Gerber is Glass America mobile service. It's good that they come to you. Certainly there is lot of room for improvement in scheduling. I got delayed, canceled and rescheduled. I highly recommend Gerber Collision & Glass in Bellevue, WA. They did a great job repairing my Jeep (which my daughter damaged by sideswiping a concrete pillar in a parking garage). And Jose Aguilar was awesome. He was kind and efficient and he went above and beyond. A car window was smashed by evildoers in Tacoma and Gerber was one of the car repair shops accepted by the insurance. It was two weeks out before an assessment could be done followed by another week before being able to drop off the car. Since the glass shards had damaged the interior linings, the repair was more extensive and had an estimate of 4 to 6 weeks. It was nice that the business provided weekly status updates via text. In the end, the car was ready after about 4.5 weeks. Most of the repair was finished rather quickly; the long pole was that there were sixteen cars ahead in line at the paint shop. Upon picking up the car, we were surprised that the replacement window was tinted to match the existing state. Inside was not detailed but had some vacuuming done. All the damages marked were gone. The end-to-end process was rather smooth and they did a satisfying job. Gerber coordinates with nearby car rental places so Hertz was able to come pick us up after dropping off the car. Inside the building has guest Wi-Fi, complimentary basic drinks, and restrooms. read more

Got referred to this company through insurance company. Took several weeks to get an appointment for estimate, then another 2 weeks for car to be accepted for repair. Of course, nothing had been ordered, so at least another week of waiting for parts to arrive. Their mode of communication is by text, which with my auto repair shop, works great. Gerber doesn't know how to do this properly. They leave me brief, non-informative messages that tell me just to wait. There is no way to contact the office. The phone numbers all get sent to their national office. I will never use this company again. read more

I can't recall a more pathetic customer service experience than that rendered by Gerber Collision. First, they ordered the long lead time replacement glass and when it arrived almost a month later they discovered that they hadn't ordered the trim piece. Several weeks later, they were "warming up" my car and caused it overheat and empty its radiator of all coolant. When I went to pick it up, the airbag light was on, the trim piece was hanging from the ceiling and the power windows and mirrors were both inoperative. I took it back, and a week later they said they weren't fixing the broken power because it wasn't part of the glass replacement. I drove home, and could hear air rushing in the passenger side window, because it wasn't sealing properly, then noticed my front plate was missing. CAN YOU SPELL INEPTITUDE??? I had to resort to making a formal complaint with my insurer to remedy this catastrophic experience and get my car fixed properly and my front plate replaced. I'm going to spare the clown who "served" me from public humiliation but suffice to say that this idiot wouldn't know customer service if it landed on his head with a thud. Having had another of my cars repaired last year at Carstar Bellevue, I can honestly say Gerber is beyond repair under current management. Don't say I didn't warn you. read more

I am beyond angry. Since the get go of my claim I reported hot air coming out from the drivers side vents and my airconditiong not working and guess what IT WASNT FIXED. Charles from the beginning said that wasn't reported and he wouldn't fix it I told him they better because it was reported! I left it over a month ago and they returned it Below satisfactory conditions. Only cosmetic repairs and the biggest issue was not resolved the HOT AIR who can drive around with HOT air hitting there feet even when the air is turned off? I'm so disappointed this has been thr worse experience. Dont take your vehicle to these shops people. I will call Management on Monday I have insurance and the repairs are covered so I'm giving them the chance to do the necessary repairs. The worst customer service I've experienced in a long time. The receptionist was very rude and claimed they called and left a voicemail, which I never received. When I came in to get an estimate, they acted like they were pissed off that I had come in without an appointment and grudgingly scheduled one for more than a month out. I had some body work I needed performed on an older truck of mine, so I skipped past the very expensive body shops near Bellevue BMW and opted for Gerber, since they were highly rated on Yelp and came recommended by Hertz. I figured the guys at Hertz probably deal with many body shops, and after my conversation with them I was right! I dealt with Jose at Gerber who took the time to explain everything about the repair to me and kept me updated throughout the process. I wanted to upgrade a few items on my car at the same time as the repair and Jose was always very accommodating to all my crazy ideas and propositions. The car was delayed a few days due to a painter that was out sick, but their automated emails always kept me in the loop. I hope to never damage my vehicle again, but if I do I wouldn't hesitate to bring it back to Jose and Harper at Gerber. read more

Gerber regards customers as an inconvenience between them and insurance payments. If they could get paid for doing nothing, they would love it. Our 1999 Jeep Cherokee needed front and rear bumpers replaced and a rear hatch fixed after a collision. The insurance referred us to Gerber. We called in March and they gave us an appointment almost a month out. The reason for the delay was they wanted to make sure all the parts were available. On April 13th we dropped off the car and they told us it would be ready in 2 weeks. After 2 weeks they told us that their distributor had delivered the incorrect rear bumper and they needed another week. After 2 weeks of silence, we called. They said they had trouble finding a bumper. So the car was in the shop for 8 weeks and every week they said still looking for a bumper. Finally I lost my patience and went on Google and found a correct bumper kit for $99. I printed the part number and picture and asked Gerber if it was the correct part. They said it was and it would take them 1 hour to install it, so I ordered it online. It was delivered to my house for $46 fee in less than 5 days. I took the bumper to Gerber in the morning and asked them if they could have it done quickly. They said they have to see if it fits. Aaaargh! Didn't they just tell me a week prior that it was the right part? Of course every time I complained, they sent out "Mr. Tough Guy" to give me a nasty look and intimidate me, because the receptionist was busy with her nails. So, after 9 weeks of being without a car, they finally installed the $99 bumper that I had bought on the internet. Why couldn't they buy it? They said they only order parts through Dodge/Chrysler and they don't buy anything off the internet. That's horrible customer service. I will never let them touch my cars again. read more

I had an "issue" last month and had to get the back end of the car repaired. My family's used Gerber (in Woodinville) in the past, and they've always been professional and done a good job so when I found a location in Bellevue, this is where I came. The place can be slightly hard to spot from the road, as it's set back between two other buildings but once you find it the first time, it's easy to locate. Their front desk gal was bright and friendly, and Larry who did my estimate was very helpful, knowledgeable, and overall a great guy. He explained what he was doing throughout the inspection and then took the time to break down all the details of the estimate, right down to the hazardous waste charges, to make sure I understood what I (or, rather, the insurance) was paying for. The insurance sent me to another company for the official estimate, and while they were nice, it wasn't as thorough or comforting as my experience with Larry. Gerber helped us set up a car rental for the repair period and we dropped the car off, expecting the repair would take 7-10 days. Larry called every few days to inform me of the progress, and after a week the car was done except for its final inspection. Unfortunately, they discovered a problem with the paint which delayed getting the car back for another day, but Gerber covered the cost of the rental car while they fixed it. Being in an auto accident can be very stressful, even when no injuries are involved. The folks at Gerber go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and taken care of. While I would hope not to need their services in the future, when and if I do, I will come here first. read more

I had my bumper changed here. They put on an after market bumper and even though it didn't fit well with my car, they went ahead and finished the paint job. As a result, an appeal had to be written to my insurance company to order for an OEM bumper. That wasted me another week and increased my insurance claim. needless to say the inconvenience it caused. read more

My Mini Countryman and I were in a fender bender. My insurance company recommended Gerber. From the first time I arrived to today when I picked up the car I have been impressed. They communicate very well using text messages. Rich would call if he needed to tell me more. The repair took a bit longer than expected but it was getting parts from dealer. After getting rear ended I researched a place to get my car repaired. I narrowed it down to this place and went ahead and got it scheduled in for a repair and I was informed it would be a 3 day repair and I handed over the keys and got transported over to get my rental car. Had to wait two weeks for my initial inspection from progressive guy. Inspection was complete and I was informed it will take a little longer due to the Labor Day weekend. No problem for me as they just extended my rental car for the duration. Just after Labor Day I was called by progressive again saying that the repairs were taking longer than expected and I should anticipate delays until the following Monday. Monday rolled around and I got a late afternoon call saying all was completed. I scheduled to collect the car the following morning. The next morning I went and picked up the car in it's repaired state. Apart from the different bumper protector everything looked really good. Top marks for the repairs. However, after departing the shop I noticed that my park assist feature was still disabled. I enabled it and it alarmed like it did after the accident. Seems that they never tested this feature even though they had to replace some of the sensors as part of the job. I called in and they said pop the car back in and it will be a 5minute job. I dropped the car off and I was told 30 minutes. So I went for a quick 30 minute stroll and came back to see they were still working on the car. So 30 minutes became 90+ minutes but at least they did good on the work. I'm guessing people try to estimate work, but truly being an Engineer I know the mechanic can best estimate work. Would I use Gerber again for future work, most probably. read more

Very poor customer communication, please don't trust Gerber (my exp with Bellevue, WA center)...they said they'll take my car for repair after verifying with insurance after 2 weeks. Drivers side window got smashed. Made an appt, gave all the appropriate info and technician showed up on time which was great. Took my drivers door apart to replace the window and then discovered he was missing the ONE tool he needed to finish the job. We were assured we were "first on the list" for the next day. After waiting 2.5 hours beyond what we considered to be the "first on the list" time frame, we called and were told "we weren't on the dispatch list". Another hour later and they called us back to ask if we could drive the car 45 miles to their location. It's pouring rain. So. No. Called Safelight and all is well now. read more

I hit the front right bumper of my Prius when backing out of the garage. Figured repair cost would be below my $1000 deductible, so got a recommendation for an auto body shop from Toyota. Thought that shop's quote was pretty inflated, so called my insurance company and they recommended Gerber Collision. Gerber's quote was just a little over half that of the other shop. I had a good experience with Gerber. Someone hit me, so his insurance (Liberty Mutual) set this appointment up for me. The estimate didn't take long and we easily set up when they could fix my car. (It was drive-able, so I wanted to wait a few days.) When I dropped my car off, they had already ordered the bumper and had it available to fix. They called Enterprise to pick me up. (They're nearby and it's very handy.) My car was fixed by the middle of the next day and looked brand new. If something happens to my car again, I'd be fine taking it there. Warning: It is a bit tricky to find. It's kind of hidden from the street, so ask for directions! read more

This is about the glass replacement company/subcontractor/whatever. I only had the driver side window replaced. It was a nightmare. They ended up refunding the labor costs and threatened with collections when I disputed the entire charge with my CC company. Long story short: 1. They forgot to reconnect the door knob, so I was left with opening the door from the outside. 2. My previous window got smashed, but Gerber left the broken glass inside the door. You can imagine the sounds the door would make. 3. They only connected 1 screw out of the 4 that would hold the door panel. 1 out of 4. 4. When I went back to the shop, they didn't have a vacuum cleaner to remove the glass from inside the door. This was a week long nightmare of going back and forth with their customer service who could not believe the shitty job their technician did and tried to arrange for somebody to come and repair everything. During the Thanksgiving week. If you think about using Gerber to replace your windows, I suggest you read this review again and pick somebody else. You will save yourself a lot of trouble. My experience with Gerber was rather disappointing. The office staff is very courteous and professional, with great communication. My problems lie entirely in the frustration of incomplete and inadequate repair work. Even though the work was fairly minor, with a replacement fender + straightening a door skin and should have been an easy & quick repair, it became a month long exercise in frustration, lost time, and increased expenses for myself and I assume the shop. In addition to taking a week longer than it should have to get the work done, I had to come back to the shop three separate times to have issues corrected. - First was the door skin was not fully straightened, which required leaving the car with the shop to have additional bodywork & paint. - Second: I returned to pick up the vehicle; there was unpolished clear coat from the repair. The office staff member informed me they did not have anyone in the shop to correct the issue, requiring me to return the next week. - Third: I found a screw from the fender rolling around in my engine compartment (area under windshield wipers). Upon returning to the shop, the manager and I found that in addition to the extra screw rolling around, that two of the three bolts holding the fender on at the top were only in a few threads deep and nearly falling out. They never were able to locate where the extra screw would go. At least he tightened those loose bolts. In addition to issues with the body, I had some concerns about the mechanical work performed. After requesting documentation on the mechanical work performed on my vehicle, it turns out that the suspension no longer meets the factory specifications for alignment. When I questioned the sub-contracted mechanic, Gerber, and my insurance company on this, I simply got a run-around series of statements that they would not repair the issue. Therefore, after all that, I will not return. I simply cannot and will not recommend Gerber Collision, which is unfortunate because my contact with their front office staff was phenomenal. read more

Gerber had contacted me about the Hertz debacle. The shop manager, Rick explained to me that he had talked to Hertz at that time and expected to receive a bill from them. I guess Hertz never followed through. He then promised that Gerber will reimburse me for both the car rental and the toll charges. As of today, I have received the check from Gerber as promised. I can say that Gerber really cares about their reputation and tries to resolve the issue. As I've said in the previous review, I should've checked my credit card statement back then and tried to resolved it back then. The work itself was fine and with great quality. I'd recommend to have it done there. I'd recommend if rental car is dropped off at the shop make sure that the rental car company is notified. Thank you for resolving this issue. read more

I have used this shop a few times, with different cars, each time with excellent results. This last time my beautiful red Jetta had the misfortune of meeting the back bumper of a construction truck as the driver was backing out into traffic. Not only were they able to take my car in during a major weather event in the Puget Sound area but complete the work ahead of time and excellently done. They also went above and beyond the call of duty, coming to pick me up when I got lost for nearly two hours on public transit trying to get in to pick up my car. These folks are the great. Worst ever! 1) Their idea of shuttle service- I drove my car along with the tech back to my house so the tech could drive it 2) When I asked how much to paint the entire car, I was told $18,000 dollars. 3) I was promised my car back in one week. I called a day ahead to see when it would be ready and was told they had not started on it and I could pick it up the following week. 4) Only the hood needed to be painted and the trunk deck lid needed to be buffed. The deck lid was never touched. Rob said, "Oh wow, that needed to be done? We totally missed that. Well, you can being it back." I would not recommend them to anyone. They gave an initial estimate of how long my car would take to repair of "no more than 2 weeks". Every time they told me it would be ready tomorrow, they would delay it again. 5 times they delayed when my car would be ready and they ended up keeping it for almost a month! When I picked up my car, it was parked in a way that the repair side of the car was not in the sunlight and had shadows on it. I couldn't see the scratches and dents STILL ON MY CAR until I got home! Chris took excellent c are of me and walked me through the whole process as this was my first (and hopefully last) car accident. Being open on Saturdays was incredibly convenient for and Jacob did an amazing job of explaining what they did and how they did it. Both he and Chris went out of their way to make sure that this situation was handled quickly and correctly.
