While on vacation, we decided to venture out of our resort to pick up dinner. We ordered shrimp pad Thai (medium spice) for pick-up from Ginger & Spice. The food was packaged very well and was still warm when we ate it back at our hotel. The pad Thai was delicious with lots of huge shrimp and the portion size was very generous. 2 of us shared it and I'm glad we did. My wife and I moved to Austin from CA (East Bay) a year ago. This is easily one of my new favorite restaurants in Texas. Headed twenty minutes away to cool air and trivia at Longhorn Caverns, came back here for dinner: perfect evening. I absolutely love that a family of four can get both Thai food and sushi (two of my family's favorites!) and share. Other reviewers were right that the service is great and the portions were spot-on, and props to the guy who said he liked the peanut sauce... it was pretty awesome. In no particular order: The Thai tea was wonderful. Honestly the best I've had in a year, just because it's exactly what Thai tea is supposed to taste like. :) Seaweed salad was great, too. Miso soup was nice, but once you finish the tofu and veggies the broth was too salty to go whole-hog on. We enjoyed the sushi. My wife and I got yellow and green curry, respectively. Went in to have a late lunch today. All advertising including the signage on the front door said they closed at 2:30 PM. We walked in at 1:45 PM, the lady behind the counter said they were only taking "to go" orders. This was very disappointing for us when we clearly saw people seated and eating in the restaurant. We've been here several times in the evening and have been very happy with the food and service. If you want to stop serving before your posted closing time, then change and advertise your closing times! This Thai/sushi restaurant is located in downtown Marble Falls, and has an unassuming facade. I wasn't expecting much from this place in regards to authenticity, but I was taken by surprise. We ordered chicken red curry, chicken green curry, and drunken noodles. The food was AMAZING. Every dish was so authentic and flavorful. The drunken noodles were some of the best I've ever eaten. Came here while visiting Marble Falls for work. Location looks like the perfect spot from outside, but the inside is really lacking. Don't be discouraged, because the Pad Prik King is the best I've had anywhere! It is my go to dish when visiting any Thai restaurant and this far exceeded any I have had before. The taste of true Thai Basil, ginger and fish sauce is outstanding! Perfect medium spice, out of this world good! I also picked up some of the Mango Sticky rice. I was in a huge rush for lunch, but wanted something tasty and spicy. The first thing I told the waitress was that I only had 30 minutes. She quickly directed me to items that come out quickly. I ordered the lunch special #2 - Pad Prik-King. The beans were sautéed perfectly, not too crispy, not mushy. The spice hit just right. The sushi is decent. They did a great job with their homemade spicy mayo. It has a real zing. But their sushi is slightly overpriced. Every roll should be two dollars less. There is no reason to pay 8 dollars for a spicy tuna roll. I suppose since they are the only local marble falls sushi they can mark up . The atmosphere felt a little more like an opium den than the clean wash of a typical Asian fusion joint. The service was neither bad nor good . One waitress was really on the ball and helpful and kind while the other just was less than helpful. Overall when I am craving for sushi and I am in marble falls . My family and I stopped in for dinner while spending a couple of days at HSB resort. My wife, my son, and I, each ordered one sushi roll, and for the price, we all thought they were small, and not great tasting, not terrible, but not as good as what we are use too. My youngest ordered the teriyaki chicken, without veggies (he only wanted chicken and white rice). His plate was plentiful, but he didn't eat much, I tried it and it was okay, but not great. Our bill $80, and the three of us that had sushi left hungry and stopped for a burger after. If the sushi would have been better, we probably would have ordered a second round. I grabbed to go after a rough work day. Had cheese rolls which are amazing! Had massumun curry with shrimp, it's delicious. Such deep flavor that's balanced and addicting. I also got some shrimp toast, which while tasty, a bit greasy but they're deep fried so not a issue. The sauce it comes with is super good! Just a heads up. Our friends arrived a day before we did and had tried 2 restaurants based on the reviews on Yelp and both were a FAIL! I would have to say although not the BEST THAI I've ever had (they claim to serve Authentic Thai) it was good for Marble Falls/TX Hill Country. I know I've said this before on Yelp, but my husband is Thai so we know what "Authentic" Thai should taste like. DISCLAIMER: This wasn't bad by any means, but it was very Americanized. We ordered Edamame (they also served Sushi - very weird I know....never been to a Thai restaurant that serves Sushi too), Dumplings, Chicken Pad Thai, Shrimp Panang Curry, Chicken Basil, & Chicken Basil Fried Rice. We've been "meaning to" try this place for a long time now and finally made it happen. Let me tell you, we were blown away. Started with the dumplins and cheese rolls. They were both a hit. Then we had sushi, a Philadelphia Roll, a Samurai Roll, and a Dragon Roll. They were all three amazing, but the Samurai and the Dragon were both some of the best sushi rolls I've had. I opted for Red Curry and a Kirin Ichiban. I rarely eat unknown Asian, but the high marks on Yelp made me eschew Chili's next to the hotel or Bluebonnet (cash only-yikes! And don't think they serve cerveza). Place wasn't crowded at dinner. A group of 6 guys, a young family of 4, a table with 2 couples and me. Service was a little slow but friendly. You aren't supposed to rush dinner, but heck-I was hungry! The red curry had a great hearty consistency and a nice spicy finish. Pineapples, green & red peppers & good white chicken made it just right. And the vegetables were crispy and fresh-not mushy like it had been stewing awhile. I sometimes feel like Thai curry dishes leave you less than full. No Problem! It was a big portion that tamed my growl. YES YES YES. We were in Marble Falls and had planned to do the 'infamous pie place' but when detoured and had lunch here instead. Best. Peanut Chicken. EVAH. Perfect. Wafer thin tender chicken slices... Steamed vegetables that were JUST the right amount of crisp. (Not hard. Not soggy!) Flavorful and absolutely delicious. In fact, the server came over to 'check on us' and I sheepishly glanced down at my empty plate. We both laughed as I said, "yes.. it was very good." Hubby had combination fried rice which was also very good. They have a sushi and soup bar that was included in our meals but we didn't really take part in. (honestly, our portions were more than adequate.) I did see they had small tapioca servings there though (which I love after peanut chicken) so it was nice to have just a little treat to cleanse the palette without having to order a full dessert. Honestly - this was my favorite meal while we were in Marble Falls. I travel a lot for work and generally rely on Yelp to point me to the good local spots. This afternoon's lunch (at Tea Thyme) was amazing. But for this place, Yelpers, you have let me down in a big way. Came in around 9 for late dinner with a colleague, there were maybe 8 or 9 other tables. I got edamame and a spicy tuna roll; he got a Thai basil noodle dish. Edamame was OK. I like it on the saltier side, but it was really unevenly distributed, like they just shook it on the top rather than in a bowl first - several pods were salt-free, others made my face pucker up Renee Zellwegger style. Colleague's noodle dish came first and I told him to start rather than waiting for me. Glad that he did. About halfway through his meal, I flagged down a waiter (not ours, whom I hadn't seen on the floor since he took our order) and said I was still waiting on a spicy tuna roll. "Let me check on that for you," he said. Five minutes later: "He's making it for you right now." Translation: they forgot to put in the order. Ten minutes later: Colleague is done with his meal, waiters are actively avoiding our table. I finally see our waiter and ask about the roll. "It's coming right up." All things considered, a spicy tuna roll is not super complex. Knowing it'll probably be another few minutes, I ask for it in a to-go box, and they oblige. Another ten minutes, and they come to pick up the check they've dropped. Got back to my hotel around 10:30 to find that it's not, in fact, a spicy tuna roll. Generally, spicy tuna implies tuna mixed with spicy mayo. Not chopped tuna rolled VERY loosely (read; fall-apart loosely) with cucumber, served with spicy mayo on the side. Thing is, the plate presentation on a lot of the other dishes at the restaurant looked pretty good, the ambience was nice, and everyone else on Yelp seems to love this place. So maybe -- I'm hoping -- my case was the anomaly. Regardless, it was the worst dining experience I've had in a very long time. read more
