Decided to stop by after reading a bunch of really good reviews in Yelp, so glad we trusted it because everything was amazing. This is a small strip mall restaurant, walked in at 5 and the place was empty, however the staff was amazing, we had questions due to dietary restrictions and our waitress was very gracious and of she didn't have an answer she went back to the kitchen to check. She recommended the rice balls and they were so good, really hot inside and not hard at all, filled with lots of mozzarella and a delicious vodka sauce and dollop of ricotta. The baked cod special was super tasty and came with some mussels on the side, bread basket was perfect and bread was super nice and warm. Fettuccini was delicious and creamy but not fatty or greasy. We had a wonderful dinner experience and will definitely recommend this restaurant to another looking for good food and great service.

Really enjoyed their desserts! Service was good. Restaurant itself is small and unassuming but the food was pretty good.

Went here on a whim tonight and was pleasantly impressed. Service was outstanding and the food was absolutely delicious. Saving them for future nights out. Waitress was very nice and attentive. This is a plus since we're vegetarian.

The chef whipped up something special just for myself, since I am allergic to dairy. I truly appreciated it. Compliments fully to the chef &the wonderful staff here! Delicious & fresh!

I made a reservation at Il Trio simply based on the yelp reviews. We had a very large party, 12 girls from a softball team and 4 adults. It couldn't have been a better place to land. The service was warm, friendly and attentive. They never seemed annoyed at our boisterous crew, in fact, just the opposite. We felt so welcome. The chef even gave the table complimentary arancini appetizers. The girls were thrilled! It was delicious and probably something most of them have never eaten before. And let me just say, the food was incredible and so much of it! You will not go away hungry from Il Trio, that is for sure! This felt like an old school Italian restaurant, like eating in Nana's kitchen. Everyone left full and happy. If I were ever back in the area, I would certainly go again. Thank you such a great experience for our girls from upstate NY.

Upon entering we were warmly welcomed. While we decided on what we would be having, we were given complimentary fried zucchini strips & bread. The wait staff is very attentive. Having never been here but using Yelp as my foodie guide, with its high star rating, I somehow missed that this establishment is prixe fixed so you cannot order a La carte anything. I honestly wish I had read more reviews instead of focusing on just the high-star rating. Anyway, the prize fixed menu includes appetizer, main entree, dessert and coffee for $38.95 with up charges for specific items that are clearly marked. Of course, both myself and my hubby chose entrees (veal parmigiana and meat lasagna) with a $5.95 up charge for each. On this Friday night, there was live music. It was very fitting for this Italian restaurant with its cozy Italian bistro/cafe atmosphere. It made it feel like date night. Hearing the music in the background was very enjoyable. Now the food, which came out in a nice even pace so we were not rushed. The appetizers of baked clams and eggplant rollatine were good. My veal parmigiana was absolutely delicious and prepared perfectly. My hubby's meat lasagna was good but in comparison to my dish it missed the mark. The desserts & coffee were fine, but certainly nothing overly special. I'm the person who looks at dessert first because I look forward to that extra special thing at the end of the meal. Overall a nice dinner out with my hubby.

It was a surprise party for 15 people (his absolute favorite restaurant), and the entire night exceeded every expectation we had. The level of service we received was nothing short of incredible. Our main server, John, was absolutely out of this world. Not only was he attentive and on top of everything all night long, but he also took the time to share background and knowledge about the restaurant and each dish we were enjoying. That combination of service, passion, and education made the entire experience feel so elevated and special. Anything we needed, he was there immediately--he truly made us feel taken care of the entire evening. His assistant, Charles, was just as amazing--so attentive, kind, and dedicated to making sure we had the best possible time. And the food... absolutely phenomenal. Huge credit to Chef Marco--there are honestly no words. We opted for a family-style setup with multiple appetizers, salads, entrées, and desserts. I was a little skeptical at first, but it ended up being the BEST decision. We got to try so many different dishes--way more than you normally would--and there was not a single thing I didn't love. Every bite was incredible. Between the outstanding service, the amazing food, and the overall experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. If you go, definitely request John--you will not regret it!

Service - 4/5 - friendly and attentive. Ambiance - 3/5 - nice vibe with open fire, slightly tacky and dark. Overall - 4/5 - this is one of those places that is worth visiting once then probably not again. Everything was good but for the price you can get equally as good food at a budget. Food was really good, particularly the Wild Boar Gnocchi Ragu & Pistachio Cake, both easily worth a try. Service was great as well. Friendly, attentive, some conversation there, was good service. Ambiance was a mixed bag. While the indoors is really nice with a cool open flame, it can be dark inside and a little tacky (easy 4 if it wasn't as dark). Definitely worth a visit at one point but not as a regular spot. Best Dish - Wild Boar Ragu Gnocchi, Pistachio Cake Would Return - Probably not

It was early, we had a 5pm reservation and the restaurant was pretty quiet. My friends arrived a few minutes later and we were seated immediately also in the bar area as was requested. Our waitress came over to ask about drinks then the busboy arrived with warm garlic knots and focaccia, both were very good. We ordered the gluten free fried zucchini, which I have to say I liked better then most other versions I've had. It seems they have an extensive menu of gluten free options which my friend appreciated very much. I got the Pollo Florendena which is two large chicken cutlets breaded and fried with spinach & mozzarella in a brown gravy served with vegg (string beans) and a small potato croquette. The chicken was tender, the gravy tasty and the beans not over cooked. The potato was meh. I took home most of my dinner. One friend ordered the Tortellini Aligherieri but substituted GF pasta, she enjoyed it very much. The other person ordered Vitello Saltimbocca which is veal with prosciutto, eggplant and mozz in a marsala sauce. It usually comes with veg & pot but she substituted penna in a garlic oil sauce which was very good. We had no room for dessert but there were many selections and one day I'll try. All in all a very nice meal, the restaurant has no issue making substitution, the portions are very large and prices were reasonable. The place was packed when we left at around 6:30 and I can understand why.

If you think you only need 6...you are wrong. You need 12, I'm serious! Such warm, crusty, garlicky goodness, they were gone in 60 seconds and we had to order more. - Caprese salad had perfectly ripe yellow and red tomato with a seriously gigantic ball of buffalo mozz - Caesar salad was a little too heavy on the dressing - fresh pasta so good! Papparadella with pesto and fresh mozz & rigatoni bolognese. Flavorful sauces! - Forresta pizza crust was so perfectly thin & crispy and the prosciutto was shaved thin and cooked crispy. Great combo with the arugula - sadly they were out of the tiramasu and sorbet so we tried a cannoli and it was very large filled with rich creamy ricotta and chocolate chips - thanks to a fellow yelper find...they have Mexican Coke! Recently, I decided to give it another shot on two separate times, and some of their specialty pies: the vodka pizza with a garlic knot crust and the trio pizza (pesto, marinara, and vodka). I'll start with the positives--service was friendly and welcoming, which definitely made the experience more pleasant. And to be fair, the flavors across the pies were actually pretty good. The sauces complemented each other well. That said, the biggest issue--was the dough. It was noticeably undercooked which made the slices a bit doughy and hard to enjoy. On top of that, the pizza was quite greasy, which didn't help the overall texture. The undercooked dough stood out enough that it took away from what could have been a really solid pie. Another small note: the dining area looked like it could've used a quick sweep. Not a huge deal, but something that affects the overall impression when you walk in. I wouldn't completely write this place off, because the flavors are there and the staff is friendly. If I give it another try, I'd probably stick with a regular pie or maybe a Sicilian and specifically ask for it to be cooked well done. I think that could make a big difference.

*Restaurant Week Review, April 2025…read more There are lots of choices when it comes to Restaurant Week on Long Island. I like to go out east to one of the Long Island mansions and dine like a baron. More quail sire? Yes please and thank you. Pietro Cucina Italiana has been coming up on my social media feed. I see the chef owner saying he makes the best linguini with clams. My favorite dish?? My niece is flying into Islip airport so I have to eat and book out. We pass by Pietro Cucina Italiana daily on our way to work. My wife on Friday left her job and headed straight to the restaurant. I'm at the small patio bar drinking a great glass of Italian wine. My in laws show up and we're all seated by 6pm. The restaurant week menu has many excellent Italian dishes. Everything except Linguini with clams. Not a problem, I'll have to come back. I started with the first offering on the restaurant week menu, the Lamb Meatballs. We all agreed, the lamb meatballs were on point. Perfectly seasoned swimming in tomato sauce and topped with shaved pecorino cheese. I wanted to try something different so I ordered the homemade lasagna. I don't remember the last time I had lasagna, so why not try something made by an Italian chef? The bechamel sauce is something I'm not used to but the layers of flavors make this an instant hit. Homemade pasta and cheeses are something a nonna isn't making. This is an elevated chef'd up dish, I loved it. Dessert? I chose the apple strudel. I wasn't a fan, it tasted like a dessert from Costco. Fantastic Italian wines and homemade pasta, Pietro Cucina Italiana is a excellent choice for dining on the North Shore.
