This is the kind of experience that reminds you how much good customer service can completely change a first visit. This past weekend, our daughter had a game at Cypress High School. We were headed toward REI to grab some outdoor chairs and decided to stop at GHOST Sando Shop in Huntington Beach. I've driven past this place plenty of times and never really knew what it was. It also happened to be one of the only places open in the shopping center that early, so we figured, why not? Man, we had no idea what we were missing. We ordered the Melrose for ourselves and a Club for our daughter. Marco took our order and was also the one making the sandwiches. A few minutes after we sat down, he actually walked over and asked me, "Are you sure you want the pepperoncini and tomato on the Club?" My first thought was basically, uhhh... yeah, of course I do! Then it clicked. The Club was for our daughter. Marco had remembered that from our conversation when we ordered and knew that a lot of kids probably aren't exactly excited about pepperoncini and tomatoes. Meanwhile, Dad over here completely forgot to ask for them off. That might seem like such a small thing, but THAT is customer service. Marco wasn't just taking an order, collecting payment, and moving on to the next customer. He was actually paying attention. He remembered who the sandwich was for and took the extra few seconds to come over and double check before making it. Good looking out, Marco. Seriously. And that wasn't the only interaction we had with him. Marco was incredibly friendly from the moment we walked in. He talked with us, answered questions, and even gave us suggestions on other sandwiches we should try the next time we come back. Nothing felt forced or scripted. It was just genuine conversation from someone who seemed to actually care whether we enjoyed our experience. There were only two guys working while we were there, yet everything was running smoothly. The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was relaxed, the bright green interior gives the place its own personality, and there's plenty of seating inside along with a really nice outdoor patio area. And most importantly, the sandwiches were GOOD. The Melrose was a great first choice, and Melody enjoyed her Club, thankfully without Dad accidentally loading it up with pepperoncini. We also grabbed some Calypso lemonades, which went perfectly with everything. We originally stopped here simply because it was open and convenient. Now it's somewhere we'll intentionally come back to. There are thousands of places where you can buy a sandwich. What makes you remember a restaurant is usually the people behind the counter. Marco made us remember GHOST. Excellent food, clean restaurant, great atmosphere, and genuinely outstanding customer service. We'll definitely be back, and next time, Marco, we're taking you up on those recommendations. read more

We really enjoyed our visit! There was just one person working when we stopped in, and she was absolutely amazing. She was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive while handling everything on her own. Despite being the only person working, the service was quick and she had such a great attitude. I like that the trendy sandwich joints these days get creative with their offerings, but it'd be nice if they also offered the traditional classic sandwiches as well. I actually wanted a traditional hot pastrami. Which, I coulda gotten via the "make your own" option. Pricey. We got three large sandies with chips = $60 ducats. I don't need a sandwich with 10 ingredients, a choice of 10 aiolis and a few "special spreads." This superb sandwich shop is located at Bella Terra...sort of. It's on the bottom floor of a mixed-use building on the Old Navy side of the mall. It's not that visible from the parking lot, but definitely worth the hunt. The exterior has several tables near a fountain for dining on a nice day and several tables indoors. The sole fellow working the shop was very friendly and helpful in answering questions I had. They have three sizes of sandwiches - shorty, large, and extra large. I decided on a large Howdy Sando. The Howdy, like all their sandwiches, comes on Dutch Crunch bread and has grilled chicken, thick bacon, sweet BBQ sauce, mayo, melted mozzarella cheese, lettuce, and chives (it also comes with red onion but I requested to hold that ingredient). Rather than a fountain drink, I went to their fridge and grabbed a bottle of Jones Orange Cream Soda. I sat inside and enjoyed my lunch immensely. The bread had a fantastic, crunchy crust with a soft but sturdy bread beneath. There were plenty of ingredients piled between the bread, and I especially loved their housemade sweet barbecue sauce. Lettuce is usually just a sandwich ingredient that isn't given much thought but the chopped lettuce in this sandwich was so fresh and vibrant it really escalated the taste of the overall sandwich. Each of the ingredients combined to make this one of my favorite sandwiches. Surprised I haven't seen this place even though I've passed this area so many times! Finally another sandwich shop to try. My boyfriend and I got the Firebird and Santa Monica (L) to try. Our favorite was hands down the Santa Monica! Everything topped off with the Dutch Crunch bread brought it all together. The flavors were amazing and the portion was huge. It was refreshing and not too filling with all the heavy sauces. On the other hand, the Firebird was creamy and a delicious half to have alongside the Santa Monica. We tried this location at Bella Terra yesterday, and although we struggled a bit to find it at first, it was definitely worth looking for. This spot is a family-owned and veteran-owned business, which made it even nicer to support. They offer three different sizes to choose from. We tried the tuna sandwich and the Melrose, one of their most popular items, with a few modifications. The woman taking our order was super chill, and the guy who prepared our food was incredibly helpful--he even had the warmest smile when handing us our order. Nestled in Bella Terra it would be easy to pass right by this little sandwhich shop, but apparently the respiration of this place makes sure no one passes this place by. Lots and lots of people getting sandwiches to go and lots of mobile delivery pick ups. This place had three different sized sandwiches. No, not sized by length but instead sized by height. The more meat and goodies inside the sandwich, the larger your sandwich becomes. Take this as a warning..... the regular sandwhich is already stuffed and pretty large so definitely order the bigger sizes if your appetite feels it can conquer the challenge. I couldn't even make it through half of my sandwich. My companion of course devoured his whole sandwhich and he got one of the bigger sizes (he was pretty hungry). They are known for their toasted Dutch crunch roll which is delicious. I got the club with no cheese and no mayo. Light blast sauce. I thought I said no pepperoncinis but they did put some in my sandwich. That was fine because I just picked them out. It was a good turkey sandwich. Pretty standard but packed with all the ingredients. I probably ate only about 1/4 to 1/3 of my sandwich. I really should have shared my sandwich because there was so much left over. My companion got the pastrami mami. He said it was really delicious and packed with meat. He pretty much inhaled the sandwich. He said the pastrami was good quality and not too fatty. This is a nice option for lunch. Just keep in mind you have to find parking at Bella Terra and walk over to the sandwhich shop, which can be kind of a pain in a huge center like Bella Terra - especially in the late afternoon/evening or on a weekend. read more

Wow. Another great addition to the Grand Central Market. Always so hard to decide what to eat here, but finally had a chance to try this sandwich shop. There was buy one get a free item deal on Uber Eats pick up that made this place a bargain to try it. The bread for the sandwiches are really good. I like the bread here better than Ike's and Earl's. They have three sizes, personally, I like ordering the large. The large is big enough for me for as one meal or it's a solid snack for two people. If you're with friends at the market and would like to try multiple restaurants here, then I would recommend sharing a sandwich. read more

If you're looking for great sandwich shop with some phenomenal cold cuts - Ghost Sandi will not fill your stomach, but it'll fill your spirits too! We got the Phoenix and the Uncle Nikki - and the Phoenix definitely reminded me of Ike's Ménage a Trois. I wish they added a bit more chicken in there, but it was still pretty tasty! I will say that their Dutch bread is superior to any other sandwich bread I've had in a while. If you're a fan of cold cuts (like I am) I highly recommend the Uncle Nikki. Filling, delicious, and overall really well crafted. They only have the Dutch crunch bread and my BLT sandwich had a lot of bread, a lot of lettuce hardly any tomato and maybe six strips of bacon which didn't make for a very hearty sandwich in my opinion, especially for the value of what it cost. The large was 17 after tax. The service was great very attentive and fast and I love the ambience inside. They offer catering, chips and cookies. My husband really enjoyed the sandwich. I liked how nicely cut it was and how tightly packed it was. It wasn't overly messy to eat. The acid from the spread helped balance the fatty and rich bacon flavors. They had indoor and outdoor seating options. Outside, there was a beautiful view of the water fountain and the huge Christmas tree. They had a neon sign inside. It's also nice that they have 6 inch sandwich options if you're looking for a smaller meal. The bad: It took longer than we expected for our order to be ready. The interesting: They have several SoCal locations. We actually came to eat here after eating a full meal next door because it looked so fun and delicious. I've been to the LA location once before and had to check out this one while I was in the area. I got the Uncle Nikki sandwich and it was packed with so much flavor. Their homemade Italian Dressing is sweet and compliments the whole sandwich well along with the Dutch Crunch Bread. This has to be one of my favorite dutch crunch breads in OC as of 2025. Ike's is way too sweet for me. There is also plenty of seating inside and outside. I did order here recently on Postmates and they totally got my order wrong though, I asked for no peppers or onion but it was on it when I got the order :( read more

I used to live in Berkeley and Dutch crunch bread was ever up there but when I've had it in SoCal it's never as good until today. Their Dutch crunch is perfect. It's crunchy but still soft and chewy. It's a little sweet. Not too thick. Just perfect to hold all that meat, cheese and veggies. There was the perfect amount of Italian dressing The large was enough for two meals for me. Just order when you get there because your sandwich will be made right away and will be sitting for the 45 minutes it says on their website to wait for your order. The sandwich itself wasn't terrible except for the fact there was little meat and bread was super soggy at the bottom and burnt at the top. For $15.62 I expected a decent at minimum warm sandwich. Service was very unengaging. There were no customers and staff was in the back. They gave me my bag and turned away so fast.
