Great Chinese, Sushi and Hibachi.....It's a family style menu and they don't offer any combination plates, so more often than not we order Chinese takeout elsewhere. Shame they don't change that. The non Hibachi side of the restaurant is not bad, but they have a couple of old TVs hanging above that last time were playing some white trash TV show, not the best for atmosphere. read more

The restaurant was reasonably busy for a Saturday night, so I thought, "Must be good". The menu is much more Japanese than Chinese. Service and attentiveness were excellent. Other than a badly chipped dish, the presentation was also quite good. Hot and sour soup was very good. The calamari came on a dish with a paper doily, which I thought was excellent to absorb any last bit of oil from frying. Deep fried in a tempura batter, unfortunately it was overcooked and rubbery, which is what happens to overcooked calamari. I think Ginjo deserves another chance. I will be back. First visit on Halloween 2015. Went for a sushi date with my boyfriend. We are huge sushi fans and we are trying to broaden our sushi scope in the area and try new places, this place was our first new place in a while and we were not dissappointed. We were happily greeted at the door and promptly seated in a nice booth by the window, the restaurant was not busy for dine in, but various people came in and out during our visit for take out. Clearly this place is doing well. We decided on three types of rolls (Mame Nori, Walpole Maki & Angel Maki) and a little treat with some chicken fried rice. The sushi was rolled right nearby at their sushi bar where they have great seats that I would love to try sometime! Once our sushi came out I was impressed with presentation and couldn't wait to dig in! Each roll was so individually delicious and every choice we made was perfection. Then the fried rice came and again, so so so good. Not over soy sauced, perfectly seasoned. Ginjo won my sushi loving heart with simple, fast and friendly service and food that hit the spot. read more

Stopped in for lunch and decided to go w sushi. We sat in a booth near the window and there was a fly buzzing around us, not a sign of cleanliness. The shades on the window were very dusty. The bench in our booth had been repaired w duc tape. I Ordered the sushi & sashimi lunch combo. Salad was lame, all iceberg & shredded carrot w a flavorless Asian dressing. Miso soup was ok. My combo consisted of 3 pieces of tuna sashimi, 3 salmon sashimi, 2 tuna nigiri, 2 salmon nigiri, 1 imitation crab stick nigiri & 1 undetermined flavorless white fish nigiri. So aside from tuna & salmon I got exactly two pieces of something else and one of them was imitation crab. I wasn't looking for a lame salmon/tuna combo but that's what I got. She got a 2 maki combo, Cali & avocado (I know, she's timid). Was a flavorless as the rest of the meal. Definitely won't be back. read more

This is my second trip to Ginjos - - the last time was a fantastic hibatchi bid with my family. I went here tonight alone after passing on the neighborly Supreme Pizza due to a lack of pizza slices. After switching gears for chinese food, I was greeted in a friendly manner by the host. I told him I wanted to just sit at the bar and order an appetizer. He asked if I wanted the Sushi bar or the other bar and I chose the later. When you go inside, there are the hibatchi tables on the left a sushi bar up front, some tables on the right and a bar on the far right. I went to the far right and sat down and was immediately offered a drink. Blue Moon hit the spot. After perusing the menu, I decided to go for an entree the "Crispy 5 flavored Shrimp". The meal came back to me in less than 5 minutes piping hot and was unbelievable. The Shrimp were caked in a chicken-finger like batter on top of crisp broccoli. The Shrimp and sauce were outstanding and there were plenty of them although I'm not sure the deep fry was perhaps the healthiest option. I only wish there were more sides or perhaps rice with this meal. The main waiter also was not as congenial as some of the others, but all in all it was a great meal. Never thought of going here before given the location in strip mall but we had many gift certificates from a fund raiser and bought a Groupon when saw the comment here. Solid hibachi entertainment and meal. Didn't have to wait - Friday night restaurant side was busy but hibachi empty. Heat in room low but they cranked it up for us. Service was good, attentive and didn't forget us as the only family in hibachi. Kids had hibachi, adults sashimi and appetizers. Lots of laughs and smiles for kids as the meal was prepared. Decided to try Ginjo instead of ordering from the regular place. We ordered takeout. To say the food was horrible would be a compliment. By far the worst food we have ever had, Chinese or otherwise. This is a terrific restaurant -- and I'm Asian and very picky about Japanese/Chinese food restaurants and skeptical when they're combined. From the outside, you wouldn't know that the food is great but it's a hidden gem in the center of Walpole. It's in a tiny strip-mall with just a few places like a pizza joint and CVS. The Chinese is actually better than their Japanese from my opinion. The general Gau's chicken is fantastic as are the crab rangoons. Call me crazy but I actually judge a chinese restaurant on their capability to do these two items and do them well. Everything else is cake as far as I'm concerned. The sushi is average, nothing to write home about, which means you could probably have better ambience for the price-tag. Be aware that this is a FAST restaurant. You order and shockingly your food arrives within 5 minutes flat. An easy restaurant with kids and certainly one that will become my mainstay for chinese food. Nothing else compares in the area -- (and by that I mean -- the Bamboo House and other Franklin Chinese restaurants are just gross). read more

My husband and I go to Ginjo for sushi a few times a month. Paul, the sushi chef, is awesome! The fish is always fresh and Paul will create rolls not on the menu if you ask! We've never tried anything from him that we didn't like. The rest of the staff is also always welcoming and friendly. We've tried many sushi places and find its very hard to find consistently good sushi, even in Boston. This has been our go-to sushi spot for a few years now! read more

I recently took my family to this newer restaurant and I am a bit late putting in my review, but Ginjo has a way to go to get me to be a repeat customer. The place was just about empty on a Friday night, which is telling. I have eaten at many 'Americanized' Japanese restaurants over the years and this one would not hit my top 5. Besides being a bit pricey for this area, the portions served kids and adults were very skimpy. While to flavor was on par for a restaurant of this style, it was far from anything spectacular enough to want me to pay the price for the quantity and quality. The 'entertainment' (i.e. the hibachi chef) was less than enthusiastic fumbling through the lines and not doing anything new that any other less expensive place would do. I would say unless they lower their meal prices or increase their portion sizes, I won't opt to bring my family back to this restaurant again. read more

The food was mediocre however the pricing was fair portion wise. Although the restraunt provided a relaxing ambiance it didn't make up for the atrocious service. The waitresses had a brusque manner about them along with a very rude overall composure. I would highly recommend not dining here. We initially went to hibachi however they could not cater to dietary needs and refused to perform hibatuchi for one person in the group. These people are so nice and the food is always GREAT! Whether it's takeout or dine-in we always have a wonderful meal and the service is always amazing. I choose to give them a 3 based on their customer service and competence. The food is very good, however they are scam artists. Pay very close attention to your bill if you're ordering over the phone. They over charge you for everything. Specifically they over charge for all Habatchi plates, their online menu says the combo meal is $21, but they'll charge more depending on the day. The online menu also says their Habatchi dinners include fried rice for free, but then they turn around and charge you $2 more for it. This has been going on for at least a year that I've been ordering from them. Again the food is good, but they over charge. Last time they overcharged by at least $7. Once, sure no problem, twice, I get it, three times, now you're knowingly, and deliberately screwing your customers. I've called them on this, they claim their online PDF menu is out of date. It's a PDF, that takes what, 30 seconds to remove and upload a new one! Again, this has been going on for over a year now, probably more. Good food, but keep an eye on your bill because they're most likely charging you more than you're aware of!!!! read more

food for the most part is very good fresh and tasty. We were however not happy with the spareribs and ask to have them taken back and the waitress had to ask permission to do so. As for the waitress it felt that if you didnt order drinks she didnt care about you. She brought out our main meal before our appetizer , never refilled our tea or water and never came back to see if everything was good or if we needed anything. We had to call her over when she replied back to us shouting over a table "what you want" no I waited til she got in front of me to speak. She cleaned a table before getting me duck sauce. The only thing she did fast was when she saw us getting up she pushed me yes pushed me to get to the check folder even though I put my glass on it. She just couldnt wait til we left and she circled the total amount of what the bill would have been without the groupon to make sure we noticed to tip on that amount.
