I'll start this by saying I love Ghost Town's beers and have thankfully had many can and draft selections over the years. I finally made an effort to visit the original tap room. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While I was glad to come, I felt like this spot had seen better days, it was a little dirty and felt like the whole space needed some love.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]On my visit there was a steady stream of people, but never super busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bartenders were friendly. You order at the bar then sit. They also have pinball machines and outdoor seating. Prices are reasonable and beers delicious of course! I was thankful to get to try a few new limited releases. They also have a large to-go selection too.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great vibe, plenty indoor and outdoor seating, excellent service and foosball/pinball available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We will definitely be back to try more! Wifey really liked her oblivion hazy. The sours were all pretty solid in their own way, though the stand out for me was infected mind followed by sorcerer moongrass. They have a couple little snacks for sale (hard pretzels, smart pop) but there was also a pop up outside with food on a Friday night.

10/10! I love Ghost Town and have been drinking their beers for a long time! Been wanting to try the brewery for a while and finally made it out there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a great space, they have a large indoor area, outside covered seating, and arcade games in the back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's dog friendly so we extra love that![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The servers were both super friendly and we will definitely be back!

The great Helles Awaits Helles Lager!

I have had Ghost Town Brewing before but for some reason I didn't get a review posted for it. Well regardless better late than never as there are a couple things I really like about this brewery. I'll stick to what their primary product is to start and that's craft beer. I am glad I had a refresher here for my memory as I really liked the two beers I had from them of late. The first one was the Helles Lager named Helles Awaits. I do love Helles Lagers very much and this one was no exception with a hint of ginger, biscuity and a clean aftertaste. Like all Helles Lagers it is nice and light bodied which I can appreciate as more often than not these days it's what I prefer. But a beer that I liked even more than that was their Cerberus New England IPA. The flavor profile here just hit the spot perfectly. Maybe it was the day where an IPA just sounded amazing but regardless Steve and I enjoyed it a lot. The flavor profile with this beer is tropical, hoppy (you can also detect hop oil too), creamy in body and a fun mouthfeel to it. A very good IPA. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The second aspect that I really like with this brewery is their gothic or horror type themes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While I haven't accrued too much Ghost Time swag, gear and merch I do have some and I really have liked that as well which adds another spike of surprise that I haven't written a review yet because I often do enjoy themes of ooky and spooky.

4++ I just recently learned of Ghost Town Brewing myself at the Firestone Walker Invitational, but apparently my friends have known of this place for a while. I visited their West Oakland location recently. There's definitely a theme going on inside. The beertenders were very friendly and the vibe here is between heavy metal/ goth. I don't think they made food themselves, but there was a food stand set up outside. I personally ordered the porter and a sour. For me, the sour is a little on the tart side, but the porter was solid. A really cool space to drink beers. I bought a four pack to go as well. Beer-wise, the more I learned of them from my friends I think they're really known for the West Coast style IPAs. Definitely a great spot for beers. Another bonus about the location is that it's actually pretty close to some other awesome breweries or tap rooms as well so a sort of a crawl can be done.

So this is their warehouse-y brewery where you can chill in a large open warehouse-y space, sample ample choices of brews in a quite unique atmo. They have another spot in a more foot traffic neighborhood (Laurel), but this is where they actually brew all their beers and if you like to actually be around massive brewery equipment, then this West Oakland location should be the choice. This brewery tasting hall is unique in that it has a goth/macabre vibe that is done in a whimsical way versus creepy and dark. Fun and creative art work, vintage pinball machines with 'scary' themes on display (not playable), and a very eclectic playlist that'll bump anything from Siouxie and the Banshees to Ministry to some hard death metal that I couldn't even identify but was entertained. I think they're called Ghost Town because this building used to be a coffin/casket manufacturer back in Oakland's industrial days. Beers were pretty good. Lots of IPAs of course but I did find their versions to be cleaner and lighter than most, with still a good hop presence. I'm kinda tired of heavy and burly IPAs to be honest. I found their Death Wax IPA to be quite good and balanced that I even took home a 4 pack to share with the hometown buds. But they have many other brews that aren't IPAs like Pilsners and lagers to even some sours. So very hipster friendly. The weekend day we were there, a mobile pizza stand was outside, that I can't remember the name, but they were so good, especially with the brews here. So I don't know if they rotate mobile food options, but I do know that their other location has an actual food set up, so that one is more restaurant-y, if you wanna go that route. I was actually surpised in how many families with kids were here as well. Go figure. Dog friendly place too, even inside the building which gets a thumbs up from me. I think this may be my new favorite brewery in Oaktown. Just need to solidify a few more visits to earn that fiver. But well played Ghost Town, well played.

Ghost Town Brewing got on my radar after seeing them keep winning medals for their IPAs. As someone always in the search of a good West Coast IPA, it's easy to find them here with two boards dedicated to the style. Low God: A Dry Hopped Pilsner with Nelson and HBC 586. When I ordered dry hopped pilsner the bartender said 'which one' and I almost cried with enjoyment. This was light in body, but had a big expression of Nelson and 586. Devilish Wit: An Oak Fermented and Aged Belgian Wit beer brewed with Indian Coriander Seed, Chamomile Flower, and Local Oranges / Lemons. Bright, citrusy, and fluorescent. As I have said before, I love a good Hazy (in this case in Wit form). Leviathan: A West Coast IPA made with Citra, Nectar, and Nelson hops. Two NZ hops joined up with Citra to blend orange citrus with other tropical fruits like mango / overripe melon. Inhume: An IPA brewed with Citra, Centennial, and Simcoe, Clean and classic, not much more to say. If you like IPAs and are in Oakland you can't pass up a visit to Ghost Town. __________

You pick your fruit and it's served with fresh lime juice. I picked strawberry and it was like a perfect virgin strawberry margarita. I added some soda water to dilute it a little and is was still delicious and refreshing. The summer toast was good. The today was perfect and crunchy. The labneh was cool and creamy and topped with basil, bacon, peaches, mint, and hot honey. Maybe it was too many flavors because the peach didn't come through, but it was tasty. Tl;dr - A true beer garden ala Texas/Midwest, with the food, beer, and relaxed summer vibes you all…read moredream of. There's something for the whole family aside from some truly tasty beers. I've been coming here for awhile, ever since one fine afternoon I was in town on business and was feeling a need for craft beer. I was once the world's predominant authority on craft beer in my own mind, but years of chugging ales have decimated my tolerance for it. Anywho, the first thing you'll notice about this spot is it's out there, pretty far off from downtown Alameda tucked away in an old military pier alongside some other more enterprising establishments. Lots of parking so there's that. Inside, they are definitely doing that thang, massive brewery stacks dominate the background but the space is massive so it supports an almost endless amount of tables, benches, and spots to hide out. Arcade machines, outdoor activities (even a kids sandbox) really add the "Adventureland" elements that make it more than just a standard brew joint. If you've had their beer, it's definitely on the expensive side, but they keep a healthy variety that I would say is all reliably refined and delicious. Its no 2000 era Bells or modern day Founders, but I particularly like their love hazy and the Mexican style lagers. My friends who like sours say they are also quite good. Although this place is really not directly affiliated with the business it's definitely a reason I go so I can't leave it out -- they have food trucks outside that handle most of the food there and the one they have there always has one of the best burgers I've ever had in the bay, hands down. It's a blackened blueberry and blue cheese burger and even though I don't like blue cheese, this unholy alliance is faaaaaaan-friggin-tastic. Must try. Service is casual, they do flights which is a great way to try things. Not sure about any happy hours, would love to see them get a mug/growler thing going here for discounts, they might have something already I'm just not aware of but nothing is obvious when I've gone. It's a great spot to kick it with some friends on a nice day or late afternoon, having a few beers and relaxing. California doesn't really do the beer garden thing like we do in the Midwest, you'll find spots like this all over Michigan so it's nice to see something of the same type here finally. I believe dogs are allowed too ala Texas vibes, but not 100% on that so I'd check ahead of time. Personally, I cannot stand seeing dogs at restaurants and bars so even if they do allow it, those aren't your kids, can we start reporting places that allow dogs without signage? If I brought a raccoon in on a leash would you be fine with that? It's a sanitation issue. Anyways, I digress, if you like beer, you like fun, and you like damn fine burgers, this is the best spot on the other side of the pond. 'nuff said.

I've actually walked past this building before, back when Horn Bbq was next door, but not sure if they were able to open during the same time, as Horn had to move out a few years back. Very industrial vibe here, both outside and inside. For some reason most people were congregated indoors, and nobody was on their patio. The brewery equipment is visible but is blocked off. They do very little inside that warehouse-y space to decorate or give it their stamp. Totally just looks like a warehouse, whereas other breweries with a same type of industrial space like Drake's and Ghost Town have stamped their look and image. I tried a sampler here 4 brews and think they are about $2.50 per 5 oz glass, which is a generous gesture. Of the 4, I really liked 3 of them, and one was kinda weird to me. But good success ratio. I loved their Amber which had a great roasty malt character and hopped in a balanced manner. Tried 2 of their IPAs and one was a winner, that I got a pint of it to go with my pizza from next door. Awesome combo that I would love to revisit, Brix Factory's beer with June's Pizza. Seriously smacks!

It gets super packed often however, the staff are always kind and efficient. The buffalo wings and (garlic) fries are always a must. I feel like the ranch could be tastier (my favorite is from Wingstop). The Fried Chicken Sandwich was not good at all. It was lacking soo much flavor and honestly only order this if you want cuts in every crevice of your mouth. I'll be trying something different next visit for sure.

Really glad I did. It has the same great energy as the original but feels like its own thing too. The ambiance is really cool, the kind of place you just want to hang out at for a while. Tons of seating so we never felt cramped, and the crowd was super friendly and laid back. Also a great spot if you're a dog person because there were pups everywhere, which is always a good sign about a place. My bestie and I shared the brussels sprouts and wings and both were really good. My aunt got the fish tacos and loved them. Solid food that hits the spot. We also tried the Ossuary Porter and it was great, really smooth and easy to drink. Good selection overall! The kind of spot where you show up for one drink and end up staying way longer than you planned. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area and probably dragging my aunt along again.
