This is definitely a fun place. I absolutely loved the skull themed decoration motif. All outdoor seating in a kind of beer garden was lovely on a warm Saturday evening. The food was quite good, the beer I tried was excellent, the music playing on the speakers also added nicely to the ambience. I tried the Geisterfaust. While the can is intimidating the beer poured out with light color. Nice foam head. At 5.6% it tasted very cool and refreshing with a bit of tang. Better than a Bud Light. We had been meaning to go here for months. Glad we finally did. They started brewing in 2012 and opened this taproom in March of this year. Their beers are really great and true-to-style. We opted for Grim Reaper New England Hazy IPA, Blanc Double IPA brewed with Sauvignon Blanc juice, and Lecherous New England Hazy IPA. All three were excellent. The space is really nice with open modern decor. There was also a food popup but we didn't partake. The staff was nice to talk to as well. We will definitely return. read more

As described by one of the bartenders, Ghost Town Brewing is a hip new bar "conceptualized by dudes, birthed by dudes, and decorated by dudes." GTB is located in an old, repurposed warehouse that was reportedly once a coffin factory - hence the coffin-and-cross-themed decor and sweatshirts (which I will hopefully own one day). The walls are painted dark red and black, the lighting is dim, and the ceilings are super high. The back of the bar is filled with brewing machinery, steel barrels, and casks (not to be confused with caskets) of beer. Heavy metal plays rages in the background while 19 beers are served on tap. Staff is super nice and will give recommendations based on your preferences. Samples are generously given - try the Cat Hoarder porter (actually made with chocolate and milk!), the "Scumbag" cream ale (see: beer by dudes, for dudes), and the Foreign Object stout - at 7%, you won't need many of these to lose sloppily at foozball. Awesome 3 month old brewery. Came here with a group of friends on a Sunday, each with a Groupon - $19 for 2 pints and a 64 oz growler (other options available as well). Unfortunately, they ran out of growlers so we were given 2-32 oz crowlers for any 2 beers aside from nitros. Great deal still 19 beers on tap. They had pretty much every type of beer: hazy ipa, DIPA, pale ale, cream ale, sour, stout, porter, nitros, etc. Theres something for everyone. I liked practically every beer I tried and that does not happen often. Beers were cheap too. Anywhere from $3-5 for a 10 or 16 oz pour (depending on how strong). Most were 16 oz though. Growler fills were $10-20, +$5 for the growler itself. No food truck when we went, but they were selling grilled cheese sandwiches on the side. No other food was available. Service was good. Beertenders were more than happy to let us sample before we purchased. Very spacious inside with a ton of seating, cornhole, foosball, board games, a large projector for sports. Very cool spot in Oakland! The space is very open--lots of indoor seating (I don't believe there was any outdoor seating), and you can see the machines brewing the beer. Prices were good in my opinion! Some beers for as little as $3! If you bike, there is tons of indoor area to lock up bikes which is awesome and appreciated! There are several arcade games inside. They also have a large projector that projects onto the wall. They have a couple snacks you can buy when ordering drinks, otherwise when I was there on a Sunday afternoon they had a food truck out at front. On our day of brewery crawl, our group's second stop was Ghost Town Brewing. It's located on Adeline St. in West Oakland in a gray non-descript warehouse building on a corner. I've driven down Adeline many occasions and never realize this was a craft brewery. Street parking around the building was easy. The brewery operations is in the back area of the warehouse and the tap room side is large with many tables with seating for four and up. You order from the tap bar and enjoy your brews at one of the tables. The menu offerings on this day consisted of seven lights, nine IPAs and 6 malt forwards. Prices range from $5 -$6 for a 16 oz pour. I and another friend opted for the Flight, which was four five ounce pours for $20. Since I love the porters and stouts, I went with the Cat Hoarder porter, Unholy Imperial stout, Foreign Object nitro stout, and Cat Hoarder nitro. They were all delicious with their own unique nuances. But out of the four I enjoyed the Unholy Imperial stout. For entertainment, there was a foosball table and three pinball machines. There wasn't any food service. They have beer in cans in the refrigerator that you can buy. The crowd was nice and mellow. Great beer in a nice tap room. I'll be back again. read more

Feels like one of the last few places in the Bay you can get a pint of craft beer for $5. On top of that, it's pretty good stuff. The day we went it was mostly Pale Ales of sorts but hey that's probably what sells. Wife and I enjoyed the Pilsner, Key Lime Sour, and Porter (Nitro), with the Pils the standout for its crisp, clean drinkability. Space is awesome too. Big, open, lots of seating. So you are in Oakland on a food tour, and while you wait to score your table at the best Soba noodle experiment, Soba Ichi, you want beer. Really good beer. Walk a block, and you get to Ghost Town Brewing. 20+ kinds of beer on tap. All brewed with love in their giant steel containers. Tip: Get a sampler, or like us, get 2 samplers. This allows your group to sample light to dark, pilsner to the haziest of IPA's and decide what everyone wants to get drunk on. We enjoyed the beer. However, this is no fieldworks. They are good, but with experience, they will get better. Worthy of your liver though. While you are sampling your brews slowly, they have some games that will make you recall your youthful days, when you could drink for days and wake up to more drinking. Sorry, Uno, Life, Monopoly, and some new kickstarter games: Joking Hazard that has the description 'a game in which you compete with your friends and enemies to finish an awful three-panel comic, from a deck of cards with millions of possible combinations.' Think Cards Against Humanity turns very very naughty. If you are hungry, there's a Taco truck outside, and they encourage you to bring your food inside to enjoy with your beer. We brought a group of six to Ghost Town on a whim and were so thrilled that they exceeded our expectations. It was a casual crowd with folks coming off bike rides, coming with friends for parties, they had a restaurant serving pulled pork and smoke meats. But the star of the show was the beer! The middle age cismale bartender around 2 PM today (Friday) displayed patronizing behavior when I tried to order a beer (asked if I could count when I asked how many sour beers they offered-- I was just accustoming myself to their display sections as it was my first time there). I named that 'mild jab'/disrespect and like most straight cismales, he laughed it off and said it was just a joke (he also appeared surprised I spoke up immediately). He did that again after I looked confused/surprised by another rude/inappropriate comment. If I was a Chad or straight cismale (like what appeared to be the majority of the customers at that time), I highly doubt he would have acted the way he did. Fellow womxn & queers, plz call out any sexist or disrespectful behavior if you have capacity (even though these disrespectful males should be figuring it out themselves and working on their oppressive mindsets and practices). While the sour beer was quite good and bike parking was convenient, my friends and I were truly taken aback by his behavior (this is the Bay for goodness sake) and will not be returning to this establishment. The other location in the Dimond District was relatively more welcoming when I went awhile back. Cool place to grab a beer. A flight of 4, 4 oz pours is $10. I think pints range from $5 -$8. A groupon brought me here and I'm glad I discovered it. The taps rotate on a constant basis and there are many different styles of beer and I'm sure you can find something you like. There are also growlers and crowlers available. I enjoyed everything I tried in my flight. I had a coffee flavored beer called burial grounds which was interesting, a nitro stout, a Belgian style beer, and one called final rites. The space is on the dark side. There is indoor bike parking. There is also street parking if you drive. There is a projector screen where either sports or movies are played. There are a handful of board games and card games for your enjoyment. There are 3 pinball machines. There is free foosball, free corn hole. There is a rotating food vendor operating from inside, tacos on some nights, grilled cheese on others, I forget what else. Dog friendly and there were several well behaved dogs roaming about. For my very 1st review on Yelp, I cannot imagine it being Ghost Town Brewery. Yes, I am a no one special, but who cares. There are so many of us out there, and this is the perfect place to enjoy with friends. Once you have your first drink, and it becomes your favorite, Ghost town will beckon you back with open arms. Flights, Pints, and Growlers, Oh my. I came in for my birthday and left with some great memories. They have a variety of board games to play while you drink, 3 pinball games, corn hole, music television and best of all it's dog friendly. Who would not like/love this place. I absolutely recommend Ghost Town. The down side is that it's too far from where I live in EPA. But it's worth the drive and I can't wait to go back. I took home two growlers for my birthday, and I can take them back to get them refilled. Maybe the 1st one will be free for my review being Ghost town as my first post ha ha ha. A bit flabbergasted by the service I received this Tuesday evening. Karaoke night. Female staff member with nose piercing, wearing black hoodie, hovered around my friend and I who were quietly drinking a pint and having a conversation, and gave us suspicious looks, eventually coming over to confirm we hadn't opened the to-go beers we purchased (which you cannot drink inside the brewery). She said "I don't trust white men" and was very rude. I assumed she was making a bad joke, and gestured in the most exaggerated way possible like I was going to chug all four to-go beers at once, which resulted in her kicking us out. Guess they don't want our money. Obviously won't be coming back and, probably now, neither will anyone I know. (But maybe that was the point.) read more

Yesss it's open! We stopped by months ago since it's a stop on the Oakland Ale Trail to find that it wasn't open yet unfortunately. Well, the wait was well worth it. I'm so happy a brewery like this opened up nearby. And it was all positives during our Saturday afternoon experience. Ghost Town is such a fun brewery! My friends and I came here on a Groupon. We got the Brewery Experience for Four for $35 instead of $60, which was an amazing deal. I ordered the Maldoror, the Lecherous Haze, and the Locrian. The last one was the group favorite. The staff is very friendly, there are lots of seating and bike parking inside (themed as tombstones!), and it is dog friendly. It was not too crowded when we got there around 8 on a Saturday night, and as the night went through, there was only one group of people and us. I love that they have cornhole and foosball! The latter is my favorite game and I usually don't find it in bars in the East Bay. We had a super fun night! read more

Ghost Town Brewery has some great potential. I love the open warehouse set up. I wish there was an area for outdoor seating, but there's not much to see outside. There is bicycle parking inside, a corn hole, and a screen playing classic movies. I did a flight with Maldoror Saison, Hale Saison, Final Rites, and the Locrian. I think my fave was the Final Rites. As a baseline, I'm more of a amber, reds, and sours type of person. I'm not big on the IPAs. This has nothing to do with the beer, but I thought they should make their restrooms gender neutral since their are only 2 private restrooms and when I was waiting to use the women's restroom, a man walked out of it. So it obviously doesn't matter....but for people who follows rules like me, it would make the restroom line more efficient. read more
