'd finally give this one a try. We arrived around 11:30 a.m on Monday. There was only one party ahead of us waiting to be seated, and it didn't even appear that they had been acknowledged. About two or three minutes later, a gentleman came over, asked how many were in their party, and seated them. We then waited another five minutes before the bartender finally looked over and asked, "Have you been helped?" We replied, "No." He asked how many were in our party, whether we preferred inside or outside seating, and then seated us inside. After sitting for about 10 minutes with no acknowledgment from the server, the bartender returned and took our order. I had two very simple modifications to my meal. I repeated them a couple of times just to make sure they were noted, as they were nothing complicated. I simply didn't want two ingredients that normally came as garnishes. The bartender read my order back, confirmed the modifications, and walked away. About 35 minutes later, our food finally arrived, but we still hadn't received our beverages. I politely asked another server, who had yet to acknowledge us once during our visit, if we could please get our cappuccino. He brought over a regular coffee instead. I politely explained that we had actually ordered a cappuccino. He seemed irritated but said, "Fine, I'll go get it for you." Unfortunately, my food wasn't prepared correctly despite the bartender repeating the order back to me. Even more disappointing, my entire meal was ice cold. The scramble was cold, the toast was cold, and honestly, nothing on the plate was warm. What made the experience even more frustrating was that there wasn't a single opportunity to mention any of this. The bartender never came back. The server never checked on us. Even the person who delivered our food never returned to ask how everything was. We were essentially forgotten after our meals were dropped off. I genuinely hate writing negative reviews because I work in customer service myself and understand firsthand how overwhelming the service industry can be. I completely understand getting busy. What I don't understand is completely ignoring your guests. Even when you're overwhelmed, acknowledging customers and checking in, even briefly, makes a huge difference. Looking back, I probably should have taken the condition of the restaurant as a warning sign. When we walked in, there were numerous tables inside that still had dirty plates, cups, and leftover food from previous guests. The outdoor patio looked the same. What surprised me most was that many of those same tables were still covered in dirty dishes when we left. I wasn't expecting perfection, but I was expecting much more than what we experienced. We spent over $50, received cold food, an incorrect order, waited an unusually long time for drinks, and never had a single opportunity to let anyone know because no one ever checked on us. It was honestly a very disappointing experience, especially after hearing such positive things about this restaurant.

We opted to not sit outside, rather inside right by the exterior seating to still get the vibes but also some AC. I love places like Lafayette where all the businesses support each other and help each other grow. Their brews on tap are mostly all local, and we grabbed some Pilsners sourced from Lafayette's new brewery, Western Flyer. So fresh and crisp. Can't wait to also check that spot out. Food-wise, we came in mid-afternoon and grabbed a Kale Pancetta salad (they pre-split the salad for us on two plates which was so nice), and for the mains, we both grabbed the Tuna Melt with fries. The salad was delicious. I'm def a tuna melt girly, and I loved the addition of the ciabatta (?) as the bread option, so fresh as well. This tuna melt comes with grapes fyi, and a few other elements mixed in. I absolutely loved it, just sharing though as I know how some tuna stans like their tuna :) This spot is clean, spacious, and perfectly situated in walking distance downtown. Would love to come back for brunch with a group of friends, or even again during the upcoming Lafayette Art & Wine Fest. Food is good, service is quick and friendly, and vibes are right. Metered parking located across the street.

There were so many items that I wanted to try, but I only had one stomach. Came here on a Thursday morning and the restaurant was operating at around 20% capacity.
