This place is a scam honestly. I literally just called this place and asked them the price of a full body massage. The person said it was $45 for an hour. It sounded great and I wanted to confirm if tipping was required. She said it was optional, but minimum is $15 - $20... If you're going to require tip, don't falsely advertise low prices and then demand tip afterwards. Last time I came here and tipped them $10 each, they were hounding my gf and I for more money... What was the $45 for anyways then? If these people believe in tipping for their jobs, then why don't you tip the janitor who cleans the restrooms and facilities or the chefs who actually cook your food? Went here as a last minute plan for me and my two friends. The ladies STAYED OPEN for us until 11 PM and we were extremely thankful for that. Turns out they close at 10 if they have no appointments after that. Our mistake! But, the massage was to die for! The 3 ladies did our feet and full body and completely worked our backs and legs. Oh Senses, you have loosened me up and have become my go to massage place for both my body and my feet! You guys are good and have never disappointed me. It was so good one time that I even gave you $20 tip! Unlike other places that gripes about gratuity at times, you guys has always been appreciative and quiet about what's given in the name of business. It's a modest thing. The tip reflects the service and quality. This place has always been one of the cleaner ones. Not as big compared to other massage places, it has fewer chairs, and less private rooms, which I think is totally fine. I usually prefer to sit outside in the main room. There, you could watch television during the massage, chat with your friends, and I feel more relaxed. In the private rooms, I feel kind of weird just because... Well, unless my whole body aches then I'll go for a body massage. They charge $20 for a hour foot massage, $30 for a body massage, $35 for a combination foot and body. They also have 90 minutes sessions for an additional cost. Their massages here has always been good. I feel very relaxed here, as the massuese knows what they are doing. Very suttle and the strength is enough to relax you instead of getting a rug burn from a dummy (at other places) who is just there to rush you in and out while clock watching. I've been to a number of massage places, including a handful of foot massage places in San Gabriel, but not as many as my friend who grew up in San Gabriel. We always end up back here. He loves it....he usually ends up falling asleep, snoring. For an hour foot massage, which is a massage that includes way more than just your feet (I've never figured out why they call it just a foot massage), I've never expected much of ambiance. The fancy Thai massage places - you do get privacy and more exotic ambiance, but it is very pricey. The last one cost me $50, the one before in Silverlake cost me $150, and it hurt physically as well as financially. I guess I'm like Annie W. - I don't really dig people standing on my back nor alot of pain. But I really love it here, because the lights are low, and its a quieter more relaxed peaceful atmosphere than the noisy and bright other foot massage places I've been to. At one other place, my masseuse smelled like cigarettes and was either on his cell phone, or chatting in Chinese with another masseuse. He might have been talking smack about me too damn it. I'm as good at Chinese as I am at math. But I am a fairly good driver during day light hours. Here however, there is music playing softly in the background. I especially like the part in the beginning where your feet are put in very warm water.....Warm tea is served too. Sure, a martini would be better than the tea, but alas, I have yet to find a foot massage place that also serves cocktails.... For $15, I think its such a small price for such a soothing experience... 15 bucks - dang it's so inexpensive - I went back twice one weekend. I've taken a number of friends here - and last night a group of six of us took over the place. Two had never had foot massages before. "No, you don't have to take off all your clothes" and "No Mel, you won't get a happy ending here." I called ahead and within half an hour the six of us were sitting there in large comfortable chairs. It was a lot of fun going in a group. Next time we discussed hitting Newport Seafood in San Gabriel and then in a food coma going to get foot massages here. Awww..... The place is so easy. It's conveniently located - it's just north on San Gabriel Blvd. off the 10 freeway. They are open late and take credit cards. I usually don't make reservations, and I've never had to wait. When you walk into a massage place, you expect peace and serenity. That's what you get here, but it gets annoying when the massage therapists start talking to you or each other or with other customers. I DO NOT like conversations when I go for a massage. I like to close my eyes and focus on the serenity and relaxation. My friend Ed took me here while I was in the area and we both agreed to go get a massage to kill time before dinner. I don't go to massages as much as I used to because of time and money. I used to love going at least once a week! I found a good therapist but she's always too busy because she is that good! I haven't found a good one since her. Anyways, I got a body massage while Ed got a foot massage. The very small rooms are kept up with dry wall and a curtain, no doors. While my massage is in session, I could hear the other massage therapists speaking loudly. My masseuse likes to talk to as I hinted I don't. So I pretend to fall asleep and make a snoring noise so she can be quiet. But after I faked my sleep, I realized she got kind of lazy and didn't use much strength anymore and she didn't get my pressure point at the right area. $30 for a full body massage in a "room". For $25, you get one hour full body massage, with oil (and not just lotion). Sure they'll talk occasionally, but man, my masseuse had some strength, which really made me feel relaxed. I got a 60-minute body massage/20-minute foot massage combo for $30 (I was planning on just getting the 60-minute body massage for $25, but the combo deal seemed too good to pass up). But when it came time to pay and I attempted to tip $5, I was told I had to tip more because I'd upgraded to a massage combo. I couldn't understand the lady's explanation and finally just said, what do I have to tip? She said $10. If they need to receive a certain amount for a combo massage, why not just CHARGE that amount for the combo (say, $35) instead of luring me in with a super-low price and then forcing a higher tip? Then I'd have a more honest idea of what the massage would cost, and the whole experience wouldn't have ended on a negative note. I was hesitant to try a new place but I took the risk and was very happy for trying this place. The massage was amazing. I have a lot of knots all throughout my shoulder blades and upper back and she used just the right amount of pressure to work them out. I would give it a 4 and a half, the only thing that that kept me from giving it 5 is that it was freezing inside. I told them it was cold and they were friendly about making sure I was comfortable. I would definitely go back. So since writing that review I've gone back quite a few times. Like 9 times! I love this place. There was just only one time I got a very bad massage. Just finished a "90 min" massage. The massage itself was decent. Unfortunately i cannot recommend this place based on a number of issues. They're not adequately staffed for walk-ins. I was told to undress and wait in the room while it took another 15 minutes for their call-in massuse to arrive. He came right in with keys jangling on his hip and attempted to start working. He quickly realized it annoyed him as much as it did for me. Half way thru, he asked if i wanted to upgrade another 30 minutes, i told him i was here for a 90 minute massage. I took my friend and I here for a full body massage and the prices are low and the place looked clean and it wasn't busy at all. Let me tell you the massage is PAINFUL. And I made it verbal to the masseuse that she was applying for too much pressure but she didn't care to listen to me anyways. I also informed her that I had just gotten my ears pierced and to be gentle around them but she didn't understand me, didn't care to understand, and kept whacking my ears with her hands. OUCH. then at the end she and her other masseuse who took care of my friend were dumbfounded at the fact that we only wanted to tip them $5 and literally insisted that we need to give them $10 EACH. First time here and the last time. This place was oddly intriguing and I was slightly fearful about going in to get a massage. I have always been skeptical of asian massage places with the red lanterns out in front. I have always wondered what was the different between asian masage places with the red lanterns and without the red lanterns. Is it a secret message for an underground group? This place has the red lanterns and I wanted to tread carefully. The front desk was very nice and she led us to a couples room massage. This place requires you to remove clothing for the massage. We were asked if we wanted a hard or medium or light massage. I asked for a firm and hard massage and they were twisting my neck and driving their knuckles into my back. It was quite painful at times, but I figured that it would drive away some of the upper back and lower back tension that I was having. My masseuse' phone kept on going off and she would talk to her partner or the masseuse on the other side of the wall while giving the massage (all in Chinese). There wasn't any relaxing music, but we did hear the background music from a television set. There was also construction going on upstairs with hammering and thumping around. There was also a couple of adults arguing in Chinese in the background and our massueses having to go out there to shush them. Unprofessional? Yes. Relaxing and Zen-Like? I took my boy friend here because he said he never had a message before and I had a coupon for this place. They ask you to pay before they give you the message which is fine. However, my boyfriend doesn't carry much cash and wanted to pay with a card, which they accept. But they keep on pushing us to pay with cash saying that there is a 2 dollar swiping fee. They constantly press on the bone when they are massaging the shoulder and lower back which cause a lot of pain. by the time my massage was over my shoulder started to hurt even though it wasn't hurting before. From my past experiences, I know that this is not supposed to happen. When we leave they demanded us to pay them tip, which is fine but we only had 9 more dollars left on us after they forced us to pay cash in the beginning. So we gave them all the cash we had but the lady looked at us and said "only $9 tips for 2 people?" and gave us a stink eye. Another lady informed us that we were supposed to pay a minimum of $5/person. First of all, I don't think they deserved a 20% tip because the massage wasn't THAT great. But the the fact that they told us we were supposed to pay more $5/person is ridiculous. I don't think I will ever come back here for massage and I will not recommend this place to anyone.
