When I went, they had watermelon and guava as the seasonal flavors, and they told me that strawberry would be coming in the next upcoming weeks. They have free samples to try if you are unsure about which flavor to get. The flavor is so fresh, and the ginger is strong and has a kick but in a good way! The person I chatted with was so nice and lovely. Not sure if she was the owner. A cup is $6 and a growler is $17.50 ($15.50 for a refill). I'm not sure why it took me so long to visit Mountain View Farmer's Market, but because of Ginger Lab, a woman owned, local business, I'll now be adding this to my weekend routine. Their ginger beer is outstanding! Truly the best I've ever had. I absolutely love the ginger's heat lingering in my mouth, and the drink has the perfect amount of sweetness to balance the spiciness. You can definitely taste the refreshing guava and pineapple flavor. It's better than Rachel's Ginger Beer in Seattle, which I find too sweet with not enough heat. I'm also kind of obsessed with their clever logo, which is the letters G and L but looks like a microscope - hence, Ginger Lab! There are no samples at the farmer's market currently, but if there had been, I would've bought a glass growler right off the bat. So, I first bought a cup, and I appreciate that no ice was added as it would dilute the flavor. After buying a growler, I've been refilling it weekly, and you get a discount for it too. You can also get refills or new growlers at their Santa Clara production kitchen and 12 ounce bottles at some restaurants and cafes in the South Bay. Absolutely delicious! So happy to have finally visited them after hearing such great things. We arrived at the Mountain View Farmer's Market a little after noon and immediately started seeking out for their stall. They are located close to the back corner of the farmer's market, if you're wondering. I literally walked around like a maze looking for them during this crazy heat wave. We tried two flavors - strawberry and original, eventually ordering two growlers (guava & strawberry) and a cup of the original (we added ice since it was so hot.) The carbonation of the ginger beer was perfect, not too little, not too much. I actually inhaled it all right away. If only there was a long straw for the growler, I'd drink out of the growler and walk back to refill. I'm excited to try out the guava flavor! Oh, and purchase the $4 tote - it's inexpensive and makes carrying the growlers (fits 2) so much easier. read more

Ever since traveling to Australia a while back, I have loved ginger beer. If I don't have at least a few bottles of Bundaberg in the fridge, I go into crisis. I love the stuff, it's great for digestion, and when we were bobbling up and down violently on a ride to a Great Barrier Reef island, it did wonders for reducing the nausea. Flash forward to the present, and I'm walking around the Mountain View farmers market, and I come across the kiosk for Ginger Lab. Locally brewed ginger beer?! This I have got to try. The line was long, with other customers holding empty bottles awaiting a refill. I bought the original flavor to get a baseline taste - they also had guava available - and took it home to try later. And wow, what a great brew! The ginger is balanced with lemon, generating a spicy kick with citrus overtones. This isn't as sweet as my trusted Bundaberg, but I still loved it nevertheless. My family and I drank it up within a day. According to the person at the table, the brew will last up to 4 weeks in the fridge, but after frequent opening and closings the carbonation will dissipate fairly rapidly, so don't expect an open growler to actually last that long. This is a pricey quaff - $16 for a new bottle, but refills are $14. But for an occasional indulgence (though for me it will be weekly), it's a real treat. read more

Ginger Lab rocks!! How come I have only recently found this amazing goodness? A friend of mine introduced me to ginger beer when I was on vacation and I was hooked. But then, after searching for different brands and trying them out, I discovered that the ginger is not as strong and if you look at the ingredients, most contain lots of sugar. But I have discovered Ginger Lab, right here locally. I am impressed!! The taste is amazing because you can taste the freshness and the ginger flavor is prominent, without so much sugar. I love anything ginger and was really happy when I found Ginger Lab on yelp. I literally just typed up the word ginger into the search bar and this place came up. From May to September, every Thursday between 4pm-6pm they are at the Los Alto Farmers' Market and every Sunday between 9am-1pm at the Mountain View Farmers' Market Their seasonal ginger beer was the mango flavor, which was too sweet for me but I would for sure like it during those warm summer days coming up. The original and guava ginger beer were delicious and had that nice spicy kick. It burns so good! The OG and Guava flavors are available all year around. I ended up leaving with 2 OG growlers ($15 each). What's cool is that if you come back with the growler you can refill it for $12. LOVE these guys and LOVE this ginger beer! I first discovered Ginger Lab at the Los Altos Farmer's Market on Thursdays (see 5th pic for this listing as proof - I'm the Asian girl who can't stop grinning at how awesome this ginger beer is). They are now at the Mountain View Farmers Market on Sundays and also at Ava's Market in downtown Mountain View on weekdays. Deb is just such a delightful proprietor and her recipe is definitely the best ginger beer I've ever had. I love that she mixes in various fruit nectars and juices to make her flavors - my favorite being the Mango. Guava is also a lovely staple and the recent Pear addition has been quite subtle and nice. I try to drink a little bit with dinner every night since it really helps cleanse the palate and also aids in digestion. The ginger is not too spicy and the balance between sour and sweet is perfect. I also LOVE to make Dark and Stormy cocktails with this ginger beer. Just add some rum and a splash of bitters over ice and you're good to go! I always keep this stocked in my fridge and have bought bottles/growlers for friends as gifts. Definitely get a bottle and then buy refills since it will save you some $$. The bottle is dishwasher safe and really sturdy glass. Deb lets everyone try the flavors before they buy so at the very least, go try some! You can pay by credit card too so yay :). read more

I love their Ginger beer! When I lived in the bay area I used to purchase it all the time! I was introduced to them by my boyfriend's parents who always go to the farmer's market to purchase. Then found out their physical shop is actually open a mile away from where I worked at the time so we were always able to get refills when we couldn't make it to the market. I recently moved to Chico California and ended up ordering from them online. But with the first delivery, there was an issue and they came in warm. BUT Deb was so understanding and nice that she reshipped me another box of what I ordered and this time they came in ice-cold! couldn't be happier! This ginger beer is definitely worth trying! If you do not yet know about Ginger Lab, you are missing out! I am not a fan of ginger, and I especially despise ginger shots. But this ginger beer is absolutely tasty! The recipe they use is simple yet delicious. Original is tart while guava is a bit sweeter, but they all have a kick to them. I know many people like to use in their cocktails, but I prefer to have a glass over ice either before or after my meals. I also like that Ginger Lab will introduce seasonal flavors into the rotation on tap like white peach, spiced apple, and blood orange. Keeps things exciting and makes it easy to keep the fridge constantly stocked with interesting ginger beers. The growler is $15, and growler refills are $12. A steal in my opinion esp considering how much people pay for ginger shots on the regular at fancy shmancy establishments. They are at the Los Altos and Mountain View Farmers' Markets weekly, and I believe you can also find their pop-up shop at Ava's in Mountain View. While I get the shakes from paying $15 for a growler of fizziness, IT IS TOTALLY WORTH IT. IT IS EVEN WORTH BRAVING THE SUNDAY MTN VIEW FARMER'S MARKET. I am obsessed with the guava ginger beer, which makes the most bombass Moscow Mule you can imagine. I love big time fizz and this is both tangy and spicy and so very very delicious. I don't like ginger, and I've never liked ginger ale, but I know there's been a major ginger beer trend lately. Rachael's in Seattle was the first I heard of it, and then I found Ginger Lab at the farmer's market. They have different seasonal flavors (guava is my favorite), and they're all good for mixing for cocktails (easy - just add vodka or bourbon). You can sample the flavors, which is nice. My pregnant friends and friends who don't drink really like it as a non alcoholic option. The ginger beer itself has a good kick / spice to it and isn't overly sweet (I hate syrupy sweet stuff).
