The perils of city life that no one warns you about.. You kind of anticipate that street parking means your car will get dinged up a bit, but it's a real sucker punch when you go to get in your car and find that someone side swiped you, took your mirror, and left damage to all four panels in a hit and run. And if you have my luck it happens twice! As a young woman who knows nothing about cars, going to the body shop can be intimidating. Both times, however, Tigers has taken care of me with transparency and professionalism. Start by bringing it in for an estimate -- no appointment needed. If you call ahead, you'll just be told "anytime". The assessment will be quick, and in under 20 minutes you'll have a quote and an appointment to bring it back for the actual work. (Yes, the appointment might be a couple days out. They're busy because they're GOOD.) In my case, a four panel replacement was expected to take 3-4 days. I had plans to be out of town, and the team was completely understanding about my need to leave it there for an extra day or two until I returned. In the short amount of time I spent in the office, a crew member or two floated in or out with smiles on their faces, cracking jokes, making me feel completely at ease. You can tell the team gets along well and generally just seem to enjoy being there. Greg also took the time to discuss my options with me (insurance vs out of pocket, what could be done to bring the cost down while managing the essentials, and explaining the different steps that must be taken for either option). When I came back for pickup a few days later, I found my car looking good as new. Maybe it's because I'm repeat business, but when it was time to pay up I was told it was discounted. I was incredibly grateful -- but imagine how much more grateful I was when I actually got in the car to drive home... And found that the crew had detailed the interior, too! Truly above and beyond, the nicest team, just carrying on the family legacy and happy to be doing it. I'll never take my car anywhere else and I'll vouch for Tiger's every time. read more

I was quoted a very fair price after stopping by for inspection, and was able to schedule drop off right away. I had such high hopes for this place. Tiger's Body Shop has excellent Yelp reviews, and the staff really was so responsive and friendly. However, in my emails I specifically requested a quote for gloss black painted racing stripes for my car. We agreed on a price and I dropped off my car on a Monday. It was finished on Friday and I was so bummed to find that all the shop did was replace the current vinyl racing stripe with more Matte black vinyl. The entire stripe wasn't even replaced, only the hood and the top of the car. Really disappointed, especially when we have the written confirmation that the service was supposed to be for a "gloss black painted stripe." read more

Went to Tiger's for an estimate after my bumper was damaged in a hit and run incident. After giving me an estimate for paint, they checked my bumper, cleaned it, and told me it didn't need any repair at all, that the scuffs rubbed off when cleaned. And they didn't charge me anything! They totally could have taken advantage of me, or charged me a fee for their time, but they didn't! They were honest and they totally cared about customer service! My Prius had a minor scratch on the right rear and a tinier one on the front left side. After reading the glowing Yelp reviews I brought it in for an estimate. One of the owners checked it out and said the front left scratch could be buffed out and that he would only charge me for the paint mixture For the rear right. The estimate was very low so I brought my car in two days later. When I picked it up, same day, I saw a small bottle of leftover paint in the car! Above and beyond. When it was time to settle up I offered the, presumably, other owner more than I was being charged. He turned it down. Many of us are not "car guys" and are at the mercy of the shop on price. Went to these guys to fix a small scratch on the bumper and a minor crack in the driver's side rear-view mirror of my Q50. They were able to hand buff out the bumper right there. Checked out the mirror and determined it would be about $300 to replace the part plus labor, and they just recommended I try to glue it myself first before I spend all the money on replacement. Did just that, and worked out great. They didn't charge me anything, even after I offered. So great to work with an honest business that is looking out for your best interests, doesn't try to fleece you, and gives you honest advice and free assistance, even if that costs them a sale. This is a high-character operation, and I will absolutely be back here next time I have a more significant fix that needs attention. read more

I will never go to a dealer for body work again after my great experience this week at Tiger's. For some unexplained reason, the width of my garage door opening shrunk. So, when I pulled into my parking space as usual, I smashed off the entire passenger side mirror mechanism. Tiger's couldn't help me figure out why the garage opening got so much smaller but they WERE able to replace the damage for hundreds of dollars less than I would have paid at the dealer. Tiger's fixed me right up. They got the new components quickly, then painted the outside mirror cover to match. It was taken apart then put all back together in about an hour and a half. There's no fancy waiting room with luxurious sofas, new car brochures and an espresso machine, but the Dunkin Donuts two blocks away was a fine place to wait. Co-owner Steve (son of the late Tiger who started the business) was a great guy and the person who did the labor a real pro. read more

Why getting a quote from Tiger's is a requirement and not an option: 1. Ease: My car got checked out and I left with a quote in hand in all of about 10 minutes. No waiting in a lobby for someone to be free or taking forever to generate your quote. 2. Value: The quote I got was so well priced that I was almost concerned, but please see point 3. 3. Quality: The job was done perfectly, I can't even tell where the damage was before, or that there was ever a patch job done. Went here for a bumper crack and multiple scratches from the lovely parallel Parkers on my street. Both owners were extremely nice to me and quote was exactly what final cost was. Took 2 days to complete which again was exactly what they said. They do plastic welding so the bumper looks brand new and I didn't have to buy a brand new one! Was about $400 for paint and plastic welding all together. I highly recommend! The only negative I can even think of is the (sometimes) tough parking situation due to their location. 'Twas a frigid and dank January day, and a scraping was emanating from everywhere and nowhere while tooling along in my state of the art hotrod* (* this is quite likely puffery and potentially misleading about the auto in question), knowing Tiger's was nearby, I drove straight there. Did I accidentally pass their driveway , you ask? Why yes, perhaps I did. Anyway, when I finally returned, they appeared to have pity on me and took a look at my stock car's undercarriage. Aside from not wearing facemasks around customers (which is totally unacceptable), they also forgot about my car, lost my key, and told the insurance company the job was done when they hadn't even started it. As a result of their mistakes, a 2.5 day job took 7 days to complete, and I had to pay $130 out-of-pocket to extend my rental car that the insurance wouldn't cover. I attended a friend's wedding in BFE-Iowa and had to leave my car parked in the lot of the hotel where everyone was staying. When I came out to the car the next morning, I noticed a small dent in my door, accompanied by a long and deep scratch (all the way down to the surface metal). It looked like someone had sideswiped my car with a heavy and hard-sided suitcase, leaving an ugly gash in my door...and then they just walked away. I was appalled and couldn't believe that people could be such a-holes like this...but then I remembered where I was and had to accept the fact that I really was standing in the parking lot of a riverboat casino hotel in Bettendorf, Iowa. Once I got home, I tried to buff the scratch and pull the dent out by myself, but I soon realized the job was way bigger than my DIY Auto Mechanic's hat could handle and that it would definitely require professional work. So with that, I read all the reviews for body shops in Chicago on Yelp and decided Tiger's would get my business. The entire process was quick and painless. I took my car in there early one morning on a Tuesday, got an estimate for $340 (slightly cheaper than I thought it would be) and decided to just leave it for the work to be done. By Thursday afternoon, it was completely fixed and ready for pick-up. The door looks brand-spankin' new, with a fresh coat of shiny black onyx paint on it and no evidence of scratches or denting to be seen. The only downside to this place is that they are located in a tricky spot (on the busy corner of Lincoln/Addison/Ravenswood and under the train tracks). Finding a place to park on the street can be challenging, and while it would seem to make the most sense for you to pull into their garage, they happen to have a garage full of cars and other repair jobs that prevent you from actually doing so, making street parking mandatory. They should either expand, buy a lot for parking, or move to a new location that provides this. Or, at the very least, they should tell people about the parking procedure and give them pointers prior to their arrival. All in all, I still have to give them 5 stars for being incredibly quick, reasonably affordable and doing high-quality work. read more
