It's a very small space, but they have made the most of it with great takeout deals (restaurant week this week) and spaced out tables (indoor and outdoor- weather permitting). Highly recommend the brussels sprouts & fried cauliflower apps- both delicious!! The sopressata pizza & the mushroom pizza are personal favorites! The honey on the sopressata is incredible, and the mushroom has so much flavor. The only thing stopping me from giving a full 5 stars is that some of the appetizer portions are very small, making it difficult to share with a larger family. My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE SPOT IN SKAN! My boyfriend and I discovered Gildas freshman year of college and it has become "our spot" and we have been coming ever since! Known for their pizzas, they are SO GOOD and reheat SO well in an air fryer. My boyfriend and I absolutely love so many of the small plates, and we always get the twice cooked fries, the Caesar with fried chickpeas (fried chickpeas are unbelievably delicious) and usually a pizza! It is a small menu, so if you go with a picky eater, have them check before so they make sure they can find something they like. We also love trying the different wines and beers they offer. This little pizza and small plates restaurant deserves more than 5 stars, but that's all you can give. This is the cutest little space with under 40 seats, but brings BIG flavor. Not to mention the scenery. Skaneateles lake is right out the front windows and always a beautiful backdrop. My husband and I lived in Syracuse for 3 years, and somehow missed this amazing little restaurant the entire time we lived here. Back in town for a weekend visit this weekend and met some friends for dinner last night. What did we order, you ask? - Fried cauliflower - Arancini (fried risotto balls) - Roasted Brussels sprouts - Stracciatella pizza The fried risotto balls are amazing! Hot and creamy cheese with a crispy crunchy outside. The roasted Brussels sprouts come with a delicious mustard vinaigrette and are roasty and charred. Now... the pizza. Y'all, this pizza crust is SO good. It has great chew, amazing texture, and just the right amount of char around the edges. We loved it all so much, we came back again tonight to order more of the menu. First of all, the waitress, Elissa, was so sweet to remember us from the night before (I love it when people are able to recognize return customers) and is just the right amount of attentive and just so nice. Tonight we ordered the Chicken Wing Xiam and the Hot Sopressata pizza. The chicken wings are Asian inspired deliciousness and have great crunch. But the star of tonight's dinner was the pizza. You already know I'm a fan of the crust, but the sauce and the spicy sopressata with a hint of honey for sweetness.... seriously one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Color me impressed and totally satisfied with tonight's meal. My Wife, Son and I ate at Gilda's tonight for the first time. Bottom line up front - this restaurant is a total Friends and Family recommendation and YELP bookmark worthy. A little on the small side (get there early or you are standing waiting on a table) and somewhat noisy due to the confines of the dining area. But, I can totally over look the noise because the food was spot on. They did not miss on anything, everything was delicious. Apps: Crostini Trio and Veal Meatballs Son: Margarita pizza Wife: Wings Me: Beef short rib, sirloin and chuck burger I sampled everything and I throughly enjoyed them all. NOTHING was lacking and everything was prepared perfectly. The veal meatballs were delicate, tender and so flavorful. 3 per serving with 2 slices of fresh bread - my only complaint is that I was too full to order a 2nd round. The crostini were nice, each completely different in flavor profile, texture and appeal. I could have ordered a few extra plates of these and made a meal of them and I'd of been perfectly happy. The burger was no ordinary burger. It had a depth of flavors with no single flavor dominated the other. A complex and very satisfying burger experience. I love the basic burger, but this one was a treat and I'm glad I tried it. My son's pizza was perhaps one of the best pizzas I've had in the greater Skaneateles - Marcellus - Camillus - Syracuse area. Everything about it screamed TASTY, & the best part is the double thumbs up it got from my Son. My Wife's wings were something else. Hot, crisp, juicy and totally legit. These are no wimpy afterthought wings on a menu as an appeasement option. There was a lot of thought and love put into these wings - and it paid off in triplicate. I want more. Okay, so I'm rambling... The food was outstanding, the waitress was friendly and the kitchen was prompt. I am so going back. Very Disappointed! Arrived about 3 minutes before opening and was quickly informed "We don't open for another five minutes." That was a sign that we should have gone somewhere else. Instead we came back about 10 minutes later. We ordered a pizza and shrimp wraps. Shrimp wraps had little flavor, very messy, and about 4 little pieces of shrimp. The staff of 4 or 5 were so loud hanging out at the bar that we couldn't have a conversation. Decide to take our pizza to go only to find out it was completely charred black on the bottom. Should have gone back to get a refund but instead tried to salvage some it. In the end threw most of the pizza in the garbage. Waste of time and money and the service was only so so. Went here for my 40th birthday, and was not disappointed at all. We shared a bunch of food, and brought half home of course. We absolutely loved the hot sopresatta pizza - it was sweet with a good heat. The margherita pie was good as well, as were the arancini and veal meatballs. According to the staff and regular customers, the burger and chicken sandwich are the best meals they offer (they look fantastic). Next time we're in town, I'd love to try 'em. read more

Gilda is our new favorite pizza spot! We were visiting town this weekend and we ended up going there for pizza for the first night. I had heard really good things about this place but had no idea how wonderful it is. We ordered a Margarita and a Nonna pizza 10/10 for both! Their service is quick and one pizza is kinda enough for one person. We also ordered the arancini 9/10. I'd stick to the pizza. We were literally back the next afternoon for another pizza lunch - yeah, that's how much we liked it! 100% recommend this place. Usually, there is a wait, but its worth the while. read more

Quaint Italian place with incredible food. There is a bar and some tables but overall the restaurant is pretty small. We were able to grab a table and my friend and I each got the white sangria which was refreshing and not too sweet. We split the spanakopita pizza and arancini. The pizza reminded me so much of spanakopita with the flavors and the pizza was large enough with 6 good size slices. We split the arancini which had 3, with the risotto gooey inside with a crisp outer layer and the red sauce was spectacular. If we are in the area again, I'd love to come back! read more

Gilda's is hands down the best pizza in the area -- and it isn't particularly close. I went with a friend on a Friday night without a reservation. The place was busy, packed really, and we were lucky to grab two seats at the far end of the bar. I have been to Gilda's many times but this was my friend's first time visiting. I think they were blown away by how good it was and eating at the bar was really fun. Great energy and atmosphere in this place, romantic yet casual. I think we just got lucky to get seats though, so plan on a wait if you go -- especially during peak summer or foliage seasons in the area. The beer selection was impressive. We ordered the cauliflower to start (highly recommend), the Hot Sopressata (a must get), and the Mushroom (very solid). The wife and I stopped in on a Friday night for dinner, small quaint restaurant with very limited seating. It was too cold to sit at on of the 3 tables outside, so we took advantage at the few open seats at the bar. The bartender was pleasant and quickly got our drinks and got us menus. we ordered the arancini and the wild mushroom soup for appetizers and we both got the burger for dinner. The arancini was good, but had a very strong herb flavor too it, I want to say it was like a heavy mint flavor. The soup came out luke warm and we had to send it back, was very tasty when hot. Our burgers were good. Other than the bartender, there was a hostess wandering around with a sour look on her face the whole time, there was not many smiles among the staff at all, it did kind of bring the experience down a bit. read more

I highly recommend their pizza! We had the Nonna's pie and the Four Cheese pie and they were both excellent choices. We started with the Veal Meatballs which were excellent as well, very moist and the gravy was outstanding! The only complaint was the noise level, they really need to invest in acoustic tiles on the ceiling which is very low so the sound just bounces off the wall and ceiling. We happened in on a weeknight in the winter. The joint is small and with winter in Syracuse they had a curtain between the front door and the small dining room to catch the draft. There were no tables available so we snagged two seats at the small bar which was perfect. We ended up chatting with the manager and learned about the place, their drink list and had a nice time. We ordered their salad of the day- shaved carrots with fried capers, the arancini balls as an appetizer and split the hot sopressatta wood fired pizza with honey and chili which was so delicious! We also had some of their wines and craft draft beers. Our table was ready for us as soon as we walked through the door (reservation recommended!). Two adults, two teenagers, and an 8 yr old... and all were very happy with the evening. The salad was small. There, I got the negatives out of the way. Bleu cheese, dried blueberries, almonds, catalina dressing... it was delicious. Calamari came with a slightly spicy dipping sauce but the fried peppers were the best pairing. Crispy and lightly breaded, everyone enjoyed it. The hamburger was juicy and the bun was perfect for it. You don't have to fight with it at all, soft and toasted and buttery. The tomato jam could've been the best part of it. I wanted there to be more on the burger but I realize that's the point, leave them wanting more! Hot soppersatta pizza was sweet and a little spicy and the thin crust was perfectly charred. In the picture you can clearly see how balanced everything is, and it definitely tasted as good as it looks! For dessert we ordered everything. They have three of them (all pictured). The Panna cotta was as good as Panna cotta usually is and the pot de creme was as good as pot de creme usually is. The cheesecake, on the other hand, was better than expected.
