After driving into my garage late in the evening, I closed the door and as it was closing, there was a loud bang. I looked at the door and notice that the torsion spring had snapped. Even with the release of emergency cord, the door was too heavy to lift manually. My car was stuck in the garage. After checking Yelp, I contacted Best and Local Garage Door via its website at 10pm. 15 minutes later, I received a reply that they can do the repair tomorrow with the price quote for replacement of two springs. I asked for a quote for a single spring replacement with the 10% Yelp discount on its Yelp page. I got a reply the next morning with a price quote. After confirming, an appointment was set from 1-2pm. At 12:35pm, Adi arrived. He inspected the broken spring and I stated that it was unsettling that I couldn't lift the door manually. He said without an operating spring, the door is too heavy to lift. He said he can install a dual spring system, which would enable the door to be opened with some manual assistance should one of the two springs broke. I opted for additional cost for the installation of the double spring system. In one hour, Adi replaced the broken spring with the double springs with a new support bracket. He showed me how to open the door should one of the springs broke. He then lubricated the springs, hinges, rollers and opener belt track and advised how often I should lubricate it. I appreciated the prompt reply to my message on their website and the follow-up the next morning. After confirmation of the reasonable price, Adi arrived in 3 hours. Adi's repair service was great. My torsion spring had snapped, asked friends for any garage repair recommendations. Didn't get any good ones. Went thru Yelp for help got a few estimates, and went with Best and Local. Had an appt the next day between 11-12. Ben was the repairmen assigned to my request. Ben texted me to inform me that he was on his way , right at the designated time frame which I liked. My setup is pretty old I'd say back in 70's , but Ben had no issue replacing the torsion spring , even when issues had arise , He was able to get around it and get my garage door up! I called them back in October because I was locked out of my house from a black out. I leave and enter my home via the garage. They came within one hour and opened up my garage in less than 45 minutes. The garage tech let me know that I should look into getting a garage opener with a back up battery in case this happens again. I didn't want to pull the trigger because I wanted to research openers before I decided on getting one. After the second black out, I finally decided to get the opener with a back up battery. Luckily I was home during the second black out. Before calling them to schedule an appointment I called a few other places for quotes. It turned out Best & Local had the best and most competitive pricing for labor, the opener and parts. I am extremely happy with the opener and the service. The opener is quiet and can also be controlled via an app. The garage technician was thorough, efficient and knowledgeable. He walked me through the process of setting up the app, how to program additional openers and the code to the key pad. He told me how long the battery lasts and how many times the garage doors can be opened and closed with the back up battery when the power is out. I called for help New Year's Eve and was scheduled for New Year Day. They were available and the average price I was given for a spring replacement sounded reasonable. Tech called several times during the day to give me updates on his schedule, it turned out he had to come later than originally scheduled. When he arrived he looked at my door and said I needed a more expensive replacement than their average replacement price. Then he recommended I also should replace a number of other parts because of the age of the door. It turns out that Best & Local Garage Door is a service for other garage door contractors since he worked for Palms Garage Doors. I needed to job done so I agreed to go forward with it at triple the amount that I was expecting. The work was done in only an hour so I think it was an expensive job. The safety sensor was broken at the mount and he said it was because of old plastic- and I had to give him electrical tape to get it back on the bracket. The good part is that my door is operating now, the sad thing is it cost me more. read more

My garage spring suddenly broke one morning before work so I had to find someone quick since my family has to go to work and I had to go to school the next day, and we originally called another place but they suddenly cancelled on us around 4, and at this point my family and I are panicking to find somewhere quick to fix it the same day. Apparently our spring and our garage opener broke so we had to actually replace the whole thing. From what we thought would be a ~$200-300 service turned out to be a little over $1000. We still had to get it fixed cause it was an emergency, but we were still really shocked over how much we would be paying now. They were able to replace our garage opener and spring pretty fast, and everything went smoothly. Our garage used to always bounce up when it used to close and we always thought it was a door problem, but ever since they fixed the garage, it turns out it was just a difference in the opener.
