Gino is one of my favourite lunch places. Being a family run restaurant, it has no flashy exterior or ambience. I have tried their pizzas, souvlaki, pasta, calamari, burgers, fries, soups and wraps. (No, I have not tried everything on the menu). I would highly recommend the Kalamari and Crispy Chicken Club. My favourite dish to order must be the soup and wrap combo for $8. (see picture). Minor complaint: no substitutions are allowed on the Greek dishes. For those with allergies, this is a deterrent. Mind you, you can't beat a price of $11.99 on Thursdays for the Greek dinners. We had the spinach pie, meat ravioli and meat lasagna. I would put all the items on a 4/5 scale on the quality spectrum. You won't be blown away by anything here, but the portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. Service is attentive, and it was refreshing to see the servers acknowledging the regular customers -- of which I'm sure there are a lot. I ordered a pizza a while back and they told me it would be 30-40 minutes , well I phoned back after about 1 hour , and they said it would be half an hour . After waiting I phoned and nobody picked up the phone so I waited some more and then phoned again , and then I assume the boss picked up , and I enquired about the pizza I ordered and jerk said that I didn't order a pizza and I assume this was because on previous orders I ordered a Gino Special and I wanted it extra well done as I want the pizza crust cooked and not half raw . They must of known this was me because every time I ordered I tell them I want it cooked ,because when the pizza comes I can almost roll it up and eat because the crust isn't cooked. I also asked if they had thin crust , and they don't after saying the pizza dough is made right there, make me a thin crust pizza and that was just impossible read more

I've been to Gino's a few times now. Seated inside and also take out orders. The servers are always extremely friendly with big smiles. I have never waited long to be helped. My dad was very hungry but he is also an extremely picky eater. He ordered the barbecue chicken with spaghetti on the side. He ate every last bite of his food while insisting I at least try a taste of the sauce they used. I will definitely be coming here more frequently and bragging to others about the spot. It has a nice homey feeling seeing as it isn't one of the traditional chain restaurants. It almost has a sense of community to it which makes me want to support this restaurant even more! read more

I experienced my first meal here tonight and it started out very unfortunately. I arrived 10 minutes before my party and politely said so to the hostess/waitress...the restaurant was pretty much empty, she didn't greet me but scowled at me and my coffee and barked "you can't bring outside drinks in here"....it was pouring rain so I responded "I guess I'll go wait in the rain then"....which I did for 10 minutes. When my party arrived this very employee was the one to serve us. She didn't acknowledge me (nor did I her because I was still seething about our earlier encounter) and she continually acted annoyed at our party and any question or request we made. To top it off, another male member in our party walked right in with a coffee and she did not say a thing. The food was fine but I didn't enjoy my evening at all thanks to her. Holy crap, I love Gino's!!!!! Food, price, convenience all A+. I just started going there about a month or two ago and I've been living in the area for 6 years now. This place doesn't look that appealing from the outside to be frank, but the food is great! It exceeded my expectations. Go there before 3pm for their lunch menu, because most things range around $9-$16 dollars? The sandwich and burgers are mostly around $8-$10. Apples for happy hour are also $5.99 which isn't that bad. Calamari is my favourite. The meal portion sizes are big and always filling... I can never finish my meal. Considering that I've only gone there for lunch, service has always been good. Many senior services in the New West area go to Gino's too, I appreciate that the elders in our community enjoy this place. One note: washrooms could be cleaner and updated, otherwise Gino's is a awesome spot. I can't wait to try more items on the menu. Glad to say that I am a regular customer now! read more

Gino's restaurant in New Westminster's Sapperton's district, is one of the city's best kept secrets. The restaurant is owned by the Glavas family and you can always count on meeting one or two of the family members at the restaurant working away anytime, day or evening. Tuesday evenings are the BEST - they are "Pasta Night" where any of the pasta dishes offered are priced at just $7.75 with the one exception (I believe) being the cannelloni. Thursday evenings are "Greek Night" ... again any of the Greek dishes offered on menu are all $10.95 per dish. You can't beat it. The quality is 10/10 - fresh as can be right out of the kitchen ... the staff are friendly and attentive and I have never experienced poor service ever, any of the times I have eaten there - which is often. Game Nights, ie: when hockey, football or soccer games are available via tv. Gino's has a no. of small screen tv's in each corner and one large screen in the centre of the room. I enjoyed a great evening there tonight watching the SuperBowl on the large screen, while enjoying a fabulous (large, might I add) order of Lasagna ... If you haven't been to Gino's yet - you MUST go! You will not be disappointed. read more

If I'm in the mood for chicken souvlaki, or my mom is in the mood for lamb (anything) this is where we have been going for 30 + years! We come here for family celebrations or just for good food! It is consistently good, which is why I give it 5 stars. It's nothing fancy, comfortable home style seating, generous portions, friendly waitresses (they could have one or two more, but we're used to the wait now). When you're ready for the bill, I suggest to ask for it or go up to the til. They aren't in a hurry to get you out, so likewise they aren't prompt at giving you the bill (which is actually nice if you think about it). I have yet to have a complaint about the food here. I probably eat here 8 times a year x 30 years = 240 times. read more

Worst pizza ever. So disappointing. I came here because I live in the area. I have come here a few times and find they have a very good lunch menu. The sandwiches/ burgers/ Greek food are all well worth a try. After seeing so many pizza reviews I thought to give them a try. BIG MISTAKE. The pizza was literally half an inch thick of some much random goopy cheese mixture with oil puddling in every nook and cranny. The pizza was so weighted down by this nasty cheese we didn't even end up finishing off our slices. We have never thrown pizza out before but this went straight in the garbage. read more

Had Prime Rib at Gino's last night and it was super and for the price you can't go wrong. Cooked to perfection with baked potato and vegetables. Salad was crisp and the house dressing was superb. I have to admit each time I visit Gino's I cave and get the Calamari as an appetizer. It is the best Calamari I have ever had and I have tried many different Calamari over the years and this is by far hands down the best Calamari anywhere. I think many bars and restaurants use the frozen Calamari but at Gino's you know it's fresh and the Tzatziki served with it is awesome. I have actually ordered twice in one sitting. I can't help it. Very friendly attentive staff. Prices are very decent and they're always having specials. The menu is overwhelming 'cause there is a lot of stuff listed....I mean a lot. As for the food quality it's decent, nothing to write home about but good enough if you just want fuel. It has a lot of space, family run and inviting for everyone. It has that diner charm feel with food that isn't. Portions are decently sized. My only complaint is that they could do a lot more in the seasoning department. read more

We attended a party at Gino's on Saturday December 7,2019 and we were a large party. If I could give - 5 stars I would based on the service. The food was good HOWEVER the blonde server we had was by far the rudest classless server I have ever been served by or come across. I am not sure if she is the owner or not but if she is she is doing a good job of killing the business based on her horrible behavior. Everything was an effort right down for asking for extra cutlery. We asked for a drink and we were told the blender was broken but we asked another server and were told the blender was working. The server was just being lazy but we did not ask again asked ass she may have ripped our face off. None of us will ever step food in Gino's again EVER!!!!!! read more

I love coming here. This time the occasion was a birthday that we were celebrating. It is one of the few places that I find is always accommodating with reservations. Service is always polite and efficient. Entrees ordered were honey mustard chicken wrap, calamari entree, seafood sandwich with Asiago bisque, and lamb entree. Tonight was my first time at Gino's. They had a big party going on inside so we sat on the patio. Which was great because it was a beautiful night. Terrible service. First, they ran out of garlic bread that was supposed to go with our pasta. They gave us pita bread instead which was not the same. They got both my girlfriends' drink order wrong and her meal order wrong. The server then claimed that that was what she ordered. I also got burned by the sizzling hot pan that my baked spaghetti was in. I received no warning that the dish was hot, and now there is a blister on my arm. My girlfriend also burnt her tongue after getting no warning that her (now 10mins late) new dish was burning hot. I am not sure if this was the norm for service, or we just had a really bad experience.. But it receives 2 stars because the food wasn't bad, although it wasn't anything special. read more

Used Yelp to find this restaurant on our family vacation. Had been on the road between Seattle and Vancouver for 7 days and were pretty tired of eating out. Family agreed it was time to try Greek food. Headed to Gino's primarily because a fellow Yelper mentioned the restaurant made its own hummus. They did and it was excellent! The entire meal was awesome. Some of the best Greek food I have ever had! Our waitress was great, the food came out of the kitchen quickly, hot and yummy! It was late on a Saturday night so we didn't want to big out. A family of four adults shared the calamari, hummus and the Greek Meal for two. Plenty of food and ALL of it was fantastic. The only disappointing thing was we don't live in the New Westminister area so its unlikely we will be back. Sure hope the locals support this place because the Greek food is the real deal! read more

Good food. Go here often for the 8$ baked pastawhich is good... Also had the greek souvlaki with rice pilaf potatos and a nice little greek salad on another occasion. The only issue i had was with the greek salad. Had some green pieces of tomato. Not really nice to eat but oh well i can live with it as i was hungry anyways. The chicken cesar salad is meh but its better then the salad in a box so i dont complain lol. The prices are abit high. So I try to go for the pasta nights as its fairly cheap and good and plentiful. The good news is that its a 5 minute walk from home. Overall its decent if you dont feel like going far for dinner and dont mind paying a few extra dollars. read more

Have been going to Gino's for their Thursday Lamb Special/Happy Hour for a little over a year and really like it's laid back atmosphere and great service. Yesterday I tried their Pizza..:)...!!! The crust is crunchy without being dry and the balance of sauce to cheese and toppings is perfect (for my tastes) I ordered a small and was surprised...it's closer to a medium :) I think the price is a bit higher than what the local cardboard-like chains charge but Gino's Pizza is sooooo worth it! read more

My family has been coming here since it opened (I'm not that old but I've heard the stories), so my opinion may be a bit biased. It' s the only place we go to for family dinners (heck my Aunt and Uncle drive from Chilliwack for the occasion). We lived through the change of ownership and although we miss the original owner, the new ones have definitely made some much appreciated renovations. I stick to the classics, chicken souvlaki, chicken tenders, Greek salad, hummus and pita... used to love indulging in their JD (as in Jack Daniels) ribs, but that sadly has been removed from the menu... and have yet to be disappointed. A couple of times the chicken tenders was missing the honey mustard sauce, but for all the times I've ordered from them I know it's just an over sight and not a regular occurrence . They are always ready to have a colouring sheet and crayons for little ones, which is much appreciated. I always find the staff pleasant and accommodating, but as I said earlier I've been going there all my life so they know be by name now. Parking in Sapperton is a nightmare a lot of the time, but that's hardly the restaurant's fault, it's an epidemic in the City that just seems to be getting worse especially in this neighbouhood. However, the City has put in a "gravel lot" in the alley off Cedar and usually it's a good place to find parking (if it hasn't been taken up by hospital workers). read more
