I got one estimate for over $3,000 so I filed a claim with Allstate, and they recommended Gerber. I dropped the car off and the waiting begun. They sent me periodic text updates as to the status. They had to order the bumper from Kia. After 4 weeks Kia still didn't have a delivery date, so they asked if I want them to fix the existing bumper as best they can and then they would replace the bumper when the new one came in. When I got the car back, I was shocked to see that I couldn't see anything wrong with the bumper, they did an amazing job. As far as I am concerned the car is fixed to my satisfaction and I know that when my lease is up later this year it would pass inspection, but I'm told that the bumper will be in sometime in March and we have to get it replaced because the insurance company has already paid for it. Based on my experience, I would highly recommend Gerber Collision and Glass for all your autobody work. They are courteous, can provide rental cars, and do outstanding work. read more

Impressed! My new to me Mercedes needed some badly touched up door chips fixed. The folks in the Wilmington shop were the best to deal with from the initial look at the car and all through the final repairs. -Excellent customer service from all involved, including detailed updates throughout the process. Other shops should follow this approach. -A small job, but treated like a big job, scheduled and performed to schedule. Nice, no delay surprises. -Clear instruction on future washes and waxes were provided, showing they care about their work after you drive away. -Insurance handling was painless. I was in a car accident, and they had to take my car here since it was closer to where I was at the time. (Mind you I was on vacation with a friend so I lived in Charlotte at the time) they aren't good with keeping in touch with you first thing. Secondly they messed up my car twice. The third time they said they fixed it well, lol nope. When I had to put new headlights in I was told that bolts were missing and that nothing was in place and that was extremely dangerous. So, lesson learned. I will NEVER come here to have my car fixed again. read more

I had bumper damage. They replaced it, but it worked itself loose. They replace it again, but it worked itself loose again. Before i could take the car there a 3rd time, my girlfriend totaled it. Maybe it would have had the same problem at other garages. read more

This is a follow up to my last. Nothing happened to fix the mis-repaired car in Florida. I moved back to North Carolina and was told to take the car to the Gerber on Market Street. I did and they rented me a car and said they would make it right. I went to pick up my car and they repaired one fender and not the other. When I pointed this out, they said they would take care of it, go back again. When I arrived and viewed the car, it looked fine. As I rode down the road and tried to put my seatbelt on, I realized they were put behind the plastic panels. When I got home I had to remove the panels and put the seatbelts back in their correct position. Why would they do this? Then I went to put down the rear window down (they fixed the two front fenders) and it would not go down or would it lock. When I took the rubber boot off that runs the wires through, all electrical connections were disconnected (WHY). Now after one week the door is not closing properly, the door rubs with fender and when I investigated I noticed it was not connected at the bottom. IF you have ANY SENSE, YOU WILL RUN LIKE H - - - FROM THIS COMPANY. read more

Worst place ever!!!! They have had my vehicle for almost 6 weeks. They didn't communicate with us about the actual start date and started working on the vehicle 1 week after they were supposed to. They "broke" a part that they were supposed to be fixing convieniently in the day that I was supposed to get my vehicle back. They never communicated that with me and I showed up to pick up my vehicle. If you value your time and money you would not take your car there! Stay away!!! read more

We took my car to Gerber on recommendation from my insurance company for side-swipe damage. I told them the week before that I would need it back within the time quoted as my wedding was the following weekend. We got it back with damage that was missed- including scratches and dents on door handles and the rear bumper and found new dents on the interior of the door that weren't there prior to dropping it off. The manger told us that the interior damages had been noted but they just hadn't gotten to them yet. While they did work with us on my time crunch, I was heavily disappointed in the quality of the work. We are now having to take the car back after the wedding to have the damages re-fixed. Yes, I'm a young woman, no, I'm not blind to differences to a car that I have had and taken care of for seven years. read more

Absolutely horrible experience with these people. I had minor damage to the front of my Corolla following a very low-speed collision. This company was one of the approved shops that USAA endorsed so I thought they'd be great. I could not have been more wrong. From beginning to end (3 weeks in total) this ordeal was a headache. I initially brought my car in for an estimate which I was told over the phone would take about 20 minutes. When I got there, the lady who looked over my car seemed super nice and attentive. She briefly assessed the damage and said they could take it into the shop and get started that day if I was able to leave it there, so I agreed. She told me they would call me later that afternoon with the full cost estimate and an estimate for how long repairs would take. Heard nothing that first day. Heard nothing the second day, but tried to call. No answer. On the afternoon of day 3 I call and get rolled to the corporate office; they are finally able to get someone on the phone and I finally get an estimate. $4000 and they'll have my car for at least 2 weeks. I'm flabbergasted and pissed it took them a full 3 days to get me this info. They said it will take a week before all the parts will be in and then they estimate a 6 day repair after that. At this point I'm irritated but like, "fine, do it. But please do a better job of keeping me updated in the future." Later that afternoon I got an email from them which was completely contradictory to the estimate they gave me over the phone. It was 4 days longer than I had just been told. Days go by, they actually do make an effort to call me and keep me informed, and they say it should be ready ahead of schedule, the Monday before Christmas. I was super happy about that because I was paying for a rental car out of pocket and I was leaving town Thursday of that week for Christmas travel. They call Monday and say it's not ready, some hose they were sent was the wrong one. It now has to be ordered and shipped. Tuesday afternoon they called. Sorry, the part still isn't here, but even if we got it today the car still needs to go to the Toyota dealership and be aligned and inspected by them before we can release it back to you. Wednesday they call - it's not going to be done until Thursday. The day I'm leaving town. So naturally I'm totally beside myself at this point, and I consider myself a pretty go-with-the-flow kind of person. Knowing the car should have been done & knowing I'm leaving town until the Monday after Christmas, they offer to pay for the rental for 5 more days. But I still need to go pick up some things out of my car before I leave town. I let them know I'll be coming by after work to collect them. They said no problem, they're open until 5:30. When I get there...they literally can't find my car. The guy at the front desk doesn't know, the mechanic at the back doesn't know. Unbelievable. Apparently they sent it over to Toyota to get aligned and whatnot knowing I was coming by to grab stuff from the vehicle. So at the end of a long day of work and the day before I travel for the holiday, I'm shuttling around town trying to collect my crap. And to end this wonderful experience, I rush back on Monday to make sure I get to the shop during business hours to pick up my car and return the rental...no one's there. They closed themselves down the day after Christmas. I told the guy on the phone I'd pick it up Monday and he never said a thing. So, sorry about the long-winded story, but I wanted to accurately depict the absolute nightmare this company has been. When your car is broken, you're already stressed. All you want is for the company you entrust it to to be competent, helpful, & dependable. Don't give these yahoos your hard-earned money people. read more
