AVOID German Motor Works. Poor Workmanship, Dishonest Communication, and a damaged vehicle. I strongly advise anyone considering German Motor Works to reconsider, especially if you're expecting professional communication, accountability, or even basic care for your vehicle. I initially brought my Audi to this shop after the dealership quoted excessive labor hours for a repair. German Motor Works, specifically Asad and Matt, assured me they could complete the same job within the warranty approved time. I dropped my car off that same Thursday. Matt, reassured me the job would be completed within five days which was important because that was the length of my rental coverage. By Monday (day 4), I still hadn't received an update. I contacted my warranty provider only to find out the shop had not even submitted an estimate. When I followed up with Asad, he gave a vague excuse and shifted blame to his manager. Later, I was told the parts were on backorder and had to pick up my car without any work completed. Once the parts were in, I dropped off the car again while I left for a work trip. Communication became increasingly unclear. Asad began using vague sales tactics, implying they had limited flexibility in pricing due to shop margins. After some back and forth, the repairs were eventually "completed", and I picked up my car. Immediately after, I noticed the fender moldings were not flush and appeared loose. Upon closer inspection, two screws were missing. I returned to the shop, where Matt denied the screws were ever there but that he would order them and get them installed. When I followed up on on Monday, he claimed the screws were now available, contradicting his earlier denial and effectively admitting they had simply been left out. I brought the car in again, and though the screws were reinstalled, the fender moldings remained loose. I pointed this out, and the technician attempted to explain that the "tabs were aligned," ignoring the actual issue: they were not staying in place. After further inspection at home, I reviewed the OEM installation procedure and discovered the tabs had been broken off from the back which is consistent with someone forcefully removing the moldings without releasing them properly from behind the fender liner. This damage clearly occurred during their repair process. Further compounding the issue, I found two new dents on the driver's door and a dent with touch-up paint on the hood. None of which were present when I initially dropped off my car. When I addressed this via a check in text I received, Matt again denied responsibility and referenced security footage, claiming it showed "no difference." Of course, such footage would not capture fine body panel details or tab breakage behind trim pieces. The attempt to shift blame and gaslight the customer instead of taking accountability is deeply concerning. The communication was disorganized, the workmanship was sloppy, and additional damage was done to my vehicle. The dismissive and evasive responses I received from both Asad and Matt only reinforced my experience: this shop prioritizes cutting corners and avoiding responsibility over delivering professional, trustworthy service. Bottom line: This shop caused more damage than they fixed and refused to own up to it. I would not recommend German Motor Works under any circumstance. IThey "serviced" my car twice within one week, and both times it came back worse than when it went it. I went from getting an oil change to I need a whole new entire engine in a SPAN of ONE week. I drove my car in for both appt, but by the end of the 2nd one I had to get it towed, as it wouldn't even start. AND I had to pay for the tow of course! And the "diagnostic" charge. And for the oil change that started this all. Now I'm left with no car, and NO accountability on their part. Even lied to my face! I feel so scammed. Now I have to get a 2nd opinion and possibly a lawyer. read more

We took our Mercedes there to get the air conditioning fixed. When we went to pick up the car, it was making a strange horn sound. I immediately called German Motor Works to report the noise that wasn't there when I brought the car in for service. When I brought the car back they said they can't detect where the noise was coming from. All they did was drive the car around and said the noise had nothing to do with the compressor they replaced and it wasn't their fault. My husband spoke with them and they basically said they don't know what is causing the noise an hour d they aren't g to fix it. Don't take your car there for repairs. read more

Excellent service by professional and friendly personnel. The waiting room is bright and comfortable and includes free coffee, soft drinks, and water. If your German vehicle is out of warranty, this is your source for repair and restoration. If they do not have an answer to your problem or concern, they will research it. While several of my car's issues were straight forward such as a component failure, the latest had to do with the main radio and information module. Their research revealed factory bulletins diagnosing and outlining the process to correct it. While my BMW is "vintage", we also use them for my wife's 2019 X3's routine fluid changes, etc.. I really want to support Matthew and team as a qualified German auto alternative to dealer service. They are very capable, detailed, and committed to performing repairs at reasonable price. The only negative is their communication system is badly broken. This place is trash. Guy at the front desk has the worst communication I've dealt with in a while. I go cars blowing hot get a diagnostic and says it's the a/c compressor. Tells me it'll be here in two days. I call 5 days later to check if it arrived but then says I didn't give him verbal approval. And then wants to have an attitude about it when I asked why he would say it would be here in two days. I approve the part then he hangs up on me with out scheduling anything no I'll call you back nothing. Customer service is everything I used to exclusively go here just for there customer service but it's sad to see it go down hill like that. I've been frequenting this shop for years now (mostly for work on a 2001 BMW M5) and have had the opportunity to interface and observe them in a variety of situations. I have yet to experience or see (with other customers) a situation that they were not putting forth the customers' best interests first (i.e. identifying work under warranty and saving the customer substantially) or attempting their best to satisfy the customers' needs. I have seen circumstances that could have been resolved better, or could have been avoided, but at the end of the day honest intention, trust, and competence carry the service/client relationship. As long as I own a car they are willing/able to work on, I will continue to use this business because they have my trust. read more

Wow, surprised this place doesn't have more reviews. I came here about 6 months ago when I was changing out the expansion tank on my BMW X3 and didn't realize I needed to get the thermostat valve with it. They were one of the only places in town that had the part in stock and let me buy it from them without a markup. Based off of that experience I decided to take my car to them to have it looked at after I was having several issues. They fixed a slight leak I had with my coolant (because I didn't snap a hose on right), fixed an issue with my ac refrigerant not being at the right pressure and did all my belts, tensioner pulleys and found a couple of minor issues for me, all while shooting me straight. They didn't try to act like there was something else wrong with my coolant (which they could have) to get more money out of me. They didn't try and convince me to do anything which could wait. These guys were pretty straight shooters all around and in the end, charged me about 35% less then I was quoted from another highly rated european mechanic on yelp for the same work. I double checked the work they did when I got home and everything looks as it should. Do yourself a favor and check these guys out. Yelpers, if you've used them and have something to say about your experience, Let us all know. These guys deserve way more credit. Great service! My 328i battery 'died' on me. A friend of mine had used this place before and recommended. I called Matt and he seemed knowledgeable. He ran power diagnostics and it turned it out my battery wasn't dead. Very curious situation as I couldn't start the car for an hour. He called me a few hours later and let me know his diagnosis. The biggest plus here is that he could have charged me for labor and battery without me knowing that there wasn't a problem. But he chose to out the customer first and he was VERY transparent walking me through where the starting of the car would fail and that all systems were fine. He suggested to leave over night to see if problem would persist the next day. Very refreshing as the dealership would more than likely have taken a lot of my money. Matt's honest and consultative approach gave me high confidence that he knew what he was doing and was an honest guy. 100% recommend and I'll be taking car here again if I ever have an issue. read more

I have been going to German Works since about 2008, Back then is was Mike, then I believe it was Joe and Now these guys in 2020. They seem nice and somewhat knowledgeable. I brought my G-wagon in for a battery light, they got it fixed and price was fine. But here's the problem. While they had it one of the techs broke my inner driver door handle. So they call and tell me that they broke the handle and it would be 125 for them to diagnose what they broke and an estimated 525 to fix what they broke. Of course I declined and was there to get my wagon in about 5mins after that. I could tell he was waiting for me to through a fit for them to do whats right, but why should I have to make a scene over something so simple. What the should have done was once they broke it, take off door panel see what they broke and then contact me and tell me they broke some and how much it would cost and ask if I mind paying maybe 25% or so since it broke while they had it. I've owned the G for almost 2 years now without issue， but they tell me the door looks like its under stress and that's why it broke. If they are not willing to stand behind small mistakes I can no longer recommend them to anyone. I took off door panel myself which is like 3 screws in 4mins. The door handle inside plastic was broken and i ordered a new one today for 110. Problem Solved. THE CHARACTER OF A PLACE IS ONLY APPARENT WHEN A ISSUE ARRISES. I am a 1st time customer to German Motor Works and they totally impressed me. After having my SL550 to the $tealership, they recommended numerous items to be "fixed". I took my "baby" to Matt at GMW. They looked it over and found that only 2 items needed attention. They performed B service items and recharged my A/C. Since a break fluid flush was borderline, Matt said he would throw that in the deal. They did a thorough inspection of my car and gave me the all clear after performing the stated services. They're prices are lower than the dealer prices and are certainly more trustworthy. I will return with my 2011 20k baby. Thanks for the thorough job Matt. I took my BMW 5 series here because my check engine light came on. I made an appointment on Mon and dropped my car off at 9AM on Tues 07/21. They took 2 days to diagnose and 2 days to fix the problem. I got my car back at the end of the day on Fri 07/24. In addition, they stated that my car needed 1. the lower control arms (Right & Left side) need to be changed. This was correct because I knew the arms started making noises more than 3 months ago. 2. The oil pan gasket. Did not need to be replaced. 3. The front rotor & brake pads need to be changed. They stated that there were only 15% of the pads remaining. Not true! I just replaced them a month ago! 4. The rear rotors & brake pads need to be changed. They stated again that the rear also has only 15% of the pads left. Again, not true! I replaced them along with the front a month ago! Out of 4 things stated, only 1 was true! Not a trust-worthy place! They assumed that I did not know much about my BMW. I played dumb to see how they were. In reality, I know a lot about my car because I have been driving it for 15 yrs and kept excellent maintenance on it! Horrible customer service! The people who now run this shop are inept. Former reviews of this establishment were in the high marks (which is why I chose it) but that was when someone named Joe managed the place. He is no longer there and seems that his crew went with him. I took my car in and was promised it would be ready the next day. Needles to say, it wasn't ready. Being promised again that it would be ready the following day....it wasn't ready. An excuse of "the parts people didn't deliver the right part." So, my car was there for 3 days...after driving 75 miles, the check engine light came back on....Returned to the garage and I was told they would replace the part they put in at no cost...again saying it would be ready the next day. It wasn't ready and sat in the parking lot over the 4th of July weekend. I was promised that it would be delivered to my house by 12:00 on the following Monday.....again, promise broken. The guy delivering it could not find my house....which is 3 turns and less that 3 miles from the garage. Again, the check engine light comes on....I returned to the garage and was told a gas cap would be ordered......never received a call saying that the part was in. After driving around with the engine light on and thinking on how unprofessional these people are, I took my car to a different garage that was able to fix the problem the same day!! They had to redo what German Motor Works supposedly had done. I went back to GMW to see if they would credit my account for their defective part. While I was waiting to speak to them, two people were complaining about how their cars were not ready at the time stated. One person walked out very angry and the other said they will never come back to this place. I was told that they could not credit any account for work they didn't do so I received nothing for the defective part they sold to me. (I knew if I left my car there for them to work on, they would keep it for days.) So now I understand German Motor Works and how they operate.... they are as good as their word....broken promises.
