Hey Family! I love discovering places, based solely on a recommendation. Coincidentally, I was doing a Yelp event nearby and I was making conversation when the bartender suggested that I come here. I haven't tried many vegan desserts because I find that something is always missing, it's lacking flavor, or not sweet enough. I can CONFIDENTLY say that, The Ginger Bread Man Bakery is absolutely amazing and had none of those problems. I dare say that these vegan desserts actually tasted better than some of my other favorite bakeries. I love that this gives me another reason to come to Winston. It's really cute and cozy in the inside. However, it is small but there is some seating. The person at the counter was super helpful and very friendly. She said that of course I couldn't go wrong with getting the classic gingerbread which was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised at how moist it was. There were also a variety of cupcakes where they do rotate them out pretty often. I opted for the blueberry Chai cupcake. I enjoyed the frosting and it had like a blueberry filling on top as well. And lastly I tried the blueberry Cookie Butter Mini pie. That one was very addicting. I tried my best not to eat the whole thing. Since it was warm outside and I had to drive back to Greensboro, I loved that the mini pies where refrigerated and the person at the counter, actually wrapped it up for me so it could stay cool on the ride home. We had an amazing experience visiting Gingerbread Man Bakery in Winston-Salem. The owner Wade took the time to tell us about how the bakery started and how much the community means to him. The shop was inspired by his love for baking and encouragement from friends -- and some of those same friends actually work in the bakery today, which made the environment feel really welcoming. We also loved seeing how he collaborates with other local creatives. From merch designed by a local tattoo artist to candles and soaps made through local partnerships, you can really feel the community support inside the shop. Now for the desserts. We tried: * Blueberry Chai Cupcake * Orange Rosemary Cupcake * Key Lime Cupcake * Fruity Pebbles Cake Pop * Mint Chocolate Chip Cookie * Banana Pudding Cookie * Gingerbread Cookie Every flavor combination was impressive. The blueberry chai cupcake literally tasted like drinking a cup of tea, and somehow the banana pudding cookie actually tasted like banana pudding. Our favorite was the Key Lime cupcake. Stopped by this locally-owned bakery to grab something sweet for my staff and picked up a variety of cupcakes. Overall, they were really good! Everything tasted fresh, and you can definitely tell it's baked in-house. The shop itself is small but super cute, with a few outdoor tables if you want to sit and enjoy your treat. There's a shared parking lot right beside the building, which makes it convenient. I also love the area it's located in l, such a nice little spot. They even carry a few ice cream flavors from another local favorite, Dream Kreams, plus some local sodas. Prices felt fair for fresh, locally made goodies. Another trip to my favorite little treat spot! Cookie butter cinnamon rolls were fresh out of the oven so I had to snag one of those. And I got to sample the fruity pebbles marshmallow crispy treat which was amazing, perfect balance of soft chewy marshmallow and crispy cereal crunch... lots of research went into that one to keep it from being overly dense or tough. I went looking for coffee but left with a box full of goodness. Easily one of the best places I've explored on this weekend trip. Jake gave me not only a history lesson on Ginger Bread, but a little more information on Winston Salem. You will be full into sample mode trying ice cream and cookies only to realize it's the cinnamon roll that's gonna steal the show...a few days later I remembered I opted for the cinnamon roll and it surely didn't disappoint. If you ask me, make sure you take one home...they are sitting right on the counter in full display mode. Cute little shop with a nice variety of choices. I picked a beautiful cupcake and a big chocolate chip cookie. To be honest, once I got it home I had no idea what kind of cupcake I had. Wow! What a hidden gym right in downtown Winston-Salem beside Ardmore Coffee! It is such a cute little bakery with lots of fresh looking pastries, cookies, and brownies! They also offer yummy looking cupcakes. The helpful employee also explained to me that the pastries on the top shelf were the newest featured items and the ones on the one under it where the items that were featured last week and in previous weeks. He also said that they sell pop tarts. What a throwback! since I'm a chocolate lover, I decided to try the chocolate brownie, which is huge! It is also very reasonably priced as it was only five dollars and change! The employee was also extremely friendly and kind! The ambience is also cozy and warm. Well it's official, we can add Ginger Bread Man Bakery to my list of top bakeries in the triad. A friend took me by here because she knows me and sugar go hand in hand. I got a brown sugar poptart and a berry poptart along with a cookie butter cinnamon roll. The poptarts had the perfect ratio of pastry to filling and I swear the cinnamon roll was at least 2 lbs. This was enough to have me coming back less than a week later to try a cupcake and two cookie sandwiches (birthday cake and ginger bread). Everything again was delicious and the ginger bread cookie sandwich is top three of all time and a best bite of 2024. The space inside is super cute and the staff/owner are gems. What an incredible spot. It is such an unassuming spot and I found it through the power of social media. Someone shared it, and we were going to be at Baptist so I thought what the heck lets try it. When a number of Yelp Elite big hitters praise a new spot, best thing to do, is find out what the noise is about. I'm in this area frequently because some of my favorite local restaurants are close by - PB's, Grecian Corner, and New Sichuan, with Mr BBQ a bit further away! I came for the Ginger Bread Man Sandwich filled with butter cream. It was simply excellent - slightly peppery from the Ginger, but not the least over done. This is the best Ginger Bread I've tasted. All of the flavors were appealing and it was a tough choice! The owner was hilarious and helpful when making such a life-altering decision. What a great spot! I had been seeing Ginger Bread Man Bakery pop up in my social feed, and loved the look of the treats and the welcoming spirit of the owners, so I decided to drop by. Really glad I did, and also, helps it is right next to one of my top hot dog spots... PBs! It's a tiny place, but is very warmly decorated, and honestly... a bakery can get away with a smaller space. Locks in those amazing aromas! There is a nice patio outside to enjoy your treats, and a couple of cafe tables inside as well. The case is packed with yummy items, cupcakes, moon pies, cookies, and of course... gingerbread men. I wanted a cupcake, and they had a gingerbread cupcake! Something I have not had before. The presentation was perfect, and it was given to me in the perfect sized cupcake container, barely any icing escaped, didn't smash anything, just the right size for their treats. The icing was smooth, airy, sweet enough without making your eyes widen. The cake itself, packed with ginger and general fall flavors. Obviously their specialty, and they nailed it. My wife has watched the opening date for a new vegan bakery in the Ardmore neighborhood of Winston. We stopped in this past weekend which was their first week open. Situated next door to Ardmore Coffee and sharing the same parking area as PB's and Cafe Arthur's, the exterior is welcoming and they even have a couple of small tables and chairs where you can sit and enjoy your treats. We walked in and were immediately impressed. It's decorated very cheerful. We were greeted by the young man working and waited our turn in the short line. We looked over the offerings as we stood in line. We saw a large variety of cupcakes ranging from pumpkin, lemon blue raspberry, ginger velvet and cookie butter. There were several cookie options from chocolate chip to gingerbread men, and brownies. They even have a small cooler of ice cream with four flavors. When we reached the front of the line we explained that we are more cookie people than cupcakes and asked the young man to walk us through the options. We both decided on the blend cookie which is a chocolate chip cookie with a blend of darker chocolate. We also ordered one of the gingerbread cookies. Everything was packaged nicely and the prices were reasonable. They even have a small variety of swag including stickers, t shirts, and a tote bag. We decided to sit in the sunshine outside and enjoy our desserts. We both agreed the cookies were delicious and we enjoyed each and every bite. My wife decided to go back in and order one last cookie, the gingerbread man sandwich with buttercream. We also were able to meet the owner, Wade. He was extremely helpful and friendly. We are excited for another bakery option in the area, especially one who specializes in dietary restrictions and/or personal preferences. They are also open Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 7pm! Just popped in for the first time and this place is absolutely lovely! The two gentleman in the bakery were very hospitable, personable and full of energy. The cupcakes are super yummy. I purchased a carrot cake, a birthday cake and a pumpkin espresso cupcake. I also purchased a brownie and a chocolate chip cookie. So far I have tasted the carrot cake cupcake and boyyyy is it good. I've been following them on FB and wanting to try on my monthly visits to WS and finally today they were open on Monday and I made it! So glad I did. Not a huge place or a big selection but plenty that looked yummy. I picked a chocolate chip cookie and a mango pineapple coconut cupcake for myself and a gingerbread man cookie for my daughter. Very cute and bright on the inside, if just a tad cramped. They were friendly and attentive at the counter. When it comes down to it, though, I have to say that none of the baked goods blew my mind. I prefer my baked goods to be soft and, sadly, I found everything, from the cookies, to the cupcakes, to the brownies, were dry. Surprisingly so because I didn't get that impression when I opened the cookie although it was pretty hard on the outside. Hopefully that's not the case all the time. Additionally, nothing was particularly sweet, which I suppose could be a good thing, depending on how you look at it. It's a perfect place to have a nice treat to share with a friend as you're walking around the neighborhood. I had the chai espresso cupcake. The flavor was so balanced and nuanced. I'm not one to give 1-star reviews. In years of being on Yelp, this is my 16th overall 1-star out of hundreds of reviews, so I don't pass out 1-star lightly. The staff is so friendly and answers all your questions. We ordered there regular brownie, a fancy brownie, and a chocolate chip cookie. Finally made it in after hearing so many people rave about it and it did not disappoint! The first thing I noticed was how absolutely delicious it smelled as soon as we walked in the door.
