We gave Satelite a try for dinner this evening, it's a 30 minute ride for us but our friend wanted us to try it. First the restaurant dinning area is set real nice and they have a very nice little bar area if you don't want to eat in the restaurant area. Our food was delicious and plenty of food. Everything we had was very good, we all had chicken dishes and eggplant dishes. Everyone was full and we all had take home bags. We decided on a whim to come here, thinking, how bad could it be? Upon entering, the place seemed oddly empty. The weird thing is that they have an area with specialty pizzas setup behind where the staff are standing so you can't even see the pizza you are buying up-close. So, we took the risk. The slices were served hot, but it ends there. The chicken francese slice was so terrible. It was like a glob of chicken substances with heavy cream sauce under a cheese of some sort, which tasted nothing like real francese sauce. It was like eating flavorless creamy boiled chicken and cheese. A couple bites, and I threw the rest in the trash with what I wanted to be a slam dunk. Times like these I choose to forget. The other slice was nothing worth mentioning. Edible maybe, but nothing special. Such a disappointment. My wife and I recently tried Satellite Pizza since our favorite pizza shop was closed for the evening. What a mistake . This establishment has a cavernous dining area, which was completely empty. They also have a "bar" which looks unused. Should have been a hint for a Saturday night at 8 o'clock. I ordered a meatball hero . What I received was tasteless chop meat formed into a ball. Then placed in an overly toasted hard as a rock hero topped with tasteless commercial tomato sauce. It was completely inedible, and I threw it in the garbage My wife ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken. To be fair she said it was pretty good. However , one would need a magnifying glass to locate the chicken. To top it off, I was charged $52 for this horrendous garbage. I am far from frugal as evidenced in my many other reviews. However, the price they are charging in this establishment is completely out of line with other similar establishments in the area. Top it off with the terrible quality of the food and you have a complete waste of time and money. One and done Stay away at all cost. Upon entering we asked for a menu as we were deciding whether we were going to sit in the dining room or the pizza seating area. The girl behind the counter very rudely pointed behind us and said "there's a brown menu behind you. Just make sure you don't take it because that is the only menu we have" As it turns out, the menu she was referring to was not there and they had to look for it. Once it was found, we decided on 6 garlic knots, a large pie half plain half black olive, and a salad. According to the girl behind the counter the salad was romaine lettuce, peppers, mozzarella cheese, olives onions, tomatoes. The salad we received was iceberg lettuce with 6 olives, 3 peppers, and mozzarella cheese. ($16 for this salad by the way) Not to mention the garlic knots, and pizza came out and we still had no salad. The only reason we got the salad was because we had to ask for it. The entire pie was burnt on the bottom. This would be expected if we asked for it well done, but that is not how it was ordered. As someone in our party doesn't care for burnt pizza, we went up to try to order something else. Upon viewing every other option from Sicilian to the specialty slices, everything had a dark brown crust or edge that clearly showed if it wasn't already burnt, it would have been after it was put back in the oven to heat. Considering all of the other places to eat in the area, especially pizza places, you would think they would try to do better. I should have realized when the business owner only responds to the positive reviews, that they don't care about their customers. If you want to be treated poorly by the staff and have your dinner burnt to a crisp, then this is the place for you. If not, drive a mile or two down the road and you will find many other options that will be better both with their staff and their food. read more

Consistently amazing pizza, REAL DEEP FRIED CALZONES, baked dinners such as ziti, lasagna, and ravioli, and don't forget the famous Special Toasted Sub! Most of the staff has been there for years, and they consistently give great service. Make sure to ask for Marcus when you're there, and tell them I sent ya! I've been faithful to the pizzeria until I found something in my food which was very disappointing and decided to try satelite after countless reviews/ recommendations from locals. Unfortunately to my dismay my pizza was insanely burnt. It was a half pepperoni and half sausage with olives and I could not get the burnt taste out of my mouth. I had ordered an Alfredo rigatoni pasta... Well I wanted to treat myself on my birthday after my exams and decided to get food from Satellite as my favorite food was pasta .... Well I paid $30 including tips and waited for almost 30 min ,later added 10min as they were preparing the sauce...that's not an issue ... later the sauce I got was melted unsalted butter!! Flavorless sauce (aka unsalted butter) and the pasta wasn't even fully cooked... My fate to go to this f***ing place and ruin my bday... Felt like was served invisible poison and threw the shit out! Marcus, is the owner, but since the upgrade to his business, for some reason the pizzas have no taste. They may be stretching the sauce a little too much. I liked the taste of the sauce and the mozzarella but that's no longer the case. Now you're just basically getting a cheese pizza with bland tomato sauce. What a treat Satelite is. It has become our "go-to" restaurant for really good Italian food all served by a great staff and overseen by an owner who makes sure everything is just right. Highly recommend anything on their menu, with friends that we've taken wanting to know when we're going back. The renovations have made the dining room an absolutely perfect environment for enjoying the food that pops out of the kitchen from chefs who definitely know what they're doing. Every dish we've ordered has been exceptional and they're willing to make almost anything requested with a smile. We both grew up in Italian households and my wife Joy is an excellent cook, but the food the chefs send to the tables even has Joy shaking her head about how good everything is. All I can say is WOW, and if you haven't gone already, make plans to go and enjoy exactly what you want in a local Italian restaurant. Great food, great service in a very comfortable environment. Very reasonable pricing as well with pasta nights and 3-course dinner nights that are worth every penny. We just celebrated Joys Birthday at Satelite and perfect is an understatement. A dish of Cauliflower Oreganata was something we never had before and was incredibly delicious, next time over fresh pasta and I'll be in heaven! Stopped in yesterday for the first time ever -The place is really nice looks like its new or recently renovated. Staff was very friendly & patient with me , the enormous selection of pizza is impressively overwhelming for a first timer. I had ordered the buffalo pizza slice & the Nona slice on the recommendation of the Pizza chef. The buffalo chicken slice was delicious and loaded with so much buffalo style chicken ( no skimping here ) .The Nona slice was great when reheated at home. My family has been coming here for takeout for decades. Tonight I had the pleasure of finally dining in their new dining room and it was outstanding. The service was great, the food was fantastic, and the portions were large. We all took home leftovers. Satelite Pizza has been open for around 44 years at the time of this writing, and you don't stay open that long without doing something right. Although I used to frequent this place a little more often right after the turn of millennium, recently on a ride back from Montauk I stopped in for some memories, and some bomb-ass deep dish pizza slices. Walking in the place is unchanged from what I recall. There were a couple of customers waiting for their orders as they make familiar chit chat with the counter people - from that vibe, and past experience, I get the sense that Satelite is part of the community and the regulars love them. Although I took my pizza to go, when I did have it for dinner later it was easy for me to remember why. For me, the deep dishes slices are always the thing to get. Not a heavy, plodding Chicago style deep dish rather these slices are more akin to thick, stuffed, well made sicilian slices (yet, triangle shaped). The bottom is crispy with pillowy dough on top where whatever toppings you order (chicken parm, eggplant parm, etc..) all incorporate and come together nicely. In a sense they are lighter and airier than Chicago style, but oh so filling. Any of the parm slices (eggplant, chicken, shrimp) are great. I also enjoy the mushroom and onion. There are many styles so you are sure to find something you like. Here's a tip (for pizza in general): Heat your slice in a pan on your stove top so it makes the bottom crisper. You can heat a thin slice all the way through this way, but for the deep dish from here I find a couple of min in a toaster oven then finish in the pan makes it taste like it just came from a pizza oven! read more

Was working a job over in Blue Point and the client ordered two pizzas from Satellite Pizza for our lunch break, and I'm no Barstool El Presidente, but I know a good slice when I have one. This slice comes in as a little below average for me, and it depends on how you like your pizza. This pepperoni pie was SOAKED in oil, way too much, like drowning in it. However, the amount of Peoperonis on the pie is ample, no shorting on the pepperonis here, that's a good thing. The cheese didn't really have any flavor or pop, it was pretty bland. The flop, was big time. The foldability of the slice was needed for it, and it didn't have an issue there. Crust and bread also were not that special, so overall the pie, to me, when it comes to all the pies in NY and Long Island, rings in at 3 stars. read more
