Pros: Extremely quick installation by their contracted company (Tobias ironworks) and Gil's tried to figure out creative solutions to our mailbox placement as well as an issue we had with the remote signal until we reached a workable solution! Overall a good job with the install. Cons: With any issues that arose, it has been a challenge to get resolved. One of the issues that remains unaddressed is paint streaks (of the painted metal frame) dripping down onto the wood portions (during the rains). The wood gate/fence portions were not coated with a sealant- we were advised to apply a sealer on our own. UPDATE: this issue has been addressed - they've removed the paint streaks and re-applied a wood stain it seems. Given these, I would still recommend them - just go in knowing what to expect. read more

Avi came out on relatively short notice to fix the gaps I had on my door. He immediately noticed something I had failed to and that was the bracket holding down the spring was nearly popping off. It was being held down, barely, by one screw. Knowing how dangerous this was, he grabbed his tools and got to work. It's now fully secured. After that, he did what he could to even out my door but it turns out, the trim is what's uneven. So I'll have them back shortly to fix that up! read more

Our garage spring broke, we needed to replace our old clunky garage door anyway. We had two quotes, they were both comparable; so we had to go with the experience. Ara was very responsive from start to finish-communicated our quote, answered questions if needed, gave suggestions when appropriate, never pushed to upsell anything, and was all around professional. We never heard back from the 2nd quote, so we went with Gil's Garage. We weren't in a hurry to replace the door; so our expectation was really low when the project can start, once we approved the quote within a couple of weeks our door was ordered and installed. Installation was great and efficient; of course we had a dud sensor; the next day we couldn't close the door (this was on a weekend). We called Ara fully expecting him to say; just close it manually and I'll be there first thing in the morning, nope-he was able to come by Sunday evening to find out our sensor was a dud out of the box and was able to replace that evening. There are too many things that can go wrong and harm you if you don't know what you are doing. Sam was super helpful in explaining how the door works and what might have gone wrong with it. He showed me what possible scenarios could have triggered them and made the parts fail. He then was able to offer different solutions for me to pick from and what i could do within my budget. Sam was courteous, knowledgeable and was able to complete the job in under 2 hrs. I called Gil's after having another company come out and provide me an outrageously expensive quote by a service tech from another company who instilled zero confidence in his quote. Even though I called late on a Saturday afternoon, Gil's Garage Door was still able to fit me in. The next morning I submitted a service request through the contact form on Gil's website. I received a response within 15 minutes and was given a 2-hour time window for a technician to arrive that same afternoon. The tech, Ara, was ahead of schedule and arrived early (he called me ahead of time to confirm that was ok). My garage door wouldn't close! It would take me 3-10 tries. It was saying there was a sensor blockage but nothing was in the way. I was afraid it was some kind of water damage after all the storms. It is always a shock to me why companies in this and other home repair/service industries aren't just transparent, honest and respectful. I had three other quotes with vastly different pricing and solutions. First off, don't work with home warranty vendors. Over priced and shoddy work. They also try to just have you pay a premium. Second, those companies that are pushy and don't talk to you like a person? Your gut is right. Stay away. Third. Then there's Gil's and amazing techs like Ara! No BS and truly understand how treating customers (even prospective) with respect and honesty is what's gonna win the short term and long term business. Ara understands this and wasn't trying to upsell me on crap that I didn't need. I have a specific problem and he fixed it. Then he told me the next steps of failure points and at what point I would just need an entirely new setup. Gil's understands the customer and train their techs really well!
