If you're in Wailuku you HAVE to eat here. The owner Dave treats you like family, as if you just arrived at his house and he's gonna cook just for you. He is loud and animated and so so fun to talk too. His food is made from scratch and is delicious. And portions are awesome for big groups. I came here with two soccer teams plus coaches and chaperones for some preseason games in Maui. I need someone to cater a pasta night for us and Giannotto's was recommended to me by two different people. Dave went above and beyond. We ordered a full pan of Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo and a full pan of Fettuccine with meat sauce/meatballs. The Alfredo was creamy and flavorful. The meatballs you could tell were homemade. The girls loved it all! They also gobbled up the garlic bread and had seconds of the Caesar salad. His restaurant has a food court behind it which was perfect for us to all sit down. He borrowed some tables from a friend and was able to accommodate our whole party of 60 people. All the other vendors surrounding the food court closed at 3pm, so we had the whole place to ourselves. I feel like the best pizza places are little hole in the wall spots. Stopped in here after surviving the Road to Hana with kids. IYKYK Not a lot of seating, but it worked fine for us. Traditional NY style pizza with a thinner crust and huge slices. Pizza was delicious. Their sauce is really good. My son got chicken fettuccine Alfredo which was also tasty. Nicole didn't seem too pleased to see me but she took my order and thanked me after I left a tip. I ordered a chicken parm sandwich, dining in. Prep time was a little long, but they seem to have take-out and delivery orders in the queue, so it was okay. The sandwich was brought out on a flimsy paper plate with plastic utensils. Meh... I've ordered a few times from this place and chose different items each time. Portions are SMALL and just not flavorful. The food is always luke warm at best and feels like a cash grab more than someone who is proud of the food they are cooking. The cheese steak is boring and has barley enough meat to cover the hoagie role and the chicken parm sandwich was mushy and also lacked any substantial chicken. The chicken alfredo pasta was ok, but again, cold on arrival and gave microwave dinner more than anything. I'll admit I have never ordered their pizza but Its still a pass. read more

Tucked away in the nondescript Promenade on Main Street in Wailuku is Giannotto's Pizzeria. They've got some pretty tasty pasta (though sometimes their noodles can be a little over cooked). My favorite is the eggplant Parmesan (eggplant isn't complete mush and has a nice breading and taste). There is an option that comes with linguine or a salad--all good and filling options at a good price. I see a lot of people ordering pizza, so it must be good too. I'm a pasta girl, so I've not tried their piazza, but next time perhaps! The restaurant is small but they've got tables inside and outside, with an open kitchen/cashier layout. It's a bit warm inside, so if the weather is nice, sit outside or inside the promenade seating. They take credit cards, make their own desserts too and have some bottled/canned drinks. We came here for a late lunch and there was hardly anyone there. The location is outside of a food court, but you can use the food court's tables (and bathrooms). They only have a few themselves inside of the actual restaurant. Ordering at the counter was easy and their menu had something for everyone in our group. The food came out and was delivered to our table pretty quickly. We got the meat pizza and enjoyed it very much. It came with pepperoni, sausage, ham, and meatballs. The sausage was good and the crust not too thick, but not thin either. We also got the linguine with alfredo sauce, which was just average. The sauce was fairly thick, but I felt could have hd more of a kick. If you are a visitor, returning from anywhere, to your accommodations on the south side or the west side, Kihei, Wailea, or Kaanapali, Kapalua, it's hardly a detour at all to come into Wailuku. you will definitely be glad you did. My friend and I were highly disappointed when we picked up our slices of pizza, it looked like left over pizza from a week ago. After having a not-so-great pasta dish a decade ago, I never went back. Recently, a friend posted a mouth-watering pic on IG which is what brought me back. The influence of social media! ATMOSPHERE: I don't remember the inside being so "rustic", lol. As you enter, all you see is the kitchen. I guess that could be a good thing as it allows you to see the area your food is prepared in and how clean it is. There were a few high tops inside and outdoor seating that is shared with other eateries. Parking is either on-street, in a small lot fronting the building's east side, or the municipal lot behind the building accessible via Market Street. MENU: Salads, cold & hot subs, pasta, pizza, calzone, desserts. FOOD: Philly Cheese Steak - $7.50 I added grilled onions, mushrooms and green peppers for an additional 75-cents each. This was the social media picture that got me back in to Giannotto's. After having a very good version at Pat's in Philadelphia, I was excited to try this recipe. Dare I say I liked it more than "The King of Steaks'" version?! While not as gargantuan as Pat's, Giannotto's sub was very tasty and juicy, with real cheese (not liquid) and the softest bread I've consumed yet. Absolutely, positively, highly recommended! Deluxe Pizza - $26.95 All pies are thin crust and 16" in diameter. The Deluxe included pepperoni, sausage, olives, tomato, onion, green peppers which we nixed (not my choice) and added mushrooms for $2.50. This was a good pizza with a savory sauce and fresh toppings but not outstanding due to the thin crust which has no "wow-factor", no matter who makes it. IMO, a thick, chewy crust just makes the pizza. SERVICE: I called in my order and it was ready and waiting for me when I arrived. Two friendly male workers assisted me. I even got a "Thank you for ordering" from one of them. It's nice to receive appreciation especially nowadays when many workers could give a hoot. We decided to try Giannotto's because of the great Yelp reviews. We ordered a half chicken pesto and half deluxe large pizza. I can't say no to NY cheesecake especially after reading a recommendation by a fellow Yelper. I believe the guy who took our order was the owner. He was no-nonsense with a slight Boston accent; he asked how we liked our crust. Pizza: Didn't think the 2 of us can finish a large pizza. Wrong! We wolfed it. The thin crust was perfectly crispy; the toppings fresh and delicious. NY cheesecake: It was dense but definitely needed more sugar. I felt like I was eating plain cream cheese. I would not recommend it. There was limited seating. We sat at a table outside but it was next to the main road. Next time we will order the pizza to go and take it to a beach instead.
