I read through the previous reviews and was a little apprehensive about coming here. Since it is a holiday weekend we were a little worried about long wait times for our group of 9 at other hibachi restaurants, so we decided to try it. We were seated right away and our drink orders were taken promptly. Everyone received their correct drinks. We ordered our food, a few sushi rolls, and crab rangoons. Before we received our appetizers we were served our soup. Halfway through our soup the appetizers came. The dragon roll and spicy salmon roll were delicious. Our main courses came out. The hibachi filet was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The veggies were tender. The fried rice was very tasty. Others in the group all enjoyed their entrees. The udon noodles, sesame chicken bento box and the house fried rice. Our server was great. He refilled all our drinks when necessary. He asked permission before he cleared the plates. Not sure what the bad reviews are about. My wife and I went there and a second time I took a good friend for his birthday. Service was prompt, friendly and the sushi was WONDERFUL. it was fresh, presentation was great. I agree the place was dead for business and often wonder why. I will go again, they are on the higher side of cost, but well worth it each time I have gone. I even ordered some to go from this location, again friendly fast and fresh. Love this place! read more

Have wanted to try this place for quite a while, we get coupons mailed to our house all of the time. My wife and I were out and about and figured we would give it a shot. I usually take a look at the menu before we go places, so I went to their website looked at the menu and we decided to give it a try. While on their website, I found a section called "Coupons". There was a 15% off any order coupon (the same one we get mailed all of the time). When we arrived, we were the only customers in the restaurant. We were immediately escorted to a table and on our way I asked if they would honor the 15% off coupon. The man told us they would only honor it if it were printed. That is where our experience took turn for the worst, We looked at him and said, "if that's the case, we will take our business else where". He did not even try to stop us. We were disappointed as their website, did not state this, plus there was not another soul in the place. In this day and age, with nearly everyone having smart phones, do not post a coupon on your own website if you don't want people to try to use it. Had there been fine print, that said "only valid if printed", I could have understood, but there was no such disclaimer. This is not how a business should be run. The fact is that they would have made money off of us, but chose not to, which is unfortunate because it looked like they needed the business. People do not think sushi in Champlin, MN. From what we could tell Ginza was not the caliber of an Origami or Nami. To increase business and compete with other suburban sushi restaurants I would suggest offering an all you can eat sushi menu like Kyoto or Akita, I bet there would be a line out the door, but get better staff, otherwise people will not come back. We will be going to Kyoto in Maple Grove if we want decent sushi in the burbs. Similar to another review, I am giving two stars instead of one, because we never were able to try the food. I feel like this place has an unjustifiably low rating. I've been there twice and had good service both times and good food. A lot of the bad reviews focus on the service of a male waiter. I think they're referring to the sushi chef. He's not a waiter, and it shows. He took our order because our waitress was busy. He tried to tell us that the bento didn't come with soup AND salad even though that's what the menu says. He kept trying to make us pick one. He eventually walked away after we pushed back on it. When our waitress came back, she gave us both without issue. Anyway, I won't judge the placed too harshly on the fact that he did not understanding the menu. This is my favorite restaurant for Japanese cuisine. The fish is fresh daily. The sushi rolls are beautifully crafted and delicious. There is a roll for seemingly every preference. My favorites are KissFire, SexyGirl, Dynamite, PinkLady, and BurningMan rolls. Hibachi and noodles are also very tasty. Authentic. Mouthwatering. The restaurant is family owned and operated. As is often the case when such is the circumstance, service is friendly and responsive. It is nice to be recognized and appreciated for your patronage. read more

I was incredibly disappointed in the service and the food. I was given the incorrect order so I called to see what should be done, all they said was sorry and if I wanted to come back and get it I could. I drove 15 minutes back to the restaurant, because I wanted the food I ordered, and was met with an I'm sorry. There was literally nothing done to make it right. My order was not re-made or even kept hot, it just sat on the hostess stand dying. Driving home I resolved myself to the fact that I would never spend money there again! After I opened my correct order I definitely discovered that I would never go there again. The sushi rolls were very small and just okay, I think I may have had better rolls for Cub Foods! The sesame chicken was dry and rubbery, the best part of the sesame chicken was the broccoli. The crab rangoon was not crab rangoon, just a cream cheese wonton. I wanted to try this place, so I ordered online for pick up. When I walked in (7:30pm) I was immediately asked by the man sitting at the table near the pu counter, how many? I stated I was there for pu and he pointed to the counter where there was a lady busy on the register. They then began speaking to each other in another language, which I find very rude. Not just a couple words but what appeared to be a full conversation about ?. IDK? After signing the receipt I just left, I didn't say TY because they didn't deserve it. They need to work on their customer service. Ok, I ordered the rainbow and philly with seaweed salad. The philly roll was just ok, nothing great but not horrible. The rainbow roll was better, it was pretty good. I finished eating about 8:45pm, leaving the seaweed salad for either later or tomorrow. Right about 9:35 pm, I started getting abdominal cramps, I was on the toilet by 9:45....I'm sure I don't need to explain what happened next. I was originally going to give 3 stars, BUT the toilet episode changed that. I don't usually get cramps when eating out, as a matter of fact it has been at least a year and I eat out a lot! read more

Good Hibachi steak and chicken. As far as the sushi goes... it was good, just good. A few selections tasted a bit bland to me lacking flavor but over all they were good. I have been a customer at ginza sushi for years now. Their employees are so sweet and humble. You can really tell that they care about their business and service. My favorite thing on the menu is definitely the snow mountain roll. I get it every time I go there. They also have really delicious onion soup, which is rich in flavor. 3 stars for food so far so good except the avocado salad (just lettuce and a little avocado) the reason for 2 stars is the service the kid helping us had an attitude and spent his time with his face in his phone. He was seriously acting like we bothered him, food was good when we wanted more we had to get up to get a menu yep kids face was in his phone couldn't bother looking up when we ordered we laughed because the chef was apparently sitting on the floor resting until a new order came in maybe? We won't be back because of the lack of service yes it wasn't busy but if you can't train your staff on no phones or no sitting then it's not worth our time. read more

We have been coming here, approximately three times a month, for a long time. The food here is decently priced, and I like their hibachi better than Osaka! We have always had average to below average service, the gentleman who usually serves us clearly does not want to be here. We have always been willing to put that aside for the "good food" aspect. Today, my opinion has changed. We were greeted kindly by one server. Immediately thereafter the specific "one man" whom everyone else has spoken of in their reviews, came over to our table. He said "we close at 10:30." I looked at my clock (I knew this) it read 9:57. He says "well we stop taking tables at 10". "You better order right now...or...." and continued to be the most rude server I have ever seen. I don't take negative reviews lightly, I know yelp and Facebook are harsh. I do not write these and feel good about it. And honestly, it doesn't suprise me this happened. The two women servers kept coming over and apologizing...they even gave us a free appetizer. They were kind and they always are. This may be an unfair review, because we love the food. We are service industry people, and I get that people coming in close to closing time sucks. But you close at a certain time for a reason, you're a business to make money, we always have a high tab, and we tip fat everytime. But I would make as many phone calls as it would take for this guy to lose his job. His negativity is constant and unfortunate for the business. They can do better, and he is clearly miserable... I likely won't be going there again. And I'm bummed about it. read more

I ordered take out through their online ordering system this evening and was impressed by the food. The fried rice was full of vegetables and the salmon sashimi was melt in your mouth delicious. However, they really need to work out the logistics of the restaurant. Servers were running around like chickens with their heads cut off and delivering incorrect orders to customers. The guest was sick of waiting so they decided to eat whatever it was they put in front of them anyway. I could hear people complaining around me and could tell some people had been waiting quite a while even for water. I actually got my take out order before someone who had been waiting for an hour for hers. I'm sure once they work out the kinks of running a new restaurant it will be worth five stars. I am in LOVE with this new sushi restaurant in champlin! The opened last week and I have already gone twice....alone...that proves how much I love it. So far I have tried the following rolls, listed in order of my favorite to my absolute MOST favorite (aka they were all good): sashimi roll, crazy roll, lobster roll, champlin roll and old man and the sea roll(wow that one was to DIE for). Well it was a good experience good atmosphere quiet and low lit. Food was good, I had hibachi steak and it came with fried rice which was really good and assortment of vegetables. Also came with a salad and onion soup. Now if I were to compare to Benihana, the salad here is much better then Benihana but the soup is lacking that is for sure. Very large portions and a great deal for the price. My wife had the shrimp and she enjoyed it as well. We got 2 sauces just like at Benihana same kind of set up a ginger sauce and shrimp sauce. The ginger sauce here is better then Benihana but the shrimp sauce needs some work in my book. All in all I would return again and venture around the menu some more!! read more

We get Ginza almost once a week! We always get House Special Hibachi Fried Rice! It taste just like Benihana or Wasabi but half the price and the taste is almost the same if not better. This is a small, family-owned & operated business and they work SO hard! Their hours are extremely convenient and they have a wide variety of food options, from cooked hibachi-style, to unique sushi rolls and a la carte options. They are excellent at making recommendations if you are undecided, as well as at following specific directions for special requests on your meal (ex: "No onions"). They also offer beer and wine when dining in, as well as delivery or take-out options for food orders. I highly recommend the Udon Stir-fry (noodles), the House Special Fried Rice (comes with Chicken, Steak AND Shrimp, the Kani Salad and ANYTHING sushi-related on the menu! read more

This place had probably the absolute worst customer service that I ever had. We waited 20 min to receive just our water and had to remind them to bring it to us. When we were ordering the phone rang and she went to pick it up instead of writing down our order. The food wasn't worth the price I paid. I just moved to Champlin recently and was excited to try this place but was disappointed. I took my sister here and while service was ok, the food...has work to do. I ordered steak yakisoba. What I got was basic Chinese lo mein noodles with too much grease and some steak bits. Anyone who has had traditional Japanese yakisoba knows the sauce is supposed to be sweet and brown. The noodles should be much thinner as well. This was literally just lo mein noodles with no special sauce. My sister ordered the chicken katsu bento box. While the chicken was made appropriately (albeit an incredibly small size), and they used the right sauce for the chicken, the rest was a mess. In the bento box were egg rolls and cream cheese wontons (neither of which are part of Japanese cuisine but whatever). Normally with any type of wonton or egg roll, restaurants will (and should) separate the roll/wonton from the sauce it comes with. For some unknown reason, the sauce was poured OVER the spring rolls and was presented that way. The wontons didn't come with any sauce at all either. The one thing both of us enjoyed was the green tea fried ice cream, although the ice cream itself tasted slightly off and lacking in green tea flavor. Overall, not impressed. I'd like to try again maybe but order something completely different. read more

Wow, WORST SERVICE EVER! I had to ask them 5 times for some water, waited at the table for 30 minutes before they even showed up to take an order. While the lady was taking the order the phone rang and guess what she did? She left us and went up to answer the phone.. after we ordered it took about thirty minutes for the appetizer to arrive and another 15 for the sushi to arrive. But that's not all, they forgot my rice. The food wasn't even good, my edamame was so over cooked it was falling apart when I tried to grab it. My fried rice was as dry as the dessert. Don't even get me started on the sushi. Never am I going back here again, wouldn't recommend you going there either. read more

The food is great, albeit a little pricey. Service is adequate. Our order is taken in a timely manner and the food arrives in a reasonable amount of time by a reasonably friendly server. The reason for only 3 stars is that once your food is served, you NEVER see your server again. If you need beverage refills, you have to get up and search for someone to help you.
