The food was fresh and well prepared but the "spicy" dishes (Spicy Dumplings with peanut sauce & some Thai Fusion Chicken with Basil & Pineapple) were extremely bland and flavorless. My dining companion got the Sushi appetizer and said it was decent. The vegetable tempura was very good, crisp and not at all greasy. The atmosphere is gray and dismal and there was a couple nearby who was bickering loudly the entire time which was distracting. The building has seen much better days. The service was great. Food quality has been consistently good for a couple of times that we have come. Where in the past we had considered going to jaffrey or even beyond Milford for good chinese I could see going here in the future for more than just scorpio bowls and poo poo platters which I think I might have lived off of in my 20s. Soups were really delicious when we were here and the fried rice tasted soft and light just like I love it. Still hard to find a healthy option that also tastes good other than sushi and most of the rolls include shell fish making me hesistant to order. I went to Kogetsu last night with my mom. For the region, it really is pretty decent. We got sushi, some tempura, dumplings, and a house special. Everything was pretty good. It is probably the best choice for Japanese/Panasian food in the area, and I do think they're doing the best they can while catering to local tastes. The sushi was decent, and I would eat it again-- though I thought that the rice could use a little bit more seasoning. The fish was well presented, which was good. I liked the green tobikko. Super cute! I would have liked if they had offered sweet potato sushi, since that's my mom's favorite. No biggie, though. The tempura was also pretty good. The vegetables were crispy and fresh. The batter was light, which was nice. The peanut dumplings were pretty meh. The sauce was thin and kind of bland, and the dumplings were nondescript. I wouldn't turn my nose up at them, but they could have used a little bit of ginger or something to give them some extra flavor. The house special was also decent. We had asked for it extra spicy, but it wasn't even a little bit spicy. I understand, though, because the kitchen doesn't necessarily want to blow the socks off of its customers. Although I respect that, it would have been nice if it had had a little kick, since the menu said it was hot. It was like typical sweet and sour chicken with some basil leaves. The food quality has been consistently very good. I had been ordering take away since we moved back to NH in 2020. The patio is one of the most beautiful in the area. It is a bit noisy out there next to the waterfall which caused an older couple to choose to sit inside, but I think it's exceptionally perfect. Back years ago when I worked at the liquor store I had stopped ordering because the food was inconsistent, sometimes really good, but other times tossable. I'm really happy they've turned it around. Plus now this is the only game in town to order Japanese or Chinese food from, and- no I don't consider Pearl, an actual Asian restaurant. I usually order sushi from here, but the tempura is really fried perfectly and I highly recommend the tempura shrimp. I've tried the Chinese appetizers and I am not as big a fan of these as I am Japanese and Malaysian foods, but still tasty . The thai is pretty run of the mill, and there's a decent Thai restaurant in Perborough(not enjoyable for dine in though in my opinion) I'd recommend sticking with the Japanese or Chinese cuisines at Kogetsu. The drinks are tasty and good value. Service is easy going and attentive, the atmosphere is more formal with a beautiful dining room, but you can come as you are and enjoy the ambiance and cuisine. read more

This was the worst food I have eaten in a few decades. The kicker was when the sweet and sour chicken came out and it was a strange dye color and the server told me it was gluten free because it was cooked in corn starch. As if that made anything better! Well all the food was Excellent and I'd love to leave a nice five star review but the bathroom for women Was Dark and Dirty Floor looked liked it hadn't been really cleaned in quite awhile Which makes one question Hygiene in the kitchen ? And this is where your staff washes there hands and such. I can't believe I didn't know about this place sooner! It's a really nice little place with a beautiful view. I'm not sure why the downstairs was blocked off. I don't know if it was used before or not. We were seated upstairs in a very open room next to a window with a nice view even in winter. We both ordered hot green tea and it was delicious! They brought it out in some really nice large mugs. They don't leave a pot but they did give us a refill. I ordered orange beef and my husband ordered a sushi dinner. I also ordered a wonton soup. My husband's meal came with soup so he had hot and sour. They were nice and hot and flavorful! The food was delicious as well! I loved their egg rolls and my orange beef had a lot of slices of orange peel so it had a nice taste. After the meal we were to full for dessert and it was also about then that I realized I had forgotten to take pictures of the food. No matter how many times I go there it seems to get less and less Respectful to there Regular customers who they don't know about. Our Father's Day dinner 2025 was pretty disappointing to say the least. We made it a tradition the last 3 years to go here on Father's Day because in the past it was very good. This time, not so much. Everything seemed to be off, even the service. We waited a little too long for our order to be taken first of all. Second, the food temperatures were very concerning. Our spicy dumplings were barely lukewarm. The sushi was not as cold as it should have been. They had no oysters at all. The biggest disappointment of the evening was the sizzling sirloin dinner I ordered. Not only was it not sizzling, it was so tough & chewy I could not even chew or swallow the meat. For $22.95, and maybe 8-10 bite sized pieces of very tough meat & a side of rice, it was just terribly disappointing. Perhaps we'll try again next Father's Day or not. First off: unbelievably beautiful spot. The surroundings themselves are worth the price of the meal. I had the tofu steak, which was delicious (a tad bit less sauce would've made it perfect) and the man had the chef's special with lobster. The service was efficient and friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. The interior of the restaurant is closed during the pandemic, so everyone gets to eat outside on the patio overlooking Noone Falls. Highly recommend! read more

The surrounding foliage around Kogetsu was beautiful, but the overall scenery was underwhelming since the waterfall wasn't running with the water level being too low. Service was efficient, and there was plenty to browse through in the menu. I was a bit overwhelmed by the sheer variety of Asian foods (Chinese, Malaysian, Japanese, etc.) offered, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing because it reminded me of the saying, "Jack of All Trades, Master of None." We also went during lunch-time on a holiday but were told we couldn't order the lunch set boxes as they were only serving from the dinner menu on the holiday. Overall, I enjoyed the stir fried rice noodle dish we ordered, but none of us were too impressed with the sushi; the fish tasted fine but the rice tasted completely unseasoned. Food just okay, not that great. I had a combo plate of Rice with Chicken Fingers, Chicken Wings, and Teriyaki Chicken. It's all tasteless especially chicken wings, taste so plain. It came with a dipping sauce that taste and look just like an apple sauce. Also had Penang Char Kway Teow to go, but it's definitely it does not look or taste like Penang Char Kway Teow at all. The pic on the menu does not look like the one I ordered. It all came black from too much soy sauce with Itty bitty shrimp in it, no bean sprouts or chive in it, not too mention too salty as well. As a Malaysian, I know exactly how Penang Char Kway Teow suppose to look and taste like. Normally this place is great. However when we picked up our food the bags were SOAKED in some sticky mess covering most of the meals, the "teriyaki chicken" is a soggy mess of chicken with no teriyaki tastes more like rice wine vinegar. Informed them of a shellfish allergy and ended up having an allergic reaction. We spent $140 for subpar food, a mess and an allergic reaction. When called they stated we could drive the 40 min back there and get a refund for what we brought back. I'm not in a state to drive now due to said reaction and their response "sorry". I had a lovely dish of Japanese eggplant with fresh ginger, veggies, and tofu. We had great scallion pancakes. Actually, they were some of the best scallion pancakes I have ever had, texture wise. Or light tender and crispy. Just lovely. They could've used a tad more scallion, maybe they're catering to American tastes. We usually go here once or twice a year. Today was the absolute worst meals ever. Spicy chicken wings were slobbered with not so spicy sauce. My spicy crispy beef was bland. I only ate half and didn't bother taking the rest home. My wife's ginger curry had no ginger, very little curry and was so bad she sent it back and decided to not eat anything.
