Genuine German bakery that never fails to serve great food. I was out one day and needed something a little sweet and dropped in to see what's what. First thing when I walked in was an actual German family that works there, And greeted me with a smile. Second thing I noticed was the Bee-sting cake!!! This you'll see everywhere in all bakery's in Australia and Germany! I was really surprised to see it, so I purchased the whole cake!!! I know I'm Piggy but when you get something good, get all of it. They also supply a few European items like sausage, chocolate and other cooking supplies that you might only find in international stores. For sure one of the great family bakery's in Las Vegas. We were at the bakery today and had a very nice conversation with the seller. The bakery is a German company that understand their stuff. The bread we bought was finally without sugar or other things. The selection of breads is just huge. I have not found another store that offers so many German breads. The cake is also very tasty - especially the Bestieg cake. We actually had the feeling while eating to be back in Germany. There are also many other German products from red cabbage to spaetzle to German Haribo and even liverwurst. Definitely recommended! read more

First time here, everything was great. Got a couple things: cinnamon roll, almond horn, rum ball, noughat ring, cinnamon twist, pretzel, crunchy stick, bear claw. No complaints, everything was fresh and delicious. The prices were great and the portions are very big. Definitely hard to find a good bakery in vegas but this one is now on my list, will be back to try more. read more

My husband had been reading about this place for a while, he'd even tried going one morning, but it was closed. So today, we knew we'd be there when they were open, and boy what a surprise, there is more than just pastries. They have fresh breads, like my favorite, rye, and a few packaged german goods as well. We got a few of the cheese and fruit (cherry) danishes and a fruit crumb cake. They were fresh and flaky, we really enjoyed them. You gotta go by and try it. read more

This place was a great local spot to visit! I popped in for a quick snack and got a cherry filled pastry. It was amazing, not too sweet with the perfect buttery dough. Service was super nice and fast. They have a wall of imported goods to choose from if you don't want one of their fresh baked items (although you do want one). read more

The pretzel croissant doesn't appear that special at first, but it really does combine that distinct lye flavor with a a lighter flakier croissant. Yum. The BeeSting cake here is more bready than other places. But the honey almond top keeps me eating this one. The apple strudel has a wonderful duel personality crust. Shortbready on the bottom and flaky on top. Too bad its 'bakers canned apple filling', but unless they double the price of the strudel, this is perfectly understandable. read more

I was on the hunt for Pretzel Buns last January when I came across the German Bread Bakery. The woman at the counter was an absolute doll. Their selection prompted my curiosity. I am a Cheese Danish lover so I snagged one and began nibbling it in the parking lot... AMAZING! My husband fancies their Cherry Strudel. At my last visit I grabbed a loaf of their German Sweet Yeast Bread..... OH MY YUMMY GOODNESS!! I have been in each week to get a loaf. They are always so fresh! I have been playing with recipes that encompass this beautiful bread. French Toast, Grilled Cheese or just a perfect sized slice of toast. I hate to disagree with the better reviews, but I am disappointed in the quality of the baked goods I tried. I have had better Strudel and have not been to Germany. I felt the crust was good quality but the Strudel was already in slices and I brought home one slice. A 1 in. section on each end had no apple filling, just crust and the entire filling was too gummy and sweet for me. I do make my own Apple Pies and I don't like a lot of filler. I like more natural juice to it and less sugar. Also I had Strudel in Europe that had golden raisins in it and a larger amount of apple filling that was not thick and gummy. I also bought a slice of Plum crumb cake and the amount of filling was very thin. Next I bought a Cherry tart and while it had a lot of filling in it, too sweet and gummy again. It may just be a matter of taste. The Pretzel Croissants were very good. This is my first time back to this bakery in 5 years and I remember I did like the Apple Strudel at that time so maybe it is different now. read more

Very good! Their pretzels taste like they're right out of Germany. They also have jams that are very tasty.

Planned a German-style Easter brunch and this is the *only* place hubby would go to for brotchen rolls and country bread. He insists it's just like the baked goods he enjoyed in Germany. Brotchen are hard crust rolls, with a delectably lighter bread interior, and they are a great match for soft-boiled eggs, artisan cheeses and meats, and fruit preserves. The farmer style country bread works well, too, for sandwiches and toast. (For convenience and consistency, ask them to slice it for you unless you have a bread slicer at home.) Concerned their stock would run low if we waited until too late in the day, which does happen, we stalked the premises on the Saturday before Easter until the "open" light was turned on. Hilarious. However, everyone enjoyed having the authentic brotchen on Easter morning so it was well worth getting up early to be at the German Bread Bakery by 7am. read more

As a German bakery, this locally owned shop is unique in a city filled with French and Asian bakeries. The pretzel breads and pastries are the must-try items, particularly the pretzel croissant, that combines the chewiness of a pretzel with the airiness of a croissant. The apple danish is buttery, light and filled with caramelized apples inside with icing dashed across the top. Another apple pastry -- their apple pie -- wasn't as good. With a thin pastry crust on the bottom and top, the middle was full of apples and raisins (which I'm personally not a fan of). It's a far cry from an American version of apple pie, one that I wouldn't get again. Still, they have plenty of other great items to eat. read more

After getting a Pretzel Croissant across town at CraftHaus Brewery, I had to stop by the bakery responsible for this wonderful treat. We arrived a little later in the afternoon and that's something I don't like to do in regards to bakeries since you know the best items are gone after morning. There was still a decent selection and though not much, there were still four Pretzel Croissants left! So, I took home Preztel Croissants ($1.15/ea) and Pretzel Sticks ($0.95/ea). There was also a sliced loaf of Caraway Bread on sale (day old goods) that I was happy to take since I love caraway seeds. Everything is great. We threw the pretzels into the convection oven at 350F for ten minutes and they were perfectly warm, soft, with a little crust. Yum! read more

Love this bakery! You can always satisfy your sweet tooth without breaking your wallet. German pastries are not as sweet as French or American ones so keep that in mind, but that's why I like it. I was in search of something bready ( I know, not a word but fits the mood) after writing awhile at the Summerlin library. I spotted the word bakery as I was heading home and voila. A small little bakery but I've learned they pack the biggest delights. There were 4 ladies speaking german, so I went up to check out the selection, one of the ladies greeted me and asked what I wanted. AMAZING. Tons of options, I went with an apple crumb cake and two slices of apple strudel I believe. Check out the photos to see what I ate. Like a previous reviewer, the pastries look like they would be incredibly sweet, but no. Just the right amount, the crumb cake was my favorite, light yet dense with just amount of apples and the crumbs were light and sweet. Perfect with coffee. The strudel was quite good, like nothing I have ever tasted, I had to share. The pastries are a fair size, most of them less than three dollars. I sampled a piece of brown bread with butter and it was delicious, will come again to get a loaf. I spotted in their fridge, sausages and other german products. The ladies were kind at the counter, and I highly recommend for those who are looking for a nice treat. read more

Wow, the food here is outstanding and the prices are low as well. We ordered a pretzel roll, a cherry strudel, a berliner, and an apple torte. All of them were baked to perfection and were absolutely delicious. They were not fresh out of the oven and maybe had been baked in the morning, so I can only imagine how good the ones are fresh out of the oven. This is one of those hole-in-the-wall finds which will keep you coming back for more. Overall, an awesome German bread/dessert store. read more

This is a must visit Bakery. Located in the Smiths shopping center on Lake Mead and Rampart, The German Bakery is addicting. The hubby is from Germany so when I found out about this little hidden gem i knew I had to surprise him with a treat. I ordered a Cherry Strudel, German Cheesecake, Nugat, and pretzel. Me being allergic to gluten unfortunately I was not able to try anything but he ate everything in 1 day. If i would have bought more he would have eaten that too haha. What a little gem of a find this bakery is! I was in the parking lot headed to Subway when I noticed it. I thought I would stop in and see what they had for bread. I was surprised at the appetizing variety of goodies they had! I got a "Apple Danish" and a "Bear Claw" to enjoy for dessert :) They were so tasty! Every time I am in this part of town, I make a point of stopping by this AMAZING bakery! They have a great selection of breads, pastries, desserts, pretzel breads/pretzel croissants, and the most delicious apple strudel in town. Most importantly, the customer service I receive is exemplary. The young lady that waited on me the last time I was there, I was right at closing time but I received amazing customer service just the same. The bakery attendant went out of her way to make sure to offer to put loaves through the slicer (even though it was evident that they had already been shut down for the day). The customer service she provided, along with the excellent freshness and quality of the products will definitely keep me returning here long term! Items Selected: Bear Claw Bee Sting Cake Pretzel Croissant Apple Strudel Almond Twist Owned and operated by two of the most pleasant ladies I've yet to encounter in Las Vegas one would be hard pressed to name a more 'authentic' ethic destination in the city - Asian, European, Latin American, or otherwise. Featuring a wide variety of baked goods and imports both sweet and savory straight out of Deutschland at prices representing a veritable bargain compared to many of the area's artisan bakeries it was plain on entry to the small shop that things were bound to be good when I heard staff and patrons communicating nearly exclusively in German and with no less than two dozen offerings available the only difficulties presented by German Bread Bakery was not ordering too much...eventually settling on a mere five selections at a total of $10.89. Focused on the classics, particularly those most familiar to me growing up to a Hungarian-German heritage, it was with an apple strudel that my tasting began and reheated quickly in the microwave I'd strongly suggest others do the same, the result a light trickle of butter running from the flaky dough as fresh apples and light sweetness found balance in hefty cinnamon notes and delicate pastry. Moving next to two almond options it was perhaps an effect of my 2pm arrival that the sole remaining bear claw was found to be a bit doughy though the frangipane was well utilized and moving on to the laminated layers of the almond twist I'd wager that no better exists in the city, a light glaze overlying toasted almonds as each shattering bite made a mess of my table and floor, a similar result found in the signature 'pretzel croissant' as buttery salted layers gave way to a soft crumb speckled with seeds and flavors harkening the Bavarian classic but ever more delicate. Last but certainly not least, my final taste of German Bread Bakery on this day was the classic Bienenstich - a dish rarely found but always astounding when done well and in this case done perfectly with light vanilla pastry cream proving a marvelous balance to rich almond/honey/butter crunch topping all anchored by the yeasty yellow cake - a must order more than worth a trip to both fans and those (unfortunately) not yet familiar. read more

The couple in front of us spoke German and seemed to know what they were ordering so we ended up copying their entire order. The cinnamon swirl was 99 cents, but hard and too sugary- not my favorite. The almond coffee cake was soft and had a nice almond filling in the center. You might want to skip it if you aren't a nutty, almond lover. 5/5 for me. The cheesecake tasted very similar to the almond coffee cake. Do not expect it to taste like American cheesecake. 4/5. From the moment you walk in your greeted by a staff of friendly ladies that are sweet and helpful. At first glance I suddenly felt like I was transported back in Germany 3 years ago when I went to Europe and all the different bakeries they had back in Germany which was very similar in presentation and what they offered here. I purchased 7 items including pretzel roll & stick, German Cheesecake, Apple Strudel, Apple Crumb Cake and Lemon Roll. Everything my family and I had was delicious and fresh. The pretzel bread were amazing, great with cheese or butter. They were soft in the inside and the crispy texture on the outside was consistent. The Apple Strudel and Cheese Cake were filling and dense but sweet enough with every bite. We will back to try so more of their other pasties and bread. read more

My girlfriend and I (who is German) stopped by here for breakfast yesterday. We were really excited because of the good reviews, and we figured this would be a great place to have around for when she misses home. The two woman working were from Germany and were so friendly! We talked with them for a little bit, alternating between German and English, and they even gave us tips about where to find other German items throughout Las Vegas. We ended up ordering two of their muffins which were really really good, and two Berliners which even though we ate half a day later (and they had sit in a hot car), they were delicious and fresh. We also got two cups of coffee which were great German quality, and we really enjoyed it. They also have some German groceries and candy, though the shelves were a little bare while we were there. However they told us a big shipment was coming in next week so they should have a lot more than. They have sauerkraut and haribo candy, and they also have those little Maggi sauce packets with recipes for making a dinner with it. We love those and are happy they're there! They also of course have a variety of wurst for sale. The biggest disappointment of this place is that they didn't have chairs and tables to sit down and eat breakfast. We were hoping this was more like a cafe, and that it would be our regular spot to enjoy a nice breakfast our snack in a cafe, but we found ourselves leaving and looking around to find a place to sit down. We ended up in the park down the road, but still. If they add tables and chairs, we would come a lot more frequently! read more

Not impressed. Purposely drove across town to try some pastries. I know it's late in the day and they wouldn't have much options (it was about 4pm). Got there and they lady was putting everything away saying they closed an hour early during summer... Which the hours didn't reflect on Yelp or even on the hours listed on the door. But she was nice enough to take my order. Got the pretzel croissant, cherry cobbler thing, chocolate coin, and I asked for a crunch cake and German cheese cake and didn't get the cheese cake and ended up with 2 crunch cakes. Fairly inexpensive for everything though... Less than $14 But nothing was spectacular. I was really looking forward to the pretzel croissant but it was underwhelming. Not that flaky, not buttery, not' pretzely'. The chocolate ring was okay but there's an amazing little bakery in Arizona that is soooooo much better. The cakes were not great. I had a couple bites of each and tossed em. Flavor, texture, presentation, all very average. It's not a bad place, but not really something I'd go out of my way for. read more

Awesome. We have finally found a place that makes authentic brochen (german rolls). Unfortunately it's ~1200 miles away from home! Still that's quite a lot closer than traveling to Deutschland proper... The rolls were just right, and per my fiancee we've finally found a German bakery that 'gets it right'. She's been looking for a place that makes the stuff she remembers from living in Germany years ago, so I trust her expertise on that. We got 2 of the brochen, a strawberry danish and strawberry crumb cake for $5 even. It was very, very good and filled us up quite nicely. It was actually the best (also the cheapest!) breakfast I've had in the vegas area for some time! A tip for fellow vegas-area tourists who might be driving there using a GPS gadget as we did: our GPS got a little confused based on the street address and identified a spot along Rampart Blvd where there obviously was no store. The bakery is located at the large intersection near the street address location, in the strip mall near the supermarket. It's easy to miss from the road but with some exploration you'll be able to find it quickly. Also to address a point made in other reviews, it's true they don't have any seating inside the store (there might have been a small table and 2 chairs, if that). However immediately outside there are stone benches at the strip-mall. Yes, it's parking-lot ambiance which typically isn't the best place to have a little picnic, but the food was so great that we couldn't have cared less. You might not want to eat this stuff in a renal car unless you want to risk an extra cleaning charge. We'll definitely be back. It's off the beaten path for a tourist, but definitely worth seeking out. read more

As a German I missed good bread here in the States. When I moved to Las Vegas I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they had a real German bakery in town. The bread is authentic and tasty, they offer German rolls (white, dark, and pretzel) as well as a wide variety of pastries. They have a cooler that includes goodies like real Leberwurst, Teewurst, and Mettwurst. They also offer great German mustard in various flavored to good prices. In their shelves they often keep things like Knödel, German salad dressing, jams, and other goodies you only get in Germany. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They speak both German and English and are very welcoming. Service is quick and good and prices are reasonable. This bakery makes my stay in Vegas so much better! read more

The Skinny: can't get past the poor textures of custards and puddings in their pastries (2) it's a bakery so there really isn't a place to sit and they only do credit card transactions over $5 (3) value: given that there pastries were not that great, I'd say this place rates a (2). I'm a carboholic so when I read about German Bread Bakery, I knew we had to hit it. My hubby and I happened to be in the neighbourhood right when the bakery opened so we decided we'd to get a couple pastries to go. Back in my hometown, we have a little German bakery as well which served a great beesting cake; a layer cake filled with pastry cream and topped with honey and almonds. Seeing they had this concoction available too, we decided to give this one a try. Also we saw people post multiple pictures of the pudding danish, so we decided to pick one of those up too. The beesting cake was pretty disappointing. Although the almond topping and cake was okay, the pastry cream had a very unpleasant powdery texture that really turned me off considering that it composed of 50% of the concoction. It was like eating a teaspoon of cornstarch. Not good. Not good at all. Next came the pudding danish. My hubby was checking out the danish and poked the pudding part with his fork. I kid you not, the fork bounced back and left not a mark on surface of the pudding. "Look, baby! The pudding has memory!" Yeah, it was that bad. Having the consistency of a rubber band, there was way too much gelatin or agar to solidify their pudding. The danish itself was okay - a little on the doughier side of things than what I'd prefer. It didn't have the flakiness of a fantastic puff pastry. Given the disappointing experience with both the pudding pastry and the beesting cake, it gets a 2 star. read more

I shop here as often as I can get there!! My grandmother is German and SUPER picky!! This bakery is the ONLY one she loves!! They are always very friendly, the food is PHENOMENAL and I have literally NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED by anything I have purchased here!! Friendly, helpful service, and I'm not just saying that because the woman behind the counter pronounced my name correctly. (Although I'm a bit of a sucker for that.) With a nod to these linguistic skills, I was certainly charmed/dazzled to listen to the conversation she had in German with the customers before us. Yep, GBB is the real deal. We purchased four pretzels, two crusty sticks, a loaf of dark rye (thinly sliced on request), a loaf of white (not sliced because it's very soft), a cheese danish, a raisin roll, and one piece of the seasonal chocolate-covered gingerbread. All of this came to around $25, plus the free advice to not refrigerate the bread. It can be frozen; otherwise it will last about five days on the countertop. The cheese danish was lovely - succulent, even. One of those rich pieces where halfway through you're full, but it's so good, how can you stop eating? The gingerbread seemed a little pricey at $2 for a small rectangle, but when I tried a small bite and the full flavours and aroma hit me, I only regretted that we didn't get a second one so I wouldn't have to share. Pretzels were the definition of what a good pretzel should be, and until I had these I didn't know that all previous pretzels had fallen short of the mark. Salty, crusty, and chewy, but still so light! The rye I've only tried a nibble of before realizing that I wasn't really in the mood for a rye that didn't have caraway seeds and a light crumb. So, that's my fault for wanting one thing but ordering something else. That said, the bit I tried seemed to have a good, hearty-yet-not-a-brick taste without being overbearing. I'll look forward to grilling it into sandwiches with a little havarti and sauerkraut later. (The other items were my husband's to try - I'll let him write his own review.) I was happy to overhear that a new location in Henderson will be opening next year. Hopefully it will be a little closer to me than this store at Rampart and Lake Mead - never again will I grab a Wetzel Pretzel or (gasp of shame) nuke up a SuperPretzel and call it acceptable. read more

I also have lived in Germany for 1 year so excited about this place. mon - wed they have a light selection of pastry the weekends thur - fri to sunday they roll out there full assortment witch includes croissants as well as other non week day afair. I got cherry strudel, apple one, and bear claw. The cherry strudel was packed with cherry filling light and crispy or flaky Apple was really good light and airy. yet to try bear claw lol ..
