Had an order delivered to us yesterday. Husband was craving spaghetti and meatballs so ordered us both that and an extra side of meatballs. Sauce had fresh tomatoes and was rather delicious. The portion size was great and it hit the spot. Husband had the extra meatballs and I would've loved to have more myself. This is ok if you want to just run of the mill Italian. First and foremost, I support businesses in my community. But I also think it's fair to understand what you're receiving. This is my first time trying Joe's and I had it delivered. For the garlic bread it's a layer of mozzarella and then under it is garlic chunks. The Alfredo sauce and the baked meatballs ziti were very bland. It's just ok Italian. Based on the reviews, I just thought it would be higher quality, even by delivery. This was a bit of a disappointing experience. I was in the area for work, and decided to try this place out. Starting with the good, the people who work here are friendly and the service is fairly prompt. That's about it, though. I went with something simple: chicken parm with spaghetti. The sauce tasted like a heavy handed and random case of seasoning. There was so much other stuff in it that you practically couldn't taste the tomato anymore. The dinner rolls they served were pretty bad. They were just frozen mini-croissants. The chicken itself was decent. It was pretty small, but it was breaded OK and the cheese at least covered the whole thing. It was cooked correctly, so that's a plus. Overall, not the absolute worst, but it definitely wasn't good. Very popular neighborhood place, mostly for takeout, with a few tables and an open kitchen. Reasonable prices, nice side salad, pleasant people. Very limited vegetarian options (no eggplant Parmesan, e.g.). I found the manicotti to be flavorless, and the garlic cheese bread appetizer to be too heavy on the cheese but not nearly heavy enough on the garlic. I was also put off by the side salads forgotten until the entrees were served. My companion overlooked these deficiencies and declared the meal to be excellent. No pictures (I was hungry). Oh my, I have had the chicken carbanera, it was delicious! I decided to try something different and ordered the lasagna. My taste buds had a party in my mouth! Layers of pasta encased with an incredibly good meat sauce makes this another favorite! Joe's Kitchen is the only restaurant that actually sends food hot with a paper plate beneath to help keep it hot. That's great customer service! Quaint and relaxed atmosphere with good Italian food. We went in evening late for dinner after sports event around 8:30 at night. It did smell like smoke from bar next door. Not sure if it always smells this way. Sodas are bottled but they serve with glass of ice. Waitress offered great customer service and was very friendly. Didn't love the Philly. It was a lot of veggies. However the cheese sticks, bread, fries and pasta were all good. We will be back to try more dishes. read more

Great spot for Italian food if you are in the burbs and don't want to drive 20 minutes to downtown! Love the homey feeling of the restaurant and everyone is so nice and all smiles! Here's what I tried: Shrimp Fra Diablo - Shrimp with spicy red wine pink sauce over linguini: A rich dense dish with lots of flavor with fresh tasting shrimp and spicy sauce. To me this is a very unique and comforting Italian meal. They gave us some complimentary garlic dinner rolls and so I dipped the bread in the sauce and it tastes amazing! Carbonara - Grilled chicken with creamy white wine sauce with chopped ham and mushrooms with linguini I was very excited for this one since I'm a sucker for white creamy pasta sauce, however this was a bit too much on the salty side for me. Much like the Shrimp Diablo dish, this is also dense and creamy but with a sharp salty flavor and I only finished halfway. I'm planning to bring this home and add some of my own ingredients to counter the salty taste a bit. The portions are great and the delicious garlic soft bread was a nice complimentary addition. They plan to make in house Tiramisu soon so I'm definitely coming back to try that and probably try something else like the Spaghetti Marinara. read more

Tried this place for the first time over the holidays as a break from cooking. Ordered pizza, a pasta sampler, and a side order of garlic bread (based on the rave reviews for the bread). Funny enough, the bread was the only thing we didn't love--no garlic flavor and nothing special. The pizza got the big thumbs up from my picky pizza connoisseurs (kids) and my husband and I really enjoyed the lasagna and pasta in the sampler. I like that the sauce had a tiny spicy zip to it. We drove by so many times (since it's close to our house); so we finally decided to give them a try, and they did not disappoint! This place will satisfy your Italian' craving FOOD: We ordered: 1. Garlic cheese bread - unfortunately it was not garlicky at all, so it's a no for me. 2. Spaghetti Meatballs- I really loved their meatballs (tender, meaty, and didn't taste like it had so much breadcrumbs/filler), and their marinara was perfect! I wish they cooked their spaghetti more al dente for to-go orders so by the time the customers get to eat the food, the noodles would be perfectly al dente (that's how I like my pasta/spaghetti). 3. Marsala - another one of my favorites! It was so creamy and delicious, but it was a bit salty for me and again I wish they did their linguine a bit more al dente because when we got to eat our food (from driving home, and unpacked everything), the noodles were a bit overcooked for my liking. I'm sure if you eat at the restaurant it would be perfect. They have fresh rolls that come with it too which were legit! UPDATE: We went to the second time and tried their: 4. Godfather pizza - it was amazing their pizza dough is light, airy with perfect chew to it which I think it's what pizza dough should be. It tasted like brick-oven pizza, and not oily! Their pizza is better than some of the hyped and famous pizza places in town to be honest. It's so underrated! YOU NEED TO TRY THEIR PIZZAS!!! (Eat them fresh so the bottom stays crispy). 5. Pasta Sampler - we asked for Al dente noodles and they were all cooked perfectly when we got home to eat! All three dishes were so good, but my first favorite was Manicotti (creamy, velvety ricotta mixture/filling was just divine), second would be Cannelloni (just meaty and loved the spinach in the filling), their lasagna was also delicious! SERVICE: The food was ready fast. The best part is you can order the food via their website online or call ahead and do a drive-thru pickup - super convenient! AMBIENCE/LOCATION: This small restaurant is hidden in a small strip located on Grand Ave Parkway. There are parking spaces in front of the restaurant and they also have a drive-thru as well (but no outside ordering at the drive thru). PRICE: The price is reasonable given the portion and the taste. VERDICT: All in all, if you're like us driving by so many times and wondering if you should check them out, do it! I haven't been to this place in awhile and I'm glad I made this choice to visit them again. Service: Unfortunately, I did not eat inside but the service was inviting when picking up a to-go order. There was no line or no wait but they seem to really cater to their customers and providing great customer service. Warning: There is not of parking area. Food: The food was excellent! I stay roughly 4 miles away from the restaurant and my food was still hot when I got home for a to-go order. It was seasoned really well and the portion size was just right. The bread was fresh and had great flavor. Overall: I'm really glad that they are still in business and wish nothing but great success in the future. I provided them with 4 stars as I wish they provided a seafood option that included fish. From my past experience, there was a problem sitting in the restaurant due to the cigarette smoke smell from the next door bar but it seem as if they was able to resolve this issue. This is a cute funky little restaurant, Bohemian chic. There's a nice variety of wine and some branded bottle teas. The food is amazing. Started with some Mozzarella Sticks (out of Fried Ravioli) they were delicious with a great cheese pull...Wife went with the pasta sampler which consisted of Lasagna, manicotti and cannelloni...all 1/2 portions...everything was a hit for the wife, including the side salad. So we found this small, out of the way, Italian kitchen, up in Pflugerville. They had pretty good ratings on yelp so excited to give it a try. Well, it turned out to be very good decision. We had the baked ziti, and fried zucchini, both of which were very, very good. The only thing weird was that when you first walk in, it smells a little bit like cigarette smoke, but once you get past that, the dining room is nice. (Its probably because it is right next to a pool hall). The dining room will seat about 30 people, with a couple of high top tables. They have a few TVs set around the dining room which is nice too. They don't have a liquor license, nor do they have a beer and wine license, but they are very open to you bringing your own for your dinner. Well, the restaurant doesn't have a lot of ambience, but the food is good. Nice service team too. So if you are around this way, and you're looking for Italian, Give Joe's a try. read more

My first time ordering from this place. Had it delivered from uber and let me tell you... I am not a fan with this location's delivery service. I ordered a lasagna, Fettuccine chicken alfredo, 3 marinaras and extra garlic bread... They decided to literally STUFF everything in one single bag.. Im talking TWO PAPER BROWN BAGS, STUFFED in a single plastic bag.. My lasagna was SQUISHED DOWN FLAT, all of the marinara poured out, and the brown bags where incredibly soggy. They used weak alluminin pans for our meals ( WHICH BTW WERE HEAVY ) & paper like aluminum lids which actually sunk inside the meal due to the amount of pressue in the bag. Food was ok, but couldn't be enjoyed due to the amount of mess that needed to be cleaned up before we could actually eat our meal. Our deliver order choices included side salads, fried zucchini, pasta sampler, and chicken piccata. The side salads were fairly basic, nothing special about them, but nothing bad. The fried zucchini was yummy, though a bit soggy from package and delivery, which is not uncommon for fried/breaded items. I could tell that if served fresh in restaurant, they'd be crispy. Likewise, the garlic rolls that came with the entrees lacked in freshness. The portion for the chicken piccata was enormous, and the dish was quite tasty! The pasta sampler portion, by comparison, was minimal, and the dish was overwhelmed by the sauce, diluting the nuances of each of the three items included in it. We order delivery from Joe's a couple times a week. We really appreciate the care that goes into packaging our orders. Our food is in metal containers which are inside insulated thick paper bags, which are thoroughly stapled shut and that are then placed in a plastic bag. Our food always arrives hot, no matter how aimlessly lost the third party food delivery driver gets. We really appreciate it. Thank you. Also, their food is delicious.
