A huge tree fell on my 2012 Ford Edge and smashed the windshield, the very large retractable sunroof, and the back window. Everything was swapped out for under $700 whereas a dealership would have been in the $1,000s.and the power sunroof worked perfectly along with rear wiper. The car itself isn't worth more than $3,000. On top of that the turn around was less than four hours. Couldn't recommend this business more. There is a reason they have been around for decades. We were taking a road trip when out of the blue, our sunroof broke. We stuck out the drive but since we were out of town, we were hoping to get our sunroof fixed quick. We called probably 5-6 places. Most places didn't do sunroof repairs, but the ones that did offered $500 and up for parts alone, not including labor. They said parts would take a couple days to a week to come in and labor would take a couple days. We called Fernandez and they quoted us $300 total for labor and parts and were the only ones with the glass on hand. Not even the Toyota dealership had the glass on hand, and we would have spent $2000+ if we went through the dealership. We got to Fernandez and they quoted us what they did over the phone. The repairs took about 2 hours and the glass looks great. The glass they used is used, but it looks new to me. They warned that the sunroof may not open, but I think that's because only strictly replaced the glass and don't fix the tracts. But everything works perfectly. I would highly recommend this place before trying others, as you may save a lot of time and money here first. 10/10 read more

One morning, I came out to a cracked windshield. It looked a little bit like part of a daddy long legs. I tried to not freak out. It was more towards the passenger side. The temperatures were plummeting, and I was really concerned about the ability of my windshield to hold up. I found out about Fernandez and drove over to inquire about their procedures and costs. Rosa, the office manager was fantastic. She really did her homework on that windshield! I got a quote and later called back to make an appointment for the following week. Highly recommend getting a quote from Fernandez Auto Glass & Repair if you have a sunroof (moonroof) that needs repair. By far the cheapest quote I received and the only location that had the glass replacement in stock. I did have to drop it off in the city, however, so few places actually repair sunroofs and most of them are in the city as well. My sunroof "exploded!" Yes, that's a thing! Apparently sunroofs can spontaneously shatter while you are driving when contaminants inside the glass are stressed by high temperatures. I have the recent heat wave to thank for this. I called tons of places. Most window glass repair companies do not do sunroofs. The few others that I found willing to do the work were really expensive. I am so happy I called Fernandez Auto Glass Repair after finding their number in a Yelp search!! Rosa in the office is very nice and patiently explained everything to me. Came back with a quote in minutes when other locations took 20 minutes or had to call me back with their quotes. I believe it is a used part, but looks great and saved me so much money. They warned me that the shade slider might not work after the repair, but it is working perfectly. They had the job done in one day, when everyone else said it would take a week to get the part. so i'm out cleaning snow off my car, freezing my toes off. somehow, the windshield wiper falls off. i'm sat there failing at putting it back on. call the only person worse at cars than me, my sister, to come help. we're trying to put the wiper back on when BOOM it smacks against the windshield & cracks it. my genius sister then goes to the other side (idk why the other side was perfectly fine) & then BOOM drops the wiper on the other side making another crack. now we got two cracks. but wait there's more. i recruit my 4 month old situationship to help because he should be able to do this, right ?? Outstanding!!! I whacked my 2016 Ram Pickup Passenger side mirror this week. The glass popped out and was intact, but held by defrost cable. I thought it was atotal loss, and got an estimate live from a local repair place for $700+ I went to Fernandez 25 years ago for a side mirror repair. Didn't remember the name but remembered the location so too a shot. Drove right in. Sam looked at it and said, "I can fix this! $35 if I don't break the glass trying." They installed aftermarket windows that are incompatible with my car; they close very slowly compared to the other three windows. I wish I had paid the extra $50 and had the original Toyota windows installed.They didn't offer any solution. There's a creaking sound coming from the window every time you open and close it, which is annoying, and the sound is getting louder every day. I came here to save $50, but I regret it. Fernandez Auto Glass is not the kind of place you visit for amusement; you only come when you must. Some object fell off a passing truck and shattered the rear passenger window of my Civic. I asked for recommendations on the Next Door website, and several people recommended Fernandez Auto Glass. I'm glad they did. The business is located on the east side of Western. You can't enter from the southbound lanes because of a median in the street; you need to enter from the northbound lanes. The business is not large, so stay alert, or you could pass it. Fernandez Auto Parts is strictly business. The lobby/waiting area is very basic -- uncomfortable chairs, no coffee machine, no TV or radio. I recommend bringing a book while you wait. The place looks like an auto shop should look, dark and dingy and crowded. That's actually a good thing, in my view -- the business isn't paying for irrelevant things that will eventually cost the customers. I had called just before they closed on the previous Saturday to make sure they had the correct window in stock, and they did. Since the weather was perfect, I was able to wait until Monday morning to come in. I arrived about 9:30, and I was out by 10:15am. The window cost $83.00, including tax. It works perfectly, and I am happy with the service and the result. No one wants to deal with broken windows on their cars, but if some passing truck dumps something that smashes your window while you're merging onto I-80, go to Fernandez Auto Parts. read more

Excellent. They did a good job, carefully and quickly. The price was reasonable. Beat out the big competitors like Safelite and Gerber. I would highly recommend these guys. No frills. No nonsense. A big win. Only negative is that if you have one of those sensor modules on the windshield, it usually needs to be recalibrated after a windshield change. They don't do that service, so you would have to go to dealer or somewhere else to have this done. Whatever. Let me tell you, this place is TOP TIER! My boyfriend had has car window smashed in and they were able to replace it in under and hour, less than $150! They also took the time to clean all the glass off the carpet and rearrange the papers that had been rummaged through in the car. Such a nice gesture. The workers are really nice. Waited in the waiting room with a book. Could have walked over to the theater or the shopping center but decided to just wait. Took about 2 hours. Car was fixed and I was back on the road! They do use a third party window. Tint matches the other window and everything. Only slight issue I had was a vibrating noise from the glass when I'm driving over 50 mph. I called up and they told me to come in for them to take a look at it and adjust as necessary. Well, basically I'm confused. I read all of the five-star reviews here about this company, and naively thought it would be the ideal place to take my car to have my rear window trim replaced--yes, the trim only--not the glass. It should have been so simple. I've spent over two years and more than $15,000 restoring my 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora, as sort of a hobby. This horrible quality work is what Fernandez Auto Glass & Repair did to my car (see photos), and to my $4,600 paint job. "Factory perfect installation" they say? No. "High quality workmanship?" Hmmm, this was a fun one. Wish I had known about Fernandez the last few times my car's been violated, but alas I am just stumbling upon it now. After a sweetheart of a gal (heavy sarcasm) opened her door into traffic (me), I was in a pickle. Winter weather, busted out window = no good. As much as I enjoyed the trashy look of driving around with a garbage bag duct taped to the door, I do have a few shreds of dignity left when it comes to my car. (not much, but still) I yelp searched "auto glass repair" and up came Fernandez. They do used glass, I didn't even know this type of shop existed. Seriously, it's like thrift store shopping for car parts, except they just do the shopping and installation. Genius. I got out of there for under $115 (ummm...what!?), and they installed the passenger window, and replaced the side mirror entirely...they even vacuumed. Bonus, 'cause I hate vacuuming my car in the winter....or anytime for that matter, but the crunchy glass slivers all over the car were troublesome. The best part? Under an hour start to finish. It's a rare pleasure to leave a review that says what all the other reviews have already said: that all the 5-star reviews of this place are thoroughly deserved. And they are. Woke up to discover that some miscreant had smashed out the passenger side windows of a bunch of cars in my parking garage, including mine, and looted the interiors. Went through the five stages of grief, vacuumed out the broken glass, hit the yelps, and then called up Fernandez. They quoted me a figure that was hundreds less than what my dealer gave, and told me to come in the next morning. Was in an out in about an hour. Parts and labor (for new glass, but they also offer used) came out to less than the pair of sunglasses that got swiped. The only negative about the whole experience that I can think of is that there's an adorable garage cat that has free roam of the waiting room (see pic), and I'm allergic to cats. But I know most people on the internet love cats and would consider this a bonus, so I'm still giving the place 5-stars. read more

I visited earlier this year when I noticed my windshield was developing a crack. I was going to first contact one of the chain places, but instead I decided to look up high rated places in the Logan Square area on Yelp. This place had so many positive reviews, that I knew I had to give this place a chance. I arrived within an hour of their opening on a Saturday morning so that I could hopefully avoid a crowd. I pulled in the garage, and after the manager examined my windshield, he told me that the whole windshield could be replaced for $125. I thought this was a pretty reasonable price, so I left my car with him. I went to my gym around the corner and in less than 2 hours my car was finished. I came back to a line of cars out into the street, so I definitely came at a good time. I was driving to Naperville later that evening on the highway , so the manager advised me to not drive over 70mph for a day or so. Overall, I would say I had a great experience and would recommend this place to anyone in need of new glass on their car. read more

Some jackass thought it would be a great idea and break my passenger side window to get to my workbag this past Thursday night. I shopped around on a few websites to see who does good work and these guys popped up. I called and they quoted me around $75 or so. I drove my broken window vehicle over and rolled inside. All of the guys seemed to be on lunch at 2PM which I found interesting. Once they got to me vehicle, the damn thang got did within 45 mins as they also vaccumed the glass out of my car.
