Im here about windshield repair. I was redirected to them through glass america and they gave me date and time that tech gonna come. 9am on day of service they give me eta between 9-5pm and tech nr. I contact tech and he told me that he will come between 12-1, fine by me. It is 1:30 right now and he tells me that he is still in shop.... And that he dont know when he will come. Its 1:30now Ill make it my life mission to stay da fuck away from anything with name gerber. It's hard to put a "star" review on this place because for collision repairs I've always had a great experience and would give it a 5 star review. This review is for glass repair, which they contract out to a company called "Glass America". I called the number on the website and the person "scheduled an appointment" for 9am, and told me it should take 1-1.5 hours to complete so I could wait or plan to come back. I dropped it off on time, and the man working in the office was very nice and took my key and said the glass guy was running a bit late but was expected any minute. A person came in a van and fixed my window in the parking lot in 20 minutes. I came back just before close, at NOON, to pick up my car and the glass repair guy still had not arrived. He had kept telling the office person (who was then forced to stay late) "30 minutes, 45 minutes, etc.". Neither of us knew if he would actually show up. I expect this sometimes with local independent contractors, but not from a large company. He showed up at 12:55pm and I was going to leave at 1pm. The office person said this happens ALL THE TIME and that customers get really upset and employees get frustrated. If you intend to get a glass repair done here, understand it is not an hour process. Drop your car off without any time expectation and all will be fine. The RVP (John Mulligan) and EVP/COO (Brian Kaner) really need to look at the operations of the glass contracting operational models of their business. They are outdated and inefficient, and frankly rude and misleading. The collision side seems to be operating well. I will not be coming back for glass repair, but will still continue to use them for any other repairs. read more

Do not use Gerber. they invoiced insurance for work that was not done. I took the car back twice and the bumper is still loose along with other issues. I have never had such a bad experience, but the people are friendly - it's just the work is horrible. So they are paying for another shop to fix it. read more

Never go to this Gerber!! Was promised a 2 week repair, but needed 12 weeks to complete. Had to get a rental at my own cost. To make matters worse they couldn't care less that I spent over $4,000 for this ($50 a day for rental x 12 weeks = over $4200.) Each week they delayed the repair I was out another $450. Weekly they kept telling me parts were coming, but due to a part shortage they never came. When I called their bluff and asked if I could get the part they would hang up on me. When I called back the call went to voice mail. And this staff is arrogant and had no problem belittling you. They will talk down to you and treat you as an imbecile. To make matters worse the staff was the one that is incompetent. Multiple time they had to reordered parts. So not getting things right the first time demonstrates their lack of knowledge. Rude, unprofessional, and totally incompetent! read more

. I contacted you today to schedule my auto repair. I had previously called and was told that I needed to have the claim reinstated (reopened) which I did. The payment came directly to me so that I could avoid this issue again. I called and left multiple messages with no return. Today, I got someone on the phone who was argumentative and rude from the moment she picked up the phone. She insisted that she would not schedule if I did not reopen the claim which I did. I told her I did, that I received the check, and would pay additional cost out of pocket. She continued to argue with me about insurance. I asked if no one is allowed to schedule paying out of pocket and she said no. She insisted that the cost would "only go up" once they started working on the car. What? It sounds like that is a very unethical policy they have to milk insurance. She then hung up. Worst experience I have ever had. read more

This Gerber collision in Sycamore Illinois was absolutely the worst place to get your car fixed. I will never use another Gerber ever to do anything to another vehicle I own. they lied about the time it was supposed to be done. lied about the price, which changed 3 times before it was done. The people there, are idiots. I finally got my car back after almost a month, they had it. I have to take it back, because it's not starting right, and the dash lights and gauges are not working right. who knows how long they will keep it and or fix it right. read more

Gerber and point of contact Chris V. were great! I got automated texts and calls from Chris providing status updates. They could have arranged to have a rental car waiting at the shop when I dropped off my car, if my insurance hadn't already provided. The work was finished earlier than expected. Yes there was a timespan of a month between when brought car in for an estimate and when they started repair, but that is because they are popular and needed time to order parts due to global supply chain issues. It was worth the wait: the work looks great and cannot tell that my door and rear quarter panel were banged up then repaired/replaced. Bonus, the car was cleaner on the inside when I picked it up. I can't get over what a great experience it was going to Gerber team in Lakeview (Chicago). First, on the phone, they were clear, polite and professional--they were able to get me in right away for an estimate. I called four other places before I called Gerber with less than optimal customer service. Second, Chris who did the estimate was so professional and did an excellent job talking me through everything to expect--from what would be done, to cost, to turnaround time. I was asked how I preferred the estimate to be shared--hard copy or email? Both! I was asked how to get updates: text or email? Both! So easy and clear. THEN, the manager drove me to my car rental place and helped me get my car seats out, etc. -- totally above and beyond! THEN, the car was ready THE NEXT DAY and was done to absolute perfection! I really appreciated it being done earlier than expected since Christmas is in 3 days and paying for a rental car wasn't in my plans! The final "cherry on top" was they buffed out a few little dings that weren't related to the accident, as a courtesy, AND they washed my filthy car inside and out! They talked me through everything before I left to make sure I was happy with the job, and assured me everything was guaranteed and to call with any issues! I was totally amazed by the service and professionalism of every member of the team and am completely wowed by the final product. As many who have worked with this type of industry in the past know, this is quite a money grab! Reminds me of the Mercedes dealership that I used to bring my car into for service, they just couldn't seem to not find $5000 worth of work that needs to be done! Be ready to pay top price, and it doesn't end there they love to find undisclosed issues that require additional money after accepting their quote. I can certainly understand if there is any hidden damage, but something just doesn't seem right with their sleazy quote writers! I swear they must work on commission. read more
