Food is good for takeout. But don't feel like this is a restaurant to sit down. But the food is good.

We happened to be in the region because of Airbnb and needed a large amount of rice that we forgot to bring. They were nice enough to let us try the rice that they have at the restaurant and communicate with us of an appropriate portion size before making the purchase. Thank you! read more

General Tso chicken, no. What is that flavor? And hard! Chicken fingers, terribly over breaded, tastes a lot like gen. Tso, and chicken is hard! And what's that flavor? Spring rolls - are they? Or are they egg rolls? Everything tasted similar, even the white rice. Top it off with old soft fortune cookies. Really? Maybe wash that clear glass tip vase so you can see through it. I asked a local man how the food was before entering this restaurant. He said "it isn't awful". The food was fairly priced, and it was pretty good hot and sour soup, but the luncheon specials had a dark brown sauce that was very salty. FYI, bathrooms and floors are filthy. Makes me wonder how dirty the kitchen is. The whole place needs a steam cleaning. Booth seats are held together with duct tape. We went here today for the first...and most likely last time. The waitress who took our order was friendly, the food came out in a timely manner, and the prices were average. The problem was cleanliness. We definitely should have turned ourselves around and walked back out the door when we sat down and my mom noticed the plate on the wall was kind of dirty. Looking around, I noticed the pepper shaker looked pretty bad and their was a big stain under the glass on the table. Ok, so maybe they had a super busy day... Meanwhile the waitress had taken our order and delivered the tea which was very different from any I've had before. It wasn't great, but it was ok. It had a weird flowery flavor, and was also kind of watery. Our food came out all at different times, which left some of us waiting for our orders a few minutes longer. It wasn't more than a minute or two between servings but still seemed odd. I had ordered the sesame chicken. It was crispy and not to bad flavor-wise. The rice was ok and the egg roll pretty good. I had ordered Terriyaki steak which was good when hot, but had a very odd flavor when it cooled. The french fries I ordered were good. My daughter didn't like the orange chicken much. It didn't have a good citrus flavor. My mom didn't like her kung pou chicken and dad didn't care for his sweet and sour chicken at all. It wasn't until after we had eaten that I went to the restroom. I literally almost lost lunch. It was disgusting! No way was this from a busy day. The sink looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks! The light switch was very dirty, too. I felt like I was in one of those bathrooms at a car garage or something. ICK!! If I had gone in before ordering I would have left. I just hope we don't all get sick. I guess I ordered the wrong thing. Not busy at all this night. I ordered a Kung Pao Chicken combo. The white steamed rice was just fine. The egg roll was greasy and nondescript in flavor. The Kung Pao Chicken was unlike any I have ever had and not in a good way. Instead of uncoated cubed chicken, I had irregular shaped pieces that had a coating similar to general Tso's chicken. The chicken also had an unusual texture. The veggies included mushrooms, celery and green pepper. There were some peanuts and a few dried chili peppers but very little flavor. The price was reasonable and service was prompt as I waited for my take out. I haven't gotten food here in years and doubt I will again. I would be very interested to hear what successful dishes that people had there. read more

This is one of the best places to get good clean Chinese food. The chef is amazing...he will come out and make sure your specific needs are met (no MSG, gluten-free...blah blah blah). Take out is great; call and go pick it up in less time than it takes to drive there! OK the place is old, the booths are in need of replacement. The one waitress is their daughter...that's ok by me. I love her! She is smart, personable, efficient, and very pleasant. Don't go there if you are looking for the alcohol infused experience. Yes, there's a bar. Yes, there's a TV. Yes, there are some locals! Go there for the food and I doubt you will be disappointed. read more

This place is great, it has inexpensive food, incredible service, and a nice atmosphere. Their sushi and sashimi are usually very fresh and very inexpensive as well. That being said, the drinks are not nearly as hard as I would like as the drinks tasted more like fruit punch than the Mai-Tai or Scorpion Bowls my friends and myself have ordered. Overall, they are a great establishment that I have and will continue to visit because of the convinence of their location and the overall quality of their product. read more

This place is the epitome of cheep Chinese food at a not so cheap price. In my estimation they are over priced. They cater to the area, they are dumping and not well maintained, they sit where the once proud Rynborn club used to be. One of the few establishments that still allows smoking in doors, isn't that against the law? What am I missing here? If you are slob or a bottom feeder you will probably love this place, and a perfect location for that. Years ago when it first opened, it was a great restaurant. Not very good now. Heat turned off in the dead of winter is never a good sign. Empty at lunch time is another bad sign. Food and service was average at best. Will not be back. read more

They lost my business. Twice I ordered chicken and almonds and twice got home to find that I was given chicken and peanuts. Not that it's a huge issue but they could have told me that they were out of almonds and given me the option to change my order. They aren't the only show in town. read more

Ginger House has always been hit or miss for me. The family that owns the place seems very friendly but not enough to run this restaurant. At 6pm on a Friday, A young girl, about 13, ran the front of the house by herself - she was the restaurant's only waitress and also managed all the phone orders and take out counter. An even younger girl, probably 8 years old, stood behind the bar and defended the restaurant's poor customer service with a patron who had been waiting 30 minutes just to place his order. The food was fantastic, a huge improvement over my last visit more than a year ago. It was all cooked perfectly and lots of flavor - just the right amount of spice. Though the food is good I would not recommend going during peak hours, even for take out. This small place is simply not equipped to handle a dinner rush efficiently. Between 6 and 7 on a Friday night, more than half the restaurant's tables were filled with people just waiting for their take out orders. read more

Ordered and picked up. My husband was hung up on. Order came with no white rice for moo goo gai pan. Pancakes were the best thing there and they were day(s) old and reheated. Chicken in the moo goo gai pan was inedible and tasted rotten. I dont know how they stay in business. Order at your own risk. read more

We had been traveling for hours on a long car trip back from Maine. We were starved and finally stopped after 3:00 pm at this restaurant in Antrim. We should have kept on going. Our Szechuan shrimp entree was really poor. The shrimp had an off flavor and were served with a huge mound of hot, tasteless iceberg lettuce and equally flavorless sauce. Honestly, who cooks iceberg lettuce? A few pepper pieces and snow peas were thrown in for color, but they were far too sparse to rescue the dish. The Shanghai spring rolls were crispy at least, but still didn't have much flavor. Service was efficient, but inattentive. Terrific food at a not too expensive price. Have a big family and we always order the Family Combo C which gives us enough food for days. Love the rangoons and egg rolls. To Bryan R's remarks, I believe the "once proud" Rynborn was next door where Rednecks is now located. And all I can say about the Rynborn is yuck. One of the worst meals and worst service I've ever had. But this is about the Ginger House. Definitely our go-to restaurants. read more

Service-Completely Horrible! FOOD?, never had the opportuntiy to sample their food. I ride a motorcycle, (might be the issue). I was on a long ride and saw an inviting opportunity to eat some Sashimi or Sushi. I pulled in to an empty parking lot around 4:00pm on a Saturday, and found an empty restaurant. Walked in and with no waiter/waitress to be found, used the restroom and THEN was greeted immediatetly by a very angry (owner-bartender?) accussing me of just wanting to use the restroom!! Long story short-polite words were exchanged on my behallf, not his, this person was rude and refused to serve me, verging on racial. I reached into my wallet and left 2$ on the bar for using the RR and this person followed me out to the parking lot and threw the money at me. (Don't need money I assume) I remember this building to be the Rheinborn in Antrim and it had the best service, food and atmosphere-Blues bar?- What happened Antrim? DO NOT GO TO THE GINGER HOUSE!!!!!! Ever! You'll insult the past owners and be insulted while you trying to get a meal. My 2$ worth... Which I picked up. read more

Delicious Chinese food and the owner is wonderful

Had a really good take out dinner here last weekend. Now, I've got to qualify this review by saying my family's favorite Chinese foods can all be found in the appetizer section of the menu. Egg rolls, chicken fingers, crab rangoon, beef teriyaki, chicken wings - all were delicious. The perfect kind of east coast Chinese food you just can't get in CA. My husband went for mushu chix and hot & sour soup - both were just OK, not really good. I like this place! Good food, fast service, decent prices. Only been there for lunch, can't speak to the alcohol drinks or the dinner prices. Love the kung pao chicken, the wife loves the shrimp and broccoli. She always takes a doggy bag home. When I go to Hillsborough or Deering, I always swing by there for lunch. Adds an extra half hour to my trip, but well worth it. Try it, you'll like it! read more

My first impression of this tiny restaurant is the lack of service and the stress out waiter. I have to wait 35 min for my order. The General Tso chicken is made of fatty batter and tiny chuck of dark meat. The chicken wing tasted like it is microwave and it is very greasy. The house special fried rice is dry and taste like it has been sitting around for hours. Well, I heard the owner has a buffet business in VT that was closed recently. I would spend my money elsewhere for buffet style chinese food. read more
