I don't work here and don't appreciate that I can't get through a checkout in a timely fashion. Not enough employees and I WILL NOT ring and bag my own groceries. Going to Whole Foods and Hienens from now on. Will gladly pay more for produce that isn't rotten. read more

My favorite grocery store, really great employees like Kim, Dawn, and Val. Nicest people. Do miss prior managers. I have had 1 return in 6 years--over-ripe blackberries (immediately replaced). Lots of variety of items. If sold out, employees go check in back of store. Really like bread and hoagies, doughnuts (1/2 price Fridays) and cookies and tray cupcakes. read more

Beware of price errors at checkout! This store has the best selection for miles... But I will not shop here again. They are chronically understaffed. Check out takes forever. There is no customer service - prices are high. Back to the price issue... this happened to me a while back when sweet potatoes were priced in produce at $.99 a pound and the computer at checkout said $2.49 per pound. Last time, the cashier and customer service representative couldn't understand why the price in the computer was wrong... It took several minutes and they keyed in the right price for me. Today, the sign in produce said $1.29 per pound. At the self check out, they rang up at $2.49!. I tried to call customer service to help... But minutes later no one came to my flashing light and there was no help in sight. The lineups at every checkout counter were insane so instead of waiting at the register, I decided to proceed through the checkout and take my issue to customer service. Well, there was only one employee at customer service, and she was helping another customer, which was taking a very long time. I was third in line and I did not have time to wait - so I decided to take the loss and leave the store - never to return! read more

I live about 5 minutes from 2 Giant eagles. Why is your produce so terrible anymore? I find myself driving a half hour to Heinen's just to grab fruit and vegetables that actually have a delicious and desirable taste to them. I suggest a taste testing from your management on just something as simple as prepared fruit medleys compared to yours. Honestly you have zero taste. Nothing. And at near the same cost. read more

I've been meaning to go here since it's near my house. My sister pointed it out when I moved here two weeks ago. So I decided to download the app, sign up for a reward card and finally pop in for a few things I needed. Which I might add, they actually had unlike Walmart where I ordered groceries online when I first got here. Anyway the store is huge. I was completely lost. I stood in the front entrance for a few minutes trying to figure out where I needed to go. I finally just wandered past the produce which looked fresh. The deli, to the meat department. Grabbed some stew meat that was on sale then headed to the freezer aisle for some other items I needed. I even found some stuff I didn't know I needed. Got to the registers, they had a bunch open with only one or two customers in each. I was greeted by a very friendly cashier. She asked me if I had a card. I remembered I had signed up and whipped out my phone, she scanned it, scanned my groceries. I was on my merry way within a few minutes. Nice place some stuff is a bit pricey but not bad for grabbing a few things. I will shop here again. read more

If I really want to put myself in a horrible mood for the rest of the day, Giant Eagle is where I'll go. Seriously, I don't know how a grocery store that has become as big as Giant Eagle has in Northeast Ohio can be this bad. I hate to use exaggeration when writing reviews, but I really feel like almost everything about this store is trash. Their produce quality is piss poor, half the times I get my items home, they've wilted or started to rot the next day, particularly the organic is really bad and I don't recommend purchasing it. Their staff always seem disgruntled, I once politely asked the meat counter if I could check the fish quality before he wrapped it up because frankly I've gotten some fish I realized had gone off when I had just gotten it home, but he gave me a hard time about it, which I think is really rude. However, the only food I see people buy here is the most processed and junky items available, so it makes sense that anything they sell that is supposed to be remotely fresh just... isn't. I will admit there are some items here we do enjoy. My husband loves their freshly made salsa, and there are some brands found here that are not easy to find elsewhere. In addition, I can't deny that their hours keeps people coming in the doors here. Simply given the convenience factor, it makes sense that this store is still always jam-packed, however they pretty much NEVER have enough cashiers open. Anytime I've come here anytime of day the lines are long, and their self-checkout is the absolutely most frustrating piece of technology I've every encountered. Finally, the absolute worst thing about Giant Eagle are the GD prices... my GOD. What in the world?! My husband and I joke that whenever we come here, even if we are just getting 5 items, it's always at least $50. It hurts me to shop here. Although I never mind shelling out money for good quality food, that's the thing, nothing here is quality! After all that, I think you understand my feelings about this horrid store. I am giving 2 stars simply because of their convenient hours, but there's nothing about this store I enjoy and I'd happy see it replaced. read more

I don't know why I am writing about this, but I can't seem to get past it. I used to be one of those people who believed that racism was a thing of the past; but two weeks ago, it smacked me dead in the face at the deli counter of the Giant Eagle in Brooklyn. When I got to the counter there was already one customer waiting to be served and two employees behind the counter. One of the employees helped the first customer, while the 2nd employee went to the back...Okay??? Another customer arrived and asked me if I had been helped; I told him "no", and he proceeded to stand next to me. By this time, the 2nd employee can back to the counter. She asked the new customer (a white man) for his order; but to his credit, he pointed at me (a black woman) and said that I was there first. To my surprise, she looked at me and told him that I had already been helped. I just sat there in shock. I felt invisible and I wanted to cry. After she finished with him, she exchanged words with the other employee; then she walked back and forth behind the counter doing what looked like busy work. She looked up at me a few times and then continued with her work. She finally came over to where I was and asked if there was something that she could help me with; as if she didn't know why I was still there. I told her that I wanted something from behind the counter and she took my order. This whole exchange only took ten minutes, but it left quite an impression on me. As if what I had just gone through wasn't bad enough, I went to pay for my items and noticed that I was being followed by a well-dressed young man. I then went to a spot by the window so that I could see my bus when it drove up and that well-dressed young man approached me and asked to see my receipt; I gave it to him. While he was looking it over, he asked me who I was waiting for. Once again I was in shock, as I did not understand why he needed to know who was coming to pick me up; but I told him that I was waiting for my bus. I tried my best to digest what had just happened to me. I was born in the 60s, so I know what racism feels like; I just never thought that I would experience it in 2019. This was by far the worst day that I have had in a long while. I was so hurt by what happened that I filed a complaint on their website; and to their credit, two people from the corporate office called to apologize. They both said that they would investigate the incident, but I know from experience that the racist behind the counter will just lie her way out of it, and they will believe her. I have no choice but to shop there, as all of my prescriptions are at their pharmacy; but I will never go back to that deli ever again... read more

It's my neighborhood Giant Eagle, very clean and the employees are very helpful! Neat thing is my core items cost is on par of the discount places and the bonus I get for using my Giant Eagle card for gas savings is sweet!!! But be forewarned!!!!! This store is awful. There is never more than 4 registers open at any given time. They have self check outs but half the time I'm behind some Debbie Dumb Ass who insists on poking at the screen like a monkey at a computer. And god forbid if you buy beer or cough syrup at the self check out, it takes some of those mouth breathers forever to get there to check your ID. Now in the deli/hot food section there's an employee who talks and sings to herself. That doesn't do much to encourage my confidence in the lunch meat department. Really if there wasn't a liquor store there, I'd stay the hell out of that cesspool. read more

This store is awful. Do whatever you can to avoid going here on Fridays between 3:00 and 8:00. First of all its their busiest time, but they never have enough people working the registers. There are 17 resister lanes and two people working them. The same goes for holidays and any major Cleveland sporting event. They are super high priced too. You are better of going to Marc's. read more

Needed to come and replenish my boyfriends refrigerator and what better close to home place like Giant Eagle since Columbus is full of them. I appreciate Giant Eagle stores because most usually they are clean, filled with helpful and courteous staff members. I used to work at Giant Eagle in high school so i know for a fact the company focuses on excellent service and products. I had a few questions about location of some items and was helped quickly. The cashier was extremely nice and started friendly conversation. I was a little disappointed to see fuel perks in cleveland are only $0.10 per every $50 spent whereas in Columbus its $0.20 spent. But hey, free gas perks is always better than nothing! read more

I dislike this store. Its small and cramped. The layout of the aisles and food are horrible compared to other GE's. I believe the last time I saw baby mixed in with trash bags in the aisle. Confusing! The parking lot is a pain also. Could be better. read more

This store is large. There is dry cleaning and day care service (for while you shop only) in the front and a pretty decent sized florist that accepts orders as well as sells from a stocked area. There is also a good sized bakery and deli and alcohol department mostly along the perimeter of the first part of the store. There is a small rack of gift cards when you walk in but a much larger selection in the front of the store by the registers. There are a lot of self-check out machines at this location which I always like using. The only thing that annoys me about this store is the tile floor - why they made the produce section ceramic tile when carts must noisily roll over it I do not know. read more

Purchased several items by VItalicious from Giant Eagle. Most of the products cost $4.99 each. The items that I purchased was 2 years out of date! A few of the other items over 1 year out of date. I took the items back to customer service along with my receipts to get a refund to which the cashier kept questioning as why the items were so far out of date. I advised that's my question to you. The manager was summoned and the only thing he said was "just throw them out. Its okay just throw them out." Neither one of them apologized for the inconvenience of selling the items so far out of date or for me having to bring them back to the store for a refund. Apparently I'm not the only one upon reading the reviews here have had this problem with bad store items. Makes me wonder how old their meat is or seafood items. Taking a big risk buying from this store. I just have to say that a little common courtesy goes a long way. Nothing hard about saying "I'm sorry about that we will refund your money no problem." SOMETHING ANYTHING but I got jack SQUAT! Maybe when they have a law suit from selling bad items they will then learn to rotate their stock and not put items on sale to rid their overstock of out of date items. Though this GEagle is right around the corner from my house, it is worth it to travel to another city to be able to select fresh diary and have a faster check out experience. Today was the third time that diary products were either not available or close to being expired. Additionally today, the gallon of milk I selected appeared to have a leak (it puddled on cashiers conveyor belt). I requested a replacement & was given one, but now I have to drink the gallon in two days (unlike the sell by of 5/3 that I originally selected). Oh! And the employee that replaced the gallon put the first one back in the case & declared that it probably wasn't really leaking. All the milk gallons were sitting in puddles of milk! Real healthy, huh? I have contacted the store directly, previously, but it has not improved. I feel other consumers must be warned that this Brooklyn GEagle is an example of "Buyer Beware!" read more
