This was a spa I go regularly because it's in my neighborhood and it was cheap and they usually have openings for walk-ins. I came to know 2 of my favorite therapists, Jason and Eric. The place is a bit run-down, and because they are next to Lincoln Hotel, they get lots of China tourists as customers. Be expected that the TV will be on. Customers speak loudly on their phones while in session and may even put it on speaker phone! There's constant interruptions so it's not very relaxing. The management doesn't seem to do anything about it. As much as I think the therapists are skilled, I really dislike that most of the males are heavy smokers, so you can smell it on their fingers and breath as they work on you. This has led me to look elsewhere for a place I can go regularly without worrying about noise or smokers working on me. read more

Horrible experience. So I went in with my two friends, one Mexican, and one Cantonese (me being the only one who speaks Mandarin and understands the employees), sat down at three chairs, and the first thing I hear one of our masseuses say is "Do they all speak Mandarin?" I didn't think anything of it until about a quarter way into our massage, they started talking crap about their other clients. First, one of them was talking about someone who had horrible sandal tan lines on their feet. Second, someone who always falls asleep and how they make easy money off of them cause that customer always just falls asleep through their entire massage so they can slack. They shouldn't even be talking and laughing with each other while massaging clients.. They also left the door open the entire time. It was very cold and unpleasant and we could hear each car drive by on the street. The music was also off half the time so it was very uncomfortably quiet the first half of our massage. I forgot to mention! When we came in, they only had two masseuses available so I had to lay there and wait 10 minutes for one of the other misuses to finish on a different client. At the end, when the only two female masseuses finished on my friends, so did the male masseuse when I should've gotten an extra 10 minutes. On top of that, when it came time to pay ($20 each), we each gave them $5 tip. According to other yelp reviews, they expect $10 tip and it's true. They didn't clarify on the prices when we walked in, but when my friend handed my masseuse my $5 tip for me, he says "Just $5?" and scoffs. I should've said "Well yeah, you cut my massage short ten minutes." And the nerve of them, to expect 50% tip and have no shame in showing it. I'm never coming back here again. read more

Around the corner off of Garvey, kinda easy to miss if you're not looking for it. This is a typical Chinese foot massage place, ya walk in to a practically morgue-esq quiet room with about a dozen large recliners, Chinese people sprawled out on them while an older Chinese person kneads their pains away. It's always something when you(white guy) walks in, the music stops, they all look up at you for a second, then go back to massaging. Usually there is a seat or two open, you take your shoes off, sit down and wait for a bucket of luke warm water to be brought out for you to relax your feet in. Frankly I wish it was hotter, much hotter, so sometimes I'll ask for it and always obliged. You are reclined back and they start on your face and head, and I gotta tell you, it is quite the experience. Nothing like someone massaging your face and head, especially that first time. You can't not live without it, and I go back for that as much as the foot massage. After about 20 minutes of that, they take your feet out of the bucket, dry 'em off and lotion them up and get to working on your feet. As much as they are all similar, they can all be very different in the amount of pressure applied, what techniques are used, what spots are concentrated on, etc. Personally I like it rough, make me wince is what I always say. You come out sore but damn it's a good sore. Sadly it's really hit or miss, each masseuse is different. I prefer the raking of the knuckles along the bottom of my feet and on my heels, and along the sides of the shins. It hurts like hell at the time, but trust me, it gets the blood flowing and your body really comes alive afterwards. The feet and lower legs goes on for about 20-25 minutes and then they flip you over on your stomach and work your back, shoulders, hammies. I'm a bigger guy, so I prefer this style compared to other places where they sit you up and try to massage your back and shoulders. Overall this is a very typical place. I've had some really good ones, and some so-so ones. I suggest if you find someone that you liked, get their name and or phone number(yes they'll give it to you, they want your money!) and call them before you go. They usually live really close or are working at another place and will come over and meet you. Cost is $15 for the hour long service, dirt cheap. Typically a $5 tip is the standard, but often we'll give $25 which is still really cheap for what you get. Because I'm a bigger guy and if the person really worked me over like a giant pizza dough, I'll give $30. And bring cash, I don't think any of them take cards, but they might. read more

I have been going to this place for almost three years, and have been here from 25 to 30 times. The spa has six foot massage recliners in the main room, a TV is on one wall, has Chinese programming. There is also two rooms to the left for body massage, and in the back left corner is the couples massage room. This is the room we usually end up in, me and my lovely Dezhi. We both like a hard massage, very hard, and there are some massage therapists here that will make it hurt so good. This massage store never steals time from you. The employees do not screw around on the phone, I have not had trouble with them gossiping with each other annoying us while they are "on our time". We have been satisfied with service here, otherwise we would not continue to come back. That having been said, we feel satisfied with tipping. They have not nagged us for tips. And my tips for you: if you want couples massage, it is best to call ahead and schedule, this can be a busy store, but they have always worked us in within 2 to 3 hours of when we call. I do NOT recommend this "business." I was provided with a mediocre foot massage for which I still tipped at a 25% rate and was told by the woman who had done the massage that there was a MANDATORY $10 tip. She actually insisted quite loudly in broken English that $10 was required. Apparently she and the business does not understand the concept of a tip. The foot massage was $20 so a $10 mandatory "tip" is 50% of the cost. If there are additional mandatory fees then the price is $30 for a foot massage - not $20 with a mandatory $10 so called tip. Recommendation to the "business" -- charge $30 if that is the fee that is required. Consumer: Avoid the aggravation and go across the street to the other foot spas. Heard about this location from a co-worker & tried it out for the 1st time on Saturday. Had the best experience with Tom. I was so impressed I called & made an appointment with Tom this evening. Well Tom was busy so lucky me I got a lady that never spoke to me until the "massage" was over. It was the worst massage I have ever had! More of just a rub with cold hands! The blanket was just covering my lap & no towel was placed over my eyes. This woman didn't even touch my ears! I only mention this because Tom did all of that & more. When it was time to pay I gave a $20 bill & asked for my change. I was informed there is no change & that the tip is $5 & up. Well no where does it say that in this location or on the website. I am extra upset that I was forced to leave a tip that was not earned! Don't understand why they would make an appointment & then not honor it. In reading some of the other reviews I will be asking Tom for his number or I will just wait for him. Tonight was a waste of my time & my money! On a scale of 1-10 my lady get's a big fat 0! Tom on the other hand get's a 12!
