DO NOT TRUST THEIR WORK!!! This review is long over due. I was in an accident in October of 25 and at the suggestion brought my car to Gerber for the repairs. I chose the highest rated Gerber in my area even if it wasn't the closest. Only to receive a call a day after drop off that my car was being taken 45 minutes away cause they actually were too busy to work on my car. So it was brought to a lower rated shop without my consent. Multiple times I was told my car would be ready in a specific day and received NO notice that it was delayed. I got out of work early for pick up and arranged rides with friends. Only to find out my car wasn't even ready. When it was done 3 weeks later they drove (not towed) it back to the WRONG Gerber. So I then had to drive to a third Gerber for pick up. After pick up I took my car to be looked and elsewhere and was told I had severe bad alignment in my front tires -interestingly enough the same part of my car that was hit. I called Gerber to ask if they checked my alignment I was told they couldn't legally tell me, a separate time I was told u can't mess up ur alignment in an accident, I was told they would have someone call me back. I called 4 times and was never given an answer as to the repair. Finally in December tow months after my accident I was called to get my alignment fixed. Only to find out the only place I could go was 50 minutes from my home. Then after my appointment they called saying I owed 500$!!! They had lost my original payment for my deductible. They corrected the situation and offered to try and refund me for my deductible cause of my troubles and to look at my car again. I called after the holidays to go through with the process and never heard back. Now I've had to pay to get my car checked out elsewhere and can't trust my original repairs there. Also found it strange that ok pickup my car magically had a small crack in the windshield after being worked on by a glass shop... read more

Unfortunately, and fortunately, I've had the opportunity to use Gerber in the past for two separate accidents. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the resulting bodywork is great. Since 2018, though, I no longer considered Gerber for any repair work. While the integrity of the business is present in the work they do, it is a perpetual contradiction to their presence in the community. Gerber parks their vehicles in the lot at N. Willard Ct. and N. Milwaukee Ave. and fails to maintain it season after season. We have contacted the Department of Streets and Sanitation and the alderman's office to clean up the lot, cut down overgrown weeds, replace the dilapidated fences, and remove the heroin needles, and have not received a fair response. We are proud to own a home in the River West neighborhood. It's a shame that our children are at risk while walking around the lot, and neighbors have to live with the presence of an unkept junkyard on their street. Gerber refuses to contribute to the beauty and safety as a neighbor, and we couldn't be more disappointed as a community. read more

My parents had a good experience here years ago, but something changed. They were so difficult to do business with throughout the entire process of a simple bumper replacement. Most notably, a Gerber technician caused an additional $1,300 worth of damage to my vehicle that the Chrysler dealership had to repair. The dealership said Gerber caused the damage, and Aaron, the manager at Gerber, accepted responsibility for it. He promised me a reimbursement and updates; it's been weeks and no response. Now when I call them for updates, I can call 4 times in a row and no one picks up the phone at Gerber until I use *67 to hide my caller ID. Then that gets them to answer after just two rings and transfer me to Aaron who then immediately hung up on me. Stay away from this place; they do more harm to your car than good! read more

With huge disappointment I must report this. I needed a new windshield, and the newer cars are forced to get what is called "calibration" for car cameras and for safety reasons. Understandably. They do NOT have the ability to perform this onsite but at only two (2) locations. One is in Evanston, other is in Elmhurst. In effect, you must either go to those locations for service or have windshield replaced then drive out for the required/necessary calibration. My service tech told me call Safelite glass repair instead. So I did. BEWARE if you need this done, be sure you know what's in store. This caused me to find another place even, though I have used and had excellent service through Gerber in the past. They lost another customer. oh well. FOLLOW UP 4/24/24 I was contacted by Mr. Jesse who was very upset that I went elsewhere. As I stated, I used Gerber in past with awesome service. Clearly, they have great insight as to what great customer service should look like. I appreciated the fact they reached out to address my concern, it counts A LOT. I took my car in after an accident. when I picked it up the button for airflow wasn't working. I called to tell them I was met with gas lighting. wasn't there fault and if it wasnt caused by the accident I would have to pay everything. then my break light went off. I called again and same response. so not knowing I took to get scanned at another shop. turns out they put a part in my car that's the wrong component and effecting my RF Hub! they don't know what they are doing, blaming the owner and awful service. do not go here. read more

I chose Gerber Collision based on Google reviews and proximity... it was a great decision and I would recommend Chris & Omar by name to a friend. Customer service and quality go a long way but not always easy to find. We were grateful for not only the work done but the open line of communication and updates from Gerber was A+. We were planning to trade in our car after the repairs but decided to keep it because they did such a great job! I was rear ended by another vehicle while I was at a left hand turn, stopped. My car baby Hymie (yes I name my car) now had a hole on the rear bumper on the right side. The tire was exposed and the actual bumper itself was inverted and scraping the tire, making the car disabled. I had to drive it home, very very slowly and leave it parked until the tow truck could come and pick it up. The tow truck dropped me at Gerber and having explained what had happened in detail, I felt at ease as Raul gave me the low down on the procedure to follow. They sent for Enterprise to pick me up and get me into a rental during the service of my car. When my car was ready to be picked up, I gave it my thorough inspection. The bumper was brand new, and they replaced the tire as well. The traction control light appeared though, and the specialty MINI decorative pressure cap was missing on the new tire/ wheel. They ended up fixing the traction alert, and paid to replace all the tire pressure caps. About a year later I'm writing this, and my car drives fine, the work they did still looks good. Recently someone had taken the front mirrored trim completely off my car! Bastards. I had to order a replacement online, and I brought it back to Gerber, and Raul happily installed it no charge. I have had nothing but excellent customer service from these guys. If they don't get something right the first time, they are fully on board to correct any issues. I have been a very satisfied customer and will continue to go back if I need anything else! read more

On February 20 I was involved in a rear-end collision and I needed the car towed. The driver that hit me and I both had USAA insurance and Gerber was a preferred vendor so the car was brought there. For what I thought was minor damage took about a month to fix. Luckily my insurance covered the rental car for the two weeks so I was ok waiting. On March 11 I was finally able to pick up my vehicle during my lunch break at work. The car looked great! It's hard to believe it was even damaged. I appreciated that they cleaned both the inside and outside of the car as well. I drove back to work and did notice how much faster the right turn signal light dinged and blinked compared to the left but I figured it's just how it's going to be. Later on that day as I was leaving from work I noticed that the rear light didn't blink when I turned on or off the alarm. The whole light on the side that was damaged didn't work at all. I called Gerber about the issue and they said I could bring my car in at 6pm, even though they officially 'closed' at 5:30pm. When I arrived there I waited for about 15 minutes. I was told that one of the bulbs was out and it was the one that was "the hardest to get to." After they replaced it the blinker light sound and speed went back to normal. Although the whole ordeal that afternoon was an inconvenience the staff was nice and the car looks great. I didn't have to pay for the repairs and for two weeks I was able to drive around in a brand new rental car. Life is good. read more

Great experience. Just picked up my car, after fixing a fender bender. I was on the on Ohio St. ramp, stopped, in stop and go rush hour traffic, when the front of the car behind me, for what ever reason, crashed into the back pumper of my car. My insurance is with Statefarm. Lucky for me no was inguired and not too much damage. The car that hit my car, was also insured with Statefarm. Within hours of calling in the claim to Statefarm, they called me back with a recommended place to take my car, Gerber C&G on Huron. I arrived at my appointment ontime, and Chris, the estimator was a gentlemen, quick, professional, and answered all my questions. We also set up a date for me to bring back my car to get fixed. My first experience here was a repair they completed for me after my car was involved in a side swipe accident. They restored my 2017 Toyota Highlander to pristine condition. The experience was great, mostly elevated by their customer service and professional touch. Fast forward to now, I just purchased a 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid, Pearl White, pristine, but into 2 weeks of having my new vehicle, someone bumped and scuffed the back driver side of my vehicle pretty good while parked. I was devastated. Definitely not enough damage to go through insurance, but since I felt good about my experience with Gerber, they were my first stop to get an out of pocket estimate to repair the damage. Chris, who was very personable, and energetic, and professional, in line with what I experienced customer service wise before, came to assess my vehicle. To my surprise and thrill, he looked at my vehicle, gave me a brilliant, kind smile and said to give him 20 minutes to see what he can do. What?!?! He came back in 20 minutes, and my vehicle was beautiful again! No charge, just kindness and goodwill. I am so grateful and impressed and again, Gerber Collision's staff has left another indelible mark on me. I won't hesitate to seek them out for any of my needs, in the rare occasion it is necessary in the future, however, I won't hesitate to refer them to anyone who is in need of repair for their vehicle. ***UPDATE*** Issue was resolved after follow up from Gerber's Corporate Office*** Should have followed my first mind and taken my vehicle elsewhere. Repairs took longer than quoted and less than 2 days after pickup one of the parts broke. The Manager Danny advised, they only warranty the work not the parts. He offered to find out if their vendor warranties parts. Why wouldn't he know that and why wouldn't they use warranted parts??? The replacement part was substandard to the original part. Insurance repairs were 50% lower priced than retail, it all makes sense now. I would not recommend this business. read more

Gerber was great to work with after my car accident. They were recommended as one of the shops near me that worked with my insurance, and I'm glad we went with them! There is a easy and convenient (and Sade during COVID) car drop area so that you can drop your car off at your convenience. They were very responsive to our calls and the two insurance companies we were dealing with. I thought that the quote they gave for my car was fair. Rasha was the main person we worked with, and I cannot recommend her highly enough if you've been in an accident. During a stressful time she made sure things went as smoothly as possible which we really appreciated. Hopefully will not need them again for a damage quote, but we will definitely be returning for any routine car work we need. read more

Avoid this place! I brought my vehicle in for an estimate after it was involved in an accident. Parts were ordered and I was scheduled to bring it back 3 weeks later. Three days before I was scheduled to drop it off I called to verify the parts were in and was told that they were. I dropped it off as planned. I didn't want to leave my vehicle just sitting there waiting for parts. After 2 weeks they called and said that the body work was done and that it was headed to the paint department and that it should be ready to pick up in 2 weeks. Because I had not heard anything from them 2 days before I was supposed to pick it up I called them. I was told they were "waiting for a part" and it should be in the following week. They said they would call, they didn't. I had to call them again, then I was told that now they had to order another new door and that they would call me back, again nothing. I called them again and Ricky said he would run across the street and talk to the technician and that he would call me back, he never did. I finally got my vehicle back 4 weeks after the original date it was supposed to be done. The final bill was almost $3k over the original estimate and I had the rental car for 4 weeks longer too. I also noticed a couple of things that didn't appear to be right. There was a $185. charge on the bill for a wheel alloy and my vehicle had the same one on as before. It had the scratch marks as before so I know it was not replaced. There was also a charge for $180. for a new tire. It looked like a "new to you" tire. To me it doesn't look brand new and it doesn't match my other 3 tires, which are not that old. I don't know if they are incompetent, shady or both. My insurance was not paying for this but someones insurance was and it's too bad. No wonder the cost of car insurance is so high. But I do know that I don't recommend them and will never go back there. I hope this post well spare someone the aggravation that I experienced. read more

Stay away- far far away. Took vehicle in minor body work and car came out in worst shape. Tire literally fell off on the highway due to their negligence. I should have known from the start... this was a recommended approved shop from my insurance that was near my residence so seemed great. Obviously too good to be true. Never followed up to book original estimate appointments so finally called and got an appointment after 2 weeks. Ridiculously wrong timeline given for repairs- one day by a certain project manager turned into 2 weeks without any explanation and zero help with a rental upon that information. Lots of misinformation via text about the completion timeline and an extra service we agreed to was not completed despite arrangements that it would be paid for outside of insurance. But I let that roll because it was extra but finally got car back and the wheel in the repaired area literally falls off on the highway. So dangerous. I had my wife and several work colleagues in the car so it was simply negligent and put all of them at risk. I can not stress enough that this location seems willing to disregard standards and good service for your insurance company's dime. You can charge them for the laser scan alignment all you want but if you don't properly tighten the bolts on a tire after 5 weeks of process, you're missing something. Again I would recommend staying as far away as possible from this shop for you and your loved ones' safety and well-being. read more

I am so pleased with how my car looks, the service, & how fast they were at getting it repaired. Came here 3 weeks ago for an estimate. I stupidly forgot the name of the employee who did the estimate on my car. The employee said he would fax over the estimate to the insurance company who will be paying for the repairs on my car. I received a call from the insurance company last week, informing me that they still haven't received an estimate. When I called Gerber to get a follow up on my car, they were unable to find me in their system. This was a huge waste of my time, I made an appointment, waited for them to fax the insurance company. Only to find out that they never did a damn thing and lost my information. There are other auto repair companies waiting to take the money. Don't waste your time here! I think what made it worse, was the lack of care from the receptionist. She didn't bother to apologize or act concerned. They simply don't care or value the time of their customers. read more

Cleaned all the loose glass. Had the glass in ,in30 minutes like brand new. So professional,nice and thoughtful!I am happy to recommend them. I brought my car here when my catalytic convertor got stolen (hooray...) because AAA recommended it, and it wasn't too far. I was told that it would be a pretty straightforward fix, but they'd have to keep my car over the weekend. When I got it back, I didn't have to drive very far to notice that something sounded off. I immediately went back, and sure enough they realized that there was some loose part that they didn't notice stuck in the CC they installed.....basically because of their own carelessness in not checking it before they installed it. Wow. They said it'd be an easy repair. After they re-fixed it, I asked the manager how I'd be guaranteed that some careless mistake like that wouldn't happen again, he said that it just wouldn't. Totally reassuring... Considering their mistake, the entire weekend I didn't have my car, and the extra CTA journey I had to take...I don't think I'll be returning. read more
