I would not recommend this mechanic. In a nutshell, taking my car to Gerry's cost me additional money, time, and trouble than it should have. I initially had my car towed by AAA to Gerry's on August 21, 2019, after it broke down on the side of the road. Gerry's diagnosed the problem as being a busted fuel pump. I gave Gerry's authorization to replace it. On August 26, Gerry's called to tell me my car was ready for pickup. I paid nearly $800 for the repair. Shortly after picking it up, while I was driving back to Baltimore from Arlington, VA, my car broke down again while I was in the middle lane of the 14th Street Bridge, entering DC, during rush hour. The gas gauge read that I had 1/2 a tank of gas. I called AAA yet again, and AAA recommended that I take my car to a different, AAA-preferred mechanic in Baltimore. So, I had my car towed to AAA's recommended mechanic. That mechanic diagnosed the problem as a fuel pump issue. I called Gerry's to tell them that my car broke down again, due to the fuel pump they installed. From what I gather, the owner answered. After I began explaining the problem to him, he immediately questioned me as to why I didn't have the car towed back to Gerry's. He asserted that the terms of the warranty for the fuel pump required that the car be brought back to them if it dies within 25 miles of Gerry's. According to him, the auto parts manufacturer would've covered the towing cost. He never asked where my car died. Of course, it died in DC-well outside of a 25-mile radius. I told him that, and he then asked what I "wanted" from Gerry's. A functional fuel pump, I said. He told me he'd have to call me back. A little while later, he called and told me that I could pay to have my car towed back to Gerry's to have them fix the problem caused by their services. Instead, I suggested that, since my car was at a Baltimore garage (i.e., within 25 miles), the auto parts manufacturer should tow it, per the warranty. He said he'd have to get back to me. After all this, he offered to have the car towed back to Gerry's. Then, the AAA-preferred garage called to tell me my gas gauge was probably broken. Turns out, I didn't actually have 1/2 a tank of gas when I was on the 14th Street Bridge. An empty tank was likely the cause of the breakdown, and the faulty fuel pump may have interfered with the gas gauge. The garage put a few gallons in and charged me $190 for the diagnostics and gas. I drove my car back to Gerry's for them to replace the fuel pump. Again, the owner was confrontational and abrasive. He claimed to have replaced the fuel pump again and said that the first pump Gerry's put in may have caused the gas gauge to malfunction. The inaccuracy of the gas gauge, of course, was what led my car to die on the 14th Street Bridge. However, the owner also admitted that my gas tank was empty when I had it towed to them the first time. Gerry's did not tell me this when I hired them to do the initial diagnostics. Of course, had they told me, I would've known my gas gauge was likely inaccurate, and would have made sure my tank was sufficiently filled before driving to VA. So, one of two things happened: either Gerry's failed to identify and inform me of a malfunctioning gas gauge when I brought my car to them the first time, or the first fuel pump they put in caused it to malfunction. (My gas gauge still does not seem to be accurate, so I assume the former took place.) Either way, Gerry's was unapologetic for having played a role in my car dying in the middle of the 14th Street Bridge, during rush hour, and seemed reluctant to help me fix the issue. I had expressed an interest in Gerry's compensating me for the fee I paid at the other garage, due to Gerry's inadequate services and potentially faulty fuel pump. Gerry's never offered to do so. Indeed, Gerry's seemed disinterested in fixing the problem they either missed during the initial diagnostic (i.e., the malfunctioning gas gauge) or caused by putting in a faulty fuel pump. read more

Called Gerry's to get a quote for new tires. They didn't have the specific ones I wanted but were able to get them in the next day. My car was in and out in a little over an hour. It should have been longer with alignment but they called me to say they took my car out for a drive and it really didn't need an alignment. Saved me $90! I appreciate the honesty which is hard to find at maintenance shops. read more

These guys are great! I've been a customer for over six years and they always treat me fairly. An oil change is only $22. and they balance and rotate your tires and also check your brakes for free. The only catch is you will have to leave your car there and they will tell you it may take a couple of hours but it will normally be done within 1 hour. They don't try to "upsell" on crap you don't need. I got 4new tires last spring for my elantra and it only set me back $310. It is so difficult to find people in this business with integrity but thesse guys have. read more

This shop is the Best in Baltimore. I called Monday afternoon to see if I could swing in for an oil change and wait for it to be done. I got an appt. Setup on that Wednesday 2 days later. As they are working on the oil change I had a nice conversation with the man that runs the office. He then heads out into the shop for 10 minutes, comes back and asked me if I wanted to do a tire rotation remembering they put on my new tires about a month ago. They are very honest and have the best customer service. I won't go anywhere else. read more

I am stickler when it comes to finding the right car shop for my oil changes and Gerry's EXCEEDED my expectations. They were welcoming with a local sense of comfort, the most efficient oil change/tire rotation/fluid cap off I've ever experienced... My jaw literally dropped when my car was finished in 15 min!!! In my short time in Baltimore, this place has helped me and my family out several times already! The most recent time, my husband's car went in because it was driving rough. I had a spreadsheet of the car's service record so they could see what was done when and I was prepared to pay a good chunk of money because the car is 13 years old and it hadn't had any belts changed. They said all it needed was to top off the oil and new tires. That's it! My car's check engine light was on and they replaced a pump. The check engine light came on again after I picked up the car and they searched for the problem, and fixed a slight leak in a hose adjacent to the pump without an additional charge! Amazing. We first came because a colleague, who had been taking his car here for a while, told us that, when he brought his car in for the last time, Gerry's Tire told him straight that they (Gerry's) could keep repairing it and making money off him but it would be in his best interest to get rid of the car now. This seems like a very good company. I ran over a screw and needed a plug put in a tire a couple of weeks ago. I assumed they wouldn't want to do it and would try to sell me a new tire. But they didn't, they fixed the tire and I was done very quickly. Tire is good as new. My fiance hit the pot holes on Baltimore Ave this weekend; denting her rim and shattering her hub cap. So I brought they car to them to fix. Mike was able to straighten the rim and there was no damage to the tire. Problem fixed very quickly AND he wouldn't take any money for it! so i'm a little late in the game writing this review, but better late than never i suppose! this winter in baltimore was freezing (obviously we all know that with the polar vortex and whatnot)...but what i did not know was that my tires on my car were beginning to dry rot. and that when it is cold like it was, that the tires can shrink up and the tiny pinholes indicative of dry rot, become bigger, causing your tires to lose air. one particular week back in the end of January, the air was so cold that i had not one but 3 tires go flat in a two day period. I called around for pricing on tires, and of every place i called Gerry's was by far the most cost effective option, but more importantly, the customer service provided both over the phone and in person was impeccable. They also connected me with Curtis Auto Service (a tow company to help me get my car there because all of my tires were flat!) and set up a seamless bill so that I only had to pay one check vs. writing one out to the two separate companies. They took the time to explain to me why my tires had all gone flat at once, provided solid advice, and got me in and out of the door very quickly. highly respectable and have recommended to several others since my experience with them. Will definitely use them again as the need arises. read more

On route 95 and daughters Lexus with 160,000 miles broke on side of the road. Towed to Gerry's. They replaced timing belt for $1200 when as I was subsequently told that they should have know that traveling at highway speed when the timing belt breaks the engine is shot!!! I'm one of those Yelpers who only writes when I have an extremely good or an extremely bad experience. This time, I am delighted to recount the amazing experience I had this morning with Gerry's Tire Service. Last week, I hit a piece of wood on the Bay Bridge when I was coming back to Baltimore that dented my wheel. I had a few people look at it and called around, and I was concerned that my dented wheel was a tire blowout/disaster waiting to happen. Of course I was very anxious driving my car because of that and also because I was worried about how much fixing something like that was going to cost. I called Gerry's yesterday and spoke to John, who encouraged me to bring my car in so they could have a look at it. I arrived at 6 sharp this morning, they took me right away, and I was out of there in 15 minutes. They repaired my dented rim, checked my car's alignment, checked my tire, and sent me on my way. NO CHARGE, no attempt at an upsell, nothing! I should mention I'm a young woman and I went by myself, so I was prepared to battle. But the Yelp reviews on here are exactly right - these guys were fair, kind, and didn't charge me when they totally could have. I will go back any time I need anything done on my car. I am so happy I've found a great mechanic in Baltimore. What a relief! They are wonderful, and I am so grateful. Dropped off my car early in the morning and in less than 2 hours it was ready to go, tire was fixed, and at a reasonable price. Then this week had another nail on a different tire. They put almost 4 miles on my car after balancing the wheels. They said they drove it to test for vibration. I've used a number of shops to have wheels balanced before and I've never had them test drive it - the machine tells them if it's balanced. Oh, and it just happened to be an M3 so I guess they couldn't resist the temptation or something? Be warned. read more

WOW!!!!! This is one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. Living in Baltimore City, you may think that going out of one's way for a customer is a thing of the past. Not at Gerry's. I brought my SUV in with many things that needed attention. These included a new taillight, new passenger mirror assembly, full tune-up, front brakes, oil change and reattachment of sun visor. The dealership had just quoted me $250 for the mirror alone. Gerry's did it for $125! The bill came back WAY under what I was expecting. You know what the best part was? It wasn't the price - which was incredible. It was the service. They are super fast and everyone is extremely friendly. They had my vehicle ready by 11 AM the day I dropped it off and everyone greeted me with a smile, by name. The office is full of lots of candy for customers to snack on, it's kept nice and cool for customers in the summer, and even smells great thanks to some nice scented candles. To top it all off? They did the taillight and sun visor for free. No nickel and diming. Just a great experience. I will be going back. Had a flat tire after a storm. They were very straightforward to deal with. Asked how long till they could look at it and was told about 4 hrs. They delivered. Two hours later I got a call that they had patched the tire and i was all set. Plus price was reasonable.
