Tony and the staff at Getboards are the best on the mountain. I have been an instructor at Bear since 1992 and I get ALL my equipment from Getboards. Best service and best prices - hands down. They will order anything if not in stock and they go out of their way for the customer. I have had them tune my equipment over the years and NEVER had a problem. Every time I go up to the mountain I stop by this shop! Getting rentals for my kids is super fast and easy. The owner and the employees always go the extra mile to make sure the equipment we rent or buy fits our needs. If we ever have a question, the shop is quick to respond. The shop is very easy to jump in and out of on the way to Bear or Summit. The prices are great, cheaper than the mountain with a lot less wait time. When it's time to return the equipment, they make it easy with curbside check in. They have made everything electronic so you don't even have to fill out paperwork. Even better, the board and boot rental was only about $29 where other places were charging upwards of $40. They also have a check in deal which is awesome if it's your first time up at Big Bear. Nicest staff, it was a super busy weekend but they busted their asses to get us our rentals. The packages are great, they'll work with what you need. I recommend going the night before the first day you need the skis, their hours are pretty late, and definitely do the "check in" on Yelp for the 15% off, it pays for the insurance and tax. read more

My boyfriend found this place on yelp. We decided to stick with Getboards instead of other rental places because this place had great ratings and reviews. I'm so happy we came here. It was my first time ever snowboarding and the employees showed me how to tighten my boots and they helped me with everything step by step. They were so patient to help me find different sizes that would fit my feet perfectly so that my toes don't get crushed. The process to rent was very simple. Right when you walk into the store, you go straight to the computers to fill out your information, right after you're done with that, you walk over to try on shoes and get your boards and then you pay at the register. They have a table that is set up outside in the parking lot for returns once you are done with your gears. I stopped by Getboards cause I saw some products they had online that I was interested in and wanted to see it in person. The guys working the counter were extremely friendly and are knowledgeable about products. One of my pet peeves about going to some specialty shops is the pretentiousness of the people working there who believe they are above you since they are very knowledgeable. Not at Getboards! I have never before experienced such amazing customer service! I rented my family of 4 a set of ski for the season and we mistakenly forgot our daughter boots and didn't realize until we were in BB. Get boards just gave us a new pair and said no problem just bring them back when you're up next time. Fast forward two weeks and in our haste packed what we thought was all the boots but ended up with 2 right boots for my daughter (don't ask this is absolutely never happened before!!!). While the rest of the family sat in the car I slunk in and again I received a THIRD pair free of charge. We now have three pairs of boots in total. I wanted to share this the level of trust and customer service was outstanding! We will be renting our skis every season from them as a result. read more

There are 2 Getboards a block away from each other. Friendly service and reasonable prices. You have to return any rentals to the one you rented from, so pay attention to which one you rented from. Also look for Yelp Discounts (often 10%), and other discounts (Lagonita Lodge card is 25%). read more

I absolutely love Getboards! My family's first experience with Getboards was three years ago when we purchased skis, boots, and a helmet (see review from 12/2017). Jump forward to this year. I purchased new boots from a local O.C. ski shop (big mistake). My new boots did not fit my old skis. I went to Getboards and Alex hooked me up! I ended up buying new skis. But, what was super awesome,was that Alex gave me the full price I paid for my old skis (the ones I purchased in 2017 from Getboards), off on my new skis! Saved me hundreds of dollars. Just last weekend (December 2020) my son was complaining that his boots were hurting his feet -so off we went to Getboards. Tony helped up this time. He could have easily talked me into new, larger boots for my growing son, but all my son needed was new socks. Even though Tony was swamped at the time with rentals, he took his time helping my son and I. There are quite a few ski places in Big Bear to go to. However, you cannot put a price on just good old fashioned customer service. The fact that Alex was so helpful and gave me that discount that I was not expecting and the fact that Tony was so kind to my son -Getboards is the only place I will ever go ! read more

I came into this place inquiring on rentals. Nobody greeted me. When i went up to an employee. It was a guy and a girl flirting. I asked them about the rentals. The guy just stared at me for a good 20 seconds then just said down the street . Then he proceeded to give me the death stare again. It was my worst experience i have ever experienced with my family customer service wise. They need to restaff that place or just go out of buisness as a whole entirely. read more

Had to take time to comment on the employees at GetBoards. Made my reservation online for opening day and got the kids' hooked up with skis, boots and poles for the season. Brought in our canned goods and got our own boards waxed too! We left our boards to get waxed so we could beat the impending storm Wednesday evening. Thursday we got snowed in. Called and GetBoards offered to deliver our boards to our cabin first thing Friday morning! Best $20 we've spent in a long time! Thank you Dalton for fitting the kids in their boots so patiently. A really get spot to get your rentals just before you hit the slopes, as it's super close to Bear and Summit! This past trip was so slammed with people coming up to Bear to board, due to the El Niño storm that unfortunately we never made to the slopes.
