I see this business has a very high rating and I was referred to Steve to fix my classic car. However, I did not have a good experience with him and would never go back. I brought my car in in mid-December because the alternator stopped working, the cruise control did not work, and a fuse had gone out. I waited three weeks for an appointment. I brought the car in, he had it for two days and called me He has to order a new alternator. OK, no problem. The cruise control he fixed. I have not been able to test. The fuses are all fine. As soon as I got in the car, I could tell that was not true. But here was the clincher. He said he would order a new alternator and for me to come in after January 6, 2020. After Christmas, Dec 2019, I called him to see if we were still on for the 6th. Right away, he started talking down to me. I just asked if we were still on for the 6th. He said, the alternator did come in but the entire tone of his voice from the minute I told him who I was was derogatory. He said, I need a few days off, don't bother me. Here's my thoughts. If he did not want to be bothered, don't answer the phone. Leave a message were closed. That's all. But he took this opportunity to treat me - who could have been very lucrative customer - as a piece of crap. I've been self-employed all my life. You don't treat customers like that. I won't put up with that from any business owner and neither should you. read more

Our car was rear ended, and I was looking for a local alternative to the auto body shop I've used in the past and found Miller Enterprises nearby. Other Yelpers had good things to say as well. I'm happy to confirm that they are all correct. Steve is the point man for the shop, and actually came walking out the door to meet me when I pulled up without an appointment. He wrote up an estimate for me on the spot and had me on my way in less than 15 minutes and even apologized for the delay! I compared his quote to one from my old shop and found that where the old shop was going to somehow repair the existing bumper, whereas Steve recommended replacing the entire cover right away. To me, this showed his attention to getting the job done right, and not just covering up the damage. If you care about your car, this is the guy you want looking after it. Steve is very friendly and great with communication, taking my phone calls, or answering my emails. I appreciate this a lot. I can't count the number of businesses i've reached out to via email only to have it ignored. For me at least, it's a very convenient and valued form of communication. Steve ordered the necessary parts ahead of time and we scheduled a time for the repairs after he had everything on hand. He offered me multiple ways to go about the repairs in order to save me time without my car. I wasn't really in a hurry, but even so, once I dropped it off, Steve had the work done a day early and everything looks perfect. Can't ask more from an auto body shop. Fast, friendly, efficient, and thorough, service. When our warranty is up, I plan on looking to Steve to also service my vehicle as it's a full service shop. Asked for an estimate and without ever even seeing my car I was told by Steve that it will probably take a long time to replace the aftermarket fenders on my jeep because they are full of rust. I don't have a speck of rust anywhere on my garage kept 2011 Jeep Wrangler (which is my second car and not a daily driver). How could you assume a vehicle with only 25,000 miles is full of rust and why would I want to put $3,000 worth of aftermarket accessories on a rusted car? He was the highe$t e$timate I received. Maybe I caught him on a bad, he was being extremely rude. He also told me I didn't know what I was talking about when I explained to him the installation process for spring spacers (essentially a 2" lift for a jeep). Well I completely rebuilt my previous project jeep myself so I know a thing or two about cars and I would have this done in 15mins but my condo association will not allow automobile repairs to be done in the parking garage. About a month ago, my 2009 Dodge Charger was hit by a CTA bus. I was so embarrassed to drive the car I immediately went to Yelp to find someone to fix it asap. I decided to call Miller Enterprises since they had the best reviews and were the closest to me. It was very early in the morning when I called, and I was shocked when Steve answered the phone before 8 am. I explained my situtation to him and he asked me to come to his shop. I was immediately impressed with his sense of humor and his willingness to assist me . Within 15 minutes of arriving Steve had prepared an estimate of how much the damages would cost. I left my car with him and took the bus home. I checked on him a few times and each time he had done work on my car much faster than I had expected. When my car was finally done it looked (and drove!) as if I was never in an accident. And the final price was actually LESS than his estimate! Several days after I took my car home I received a letter from Miller Enterprises thanking me for bringing my car to them. I HIGHLY recommend these guys!! Thank you, Yelp, for steering me to the alley behind Timber Lanes. My wife had the misfortune of causing an accident a few weeks ago on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The car was pretty horrible looking, and luckily, since it was Saturday, most repair shops were closed, it was close enough to home that I was able to drive it back on side streets. Once the claim was filed I went straight to Yelp to find an auto body shop in the neighborhood. There were a few options, some even closer than Miller, but when reading the reviews I knew Miller was the place for the Corolla get fixed. I waited til Monday morning, called Steve at about 7am (love that the shop is open at 6am, by the way) to make sure he dealt with Geico, and I was more than convinced that Miller was the place to go after our conversation. I dropped the car off a little later that morning and had it back in less than two weeks (I imagine it would have been less time if we didn't play phone tag with Geico for two or three days). Not only does the car look like it was never in an accident, but Steve was a big help throughout the whole process. We had never had to deal with my insurance company before, so Steve was nice enough to let us know what needed to be done and how things usually worked while working through a claim. All in all, a great experience. We'll be using Miller for all of our future auto repair needs. read more

I honestly feel ridiculously lucky to have found this hidden gem so close to my house. Steve and his team are excellent and I can't thank them enough for a job well done. He really worked with me on my budget and brought my car to life again- and fast! I got into my first accident ever a few months after moving to Chicago. The worst. This happened just days after my battery was giving me trouble and my car wouldn't start. Then my plates expired. It was a bad week. Since my car could still drive if jumped (even though it looked awful and wasn't technically road-legal), I found the closest mechanic and got an estimate from Steve. He was incredibly nice and honest about everything I would have to get done (and even things I could live without..). My insurance wouldn't cover any of it so it was all out of pocket and he was very understanding. Then life happened. I couldn't get my car fixed for a few months and left it in a friends garage. Fast forward to 6 months later and I called in and dropped my car off. Before even looking at the car he immediately remembered me and my estimate! Aside from the damage to the hood and headlight, and a dead battery, I also added oil change to the list. In addition, as my car was getting towed to the shop I noticed a flat tire (ugh..). Steve had my car for maybe a week and even waited until after the shop was closed for me to run over and pick it up. The tire just needed air and the cost was well below what I had expected! Seriously the nicest man alive. I missed my car so much and I'm so glad I went to Steve. I am absolutely bringing it back if I need anything else. After I had reached out to my friends on Twitter and Facebook for a place that does brake repairs in Lakeview, I was referred here and another place. I was given the same estimate by both, but decided on Miller because of the reviews and that they had a website. When I inquired about the estimate for my '07 Toyota, he also mentioned that he uses the Toyota brake pads ordered straight from Schaumburg. (Yay!) He kept me updated throughout the few hours while my car was in his care. I dropped my car off around 8 in the morning and within 30 minutes he had called to confirm my suspicions of needing new brakes for my 07 Toyota. He also mentioned that I was about 500 miles away from needing a new oil change (according to the sticker...) I declined the oil change since I had a little longer than that from what my dad has told me about Toyota cars and oil changes. The total at the end of the day ended up coming in UNDER his estimate. He also showed my dad and I the brake pads and rotors and that I was lucky to have caught it when I did (the one brake pad was grinding...never good!). They are really hidden unless you know the area then he is easy to find. He lost his main entrance when the CTA was doing their reconstruction of the Irving Park station so the best way to get there if you need to find him is Irving Park to Wolcott, then first left into the alley. He told me the directions and they were perfect. Thanks Steve! He also made me feel at home since we had a mechanic in the suburbs who was very personal with the customers and got to know them. About a year ago I took my car into another dealership to have my breaks service. Bad idea. Recently I heard squeaking coming from my breaks which I thought was odd because I just had them serviced. Miller Enterprises came highly recommended by my co workers so I figured I would give the place a try. BOY AM I GLAD I DID. I had literally driven the brakes off my car (think no metal left on the rotors OUCH) and it required a lot of work. Steve was knowledgeable, honest, and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. Many years ago I had an unbelievably bad experience with a body shop. Too crazy to describe. So, I have taken my car and my woes to Miller's a number of times. Fortunately, I did not have the sort of accident that required an overhaul. They are honest and will offer the pros and cons of the options. So at least once I took their advice and did not do the cosmetic repair. When they did make repairs, they were done well. I did not need to return for a "fix." This place is great! Steve is a straight shooter who is the OPPOSITE of "money grubbing mechanic". After I noticed a small oil leak, I took my mercedes to another mechanic who is convinced I need an est. $2700 in repairs (I won't bore you with details) and that I had to repair it asap. Steve said the problem is anything but urgent and I could get away with an oil sealer. He could have easily gouged me, but didn't charge me a dime. WOW! Excellent, professional, honest service! Let me preface this by saying Steve is a very nice person. He's great at customer service and has a great demeanor. He probably makes a wonderful father or grandfather. The ratings make my wonder a couple things 1.) How many of these reviews were written by those who had insurance cover the cost? and 2.) How many of these people got multiple quotes? My car was leaking coolant. He said I would need a new water pump, new "waterpump housing", and that he'd have to replace the timing belt since it was now "contaminated" with coolant. I had the timing belt replaced at 85,000 and my car had just reached 100k. He said it would be at least $1,000 to fix this because it would require many hours of labor to take the engine apart and replace everything. He also said that if I didn't do this soon, I would ruin the engine. (Makes sense, ok.) While looking at this he also said my front right axle was broken, and that he'd have to replace the WHOLE THING which would cost $600-700. So now we're looking at $1,600 in repairs. Let me remind you: Toyota Camry, barely 100,000 miles, pristine body condition. I'm visibly upset, because that's a lot of money to put into a used car. I start thinking to myself, "should I just buy a new car?". Steve then told me, "I wouldn't even fix it if I were you" and that "I know someone that could probably give you $500 for it." Let me make this long story short by telling you I got EVERYTHING fixed at a place up in Evanston (555 N. Howard) for $500. The mechanic came recommended by an old friend who has lived in the city his entire (72 year long) life. Water pump/housing/coolant leak: $350 (Didn't need a new timing belt) Broken axle: Actually just needed a new boot. $125 Coolant: $20 Oil change: $15 It's 3 months later and my car is running great. The mechanic showed me exactly what was broken, what needed to be fixed, and WHAT DIDN'T. He even told me that if I couldn't afford the repair there was a $30 bottle of fluid I could put through the cooling system that would stop the leak temporarily. Steve didn't mention this. I know Steve does excellent work, but I suspect he may do "extra" work because he's used to dealing with insurance companies. It was also a red flag when he offered to buy my car. Just be wary, do your homework, and be sure to get a second (or third) opinion before you opt for the big repair. read more
