Came here for a birthday dinner on a Sunday and called ahead to make a reservation so there was no wait. The restaurant is very small, a few tables and a back room that had a traditional Japanese seating. They have their own small parking lot too right in front. The service was okay. After we got our order it was kind of hard to get someone's attention. Getting the check and paying took a long time. I thought the food was good. The seared salmon was my favorite and they don't put a lot of rice so you can eat lots of it. I kind of liked the ramen it just took a few sips to get used to it and it comes in a big bowl too!! The yaki (not pictured) I misread for soup but it was a sautéed dish and it was also good since I like udon noodles and comes in a huge plate too. So the servings are very big for the entrees and soups. I didn't get to try a lot of the sushi due to most of it having an avocado allergy but had mixed reviews at the table. A complete hidden gem of a spot! They have designated parking spaces for their restaurant customers which is genuinely one of the nicest things since parking in downtown Bellevue can be rough. We came for lunch on a weekday and it wasn't too busy but there were still a decent number of people inside. We each got the sushi combo which came with 9 pieces of nigiri, and a roll. We chose to upgrade the tuna roll to negitoro, which was completely worth it - it was so buttery and delicious. The set itself was super generous in portion size, and each piece of fish tasted so fresh! I loved the toro piece so much. We also got the pumpkin fried rice to share since it was highly recommended, and WOW that did not disappoint either. It was packed with pumpkin and had a good wok hei aroma. Definitely worth it. Ginza is a TRUE GEM! It's been around for a while, not sure how long. The outside has an old exterior but inside feels like home. It is small but the experienced waitresses and chefs make some of the best Japanese food I've experienced! My sister who was visiting has been here a few years back and has raved about their Japanese bbq. (Sadly, it is not being offered as of June 2025... it could be due to the rising prices and inflation or the amount of labor and cleaning... who knows, I only heard it was not being offered and not sure why...) Their menu is versatile and reasonably priced. From tofu with a thousand year old eggs, to basic and premium sushi rolls and sukiyaki/ teriyaki. Servers were all super nice and attentive. Ambiance inside is cute. The tatami rooms are really cute, but there's only 2, so quite limited. The table seating is casual. As a free appetizer, each person gets a small dish of marinated/pickled cucumber which was a good amount of sweet and savory and refreshing. I ordered the salmon Kama and a scallop nigiri and a salmon nigiri. The salmon came out hot and crispy, but most of the meat was a bit too cooked. Could've had a bit more salt and a bigger chunk of lemon to juice. I ended up having to dip my salmon into soy sauce for more flavor. The nigiri were yummy. They came pre-wasabi'd, but unevenly so haha. The salmon ones came with a teeny tiny bit of wasabi (perfect for me) but the scallop ones came with a way more wasabi (overpowering for me). Some consistency issues with the wasabi, but the fish itself was tender and fresh. Overall, very solid Japanese place. Establishment - plenty of tables and private rooms for larger parties that allow for more traditional seating (sitting on cushions with a low table). It doesn't give off a fancy or dressy atmosphere, but it also doesn't have a 'hole-in-the-wall' feeling to it either; very casual and quite comfy. To note, parking can be a bit tricky depending on when you go. I was able to find street parking but be aware of the signs in the parking lot of the restaurant as there's only a handful that are reserved for Ginza customers. Service - wait staff has always been very friendly every time I've visited. They never make you feel rushed and are always patient with answering questions about items on the menu or the daily specials. Overall quick and attentive. Also love the cucumber salad they serve you once you're seated; curves my hunger a bit every time. Food! I always get the combination dinner because I like having a variety of items in my meal. The most recent order I had was the sashimi and tempura combination dinner. The tempura is ne very soggy and was piping hot when I got my food, while the sashimi tasted fresh and the pieces were generously sized. This is one of many restaurants that is located near the Downtown Bellevue Park, which means the entire area's parking is quite rough getting around, whether you decide to park on the streets, at the park or in the very small parking lot that this place shares with a nearby antique store. Nevertheless, I loved my experience here with my group of four! There is ample seating inside, with at least two tatami rooms nearby and an area that looks like a sushi bar. Place is somewhat cramped but relatively clean, and my group of four didn't have to wait to be seated at around 6:30pm on a Friday night. I would come here before 7:30 or 8pm as a line can form for here, and for good reason! We got a variety of sushi dishes, including the mega rainbow roll, the dragon roll and the spider roll. For a main dish, I got the chicken katsu dinner. Every roll was extremely tasty in their own way, and my favorite ended up being the mega rainbow roll because of the variety of fish and seafood that was put on top of each roll. The sushi sizes were very big too, which I loved a lot! Chicken Katsu was a little dry but that didn't affect my dish. One of my friends got the chicken teriyaki dinner, and he felt the chicken was pretty dry. When I tasted it myself, I had the same thought. Ginza Plate with spicy tuna: I didn't like the assorted nigiri because some of the fish tasted slimy. The unagi nigiri was my favorite. After the Kraken game me & my buddy decided sushi was on the menu for dinner tonight. So we drove to his favorite place GINZA. We arrived at this boutique looking building where we parked. Since he called in for Reservations on the way we were greeted and shuffled to the sushi counter right away with zero wait. Now since my buddy was a regular we were greeted with smiles & high fives from the gentlemen with sushi bladed behind the counter. At this point the knifes began carving and sushi began to flow instantly. As the sushi hit our plates some to my enjoyment but 100% to his. My order consisted of ordering a few pieces of tako ( octopus ) and a CRUNCH roll plus teriyaki steak. All to my delight I chowed down with a big smile. Our family has been here a few times now. We have generally enjoyed the sushi, but there are a few items to consider. As others have said, I think there are other places that are better, especially with better service. Service: They feel very cold. You don't get a super warm reception - or a reception at all for that matter. And we are always happy/kind when we walk in, smiling and say hi when coming into the restaurant. Each time we've been here, we wait about 15 to 20 minutes before someone stops at our table but only after we ask them if we can get water or order appetizers. Every step of the way through the courses, we have had to ask for the server to come by. And during the meal, they never check back to see how the food is. Knowledge of their product: Maybe we had someone new recently but I was asking about the sake and they couldn't tell me the brand or if any other ones on the menu were unfiltered. I just selected one and thank goodness it tasted good. My 12-year-old daughter ordered the bento which had "an assortment" of nigiri sushi. They dropped it, literally in front of her and walked away. I had to stop them and ask what the assortment of sushi was. They couldn't tell me. They had to go back and ask. We love Sushi and want to know specifically what we are getting. Food: We had a Bellevue roll which the server recommended and the Ginza roll as well as Uni, yellowtail, ikura, and maguro nigiri sushi. My daughter had the bento. For an appetizer we had the fried oysters and edamame. The food was all good-- nice ( not thin) cuts of fish on the rice, tasted like it was fresh, had good flavor, etc. really loved the taste of the Bellevue roll. But our favorite was the Ginza roll with the rice paper wrap on the outside which I usually don't like, but this was really nice. Very rich. It's tough because we like the food here but really don't like the service. Again, it's just very cold and not super friendly. For years, we had gone to Ricki Ricki in Kirkland and then Flo in Bellevue. We were family at those places - they were super welcoming. But both of those have closed, so we have been trying to find a new sushi home and I don't think this is it yet unfortunately. We will keep searching. The food is great, but the wait staff and kitchen staff really need to do a better job when it comes to getting educating about allergies. The last few times I've come in, I've told them that I have a gluten allergy (celiac), and the wait staff always seems to not know what does and doesn't have gluten in it. It doesn't help that the menu doesn't clarify what does and doesn't have gluten in it. Yesterday, my waiter thought soy (like the soybean, miso paste, etc.) had gluten in it - which is not true. Soy sauce does, because wheat is an ingredient in most commercial soy sauces. Gluten is found in wheat, barley, and rye. It's not that complicated. This is a larger issue with restaurants where the staff doesn't speak English well - Ginza is not an exception, but it's still a disappointment that after coming to this restaurant for over a decade, they still make regular mistakes. Different waiters give different answers about whether a specific dish is gluten free. Two visits in a row, the kitchen has made a mistake when it comes to my gluten free orders, and food has had to be sent back. read more

Place is always packed! They have daily specials too. Plus, any restaurant that's been in Bellevue downtown, stood through Covid and still thriving is a must in my book. Love their daily specials too. It's only on their board by the entrance so you'll have to go in for it. Takeout takes about 30 minutes during dinner, same for dine in. Very cute place! This is definitely a great place for Japanese food if you have a craving for sushi ! Their pumpkin fried rice is to die for! The prices are reasonable and they give you big portions! I had the Yaki Udon, it came with a miso soup and the flavor of the Udon was fantastic! My husband had the Chicken Katsu, it was a huge portion and the finely shredded cabbage was very tasty! I've been to Ginza a few times and it's not too shabby. It's not my favorite Japanese spot, but it's far from being bad. The sushi is there for your fix, as well as their hot, classic items, like katsu, grilled fish and my personal favorite, the pumpkin fried rice. Normally when I go to Ginza, I come here for the pumpkin fried rice, which is a dish that comes baked in a pumpkin, with fried egg, bacon, onions, etc. It's a dish worth sharing if you order other items, but when I don't share, I usually make two meals out of it. In my most recent visit, my friend and I came right when it opened on a Friday night without a reservation and we were able to be seated. However, even right when it opened around 5pm, the place quickly filled. I would suggest making a reservation if you plan to visit. They also have a private room for groups where you sit on the floor, just like traditional Japanese dining. Street parking is usually easy to find. Whoever gave this place less than five stars is trippin. This is not your basic, typical sushi shop. So if you want to come here for rolls with cream cheese, don't. I'd say this is one of the better places I have tried in Bellevue. The menu has items you don't usually see from a sushi restaurant. The highlight of our meal was definitely the pumpkin fried rice. It was crunchy, sweet, savory. What else can you ask for??? It was big enough to share between 4/5 people. The hamachi Kama was good. Nothing special, but it's not bad. The sushi was very fresh and the pot stickers were wonderfully yummy. The pumpkin fried rice is a definite must try! Very yummy with all sorts of goodies I dined of it! All the fish was fresh and high quality. My favorite was the mackerel, the octopus, and the razor clam. I also like the black salmon eggs.
