The customize/special cake that we order for our daughter's 1st birthday is so disappointing,the amount of money that we paid for it is not worth it to the cake that we paid for.First we ordered red velvet flavor but the one they gave us is not even red velvet.Next it was unfinished cake you can see that it was made rushed,wherein we ordered the cake for almost a month.It was very dry it seems that it was prepared for almost 3dyas,it taste old.If i will rate the cake by price that is just $50-60,its not even worth $279,it is so disappointing.I know its pandemic everybody was struggling but please we ordered and paid the right amount for our order so place provide also your costumers the exact value of what they paid for. I normally go to the Summerlin location as it is in close proximity to my job, but today I was in the Henderson area and decided to grab something for breakfast. I bought an almond horn this morning for and after two bites I knew something was wrong. the inner layers of dough were still raw! disappointing and definitely ruined my appetite. the employee that helped me also wore the same pair of gloves she wore with the previous customer and went from food to cash handling. with all that is going on in the world, everyone needs to be more cautious and aware of their actions. read more

Just moved to town and was excited to try this bakery. My kids love fresh German pretzels and I love Pumpernickel. I purchased a loaf of bread and 2 pretzels. Everything was stale, dry and pretzels were oddly shaped. Like a kid made them. I was letting the bad pretzels go but I called the store to see if I could exchange the stale loaf for another. The girl that worked there said for me to come back and she would exchange, "no problem!" She said she'd call her manager to ask how to do it, but for me to come back. I returned within the hour to the bakery and the girl said her manager (that she assumed was also the owner, but wasn't sure) said that she couldn't replace the stale bread because that's how it supposed to be. She then put me on the phone with the owner who told me that she can't afford to refund or exchange. I was speechless. Will never return. Don't make my mistake. Bread and baked goods not worth the hassle. If only you could tell how stale that pretzel is from the photo lol. read more

Very cool little bakery. Happened to see a man flying a sign on eastern as I was traveling southbound from the 215, he was advertising the bakery, blink... and you will miss this jewel of a small biz. We took our German friend and she was able to speak fluently with the lady at the front and get some history along with a talk about the Herman bakers who make the bread. So many options to chose from. Everything here is my favorite! I tried the beestich (sp) which is a cake filled with Bavarian cream and topped with slivers of almonds if I am not mistaken. It's possibly my favorite item after the German cheesecake, Berliner, krapfen, apple pie (forgot the name), gingerbread (soft spices and chocolate covered) and pretzel. I look forward to my next visit so we can try the Black Forest cake! They also have candies, teas, spices, and pickles on the side. They have loaves of fresh baked bread of which they can slice for you as a full or half loaf. Give them a try, and don't tell them I sent you or they'll double charge you (jokes) enjoy! First time in. Been wanting to try it for some time. Small and quaint. No tables, just somewhere to walk in and order and leave. The woman behind the counter was very nice, friendly and said they had been open for 7 years, damn, why do we wait so long to try places? I ordered the Crumb pudding cake and a cherry crumb cake, my friend ordered a cheese danish and a bear claw. He loved the danish, fresh, flavorful, I love the pudding bread, every bite is succulent. I've never been to a German Bakery before, but I can assure you that I will certainly be back. Probably within a week, if I'm honest. Went there today instead of a French bakery... and I left with 3 desserts and a cinnamon roll (okay 4 desserts). Everything was satisfying. The cin roll was huge and not overly sweet. I'm a fan. The others were unlike any other dessert I've had, and it was so fun for my family to try. I made my daughter (7yrs) try all three with her eyes closed and pick her favorite. It was the beesting... Good, but not outstanding in every facet! I've passed this German bakery a hundred times and finally went in last weekend. The German desserts looked awesome, and so did all of their breads! Looks can be deceiving, and in this case that was certainly true regarding the breads. The loaf of pumpernickel was so old that it was the texture of a brick! I even sliced (sawed) into it and put it in the microwave to no better result! It had decent flavor, but you should know the age of your bread before letting it go out the door. The pastries are absolutely fantastic! They are sweet without being too much! They appear fresh in the display case, and in this instance, they were quite fresh and worthy of a repeat purchase in the future! read more

I've been to two locations of the German Bread Bakery. This one at Eastern and Serene is the one closest to where I live now. Every once in a while I get a craving and have to come by. I've purchased rum balls, bee sting cake and pretzel rolls in the past. I can make pretzel rolls and bread at home so I stick mostly to the sweeter things. Today it was a rum ball and German cheesecake. The rum ball never made it out of the parking lot. The cheesecake I am saving for later. I'm sure it will be amazing. This is a small little shop. There are the fresh baked good plus a little grocery section. There are some refridgerated foods and shelves of imported German sauces, mixes, pickled vegetables, and jams. I always look at this stuff but I haven't bought any of it yet. Partly because the lables are in German and I don't sprachen enough Deutche to know what any of it is. I suppose I could ask the German lady behind the counter. Maybe next time. Anyhow, they have a nice variety of foods in here and it always smells so mouthwateringly good. I love the smell of bread and other fresh baked goods. Plus the prices are really reasonable. I will continue to return time and time again as I long to satisfy those cravings that draw me in. Just as good as the West side location, except located distressingly close to my gym.The sweet lady who works here always makes it so hard not to buy the entire store. Almost everything I've tried here has been pretty good- stop by the back table for reduced-price day-old bread, the dark rye is my favorite. Rum balls are huge and strong, but you can't go wrong with any of their pretzel products- the croissant in particular, with a sprinkle of seeds on top, is the best. BF loves the crumb cake (available in cherry and apple), and the pizza bread makes an interesting if atypical lunch choice. read more

THREE AND A HALF STARS: GOOD In the past couple of months I have experienced the German Bread Bakery. It is located in the Eastern Beltway Shopping Center between Port of Subs and Rubio at the Eastern Avenue entrance. It is away from the madness of the shopping center tenants Walmart and Home Depot. But close enough for a convenient dessert. It is a ten minute walk from Walmart and Depot and a couple doors away from Rubio's and Biejing Chinese Restaurant. The German Bread Bakery is a small shop. A flaw is there are no tables inside. There is seating close by outside Rubio's. In the summer when triple digit temperatures bake the desert, outside seating is an issue. The great customer service isn't an issue. Today for example, the woman who served my bear paw was very friendly as she talked to me about Mount Charleston. This certainly factored into my review. If I had a mainframe that German Bread Company is 2 1/2 stars worthy, I'd up it to the next level. Whenever I experienced the German Bread Bakery, I tried a different item. The items I tried were the bear paw, Berliner with Strawberry filling, pretzel, and cherry danish roll. All the pastries that I tried were powdery and tasty. Napkins were critical. The pastries were sticky. Plus, napkins are necessary to use as a tray when sitting outside. Who knows how many germs people and pigeons leave on these tables. As far as the pretzel. It looks like a cousin of the Auntie Anne and snack bar hot pretzel. Looks are deceiving. This type of pretzel is not prepared hot. Still my taste buds rate it good. Concurrent to the four experiences at the German Bread Bakery, I sipped the German coffee. As far as taste its good. They serve it in a styrofoam cup. Drip coffee is the primary coffee beverage that the German Bread Company currently serves. In conclusion, based on my four experiences at the German Bread Bakery, I give it 3 1/2 stars. This equates to "Good" and an 85% satisfactory level. At this satisfactory level, when I am in the immediate area my check-ins ought to continue. read more

Their pastries were ok. While we were there, one lady came out from the inside and yelled at people because she saw more people in the shop instead of 3 families. One thing I want to point out to the shop lady is that I understand the concern since it is Covid Era but the least she could do is to speak nicely to the customers who was trying to give business to the shop. Excellent baked goods! We have tried a number of things: Berliner donut, cinnamon stick, elephant ear, poppyseed Cake, apple and cherry strudels. Everything is pretty good, especially after warming up in the toaster oven to crisp the edges! Our favorite have to be the poppyseed cake, cos it reminds me of what we got from the Polish bakeries while growing up. The cinnamon stick and elephant ear are an acquired taste cos they are more crunchy than airy. The berliners (German filled donuts) are very good. read more

I've had this bakery bookmarked for awhile. We just happened to drive by and I made my husband turn around so I could run in. I got a few pretzel sticks, a German donut hole, a cinnamon twist, and a pig ear. I took a bite of the donut when I got in the car. It was dry. I then tried the pretzel stick which was also dry. The cinnamon twist was not great either. I threw everything back in the bag and was disappointed in what I had picked out. Maybe I didn't pick wisely or maybe I came on a bad day. But if you drive 15 minutes based on Apple Maps stating they open at 8:30am on Sunday, only to come to a locked door, very frustrating. When calling, only response, it's updated on our website and Facebook... In Germany bakeries open between 5-6 am to be able to have their items for breakfast. I was on this side of Henderson yesterday (2/22/14) and I randomly began thinking about my grandpa who passed a few years ago. He loved German food, polka, all of that, because his mom, my great grandma came to the US from the Austro-Hungarian empire. Because I was randomly reminiscing while out shopping, I decided I was going to pick up some German baked goods for my mom (who is basically my Grandpa's twin, minus the polka music.) I wanted to try to get an assortment. Day old stuff is $1.80 and I'm always cool with that so I grabbed a slice of beesting cake and German cheesecake at that price. I also got a rumball, a pretzel stick and a jelly doughnut thing (forgot the name.) It came in at around $6.50. Not bad. I took my goodies over to my parents' house and my mom cut every item into 5 pieces so my parents and 2 of my siblings and I could try each thing. Obviously the 8 & 10 year old hated the rum ball because it is super strong, but they really liked the pretzel stick. My dad said that my mom's cheesecake is way better, but they both agreed that they loved the beesting cake. The doughnut thing was neither here nor there in terms of likability. Overall, I'd say it was a nice treat but I'd probably try some other things next time, but I'd definitely get more beesting cake and pretzel sticks. read more

I am originally from Buffalo and my Oma is straight off the boat. This time of year I really miss her plum kuchen made with a specific seasonal plum. I was so excited they have it here! This location has a lot of crumb topping; I prefer a bit less with a sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar but this is still really good! I also had the mandarin orange cake-so moist and yummy! I am not a fan of traditional cake/frosting and know I will return here for birthday treats! The only thing I would say is that each time I come in, I feel like I am bothering the woman working. read more

The irony isn't lost on me since I'm reviewing this bakery yet I don't eat carbs. My bread-loving mama was in town visiting and I thought I'd take her here so she could give a review of the place. Well, she couldn't utter a word because she was munching on the fresh pretzel roll before we even got out of the door! She said it was amazing and worth the trip across town to get. She also had a sack full of other goodies but said the pretzel roll was by far her favorite. I picked up a tube of super spicy German mustard which was so tasty and was the exact same stuff I bought when I visited Germany. Now that I know this bakery has a small selection of imported German foods, I'll be back. Another cool thing is that most of the customers in this place were speaking German to the employees. A slice of Germany exists here in the open desert of Las Vegas. I was visiting here for a hockey tournament for my son and looked up some German places. This popped up in Yelp. When I saw that magical word Brötchen (Broetchen) I rushed over! Now no good Germany boy would leave a bakery without getting other goodies so I loaded up and ignored the calorie count. I grabbed some Berliners, Apple Strudel, and a couple of pretzels. The Berliners are delicious with its unique "jelly" center fill. The outside is moist. The overall flavor is very good and definitely authentic in it's taste. Also authentic is the apple strudel and this may throw some people off if they are use to the American version. See, the German's do not go overboard on sugar like most - I was going to say treats but really, everything - and thus this strudel isn't as sweet as what you'd find in a typical American bakery. The strips are thicker than most would be use to as well but is typical to what you'd find in Germany. If you are accustomed to this type of dessert, then it will be a delight to you. Now, let's get to the reason I drove here: Brötchen. This is your more common Wässer (water) Brötchen and not Milch (milk) Brötchen. I prefer the milch over the wässer but it's not that much different in taste. It has been a while since I have enjoyed any type of Brötchen so I am going on my faded memory but this German baby bread certainly reminded me of mornings at my cousins or Oma's table for sure. I smothered Nutella and Strawberry Jam respectively on two stücks (pieces) of the Brötchen and both were amazing. Yes, I did take a bite of just the roll prior to the smothering and yes I took a deep smell of it as well. Soooooo good. This stuff is the real deal, folks. There is also a case of chilled goods such as wurst and Leberkässe which they were out of when I visited. Monday and Thursdays are deliveries for those items. Maybe next time I'm in Vegas I'll be fortunate enough to grab some. If you are longing for some great German bakery items or have yet to try some, I highly recommend visiting the German Bread Bakery. I am so thankful that I live so far away from this joint or I'd be in some real trouble. OMG. The pastries here are absolutely decadent. I went here two days in a row while in town for work and seriously would go there everyday to pick up a breakfast pastry and a mid-day treat if I could. I got the cream cheese coffee cake thing (sorry, I don't remember the name)...and it was delightful. Not too creamy and not too sweet - a great balance of flavors and textures with a crunchy confectioner sugar crumby top and a pillowy dough with enough substance to hold it's own. I really just walked in hoping for some coffee but couldn't resist ordering a pastry and glad I did. I love pig ears, so I got one of those too...and came back for more the next day. Oh. I was driving along Eastern Ave when I saw a sign for this place and thought, "Why not? Let's try this place out." I parked my car and entered the bakery. There was a line of people ahead of me, but fortunately, I had time to wait. There were shelves of German goods and food against the wall that I had never seen before. It looked interesting, but I was in the mood for pastries instead, so I stared at what was available in the display cases. There were plenty of good looking breads and desserts, but I decided on getting a chocolate croissant for myself and a mango yogurt cake for the friend I was meeting up with later. I purchased my items and left the bakery. When I reached my destination, I finally got to dig into my chocolate croissant. It was light, fluffy, and delicious. My friend dug into his mango yogurt cake and he loved it. I didn't expect to discover this place, but I want to go back and try more of what this bakery has to offer. read more

I come to Vegas pretty frequently though I tend to stay close to the strip when I venture out so my experience in this town is very "commercial" or "corporate". This little bakery was a refreshing break from the pre-canned, cookie-cutter-even-in-their-uniqueness that typifies Vegas. Their selection was surprisingly broad considering how little space they have. The shop is very open and the decor is non-existent. In other words, VERY un -Vegas. I say this not as a criticism, but as a reference to the owners obvious exclusion of the superfluous. This minimalism comes through in the interpersonal interaction as well. The lady who helped us typified the European standoffishness that Americans often confuse with unfriendlyness, annoyance, or apathy. She smiled little and rarely, and spoke only as necessary with the briefest of greetings and goodbyes. But her attention to ensuring that we got exactly what we requested and to answering our questions was met with stereotypical German efficiency. The baked goods produced in this shop are of excellent quality. The pudding Berliner with its toothy chew and not overly-sweet cream, is to the American filled doughnut as homemade bread is to store-bought Wonder bread with its jet-puffed texture and artificial presence. The pastry of the apple strudel was crisp, flakey, and satisfying. The filling however, while not at all bad, did not rise to the level I was expecting after the other items I had sampled. Prices are on par with other quality bakeries: roughly $3 for a slice of thick German cheesecake, strawberry roll, beesting cake and the like, $1.25 for the excellent sugar-encrusted Berliner (pudding or jam), and $0.70 for krapfen (a type of doughnut). But the real deal is in the reduced-price ("day-old") goods. A loaf of glazed sweetbread was $3, two German doughnut balls (krapfen) were half-price at $0.69 for the pair. Other products available that I didn't try: various savory breads with seeds, rye breads, a few different cookies, German imports like pickles, curry ketchup, noodles, and so on. Whether you're an ex-pat looking for a taste of home, a traveller in search of something real, or just someone who can't resist a good bakery (guilty as charged!), this is a place that should be on your radar. read more

Having been a longtime customer, I know this bakery isn't cheap, I was prepared spend a Federal Reserve Note or 2. Two customers ahead of us were finishing up their transaction. We were picking out many pastries to bring back with us. The manager asked my wife is she had a mask, she responded no. She didn't ask exemption status, instead she immediately and angrily rattled off what she claims is her knowledge of 'The Law' and kicked her out of the store .I walked out right behind haha, This bakery obviously doesn't need my business anymore. I still have those Federal Reserve Notes in my wallet :) :) I'll be buying my delicious German baked goods elsewhere. read more
