I have never been to an auto shop with such friendly and caring staff. Mike and Chris really went above and beyond to make my wait for my car comfortable. Then when I went to check out, they went over every detail with me about my car which was nice and they didn't make me feel obligated to get the work done & they were NOT pushy at all (also didn't charge me an arm and a leg which was awesome). Executive summary: Management and mechanics changed, estimates went up, got quoted for work that was not needed = loyal 13 years customer LOST! Gory details: I have been a loyal customer of GMW since 2002 taking my car in about once per year for an oil change and any maintenence needed (work and home are very close so I only put about 4-5K miles per year). There was one manager whose name I forgot and then Joe (both who seemed honest, called back quickly with estimates/required repairs, info, etc.), and the mechanic (Tony) that was assigned to my car was always the same & did a great job...for many years! Compared with the BMW dealership I would get quotes that were roughly 50-75% the cost & the work was always done in a timely fashion. The last time I took my car in 7/2016 I was told that Joe was no longer there and I saw NONE of the original mechanics that I had come to know and trust. I was in for an oil change and inspection (I had a check engine light). They changed the oil and told me that they could not fix the check engine light without replacing all the catalytic converter/sensors ($700-$800) AND they told me that both front and back brakes would have to be replaced. Bottom line is that I felt as I were being ripped off so I went to several other shops and all of the others ran the car check and told me that only one of the sensors would need to be replaced - $346 parts, labor, and tax. The front/rear brakes had been fully replaced 5 years earlier by GMW and of the three other shops that looked at them all said that I would have another couple of years on the brakes. I will not use German Motor Works anymore ...very sorry that GMW went the way it did. read more

They solved the problem, did it fast, and kept me in the loop the entire process. No one wants to have to pay to get the car fixed, but the folks at GMW did a really professional job. I had some work done to my shocks and they did great work. About a month later I had a rattling sound so I stopped by without an appointment to see if they could check it out, since I was going on a road trip and didn't want to use the car if there was a problem with it. They were more than happy to test drive it and fix the problem which was minor and unrelated to the shocks, and get me on my way. I was so grateful since I'm sure I messed up their other appointments but they took good care of me, and there was no charge! Very nice people too. read more

I have been going to GMW for several years now. When Joe ran the place it was flawless. I have recommended this place to several friends. Not sure where Joe went but I will never go back after yesterday. Took my BMW in for oil change. Dropped it off since they were busy and guaranteed it would get done. Never heard from them and drove up there near closing. Asked about my car and they said they didn't get to it. I asked for my keys and car and after some time they couldn't find it. Five minutes later I see a mechanic starting to park my car with another customer in it! Not only did they not work on my car as promised, they used it to pick customers up. Any it was covered in mud on one side. Very disappointing but they lost not only one very dedicated customer but probably the five I sent to them. Sorry Joe is gone. I will never go back or recommend them again. read more

I must say, what turned out to be a not so good visit to GMW a little over a month ago, ended up being superb customer service by the owner of the shop himself (Mike)! Mike and Chris genuinely showed concern about my last visit that didn't go so well, corrected the issue and have regained my full attention in making sure this is the only place I will bring myself and my wife's car to have any repairs done on them! I will try and be brief and to the point since Michael the owner and Chris his well-trained assistant are so good at the gift of "Gab" On October 8th I called German Auto works and explained to Chris my vehicle problem with suspension Michael the owner went on to boast how he was only one of two shops in the Metroplex with a $175,000 computer diagnostics computer authorized by Mercedes Benz. I agreed to take my car to him I took my vehicle there on October 12th after 4 days of no word from them I called to enquire and Chris his assistant told me they had "Diagnosed " the vehicle needed a part that would cost me $ $1,180 to replace , I asked twice if he was sure that was it and they said yes I then agreed and they replaced it , They called me to tell me the car was ready I went to the shop and paid, got into the vehicle , started it and lo and behold the same problem was still there , they had reset the code in the hope it would at least get home before it indicated, and I would not notice but that's not easy with Mercedes. I left the car there and again after a week I had no word from them and when I called twice and went there physically, I was told there was something else wrong. I was told I needed to replace a leaking strut for an additional $,1100 I asked why when he knew very well all my struts had a lifetime warranty which I'm sure he thought I did not know but wanted to bilk me for an additional $1100 while he gets the strut on warranty. I had the strut replaced but still no fix. So I'm sure that was a lie. Another week later he told me I actually needed a special part from Mercedes Benz that was taking too long, still no fix, Finally he told me that in fact I needed to replace two additional struts and that they were ordering them from the manufacturer on warranty, and they were on the way, a day later they called and said I'm the one who actually has to get them because the warranty is in my name. Bottom line I was fed up and on November 2nd I had the car towed away from these Incompetent persons. A week later my car is back on the road, Over and above this we found out that the car was missing parts that German Auto works removed and refused to return. They also refused to refund the false charge. They are seasoned liars and well versed at it. I would not trust them with an oil change. The number of cars in the lot should say enough. I wished I had read the reviews before I took it there. read more

i have been taking my cars here since 1998 and have always been pleased with the service. they explain the repairs and let you know what is happening along the way. they always seem to squeeze me in for headlight and light bulb replacements. also was able to help me with all the reimbursement paperwork when mercedes had a recall that i originally paid for a year before. they go above and beyond. read more

I've had work done for some years with GMWs. Unfortunately I now have become painfully aware of their true business practices. Joe, the owner is a pathological liar. Here's an example. I brought the car in for an oil change and picked it up with the air conditioning not working. I paid them to fix the air conditioning and was told the car had a severe radiator and water pump leak. After the next oil change the air condition, again, stopped working. I brought the car back and Joe said it was because the car was so over heating the air conditioning system shut down. Well, I was floored. The car isn't even warm let alone over heating. I called them on it and the reconnected a wire and the air conditioning was fine again. I have yet to add water to the overflow tank, there is no radiator problem. My daughter bought a car they had from a mechanics lean. Joe said it was in perfect condition with nothing wrong. We've paid $2,500 since with two weeks of buying the car to get it in drivable condition. As I say, they're subtle but Joes a near perfect liar. read more
