My bf and I came here the other night. It was great they were able to fit us in without a reservation. Really cute ambiance! We sat down and it seemed like their kitchen was a little backed up because the service was really slow, they were also out of prime rib that my bf really wanted, so those were the only two things that weren't great. Other than that my scallops were amazing, and I really enjoyed my dinner. My bf also enjoyed his steak. I'm sure we will be back sometime soon. Always a delicious entree and cocktail. Deserts are a real treat. It's conveniently open on Sundays when I like to dine out with my sister.

Excellent Italian and seafood choices. I had the fettuccini Alfredo with scallops and it was to die for. I had a large portion of it left over to take home and it fed me twice more. The service was slow but friendly and knowledgeable. It was a nice place to go to have time to catch up with friends and not feel rushed. I have eaten at Michael's several times. I've brought family there from out of town, referred friends there. I had. Busy,crappy week... I got home late from work and hadn't had time to eat all day. I wanted something special that I knew would be great so I treated my self to Michael's Italian restaurant on Clark st. In Auburn, NY. I called, placed my order. They didn't have the soup I wanted so I got an antipasto for one and a meatball Parmigiano. After placing my order I called right back to request that they not put my cold antipasto in the same bag with hot food. Makes sense right? Guess what? I get there and there it say on a bar stool, cold on top of hot. I said something to the waitress and instead of getting me a new salad, she got me another bag. She insisted that it was just brought out. I took her word but when I got home i live less than 5 minutes away, the lettuce was warm, mushy and wilted. The cheese was melted. They put cheddar cheese instead of romano. Its horrible!! Then the meatball parm was a slice of bread with tiny, whole meatballs that taste like they bought them at Costco. I called and complained and got an argument at first. Then I talked to Fran, the owners wife?? Wheres Michael? Clearly things have changed at this one great restaurant. I was told to mention this the next time I came in but there is no next time. Tonight I scratched Michael's of of my go to list. You guys should be better than this. read more

So the food here is great service is good and the people are nice. Typically I start off with bread and a salad. And shortly after your meal should be there. It's hard to take a picture of your food without wanting to eat it. This place has food for adults,kids. And it's perfect. I highly recommend coming here if you need a place to go. read more

If Donnie Brasco and The Godfather movies are your thing, then Michael's will be up your alley. Dim lighted atmosphere and 70ish Attire with piano music in the background would have me sitting with my back facing the wall every time. Michael's has wide selection of Italian food and awesome specials. Defiantly generous portion with every entree and the owner will drop by to make sure you are satisfied. I had a great experience here, hope you do too. My tip is to make RSVP it fills up quick. read more

We had an awesome dinner there last night. It is not a place to go if you want fast food! It's nice and slow. I ordered the lobster tails, my husband opted for the eggplant parm. Not a good night at this restaurant which in the past has satisfied us. Really slow and uncoordinated service. Every one seemed on edge as the owner seemed very edgy and disagreeable. Orders got served to a wrong table. After a few minutes of figuring out who they belonged to the plates were moved to the bar area room to the correct table (after the waitress asked "did you eat any of it"). My order was completely wrong when served and there was lots of finger pointing between owner, cook and waitress. Too bad because this has been a go to place for us for years but this experience was so off that we will likely not go back again. read more

Three of us stopped tonite for dinner. We had an excellent dinner and being new to this restaurant, we were pleasantly welcomed and felt valued. We ordered the sliced tenderloin with mushrooms and the baked haddock dinner . Not only were the dishes delicious, but the staff and owner himself went above and beyond our expectations. I must say, Michael's was a very pleasant surprise! I went on a first date there last night, and the atmosphere was warm, friendly, and relaxing. It's a small space, and the food was fantastic. I read some reviews earlier in the day, which were decidedly mixed, but my experience was anything but. I had read that the chef/owner likes to visit with the patrons to make sure they have a good experience there. Sure enough, the owner came out and we had a nice chat, which really rounded out the dinner experience. I will definitely go back! And if you want to try Michael's for a first meeting/date, I highly recommend it;) read more

I am not from Auburn so I hope what I am about to say has merit. I can only assume that the two posts I read before I went to this restaurant were from family, or friends, of the owner. The meal started with an offered complimentary bread basket and packs of butter (no oil for dipping and the bread was "meh"). We ordered calamari for an appetizer and were very disappointed. It was obviously packaged/frozen (not homemade) and what was described as "dipping sauce" was Frank's hot sauce drizzled on top. No dipping. No sauce. The "homemade soup" was not homemade. Certainly the the garnish on top was added by the "chef" but that was about it. My main course was good. Seafood/vegetable scampi. Again some frozen vegetables but at least the broccoli was fresh and the seafood was perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was horrible. I heard the f-bomb several times coming from the kitchen (by the way I wouldn't vote for "f-ing Trump" either and I don't think that Playboy does nude photos these days so maybe your co-worker shouldn't "submit her photos"). Suffice to say I was subjected to their ribald conversation throughput my very expensive meal. Yes expensive!!! $10.50 for the calamari and $30.00 for the vegetable/seafood scampi. Yikes!! If you are traveling through (like us) do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for a meal in Auburn. read more

We went to Michael's for the first time last night and will most certainly return. The food was amazing. We were part of a group of 6 and every person ordered something different, and no one was disappointed. The prime rib appetizer was amazing; I would absolutely recommend it. The service was very good and efficient and the entrees were top notch. We are looking forward to taking out of town friends to Michael's for dinner as this was the best Italian food my husband and I have ever eaten. It was truly a great experience. read more

We were sat 45 mins after our reservation. Never an apology for the delay. We were witness to many tables asking for more drinks, empty water glasses, cold bread, and the owners wife/server being impatient and brisk with the guests. Being my first time, I asked what she recommended. She told me she didn't know. No follow up and no suggestion! We finally ordered our salads and owner was standing at the host stand barking orders around without accomplishing anything. The people behind us even asked if the kitchen had forgotten about them. A member of our party admonished him for his inefficiency and lack of customer service. He came to our table and disrespectfully (and at full volume) said he didn't appreciate her disrespecting his staff in front of him. He didn't acknowledge his wrong doings. He blamed her for speaking up in the middle of "his" restaurant. Disgusting! We were told to leave. We won't return. read more

I come here every year and it never disappoints. Service with (Fran) is friendly and professional and the chef/owner, Duffy, is all in for his food and his establishment. There were 4 for dinner and we absolutely love the veal dishes. I thoroughly enjoyed the Saltimbocca Veal and my friend had the Veal Picatta. My wif had a delicious pasta bolognaise. The atmosphere is old school and Fran honored our request for the player piano which added a nostalgic atmospheric touch of Dino, Frank and the boys. Duffy came out and made sure we were all happy and filled us in on history---a lot of fun .....he obviously has a passion for his work. See you next year for sure. read more

This is my favorite Italian restaurant. I've lived in New York City and a lot of other places and I have to say every time I come back home I love to stop by here with my family. You can tell the owner and his wife really want you to have a pleasant experience and the food is great, especially the veal! We decided to try Michael's on a whim. We were not impressed. The prices were quite high, perhaps justified by the white tablecloth decor. They had some interesting soft drink choices, which were different. We were trying not to spend too much money, so we stuck with traditional Italian food for our entrees. The sauce that they use is a heavy, dark red sauce, which was not bad. The pasta, however, was overcooked in every entree. I would never recommend Michael's - very poor price to value ratio.
