Ginza Japanese Restaurant is located in a plaza off Collier and SR 54 in Land O Lakes and is one of my favorite go to spots for sushi in the Land O Lakes area. Ginza Japanese grill serves sushi, poke, hibachi, and typical Japanese dishes. The ambiance at Ginza is authentic Japanese style with dim lighting, a big 2 sided sushi bar, open dining area, authentic Japanese music playing softly in the background, and cozy nooks for a more private intimate experience. John's krab Volcano sushi roll comes with krab topping over a California sushi roll like a traditional regular volcano roll 9/10 Ginza's regular Volcano sushi roll comes with salmon topping over a California roll 7/10 but the traditional volcano features krab so make sure to order the krab roll if you want the traditional style. Mexican sushi roll comes with tempura shrimp and avocado and is one of my favorites 9/10 Gangnam style sushi roll 10/10 Red Dragon sushi roll comes with tuna and avocado topping over a spicy tuna roll 10/10 Omg sushi roll comes with shrimp and onion topping over krab and avocado. 9/10 Our Service was quick and friendly. Our server was attentive and it was quick to get our food and to close out our bill after eating. Ginza does not charge extra if you request spicy mayo and eel sauce on top of the sushi rolls but they do charge extra if you ask for it on the side, which seems to be on par for most other sushi joints in the area. Ginza is a large restaurant with plenty of seating. I've never had to wait to get seating because they were too busy. There is no need to call ahead for reservations. Went to lunch here for the first time with bff, and thoroughly enjoyed it, both company and meal! I ordered off the lunch menu, Udon noodle soup with Tempura veggies. There are sushi spots far and few between in this location so it's a good alternative to publix sushi. Sometimes they are open when they say they are and sometimes they are closed with no voicemail for over a week telling you that the place is closed. I didnt' find out until I drove 30 minutes to the location and say the we are closed for the week sign...a voicemail on the machine would have been a lot better. Lots of other cars and I were kind of staring at each other like..why are you closed on a random wednesday night? The ambiance is dim light and can be romantic or great for groups. read more

I wouldn't eat here as a first choice. They give you a stack of different paper menus that are nasty and the prices don't match what they charge you. The Server is the one making the sushi. My favorite little sushi restaurant in Land O Lakes! They're so accommodating and sweet. Great customer service! Once you place your order, they're quick to make your meal and have it served as soon as possible. We order take out quite often and they have the best easy sushi comfort food. It's more affordable than other sushi restaurants. It's a cute, cozy restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. My Mom and I enjoy grabbing lunch here as well. Although I am disappointed because I ordered Uber eats and they didn't have that roll available so I ordered one similar in price and called to swap it out for the steak roll and the lady said no that I should just order it on DoorDash after I already placed it on Uber eats. Summary: a good Japanese/Asian restaurant with something for everyone (it's a big menu)! I came here with my friend on a Thursday night! It wasn't packed but it wasn't full and wait times for the food were good even though they said it would take some time! The waiters were very nice and kept checking in on us to see if everything was fine! I found this to be one of the better sushi spots than many others I've tried (but haven't reviewed) in Tampa. Spice Tuna Tacos- these were great appetizers! Light & fresh tasting (a lot of sushi restaurants in tampa, I find, don't have very fresh tasting fish). The shells were thick and crispy (maybe too thick?) and the sauce it was covered in was lightly salted (probably soy) sweetened with some sugar! Only issue I have with it is that I really didn't taste or see any or very little cucumber. That would have made this very refreshing. 4/5 Nabeyaki Udon- this was a delicious soup! However, we were wishing there was more broth or less tempura bits in the soup because it took all the broth. The flavour was awesome and the udon was a nice thickness but I wish if were a little bit more elastic. Ithat elasticness would have given it a chewier Texture. The tempura bits were great (you also get a tempura sweet potato slice, which was not mentioned). Everything that was served with the soup tasted fresh and nice. 4/5 [Fire] Volcano Roll- it was my preferred of the two special rolls we ordered! My main complaint was that this was extremely saucy- to the point where you couldn't taste the fish. This would be great for non-sushi lovers, but not great for people who like the fresh taste of the fish. The broiled salmon was delicious with the sauce though. Otherwise, the the California roll was delicious. 4/5 Double Spicy Tuna Roll- it's literally double the tuna you would get in a regular roll. My complaint would be the same as the volcano roll, too much sauce and mayo on it! This would have been a great if it weren't drowned by the sauces and the cream cheese. 3/5 read more

This was my fiancé and I's favorite place to go. Not anymore. I asked for a to-go order of the skewered chicken teriyaki. (Since they took the menu from me and I didn't know the name. But I felt I described it exactly like it said) this was like $9 and some change. They made the hibachi $18 one instead. Like if there's 2 different chicken teriyaki meals, maybe give the menu back for clarification, cause I don't know the menu!! ‍ she refused to take it back and blamed me for it. Went with my best friend to this sushi restaurant for my birthday. We ordered crab rangoons as an appetizer- I would NOT recommend them at all they were cold, chewy and absolutely NO cream cheese. I told our server. She didn't care at all or was not willing to make it right. We did not eat them. We ordered sushi for it entree- sushi was ok- nothing impressive it worthy of bragging about. Yuck! Run! Ordered the Steak/scallop hibachi meal. First, it only came w 3 scallops. And of the 8 pieces of steak, 5 has huge gristle chunks! Yuck! So..I usually go to any restaurant 3 times before leaving a review. This place SUCKS! Each time my husband and I came we tried sushi and a hot plate. Each time sushi was warm but this time in particular I ordered sweet and spicy shrimp...the shrimp taste like plastic and the sauce like vinegar. I ate only the appetizer. The waitress asked what I wanted to do with the full plate of food. Told her I didn't want it and she gave me the receipt. My husband requested the manager & he sent someone over. My husband basically them that the food was not eaten because it was not quality. Lastly there was attitude but the dish was taken off and we will NEVER go back. This will be a much needed relief for sushi lovers that can't organize themselves ahead of time to make a reservation at Koizi. When Koizi first opened, I would rate it 5. I'm rating this 4, but this is not a negative review. Koizi portions were larger at the time of their opening. Ginza's portions are sufficient. Endless sushi and hibachi = love. I ordered the red dragon, dancing crab, hawaiian, and the fried/smoked salmon. The dancing crab was better from Ginza than what Koizi offers. The Hawaiian has pineapple in it and reminded me of a similar fruit-shrimp roll found in Ryuu (Brandon Mall). Service was fine, some of the waitresses are very friendly. At this place, you don't have an assigned server, so feel free to ask anyone. The sesame balls and the fried dough were YUM... ! read more

Stopped in for lunch buffet and discovered there was no buffet. Ok, there was. Confused? So was I. Been a while since I've been here. There is a new kind of buffet. After being seated you are given a menu on which you have to mark your buffet selections. There are some restrictions (you can only order the sashimi (6 pieces) once, you can only order up to 8 pieces of nigiri, and they charge you .50 per piece for uneaten sushi) but when compared to the old buffet I imagine this is to cut waste to keep their cost down. There is a little bit of a wait in between dishes but everything is made to order. Very impressed with the freshness of the food. I actually prefer this new system. The restaurant was inconsistent at best. I went for the lunch buffet. The food was actually pretty good. The food was tasty and fish was fresh. The sashimi was actually normal thickness. There were also a hot food selection. The problem was there isn't that many people that go for lunch so the food wasn't too fresh. Another problem is with how they served the sushi. They had four tongs for around 12 types of sushi. About half of them had sauce on them(spicy mayo , etc.) So all the tongs had sauce on them. When I grab a non sauce sushi, it got contaminated with the tongs. The selection was small. They only had the basics. They didn't have any mackerel or yellowtail. they should do made to order. The service was very warm and welcoming. They were very attentive. The atmosphere was very average. It needs some renovating in my perspective. The restaurant had very cheap laminate that was bubbling. The bathroom was clean but the decor and appearance seem dirty. The people that go there are just low. Some lady asked me about whether some dish was included in the buffet and then asked if I spoke English after I ignored her question. Apparently she assumed I worked at the restaurant despite the fact I was not in uniform and had a plate of food. They then exclaimed how "cosmopolitan" they are for using chopsticks. I guess that is just Land O' Lakes. Overall conclusion. Food is good but need improvement. I think it is a overpriced. $15 is pretty expensive for a weekday lunch buffet. If you live in the area, I would suggest trying it out. I imagine ordering a-la-carte would be decent. I would only suggest the lunch buffet if you are not too familiar with sushi or are a budget. I would recommend Kozi over this place for sushi buffet. read more

Well.. the sushi here is great! Super tasty and unique, but the price is extremely high and the quantity is very little. $13 for 5 pieces is not worth it, but it does taste good. Wanted sushi on a rainy Saturday night so I drove the 3 miles to get there. Simple decorated, clean and good lighting. The server was attentive and always checking on us. Icihiban beer was very cold.
