Best Party Food! This review is much deserved and long overdue.  We have catered MANY parties from GINOS of NESCONSET over 10+ years years and every time our family and guests rave about the food.  From appetizers like rice balls (my Aunt Mary from Queens loves them) and Buffalo spring rolls (my fav) to the salads, pizza, pasta, heros and entrees your family and friends will be thrilled with the delicious food and very, very full, lol.  SO MUCH FOOD!  And the prices are great$$!  We had over 80 people, got the large package so it worked out to like $9/person.  You can't get a crappy fast food meal for that low a price these days. Our family can seriously eat and we had more than enough for the party, the AFTER party (iykyk) and leftovers today so we didn't have to cook, just sit on the couch and recover, lol! This doesn't mean there aren't other amazing places to get food.  There are!  It's just reminding people who live in Nesconset,  Smithtown,  Ronkonkoma that this small family business is right in their backyard making kick-ass food for your epic party. Order your party food from Ginos of Nesconset and ENJOY!

When considering the worst pizzeria around, Gino's in Nesconset comes to mind. On one occasion, I ordered a chicken Caesar wrap over the phone for pick-up. Any ordinary person ordering this would expect a standard chicken Caesar wrap. However, that wasn't the case here. What I got was a hot slice of pizza rolled up with three pieces of chicken, Caesar dressing, and cooked lettuce. Typically I wouldn't care about a mix up, but because of how ridiculous this was, I decided to call up and ask if they would exchange it for what I originally ordered. Upon returning it, the entire staff decided to wait at the front to insist that I was the one mistaken about what a chicken Caesar wrap entailed. Instead of just exchanging the food and letting me leave, they felt the need to treat me as if I were a complete moron for even questioning what they gave me. They maintained that this was how it's made and told me that if I ever want to order that again I'd have to specifically say "I'd like a chicken Caesar wrap on a wrap". Seriously? I've even gone ahead and added a photo so you can see how absurd this interaction was for yourself.

Cashier was attentive, Pizzeria was clean, and the pizza was great! Especially enjoyed the Pepperoni, sausage, banana peppers slice. Excellent

Dirty, gross, pizza 3/10. Spent $30 on sh**. Like HOW Attitude from lazy dude up front. Ew ew I need a shower

We order from Ginos all the time. However, this time when we ordered 2 chicken vodka slices, it's very obvious that they just threw chicken with vodka sauce on top of a grandma slice. When I called to ask, they said this is what they do when you order a chicken vodka slice. So, the description is inaccurate.

Can't believe Gino's let me down. As I stated in my previous review, I've been coming here for years, and excepted all the mistakes they've made as any business would. The food is good, and I typically have no complaints there. The reason for this updated review is straight up a customer service/managerial complaint. Went in for sit down dinner with the family and asked about an expired Groupon I purchased a while ago and how I can apply it. Anyone knows that if you have an expired Groupon, it can be used at the establishment for the amount paid for which the amount paid never expires. Gino's refused to honor Groupons terms and policy, and told me that since the Groupon is expired, they can't honor it, even the amount paid. Terrible because this should be an easy one. I bet if Joe the owner was there, he'd do the right thing and this wouldn't have been an issue. I have been coming there for years, such a shame they couldn't rectify something simple. Never had a problem with Groupon, even it the Groupon has expired. I contacted Groupon, and they issued my Groupon bucks back to my account. They stated that Gino's should have honored the amount paid. *Joe, your restaurant is fantastic, usually never a problem. Yes, I did tell the server, who then in turn let the manager know. The server took my phone to look at the Groupon, but still told me I couldn't redeem it for the value paid. I was offered a discount on the bill, but unfortunately didn't cover the amount for the Groupon. I wish I could say there was miscommunication, or some oversight, but I did show your staff the terms and service, and all that I had paid for with the Groupon. Again, to anyone reading the reviews, Gino's is a great local pizza place, and I'll continue going there regardless. Please educate the staff.

Upon entering we were warmly welcomed. While we decided on what we would be having, we were given complimentary fried zucchini strips & bread. The wait staff is very attentive. Having never been here but using Yelp as my foodie guide, with its high star rating, I somehow missed that this establishment is prixe fixed so you cannot order a La carte anything. I honestly wish I had read more reviews instead of focusing on just the high-star rating. Anyway, the prize fixed menu includes appetizer, main entree, dessert and coffee for $38.95 with up charges for specific items that are clearly marked. Of course, both myself and my hubby chose entrees (veal parmigiana and meat lasagna) with a $5.95 up charge for each. On this Friday night, there was live music. It was very fitting for this Italian restaurant with its cozy Italian bistro/cafe atmosphere. It made it feel like date night. Hearing the music in the background was very enjoyable. Now the food, which came out in a nice even pace so we were not rushed. The appetizers of baked clams and eggplant rollatine were good. My veal parmigiana was absolutely delicious and prepared perfectly. My hubby's meat lasagna was good but in comparison to my dish it missed the mark. The desserts & coffee were fine, but certainly nothing overly special. I'm the person who looks at dessert first because I look forward to that extra special thing at the end of the meal. Overall a nice dinner out with my hubby.

Service - 4/5 - friendly and attentive. Ambiance - 3/5 - nice vibe with open fire, slightly tacky and dark. Overall - 4/5 - this is one of those places that is worth visiting once then probably not again. Everything was good but for the price you can get equally as good food at a budget. Food was really good, particularly the Wild Boar Gnocchi Ragu & Pistachio Cake, both easily worth a try. Service was great as well. Friendly, attentive, some conversation there, was good service. Ambiance was a mixed bag. While the indoors is really nice with a cool open flame, it can be dark inside and a little tacky (easy 4 if it wasn't as dark). Definitely worth a visit at one point but not as a regular spot. Best Dish - Wild Boar Ragu Gnocchi, Pistachio Cake Would Return - Probably not

Mixed feelings. So…read moremany friends have spoken so highly of this place that I felt we HAD to give it a try. They also cautioned about the price so, after selling off an inherited Monet, off we went! Umbra is in a nondescript strip mall with a Thai place next door. Dark, front-facing windows give it a chic look but... oh no... fake flowers. Normally, not a big deal but for a place known for being upscale, it seemed incongruous for the vibe. More on that later. Inside was cool and urban chic. Long bar gives view of their famous oven. Seating was comfortable enough though the artificial flowers and grapes (circa 1984 Patchogue's Fantasy Gardens) detracted. I get that they're trying to do an Italian countryside thing but it seemed forced. The food was a mixed bag. Wagyu tartar with quail egg was pretty awesome; rich, minerally, unctuous. So far so good. Cocktail was tasty and the wine was fine. But then... Wife got a pasta dish that she was happy with. She found it to be very good but not exemplary. I ordered the veal osso buco which was a tremendous disappointment. The bed of risotto was terrific but it seemed like they simply placed several (small) medallions of veal in the middle surrounding a tiny bone and then dropped sauce all over it. I'm a grown man and have faced all sorts of disappointments in my life (being an Islanders fan conditions you to this) but I kinda wanted to cry when that came to the table. I've had osso buco other places and this plate fell well short. (I actually was arguing with a friend who is a tremendous fan of Umbra and, when I showed him the pic, he fell silent. I included pics of two other osso bucos for comparison). Friends had mentioned that the steaks are really good here but I kinda go to steak joints for steaks, ya dig? They make their own pasta so maybe I should have chosen one of those dishes. Affogato for dessert which was less than what I was expecting but is (according to friend in the know) the classic and traditional preparation so no real complaints there. The service was very good, however. Both our waitress and the bartender/sommelier were attentive, friendly and well-informed. All-in-all, a nice place. A VERY nice place. But I think it's a tad overpriced and overhyped for what it is. We usually like to give a spot a second or third try but at the price point, probably not. Give it a shot if you've got money to burn but be aware of the cost and that some things may fall short of your expectations.

It was early, we had a 5pm reservation and the restaurant was pretty quiet. My friends arrived a few minutes later and we were seated immediately also in the bar area as was requested. Our waitress came over to ask about drinks then the busboy arrived with warm garlic knots and focaccia, both were very good. We ordered the gluten free fried zucchini, which I have to say I liked better then most other versions I've had. It seems they have an extensive menu of gluten free options which my friend appreciated very much. I got the Pollo Florendena which is two large chicken cutlets breaded and fried with spinach & mozzarella in a brown gravy served with vegg (string beans) and a small potato croquette. The chicken was tender, the gravy tasty and the beans not over cooked. The potato was meh. I took home most of my dinner. One friend ordered the Tortellini Aligherieri but substituted GF pasta, she enjoyed it very much. The other person ordered Vitello Saltimbocca which is veal with prosciutto, eggplant and mozz in a marsala sauce. It usually comes with veg & pot but she substituted penna in a garlic oil sauce which was very good. We had no room for dessert but there were many selections and one day I'll try. All in all a very nice meal, the restaurant has no issue making substitution, the portions are very large and prices were reasonable. The place was packed when we left at around 6:30 and I can understand why.

Papparadella with pesto and fresh mozz & rigatoni bolognese. Flavorful sauces! - Forresta pizza crust was so perfectly thin & crispy and the prosciutto was shaved thin and cooked crispy. Great combo with the arugula - sadly they were out of the tiramasu and sorbet so we tried a cannoli and it was very large filled with rich creamy ricotta and chocolate chips - thanks to a fellow yelper find...they have Mexican Coke! Recently, I decided to give it another shot on two separate times, and some of their specialty pies: the vodka pizza with a garlic knot crust and the trio pizza (pesto, marinara, and vodka). I'll start with the positives--service was friendly and welcoming, which definitely made the experience more pleasant. And to be fair, the flavors across the pies were actually pretty good. The sauces complemented each other well. That said, the biggest issue--was the dough. It was noticeably undercooked which made the slices a bit doughy and hard to enjoy. On top of that, the pizza was quite greasy, which didn't help the overall texture. The undercooked dough stood out enough that it took away from what could have been a really solid pie. Another small note: the dining area looked like it could've used a quick sweep. Not a huge deal, but something that affects the overall impression when you walk in. I wouldn't completely write this place off, because the flavors are there and the staff is friendly. If I give it another try, I'd probably stick with a regular pie or maybe a Sicilian and specifically ask for it to be cooked well done. I think that could make a big difference.
