As the name suggests Gest specializes in Omelettes, we had the Farmers & the Spanish Version. The Omelettes are very large & full of fillings & are cooked almost in the manner of Crepes & are available in 1 or 2 egg size. Served with Toast. The coffee served is very bland & doesn't add to the experience but the Omelettes are above average in terms of quality, however i downgraded to 3 star as the Spanish was really quite bland including the Salsa served with it. My Wife's Farmers omelet was full of Ham & looked & tasted quite decent.Service was prompt & super friendly, perhaps even a tad too friendly for early Sunday morning. I am NOT an egg lover. I've tried scrambled, deviled, omelettes, and have yet to find one I really like; but I can't get enough of Gest Omelettes. It is the only restaurant where I enjoy eating eggs. Their omelettes are excellent, and it is probably because the eggs are buried in a mountain of potatoes, cheese, sausage, and gravy! The eggs are really just a carrier for greasy goodness. My favorites are the Country and the Farmer's. In addition to the excellent omelettes, Gest has a full menu for breakfast and lunch. They have a large variety of breakfast combos, and typical diner fare. I've never had a meal here that disappointed me. Service is relatively friendly, and very fast. This is a great spot for a hangover breakfast or a quick lunch break and the prices are reasonable too. Keep in mind this is just a diner, but for what it is Gest is great!! read more

Yikes! Yuk! If you're claiming to make 'omelettes', then make 'OMELETTES", not microwave frozen pancake looking, cardboard tasting, broken & folded over scrap lox, barely a schmear of cream cheese and smothered in capers. My wife hated her vege concoction even more, and she's very forgiving! Whatever you're making, it is not an omelette and doesn't even resemble an omelette. If you're making something else, then call it something else and I'm sure it'll be good, for whatever it is. Cold hash browns, cold bacon, and cold toast without any butter. My usual breakfast experience and I was really disappointed. I went with my sister and she ordered the potato pancakes. What she received was looked like a McDonald's hash brown. Nothing fresh. read more

I'm not sure what I just ate. I ordered a 2 egg Western omelette, because I figured it would be pretty hard to screw up. I was wrong. The fact that all of their omelettes include lettuce should've tipped me off. It resembled a taco more than an omelette. It was overflowing with lettuce, and the "egg" looked/felt more like pancake, and I'm not sure the "shell" actually had a taste at all. The salsa on top of the omelette really overpowers any flavor that the omelette may have had on its own, which might be a good thing. All of the ingredients seemed very processed/mushy. If I had closed my eyes, I would've had no idea what I was eating. I guess I applaud them trying to do something different from the normal breakfast food... but I think the menu is very misleading. What I had was definitely not an omelette. I feel like it's deceptive to call it one. Call it an "egg-pancake-taco surprise, smothered in salsa" and you'll probably get a lot less complaints. The "hash browns" should be called "wet potato slices" to avoid confusion, as well. I was struggling to come up with a way to sum up the entire experience. I can't say it was bad... it was just very strange. For food to be this unique/odd, I think it has to taste excellent. It didn't. Also, the prices are high, when compared to some other "gourmet" breakfast establishments in the area. So I recently went back to Gest Omelettes and as much as I would like to give it another star I just can't. The service was atrocious, albeit entertaining to listen to. The waitress was complaining about her job, how she needs a vacation, screaming at the cooks, etc.. Funny, but our food sat on the hot plate as a result of her hissy fit. I would have bumped it up to 4 stars for the corned beef hash, but my eggs were too runny and that whole thing with the waitress. The corned beef hash was excellent, not like the canned hormell you get served most other places. It was American fries as hash, with real shredded corned beef, terrific, but order them well done or the potatoes will be slightly raw. So, after two visits I am able to secure the 3 star rating. It's "alright" for a breakfast spot but there are certainly better places around. read more

We went in for a late lunch around 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon. There were maybe three tables with people, so I was feeling pretty optimistic. Our orders were taken quickly, and arrived to our table very quickly. Things were going well. The Country Omelette was excellent. Very flavorful sausage gravy, outstanding mix of cheese, generous sausage portions... really, the only criticism on the food was it was light on hashbrowns. Where things started going south were when the drinks were empty. The server came back with a bill, but didn't seem to check on drinks. After that, it seems like we disappeared from her radar. No refills. No boxes for leftovers. Nothing. We noticed styrofoam boxes on a shelf near the register, and when my wife went to grab one, that seemed to put us back on the server's radar. "Sure, just help yourself," she quipped with less-than-friendly sarcasm. Ugh. Way to make things more awkward and disappointing. The food is really good, but the service will keep me away. read more

A friend took me here for breakfast and little business before the day began. I will be back, because it is everything you want in a breakfast place. Great Coffee! Not "Bigbucks" coffee, Real coffee. Not as great as described. Portions are huge, The omletts are good, but often have too much of one and not enough of others. I called ahead for carryout and allowed an extra 5 minutes on top of what they told me... Ended up waiting for 10 minutes once arriving at the restraunt. Very expensive for what you get. read more

Ehhhh, their omelettes are weird. All the ingredients are there and the taste is there, but it's the way they are made. The eggs seemed baked and have an odd texture. I was craving an omelette and yelp pulled this place up. Very disappointing. I ordered the Lox and I had to pick through it to find the edible portion. Very dry. I'm not big on omelettes, but my dad is and loves this place. And he's never been disappointed in his omelette. The french toast is awesome, as is the Belgian Waffle. This is the first place that I've had Stuffed French Croissants, and I was not disappointed. It can get a little messy with the amount of marmalade they give you, but is it really suppose to stay in the croissant? The chocolate chip pancakes weren't the best I've ever had, but they were still good. On the other hand, the pumpkin pancakes were a bit disappointing. Maybe it was a fluke but I couldn't really taste the pumpkin. I really like their hash browns, of which I always get a side order. There are a few drawbacks though. 1) There's usually a wait, so get here early. I've been told that they cater to the commuting crowd, though I can't imagine a lot of people stop here for "coffee and a doughnut before work". 2) It gets pretty loud when they're busy. This isn't the place to have that important discussion with a client. 3) While they're usually nice on weekdays, the staff can get snippy sometimes, especially on busy days (every weekend morning till mid-afternoon). 4) The food takes a while to show up, even when they aren't very busy. While it's good on their part for actually making the food, be sure the people with you are entertaining conversationalists. All in all, this is a good place for going out to breakfast with the family. Get here early for less wait on weekends. read more

Maybe because our waitress was new to the job (and didn't suggest we order our omelettes with sauce) or because we simply didn't know what to expect--but we thought it was the worst breakfast ever. Agree with the reviewer who compared the omelette/crepe to styrofoam; it was so dry it was almost inedible. On the plus side, the hash browns were good as was the service. This place has very poor and careless service. For a day where it was not completely packed, the food was also not the best. I had potato pancakes which looked and tasted as if they were frozen. I also got serve brown avocados on the side. We never got asked how the food was one time. I DO not recommend this place and I say this from going there more than once. read more
