Ghassem's service center it great!!! I needed a new wheel bearing put on my Toyota, Toyota quoted me $1300, and Ghassem did it for $500. The service was professional, and they explained everything to me. They let me know that when one wheel bearing goes bad, the other one might do it shortly after. So I'm watching for that, and if it happens, I'll be heading right back to Ghassem's shop. It's on the corner of Clark and Atherton, right where the Strawberry stand always is. Came in because my wiper arm got bent while I was trying to replace my blades. They took a look, fixed the alignment, and helped install the wipers correctly. Took less than five minutes. Well, I just received a call from the owner stating that I was supposed to bring the car in six weeks ago when I know that he was supposed to call when the parts were in. I even told him that I called and talked with his son three times who promised to call back so now they're liars and flakes. I'm a college student and this was the nearest auto shop in my area, I've had my service here done a couple of times, and the prices are average. I've had my oil change and my engine fixed twice with ease and they do their best to get you out no more than two days. Unfortunately, my car had another problem, to the point where my car wouldn't start at all, so I had to get it towed to the shop. Turns out I was told it was a fuel pump problem. Sadly, the price was $700 to fix. I understand the parts, labor, and diagnostics, so I decided to go through with it. But one month later, my car had the same problem and would not start again! Just spent $700 and the problem was still happening. Fortunately, I took my car to another auto shop that specializes in sports cars, so they actually fixed it for only half the cost I was originally charged for! I also had to find out that it was not a fuel problem either :( Overall, this auto shop seems to have great reviews and they did help me out previously, but I did feel scammed after my last trip. read more

Just stopping by to sing the praises, again, of the best auto repair in town. We've used Ghassums for years and today they proved once again why they are the best. My grandson is driving his 30 year old Miata up to Monterey and the route is very desolate in parts. His mom finally reluctantly agreed as long as he had it looked over by a mechanic for any possible issues. He dropped it off yesterday and today was told, with the exception of the requested transmission fluid change, there was nothing to be concerned about. Nick (2nd generation owner) gave him heads up about things to look for in the future, but in no way tried to sell him on things the car didn't need. I may be skeptical, but feel like a young man with an old, but pristine, loved car may have been a target for a less honest repair shop. I LOVE Ghassem's and I HATE going to the auto shop (especially dealerships). I came here again and got EXCELLENT service. Nick fixed my tire instead of giving me a new one, $20. Found an extra hole in it too. He was even so nice to recommend asking his mechanic on how to fix the spark plugs myself. I don't know many mechanics that are honest and do that. In total, I spent no more than $90 to replace my spark plugs and get my tire fixed. I was so close to getting my car towed to Hyundai and spending AT LEAST hundred of dollars. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! I was referred to Ghassem's by a good friend who spoke highly of Nick and the staff's transparent pricing and fairness. I truly believe that I was given advice that Nick would take himself it was his own vehicle and I deeply appreciate that that's how they do business. I was having a slippage issue with my 2010 Audi A3's transmission where, after taking it to one shop, they referred me to the local Audi dealership who was so backlogged that they kept my car for over a week before doing their multi-point inspection and estimating a fee of nearly $14,000 and only warranty'ing the work for 12 months. In stark contrast, Nick was able to refer me to a parts supplier to get a gently used transmission for less than $1,000 and mentioned that it shouldn't cost more than another $1,000-$1,200 to have it installed at a local transmission shop since Ghassem's doesn't specialize in transmission work. It's just wonderful to be able to trust and rely upon skill technicians that you can be confident aren't taking advantage of you and are providing fair, honest service and recommendations. read more

After having to return to Pep Boys 6 times for the same check engine light issue, I decided to give Ghassems a try and I was not at all disappointed. Nick was very friendly and willing to do anything to help me out. I drive a 2008 Mini Clubman and Ghassems is the only place I trust to work on my car. I brought my car in for new ignition coils and spark plugs and not only received the best price for the service in all of Long Beach but also quality German parts and friendly service. During the inspection, Nick also noticed that my valve cover was cracked and waived the labor cost when replacing it. When I opened the hood after picking up my car, I noticed a much more professional job than I had received from any other mechanic before. Ghassems had cleaned the oil that had spilled all over my engine and sealed a hose that kept popping off, all for free. It was a one-and-done visit and the job was completed in a transparent, honest and timely manner. I brought my Mini Clubman back when its battery died, and again received the best service. During the inspection for this visit, Ghassems called me and informed me that there was an issue with my car's timing belt, meaning my car's life had come to an end. This was devastating for me because of how much this car meant to me but they delivered the news professionally and Nick did everything he could to make it better. Even though he had already inspected the car, cleaned the spilled oil off of the engine again, and replaced the old battery with the new one, costing them the labor, time, and parts, Nick waived all costs for me, going above and beyond to make things better. Nick expertly advised me on the next steps for getting rid of my car and offered to inspect the next car I would have to buy for free. There is no other mechanic I would trust to work on my cars. Ghassems is not here to make money off of you. My Mini Clubman and I felt genuinely cared for and were both treated very well by this mechanic. Although his life has come to an end I will 100% be bringing my next car here. read more

I did not choose this mechanic. I came here because the person interested in buying my car asked him to inspect it before they make the purchase. I agreed. The mechanic took the liberty to check my car but when I asked him when the car would be done inspected, he got upset and started to go off on me as if I had no right asking. This is because his service is paid for by the person interested in buying my car and so I guess he didn't feel he needed to be courteous with me. I would never go back here again for any reason. My catalytic converter was stolen on a 2014 prius. The dealership and many shops quoted 3 months to get the parts but I needed my car way sooner. I found this shop through a friend and was told they do great work. Nick worked with my insurance to get my car on the road in 1/3 of the time the dealership quoted. He also gave me a discount on a shield for the catalytic converter to warrant theft.
