Every time we visit WDW I want to try the raved-about cookies at Gideon's Bakehouse. Unfortunately, the line at the Disney Springs location is always very long and intimidating so we skip it. This year we decided to drive to the East End Market location, which was a great plan because there was NO LINE. We purchased the Original Chocolate Chip, Triple Chocolate Chip, Banana Bread Chocolate Chip, and Cookies & Cream cookies. These cookies are big and thick - as Gideon says, around a half-pound each. They had a great texture, were soft, and bursting with flavor, as cookies should be. We didn't find any of the flavors to be overpowering, everything complimented each other. All the cookies we tried were VERY DELICIOUS and completely worth the purchase. We loved them all, but our absolute favorite was the Banana Bread Chocolate Chip. It was AMAZING! These cookies are worth the hype and the next time we are back in WDW we will be hitting up Gideon's Bakehouse again! They do not disappoint!! read more

I went to the East End Market location and got the Original Chocolate Chip Cookie and the Pistachio Toffee Chocolate Chip. The cookies had a rich and cakey texture. Starting with the original chocolate chip cookie, it was incredibly indulgent. However, it was a tad too sweet for my personal taste. The texture was on point, with a soft and chewy center. The generous amount of chocolate chips added sweetness to every bite. The pistachio toffee chocolate chip cookie combination was unique and captured my attention. I liked this one better out of the two. The flavors were balanced and they added a sprinkle of salt. The nuttiness of the pistachio blended well with the other components as well as contributing to the texture by adding a little crunch. In terms of size, these cookies were quite generous. For a price of 6 dollars, I felt it was a reasonable deal considering the quality and the quantity. The staff was kind and the wait time was minimal. Went there around 5 PM on a weekday. I only had issues with parking and had to make a couple of rounds to find a spot. The ambiance exuded dark academia and the space was decorated with intricate details. Although the interior space was relatively compact and there was no indoor seating. Overall, if you are looking for a sweet treat in the Orlando area, this might be the place for you. read more

Ridiculously good. My absolute favorite cookies, the best bakehouse ever. If you ever find yourself in the Orlando area, it is a must to try these cookies. Gideon's has multiple locations, one being in Winter Park (the original) and one being located at Disney Springs. We tried to the Disney Springs location but had a serious long wait even at opening. So on our way home we decided to try Gideon's by the Milk District in Orlando. This location is in a small multi business indoor marketplace. It is adorable and super busy!!!! All the restaurants and businesses were busy and super popular. As for Gideons this location has a preorder pick up and a stand by line and with basically no wait at all compared to the Disney Location. The staff was super friendly and helpful to what cookie was what and the special that day. As for the cookie themselves they are a 1/2 pound cookie covered in semi sweet chips and delicious. If your not a fan of a ton of chocolate chips then these cookies might not be for you but you should still give them a shot because they are pretty tasty! The cookies from this place are absolutely amazing! I visited this location twice on a recent visit to Orlando. I tried a variety of cookies and even though I have my favorite, they were all amazing. Since the cookies were so good I thought I would try a piece of cake. I was sadly disappointed. I had the key lime cake. It was very, very dry like it had been cut a week ago and stored in the refrigerator uncovered. I will come back for the cookies but will most definitely avoid the cake. read more

On the Wednesday of my vacation week, I was at Disney Springs when the shops opened and the line for Gideon's was already 3 years long. No way. It was then that I decided I would hit Gideon's at East End Market before I skipped town. If I had more time I would've perused the quirky little shops at the indoor marketplace, but that day I was singularly focused. I hopped in a line of about 10 people that snaked around to a side door. In mere minutes I was at the small counter. There was a limit of 7 cookies per person so I bought the max. My daughter also bought 7 so we could try most of what was available and still give some away back home. We bought chocolate chip, chocolate chip banana bread, triple chocolate, peanut butter, pistachio toffee, butterscotch, and cookies and cream. Make no mistake, the chocolate chip is the best of the bunch, hands down. The rest were good, except for the butterscotch. I love butterscotch but that cookie just wasn't giving it. It was weird, but I'm still glad we tried it. You won't regret going out of your way for a Gideon's chocolate chip cookie. Look at it this way, you can drive 30-40 minutes in AC and then wait in a short line indoors and be back at your hotel before your name would've been called at the Disney Springs location. Approximately a few months ago I went to Disney Springs and the wait was approximately 1 to 2 hours. I decided to go into their store in the east end market today. Walked in at 10:00am and was out the door in a couple minutes. No wait. Ordered a slice of cake. Very good. Very dense and reminds you of a pound cake texture. Little too much filling for me. Ordered 2 chocolate chip Cookies, triple chocolate and the seasonal chocolate cherry spicy cookie. We all liked the triple chocolate which was very dense reminds you of eating a brownie. The chocolate chip was good. The spicy chocolate cherry one was way too spicy even for the people who love spicy food. I took one bite of it and I was done. We all agreed the spicy cherry chocolate was the one we didn't like. My mouth was on fire. Love the packaging. Customer service was great. Cookies are pricey for $6.00 each and a slice of cake was $8.00. They do not provide military discounts. You can preorder your cookies for the next day Just look on their website for their live link for next day preorders. You can only do it at their east end market location. You can not do it at their Disney location. Glad I went but I would not wait for cookies for a couple hours at their Disney location. These cookies were so intimidating to eat. I love a great chocolate chip cookie but do you see the amount of chocolate chips on there?! Alas, it can't be helped... I had to try it! With so many great reviews and a long long long line it HAS to be good right? And it is. So freaking mouth watering to look at , the salivary glands IMMEDIATELY OPEN like floodgates upon first bite. The sea salt that is placed on that chocolate chip pistachio, the sweetness of the chocolate, the crunch of the pistachio was quite the experience for just ONE bite. Chocolate chip cookie tasted like I was eating raw cookie dough with a ton of chocolate chips. I happen to like cookie dough but it's not for everyone! I for sure had to take breaks in between, it's very very sweet. I also had their variety bag, everything was oh so delicious in there too. The Chocolate Cake with the spicy icing was very rich. OK so we have tried and tried many times to come to Gideon's while in Disney Springs. NEVER did I ever think to search to see if they had another location until this past visit when the wait and DS was over 3.5 hours!! After searching I found this location off of Corrine Dr. in Orlando which was about a 34 minute drive from where we were staying. Guess what -- happy wife, happy life -- so the hubs took me! Good man :). Plaza has plenty of parking available. I was expecting to see a large sign on the outside of the plaza -- yes, it's located in a plaza called East End Market. We actually passed the plaza and had to turn around. You won't find a large sign (at least we didn't see one), instead there is a smaller sign listing the businesses inside the market. And it's just that -- it's sort of like Amateur Works in Tampa where you go inside and there are various dining and food shops. We found it and it's so cute!! It reminds me of Harry Potter! And guess what!? No line at all. You can even order ahead for pickup on their website. They have a variety of cookies that are baked fresh daily as well as some cake options. Your an even buy the cake by slice. We didn't try the cake as we were only there for the cookies :) We ordered 6, yes the max that they allow to be purchased per person. We ordered 2 of the triple chocolate and the rest chocolate chip. O-M-Gosh were these everything I thought they'd be and so much more!! OK, so you have to try this trick -- take your chocolate chip cookie and eat it with the morales to the roof of your mouth (taste of chocolatey goodness) then turn the cookie over and take a bite with the morales to your tongue (you get that salty + sweet). Crazy that 1 cookie can offer 2 different taste options. I prefer eating it upside down so that I can get the salty and the sweet all in one bite. The cookies are so large too! Bigger than my hands, so I cut them in 4's and would eat a piece each night. Also placed my piece in the microwave for 20 seconds to get the chocolate all melty which is also FANTABULOUS!! You HAVE to try these cookies -- they are nothing to mess with! Definitely a place we're going to make a pit stop at each time we're in Orlando. I think the last time I tried one of their cookies was back in 2017 when I last wrote a review about them. I'm going to start off by saying that I'm a baker, and I like to think I'm pretty good at it which is why I don't really go to bakeries because I just do it myself. I guess I had forgotten just how good these cookies are though because when I bought my triple chocolate cookie, my mind was blown away again just like the first time. In truth, this isn't really a cookie; this is like eating a block of fudge, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Sorry Girl Scouts! I've been reading reviews of this place for a while and the horror stories of long lines and waiting hours for your cookies and bats swarming around you (maybe I made that part up), yet the masses kept coming. It's been on my radar and while perusing my private photo album of recent cookie pictures, I found out you can pre-order cookies for the next day pickup. As soon as I found this out, I started planning and picked out the cookies that I'd order. Ordering was easy, you just pick the quantity of each cookie you'd like, then pay for it. Pretty simple! The cookies are $5 each and are around 1/2 lb each. That's on par with what the Girl Scouts charge per ounce. And Subway cookies are 1.6 oz and 79 cents each so these aren't much more expensive per ounce, but WAY better (no disrespect to Subway). I'm the Pythagoras of food math and finding the best value (although these cookies are round, not R squared). Pickup was easy as I showed up to the East End Market (the only place for these 1 day pre-orders) and much to my surprise, found a parking spot AND there was no line at the cookie place. I picked up my order by telling the woman my name and showing her my email confirmation and I was on my way. After perusing the market for a while, a line DID start to form for these delicious treats. This was on a Sunday Morning which COULD explain why it was so easy. I ordered 8 cookies in total (4 lbs) with some duplicates and we shared them over the next few days. I'll try to rank them in the order in which I liked them (worst to first), but honestly, it's hard to decide. It's a photo finish for sure. Triple Chocolate Chip - I know, right? It's a good cookie but it was more like eating a brownie than a cookie, and I don't mean that in a bad way at all. Very chocolatey and delicious. Peanut Butter Crunch - Very good and if you love peanut butter, you'll love this cookie. The candied peanuts give it that extra ooompf that other peanut butter cookies miss the mark on. Original Chocolate Chip - This excellent cookie is everything you want in a half lb. cookie. This may have been the first chocolate chip cookie I've ever eaten where I didn't have to have a strategy for maximizing the most chocolate in my final bite. Cookies N Cream - I don't know if that's the official name, but the ugliest cookie in the bunch (is there an ugly cookie contest?) was so close to being my favorite. It was like eating oreo cookie dough in cookie form, so soft and moist and delicious! This was the wife's favorite, BTW. Orange Pecan Chocolate Chip - Remember those Orange cookies that are so soft and airy and have that super orangey frosting? Well Gideon somehow invoked the spirit of those cookies into a delicious orange chocolate mix that took everything good about a chocolate chip cookie and those iced orange cookies and made this cookie its baby. So good! I think each of these cookies had salt on top as well and getting that salty sweet sensation that's all the rave these days was an absolute treat. I felt like I would've automatically developed on-set Diabetes just from a couple of bites. Or better yet, fall into some type of never ending Sugar Coma. Well, not here. This was an experience. Fun atmosphere and trendily service. The experience and the packaging are spot on and help to build a fun mythology. The cookies were not my cup of tea. I can see why others have raved about them but for me they are not what I look for. The delicate balance of ingredients and textures is overshadowed but the size and richness of the desert. Again what we had was good but not something I would make a special trip out to. I will say however without a doubt they are far superior to crumble. Is it worth a FOUR HOUR wait? Yes. I arrived at Gideon's Bakehouse in Disney Springs close to opening around 10:15am. It wasn't early enough. By the time I arrived, I had to wait in line TO GET IN LINE. The nice woman at the front taking down phone numbers said it would be about two hours, ten minutes. Well, cookies are my jam, and I had been wanting to try this place since the first time I saw it last November when they still were building it. Since then, their reputation has only grown tremendously, and had to try it for myself to see if the cookies lived up to the hype. So I waited. By the time my turn in line came up, the wait was up to FOUR HOURS! Who would wait in line for four hours for a cookie? I guess I would. Typically the line isn't that long, but do be prepared to wait around 45 minutes to 2 hours unless you go during the week, early, on an off day. FOOD: What makes it so special on top of how absolutely delicious it is are the specials! Special cookies in the morning (Coffee Cake), special cookies at night (Dark Coffee Cake), special coffee brews, limited edition cookies, limited edition daily cake slices...you get the picture. No matter when you go you feel special and privileged to take part. And again...it is SO GOOD!!! When they say the cookies are about a half pound each, they are not kidding. Yet they are soft and firm and yummy and filled to the brim with flavor without being too sweet. Yikes. I've tried Coffee Cake and Triple Chocolate and right now bringing home Chocolate Chip and Cookies and Cream. Had to get the flavor of the month - Lemon Poppyseed for my daughter. Two cookies lasted me FOUR DAYS. I could only eat about half a day. SERVICE: Terrific! Yes, you have to wait in line, but why do you think so many are willing to do just that? On top of great cookies, the staff is great and they package up your treasures so nicely. COST: At $6 a cookie you might think it's too high. But if it lasts you two days per cookie? What can I say about Gideon's bakehouse other than how absolutely amazing it is! I am not one of those people that go out of my way for cookies but this place, I needed to drive a good thirty minutes away...on I-4 (which is saying something) for these. Everything about them is insane. The place is rather small and located in the East End marketplace and if you blink, you will miss it. I walked right by it accidentally. I did an online order, that you can do one day in advance for small orders, and it was ready when I got there, wrapped up in a box and waiting for me. I gave my name and was out in a quick five minutes. For my order, I decided to go with a regular chocolate chip cookie and a coffee toffee because, I am a die hard for anything when it comes to coffee flavor. At five dollars a cookie, it may seem like a lot, but the amount of flavor and love you feel while eating one of these is insane. The flavor was perfect in both cookies and I even had to eat them over a couple days because of how massive they are, weighing in at about HALF A POUND EACH! They had many different flavors and they even have seasonal flavors that I am hoping to try if I am in the Orlando area when are in season. Hands down a cookie place that I will be trying to visit on every trip I make up to Orlando. A small business that I hope stays relevant for many years to come! I have tried to go to the Gideon's in Disney Springs, but as much as I love cookies, the excessively long line has always deterred me. I'm so glad that there is a saner location! Also, going to this location allowed me to test out other local Orlando food purveyors, far from the theme parks. Mind you, there's still a line at the location in the East End Market, but that line was 10 minutes, not 3 hours. I ordered three cookies: the standard chocolate chip, the pistachio/toffee/chocolate chip, and the eternal flame (Valentine's month) cookie. Each cookie was awesome, although my favorite was the pistachio/toffee/chocolate chip cookie because I liked the different textures and the nuts. I liked the spicy chocolate of the eternal flame cookie but could have lived without the cherry. The standard chocolate chip was very good, although I've had other chocolate chip cookies just as good. The cookies are expensive, but they are huge/heavy/dense/made with excellent quality ingredients. So no complaints there. read more

These cookies are sinfully delightful. A combo of thick bit of chocolate chips and a plethora of toppings/filling all ending in a rich and decadent bite or two, or three. These cookies are extreme and usually take me a couple days to finish. OR- if I'm feeling nice, I'll share them. Their flavors are endless and so delicious. I love cookies and have been reading and reading about the Gideon's shop in Disney Springs, but I didn't want to wait in the rumored 6 to 8 hour lines (!) just to get inside. So I decided to drive out to the original cookie location at the East End Market. It was even more appealing that I could preorder cookies online the night before pickup. A word about pickup: this place is absolute insanity. It was so bad on a Sunday afternoon around 2 pm that I almost bailed on picking up my preorder. The website clearly says you do not have to wait in line if you're picking up an order placed online, but several people and employees at the Market said I *did* have to wait. The line stretched around the building outside. I went inside to see if anybody could help me with my cookies, and I was met with a lot of nasty looks and screaming from other customers who accused me of cutting in line. FINALLY I got the attention of an employee who saw my pick-up e-mail and he gave me my cookies. It was a HORRIBLE system, and my first time getting cookies here shouldn't have resulted in me leaving frustrated, annoyed, upset, and nearly in tears. It took almost an hour for me to calm down, and I finally decided to sample the cookies. I purchased 4 cookies: original chocolate chip, cookies & cream, pistachio walnut chip, and peanut butter chocolate swirl. The cookies are big and heavy, but I sort of doubt their claim that each one weighs about a half pound. I could easily polish off one cookie myself in one sitting, although it may result in a severe tummyache. The flavors in order of best to worst were: cookies & cream (so good, so much vanilla and crunchy chocolate goodness); pistachio walnut chip (the sweet and salty combo was heavenly); peanut butter chocolate swirl (a nice combo with a good peanut-y flavor); the chocolate chip (meh). I did not find the cookies to be too sweet, but the problem is that they are OVERLOADED with chips, so much so that you can't really taste the dough. That's why the cookies & cream was so good -- there aren't any extra chips inside. I had to pick off as many exterior chips as possible, but there are even MORE stuffed inside the cookies. This resulted in cookies that are more candy bar than baked goods. What a bummer. The exterior is crispy, but the inside dough has the consistency of raw cookie dough. Almost like brown sugar uncooked, if that makes sense. The vanilla flavor of the dough is absolutely OUTSTANDING. I wish I could specify cookies with 75% fewer chips and toppings, that would be perfection. Gideon's Bakehouse cookies are delicious, I love them and would love to have them again now that I know what to order, but I really hope this location will do something to make online pickup a LOT easier. It was madness in there. For that reason, I cannot give this business more than 3 stars at this time. Maybe I will go back again at a slower time, but I would not wait more than 30 minutes for these cookies no matter what. read more

The cookies at Gideon's Bakehouse are nothing short of drool worthy! For starters, these bad boys weigh almost as much as a brick! You could probably share one due to the heft on the thing... or you could be like me and just eat the entire thing yourself. I have zero regrets. They offer a variety of flavors each day and I've tried two flavors so far and haven't been let down either time. My first Gideon's adventure included the cookies and cream cookie. Imagine an explosion of Oreos and extra creamy goodness and that basically sums it up. My second experience was the salty chocolate pistachio cookie and wowza! It was a burst of excitement. A nice salty crunch of pistachio combined with smooth sweet milky chocolate. Yum! Gideon's is located within the East End market place. Parking is typically easy during off hours maybe a bit busy on the weekend. Manageable though. One thing is for sure though and that is you should make a trip for some cookies. If you don't want to wait on line, feel free to order ahead. They will have it ready for you! Enjoy. read more

It's Always a Great Idea to have cake & cookies when they're from Gideons! Super lucky on Black Friday to get the new sweets & candles AND a slice of my most favorite cake EVER (Rainbow Crunch). We also tried out the limited edition seasonal cookies and cake slices (the Vom Krampus & the Kris Kringle). The cookies were delicious. The Kris Kringle was our favorite, it tasted like a caramel vanilla cookie of awesomeness and was topped with white chocolate chips and sea salt sprinkles. The Vom Krampus cookie is delicious too. It was a chocolate-y mint cookie that tastes like the holidays. These cookies are like Christmas in every bite! The Kris Kringle cake slice took it up a notch and is easily in my top 5 of favorite cakes. The flavors are balanced perfectly. The Vom Krampus cake wasn't a favorite. I felt like the mint is very overwhelming/overpowering and could be toned down a bit. I'm not a mint lover so could just be my taste buds. The staff is always friendly and helpful and I love going to the East End Market location because it's usually not busy so it's easy to stop by without worrying about the Disney springs parking/people situation. read more
