Hidden speak easy in the Boulevard food court type area at Cosmopolitan hotel. A bit hard to find but once inside found the place full all evening after 9pm - only about 4 seating areas for couples or small groups plus a number of bar stools. Music was great and perfect level. Martinis were amazing and strong. The nachos as well were really great - we had issue with our waitress forgetting the nachos so we had to wait quite a while but they comped them for the delay at least which was great service recovery. The bartenders here are lively and give this place a fun vibe. Drinks are creative and good and the nachos are huge! First drink I ordered to try and the bartender saw I wasn't drinking it and offered me something else. I don't ask for refunds because I chose to order it even if it's not my favorite so that was a nice gesture that I didn't expect. Such a cute casual spot! I loved the location and after reading a few other reviews it was easy to find. Block 16 food court at the Cosmo, look for the exit door behind the chicken place. Walked right in and found a small table for the two of us, later moved to the bar. Loved the vibes here! It's a small bar so don't expect tons of seating, you need to order with the bartender FYI. Cool little speakeasy tucked away in the back of a food hall at the Cosmopolitan. Seating is rather limited, would recommend getting there early or late. We came about an hour before close and barely snagged two seats. Once seated, the bartender took care of us. He and the one other bartender were attentive, knowing how to manage the crowd. We got the lavender vida loca and the smoked corn and coconut old fashioned because they sounded unique. They were good--strong, but the flavors were pretty mild. If it's a secret, I want in. If it's mezcal, I want in. If it's a cocktail, likely I want in. Combine all three of these and add in a ghost donkey surveying the whole scene, then, oh man, I've arrived where I want to be. I've been lucky enough to find/wander into a few of the "secret" speakeasies in Vegas...this one was only secret in that the entrance was tucked away in the back of the small food court area in the Cosmopolitan...but otherwise there was no gatekeeper or password...you just open the door and you're in. (it's also possible I was there at a lucky time when it was mostly full but not so busy that I needed to wait to find a seat or order.) The atmosphere is cool. I sat near the ghost donkey which is almost all I've ever needed out of any experience. I'm a fan of Mezcal and also of bourbon-based drinks like a Manhattan...so the mezcal-based "Smoked Corn and Coconut Manhattan" seemed like it would be a dream. And it kind of was. Perfectly mixed...familiar flavors but really unlike anything I've had before. I really liked it. My big plan was to head off to another resort to try a NYC slice but my server clued me into another secret of the Cosmopolitan, Secret Pizza, which was about a two-minute walk from Ghost Donkey. So basically what I'm saying is I'm moving to the Cosmopolitan to live there forever, drinking in Ghost Donkey and eating Secret Pizza. A few more corner seats would add an appeal. The server that we had was friendly and pretty fast. Since I happened upon this place for a quick drink with our group I did not view the menu for food items and if food was available. Being so small, I'm not sure food or snacks are served here. Favorite bar in all of Vegas. I come here every time I visit, although I never veered from their specials. Like others have suggested, I recommend either going right when it opens or two hours before closing (last call is usually 45 minutes before they actually close). Peak hours, you'll most likely be waiting for at least an hour. The bar is pretty small. Drinks are fantastic. It's a tequila/mezcal bar so don't expect them to have anything else! I'm a sucker for tequila and this bar satisfies my tequila tastebuds. Their specials are some of the best cocktails I've had so far! Service is great. Bartenders are nice, they'll help direct you to what you might like if you're not well versed with tequila/mezcal. Every time I visit the Cosmo I forget to stop in here and check Ghost Donkey out since after all it is a speakeasy tucked away in a corner. It's dark and small. There's some bar seating and then there's a couple of little tables and couches and things. It's a relaxing environment which was nice. Our server was very sweet and came right over to us. It didn't take long at all to get our drinks. I wasn't super impressed with the drinks unfortunately. I ordered the espresso martini and it was very cinnamon forward and I couldn't get past that taste. I may would see if they could omit the cinnamon on top as the garnish. Hubby ordered the Lucha libre it had mezcal and was very Smokey. It reminded me of whiskey and coke type drink. He felt like it was well balanced and good. We opted to not have another drink as they were getting busy and it was a little awkward sitting on the couch with people standing right in front of you. This is yet another speakeasy lounge in Las Vegas. Like several others, this is located inside a large casino hotel. This is both good and bad. It's convenient to get to if you're staying nearby and it's relatively easy to find. It can also be extremely busy. This is not a large space and there are no actual limitations to the number of people in the lounge. If it's packed, come back some other time. Terrible bartender! Wife & I went shortly after open on a Tuesday. We arrived & it's small (max occupancy 27) but the decor was nice. Donkey bartender, don't know his name, older white guy with thinning hair, said there's a spot behind you. I told him we'd just order from the bar. I asked for a menu & he shot back how would he know? Look around! There's only 6 in the bar or something like that. OK, whatever. A couple next to us let them use their menu. While we looked at the menu, someone asked him what's a drink he'd get. He responds, "Me? I'd get a beer!" kind of intimating that all of us were stupid for paying for $20 cocktails here, where he works & makes a living. The lady next to us had some light banter and he asks what they did that day & they responded, hung out at the pool, relaxed, had a few drinks, gambled... He responds, "Oh so you don't work for a living?!" She, of course, corrects him, no, they're here on vacation! I can't tell if he hates his job, hates tourists, or what but he's one of the worst bartenders I've encountered, esp for a bar charging $20 bucks a cocktail. Eventually, we order, my wife orders a margarita & he asks her TWICE if she wants it rimmed with salt or tajin... she responded TWICE that she wants salt. After ordering we moved over to the side of the bar & there was a server a foot away from us at the end of the bar. Different experience, nice, pleasant, server. When our drinks arrive, my wife's drink was rimmed with tajin instead of salt... Gimme a break!. He asked twice, she responded twice, the place wasn't even full. Rather than make a sense we just settled the tab & went onto any of the other great bars at the Cosmo. Drinks were good, but we'd never return to this bar with that bar tender that hates his job & hates his customers. Mgmt should have him move off strip to hand out with locals & hate on tourists that keep the strip open or go back to a dive bar where he can hate his job in peace. Visited on a Friday night around 8pm. It wasn't hard to find with the help of some yelp reviews that do an excellent job of land marking where to look. When we first entered, it was packed. Lots of bodies and very little seating. My sister wanted to immediately leave. However, we waited about 5 minutes and were able to snag seating on the couch next to the entrance door. My husband and I fought our way over to the other side to reach where the bartender was serving drinks while my sister saved our seats. I ordered the lavender cocktail. It had a very Smokey flavor to it that I wasn't so fond of. We ordered the truffle nachos to share at the bar and they brought it over to where we were sitting. It was delicious!! We had such a great time at this place. The decor is so fun and the bartenders are knowledgeable and attentive. It's very small, so be prepared to grab a drink and stand until a seat opens up, but everyone in there is on the same page and friendly. So adorable. Super cute spot. The drinks were very tasty and exactly the vibe we were looking for at that time. We had an unfortunate run in upstairs at another establishment and we were looking for a happy hour or just a fun energy hour. This spot was a wee bit hidden but ask around and look for the donkey. It was a little crowded but there was a waitress so we were able to order drinks and receive them in good time. We managed two little stools and a table to enjoy our drinks. I didn't do much research beforehand except figuring out where it was, so wasn't aware that they are a Mezcal/Tequila bar only. I did not have any complaints about the tequila part, but I'm not the biggest fan of Mezcal so they happily swapped it out on the drink that I ordered. They do have a small menu of food as well, mostly consisting of appetizers, like nachos, and chips and guac. Ghost Donkey is a true speakeasy in that it is TINY. It's jammed in what almost must have been some sort of storage closet. While the ambiance can't be beat, seating is incredibly limited, and if you do find a seat, be prepared to get friendly with the tables around you. Overall, I loved my experience here and would love to come back, but definitely tough to plan a night here, knowing that you may not be able to get in. The Donkey is hidden at the back of the Cosmo food court. The door under an exit sign has a Donkey on it; you need to go against your instincts and open it. Inside is a spot that holds less than 30 people and has excellent lighting and a fun vibe. All the drinks are Tequila or Mezcal. The bartenders rock and they never slow down. Ghost Donkey shouldn't be a secret but perhaps better left to be one before they run out of space. I'm going to stay where Ghost Donkey is located other than its on the 2nd floor of the Cosmos. Once inside the space is limited and if you happen to go during peak times, its not for the claustrophobic. I got there just as happy hour ended and found a little space by the exit door that had a adjacent shelf. My server who was one of that bartenders, Kelly was so attentive and genuine. Matter of fact, everyone at Ghost Donkey was super chill and cool. I wasn't sure what I wanted so I took some additional time that Kelly gave and ended up ordering El Pistolero. El Pistolero is a great drink but it can be spicy for some folks. I have a high tolerance for all things spicy so it didn't bother me at all. El Pistolero does pack a punch. I would say its not a heavy pour but a damn good value pour for the price of the drink. In my opinion, you're not being overcharged. There are other drinks and some snacks. I wasn't sure what the plan was for dinner with colleagues so I took the opportunity to order some chips and salsa. There are different salsas with one of them having a habanero base. I believe its the green one. The chips are basic and perhaps too stiff / crunchy. There were not thin and crispy. I decided a needed a second drink and whatever the Octogenarians ordered with the pint sized donkey garnish was too cute to pass up. Kelly did warn me that the drinks was super sweet. I appreciate her letting me know and I was well prepared for the sour / sweet twisted face that I was going to make after my first slurp from the straw. The drink is meh. Look, if you're into that type of drink kudos to you. I would rather have another El Pistolero with guns blazing but the little donkey was too cute to pass up . I knew from the moment I saw it I had to bring it back for my daughter. I totally dig Ghost Donkey, it's place to visit, get your vibe on, meet some friends, get s drink with colleague but be forewarned the space is limited. You may jockey for a space multiple times during visit to get the seat you want. Kelly and staff were a 10/10 ~ True professionals in every sense of the word. So it's a hidden bar that you have to know where you're going in order to go ahead and find it. I thought it was pretty good though because I like hidden bars. If you read any of my reviews before you know I like hidden bars and speakeasies. If you go into Cosmo on the second floor, need to go to the food court, you can find this bar called the ghost donkey. You have to walk inside of the food court and then go behind hattie B'sb hot Chicken. Look for the donkey on the door to find the bar itself. It's a smaller space about 30 people give or take, but it's still a very full environment. The environment was very small but it was very friendly. As soon as we walked in the bartender definitely took care of us. Order some margaritas, which is nothing major, but they have a menu on the wall that has their specialties if you want to dabble in that. But, the margaritas were good though so I would definitely advise to suggest. It was the well tequila, and you know how sometimes the well liquor is lol. It is nothing amazing but is an experience you just have to go ahead and walk through and do if you're on the same hidden bar path that I'm on. read more
