Amazingly, after being told we'd have a long wait, the attendant told us a group exceeded their time and provided us with a table We had the nicest, most cheerful and energetic server ever. They were out of a lot of things (like no OJ, etc) but the weirdest thing was that there was a server who was standing in the middle of the very small room, playing songs on her phone's speaker and singing out loud to it. Nonstop. Everyone was confused about what was happening. It made it a very uncomfortable situation. Add in that the food was slow because they were down a cook, you would think that the singing waitress could go help with something in the kitchen to offload the cook. They were not offering any concessions because they were out of things either. Also, behind the counter was also very dirty and disheveled and disorganized, giving it a very unsanitized feel. I'll bet the place wouldn't pass a real inspection. No welcome, thanks for coming, etc. just weird. I will say that the food was good. Wish I could giver higher stars for it, but the overall atmosphere and singing and everything else outweigh the food. They are sitting on a potential gold mine based on their location in the Inn, but everything about it is bad. They need a complete reboot.

When we arrived, there was a large bus with tourists that had just arrived so we opted to eat in the bar area versus eating outdoors. Our waitress (Trisha) was one of two bar tenders covering a bar that sat about 12 patrons plus about 6 other tables, She took our orders and then was tied up trying to assist others. We only saw her again when she asked if we desired dessert. My Pasta Fattoria had chicken, spinach, bacon , sun-dried tomatoes, garlic and was very enjoyable. My wife had the steak tips. I could not finish mine so I have lunch for another day. Overall, a nice meal and given the circumstances, Covered Bridge covered most needs.

Now, this price point might seem more appropriate for Downtown Portsmouth or Boston, but it exists for a reason. Not only do you get a large portion of fried chicken, waffles, and syrup, its adorned with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. Effectively, you're getting chicken & waffle eggs benedict. One would need quite the large appetite or have skipped another meal to finish it all.

Still, six runs in that temperature with a stiff wind took the energy out of me. That's when the Backcountry Bar and Grill came through with a superb Irish Coffee that allowed me to be back after thawing out, with new energy and desire to ski.
