Gina is so incredibly sweet! I was a little nervous at first because we came towards the end of her day and, in my past experiences, that's when people rush to finish so they can get out on time. NOT the case here!! Gina stayed about 2 hours late to finish a double manicure and took her time making sure it was exactly what we wanted. Only downside to this place is that it's in the pedway so it's a little hidden - which makes it hard to find your first time there, very much worth the treasure hunt though! Ok, so I came to this salon and gave them a hard time because they made the tips of my French manicure too thick and it was gel so hard to re-do. But... Gina managed to fix it. I came here for a manicure and it wasn't what I expected, based on the good reviews. Two people who had called earlier to get service had to leave because they were running behind. My appointment started about 15 minutes late, even though I think that's not cool, I understand if they were overwhelmed. I like to see how a nail place disinfects tools and she brought the tools all set out on a tray from the back, so that threw me off. Also, it was obvious they were talking about their customers in their language, they would talk amongst themselves and look towards certain clients while doing so. They didn't do a good job of painting my nails, as you can see by the photos. The 2nd coat was not well applied, the difference between the 1st and 2nd coats is clearly too visible. I've been here a few times and they do a good job BUT they are never organized! I have seen people with appointments get told they have to wait almost every time I've been there. I had an appointment today and they put me in the chair and made me "soak" for literally an hour. I will not be returning or recommending. I had good expectations for this spot, I'm in town for a training seminar and thought afterward I would get my nails done. I walked down a couple extra blocks since this place had such good reviews. There was a small wait when I arrived, no problem, it's on the bottom floor of one of the buildings downtown so made sense people would come for services after getting off the clock. I selected my SNS color, and the girl who attended to me I noticed seemed preoccupied, realizing after the fact she had wireless headphones in and was FaceTiming with someone the entire time during my service. I had SNS still on a few of my nails, but they were all a decent length to file and shape, I asked for oval nails, which now I realize there's apparently different interpretations of "oval" so as she's starting to file my nails to what looks like almost points from each side, I ask her to round them out. The finished product is decent they're all lopsided from trying to fix the original issue, but there's a chunk of my nail is missing on the left side of my ring finger. And it's so much shorter than the rest of them even though they all started out the same length. For $45 plus a tip I would have appreciated a little more attentiveness and taking a little less out of my finger. read more

Prices are pretty affordable. They do single lashes for $80. Which is damn good. I haven't gotten my eyelash done there. But it's next on my list. Gina's Magic Nails is great. The prices are excellent especially for a downtown location. They also have so many colors to choose from I am never disappointed in there choices. Gina is great at what she does and you only have to tell her the color you like and she knows exactly how to find it fast. It's a small but good sized place so reservations are advised but I have walked in many times and was lucky enough to be serviced. My nails last until my next appointment which is very important to me as I travel a lot and so sometimes it can be up to three weeks before I get in. I have done them while traveling and have been disappointed every time. They also do waxing got my eyebrows done today they looks amazing. It's a warm place that welcomes everyone. The atmosphere was nice and it was clean. Everyone was nice but I asked for narrow coffin shaped nails but with sharp corners. The dip application was good except it didn't start at the cuticle line and looked like it had grown out and the shape was so bad that people asked about them when I went to a meeting that night. I had to go to another salon to get them fixed for an event and the only way to do that was to cut down my natural length which I was bummed about. Then they told me that the nail salon I went to efiled my nail too hard and created damage that can only be fixed by just waiting for it to grow out and since it's at the bottom on my nail it will take a while. In all if you're looking to get dip with precise shape don't come here. read more

This nail spa did not fulfill its promise and reviews. One of the poorer nail salons I've ever been to and I get my nails done about every other week. Gina, the owner, had to redo three of my nails THREE times after she had dipped, buffed, and finished the process! After my nails where finished, I had to take off all the excess nail polish on almost every finger because the polish was all over my skin. My friend got her whole set of dip nails done in half the time it took me to get mine done. I kept getting buffed and filed and buffed and filed until my fingers were basically raw despite me saying stop filing and "ouch" multiple times. Sadly disappointed read more

First visit today for color change of my finger nails. I was super impressed with the cleanliness of the place and the friendly staff. Sterile nail kits and disposable nail files, great color selection, what else could I ask for? I asked Jenna to help me take the sparkles to the 4th of July party in blue. Chicago is a huge city and it's easy to get overwhelmed with the amount of nail salons downtown but Gina's is just a cute little shop right before the Pedway in the basement of 303 N. Wacker. I highly recommend making a reservation with Gina, no matter what time of day. I've seen a lot of people try to come in (myself included) at lunch time and it's packed!
