Horrible. Absolutely horrible. The only reason that I am even giving it two stars as opposed to the worst possible one star is only a direct result of the fact that the service was good. The pizza itself was absolutely atrocious. But, first, let me discuss the appetizer (cheese sticks). These were bland and tasted like they had been fried in day old oil. The thin crust pizza was the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten and we actually only ate two pieces before taking the rest home and throwing it away. The deep dish had the absolute worst crust imaginable. It almost tasted like a saltine cracker and a stale graham cracker mated. If that were possible, then it explains the lack of any type of taste and texture inadequacy that this pie had. Many other great locations (and one just 15 minutes away in Mokena). Save yourself the pain and go there because the expensive bill is so not worth it here. read more

Could have been much better. I ordered a personal size pizza for pickup and also a Tiramisu for later. When I arrived to pick up my pizza I was told it would be about 5 minutes until it was ready which was fine. While I was waiting I noticed at least 3 workers standing around talking to each other. In general this didn't bother me, but it lends itself to inattentiveness in my opinion. After 5 minutes I noticed no one of the 3 people standing around went back to check on carry-out orders. There were 3 other people who had arrived for carry-out orders and they were told even less time than me and yet even my order had not been brought out. After about 10 minutes one of them goes to the back and finally emerges with a couple of orders. After being given my order I felt like something was wrong, but I had been distracted by the wait time so I ignored it. About 5 minutes away from the restaurant I realized they forgot my Tiramisu. I'm generally understanding when things get forgotten, but when there are that many people standing around there is really no excuse in my mind. It also doesn't seem like there is any kind of system for indicating that carry-out orders are ready to be given to waiting customers. Unbelievable....took 1 hour to get our food. When we asked the waitress she told us we had to wait for the pizza 45 mins to 1 hr. The gentleman across from us asked about his food and she told him the worked didn't revolve around him. Went and found the manager who apparently didn't care how customers were talked to or treated. Finally got the pizza 1 hour and 10 mins later but never got our ticket and when we went to the counter she just handed us the receipt and walked away leaving us standing they needing a pen to sign cc. I decided to try this location again after being reached out to by the gm. I ordered my pizza for delivery and the eta was 7:15. I must admit I was very nervous about trying this again and had a back up plan just in case but my bell rang exactly at 7:15 promptly and the young man that delivered was cordial at the door. Kudos I am glad I gave it another chance. Still won't let my guard all the way down just yet but I had to give this update to let you all know about the complete turn around. read more

Let me start by saying that the management here is terrible! !! This was our third visit and our last. I ordered a pizza at 6:30 and was told it would be 35-55 minutes for a thin crust pizza. At 7:30 the pizza was still not ready and they requested we wait for another 15 minutes. Really!!! This is the third time that this has happened and the management doesn't seem to care that they are losing business. We will not be back. Giordano's is my favorite deep dish pizza of all time. Yummy! My family and I went to this new location on yesterday for my mother's 57th birthday. God has blessed her!! We had a party of 14. Upon entering the restaurant I asked the associate at the front if they had enough seating for 15 and he assured me they did. They did! We were seated in a timely fashion. After about 15 minutes, Matt(waiter) came over to take our orders. Unfortunately, our whole party hadn't arrived yet. But, he did tell us if we were ordering deep dish to place the pizza order because they take 45 - 50 minutes to cook. So, he put one of our orders in, then Devan(waitress) came to assist us. She was soo sweet. She was patient with us and we were patient with her. She took all of our orders. Since many of us ordered sodas, she suggested bringing us pitchers of soda instead of multiple glasses. We agreed. So, she took all of our orders and stated she would send the bartender over to take liquor orders. Soo, Matt(waiter) came back to take our dinner orders. We told him Devan(Waitress) already took them. We told him, we were waiting for the bartender. He said "that's me." We started laughing because they had poor Matt working double duty. So, as we waited for our pizza we noticed our area becoming a bit chilly. We requested the manager and she turned the heat back up for us. I asked her if they give a free piece of cake or anything for birthdays and she said they only do ice cream. That was great! So, the birthday girl had a double chocolate cake from Portillo's(I brought that in) and ice cream from Gio. We enjoyed our appetizers and pizza. It took a while for our table to be cleared and to get the check. But, we realized again that Matt was still working double duty. Oh! Devan's shift ended and we only had Matt. The pizza was good, the service was horrible. I received a 20% off coupon for this location and decided to give it a try. I am staying at the hotel across the street and figured delivery would not be a bad thing ( i was wrong). I paid and was told 30 to 40 minute wait for the food to be made (not a problem its a deep dish). Then i was told it would be delivered quickly to my hotel since i am across the street. Two and half hours later i called and was told it was on its way, at hour three the guy arrives. the pizza had congealed due to the grease from the cheese to the paper of the box, so now the bottom is ruined. I tried to use the cutter that was provided and it snapped cutting open my finger. I had high hopes for this place and what i was able to salvage was good but im sorry i cant wait that long and deal with the problems that come with this place. BY FAR THE WORTH EXPERIENCE EVER. Placed an order to go at 9:47pm. I was told it would be ready in 30mins. I got there at exactly 10:00 P.M. thinking I would only have to wait about another 10 or 15 mins for the pizza. Which expected the cashier said I have about 12mins left for my food to come out. So about 10:20 P.M. I'm still waiting so ask the cashier about my food she goes to check and comes back and says about another 5mins. Then I wait another 10mins and I ask her again. She goes to the back and comes back and tell me the same thing another 5mins. As it's about 10:45 P.M. I'm still waiting patiently and irritated because I ordered my food an hour ago I ask her again about my food as she begin to see my frustration she comes back and still no pizza and told I have to wait another 5min as I've been told that multiple times already. The cashier tells me she sorry and that she doesn't know why my food is taking to long. As I'm still waiting it's 11:00pm which is the time the store close and I was still waiting. I spent $30 bucks and waited for more than an hour there waiting for a medium pizza that was suppose be ready in 30 tops as I was told over the phone.(WHICH I STILL NEVER RECEIVED). At this point I felt I was more patient and understanding but the money I spent was not worth the time I waited. So I asked for a refund at 11:06 because my food was still not ready. The manager comes out to refund me and doesn't even acknowledge me nor give me any reason or explanation as to why my food was taking so long. Just does the exchange and tells the cashier that the refund is done Makes me wonder if they even were ever making my food.If you go here ask to clock in and work because your going to be spending your time with the employees waiting til after closing hours to get your food if it ever comes. We were traveling and thought we would get a pizza to go to continue our 6 hour trip. The pizza was to take 45-60 minutes. We thought we would sit down and eat a salad with drinks until our pizza was ready. Evidently, you can only have a table if you are eating pizza there. Spending $30.00 for enough salad and drinks for 6 people until our $33.00 pizza arrives for a total of 63.00 + tips is not worthy of a seat. So, I am standing and the other 5 minors are sitting at the side bar waiting for the pizza. It is 5:00. Only ONE table in the ENTIRE restaurant has anyone in it. I have been a patron of Giordanos my entire life, it being the only pizzeria that I will dine in and enjoy EVERY single time...until today. I came into the Matteson location for the first time expecting the same quality experience I have had since I was a child and it was literally flushed down the drain. The service was beyond disgraceful. The restaurant was half empty so me and my wife figured it'd be nice service considering the setting. We waited 15 minutes for water, we had dirty plates, 30 minutes for appetizers, and a waiter that couldn't remember details to our order... I was extremely disappointed in this establishment and even contemplated walking out, but I wanted to give it a chance since my wife had a bad day and really had a craving for it and we were already here for over an hour. We then finally got our food but vowed to never come back to this location again.. if corporate reads this please do something about it.. it's killing the reputation of my favorite pizzeria and my family's favorite as well and my wife is much more displeased than I am. Today was the Grand Opening of a 5day test...I too was alittle upset at first at how long it took for my order but after speaking with the manager, I totally understood. She was very apologetic and my pizza was really worth the wait. The best that I have had in a long time. Giordano's is a Chicago tradition, yes. I loved the place when I lived in Hyde Park. But, this new one in Matteson, IL looks great but ABSOLUTELY terrible service. On 4/11/15 my family of 4 came in - noticed that it was crowded (actually a big cluster f!$k) to be more accurate ...no hostess or organization at all. We waited 7 minutes to talk to the "order taker". After placing a simple order for a medium pizza and an order of wings (at 4pm) we were told to comeback to pick the order up at 6pm. TWO HOURS for 1 pizza and wings. They actually thought that we should hold our appetites and hunger for two hours...ridiculous and unprofessional. Please hire an entirely new crew because the people that are there are incompetent!!! We enjoyed the 30 minute wait and food at Pizza Hut down the street. Giordano's over the top - for just pizza, wings, etc. THUMBS DOWN - for now...hopefully they will correct their crew and service or suffer being in the red. read more

We tried this location for the first time tonight. It is really nice inside, and the staff was very friendly. Our waitress recommended the Bruschetta, which was the best we ever had. It looked and smelled amazing and tasted even better. We then had the stuffed spinach pizza which was awesome. The rest rooms were very nice and immaculate. I see negative reviews here and just thought I should leave a positive one. My family mostly orders for pick up. They have always been spot-on and on time. Very courteous staff. The times we have dined in we've had a great experience. The wait staff went out of there way to help my wife and I who obviously have our hands full with two little kids. Borderline FRAUDULENT. Order a Southside Italian beef with fries $9.25 and a piece of "Layer Cake" $6.25. Took an hour and a half to arrive. The cake is described on their website as "A big slice with vanilla ice cream and Ghirardelli chocolate sauce" LOLLLLLL... The ice cream came in one of those little cups you normally get a side of ranch in, the slice of cake was TINY. I really feel ripped off considering after delivery and tax it cost me $21.98 and then another 5$ i should NOT have given to the driver. I will never order from another Giordano's as long as i live and ill make sure to bring up my experience to anyone considering. read more

I had to call 4x's (6pm-7:30pm) to get through to oder for delivery for the Giordano's in Matteson, Illinois. The calling in service super sucks! If you're trying to eat at a decent time don't waste your time with this location. The telephone system doesn't indicate that business is open & that they're experiencing a heavy call volume. Once I was able to get through I had to get extremely persistent to speak with a manager. The manager was slightly abrupt but I was able to express my concerns. He did afterwards comp the meal, However he stated that since he doesn't ring on the registrar he would have to put me back on hold....I held for 35 more mins, someone finally picked up the call, she announced that they were closed & that my call had to be transferred. WHAT!! SO I WAITED ANOTHER 10 MINS. Long story short, when I was finally addressed after confirming my dish, I was told it would be another 1 hr for delivery. When the delivery arrived 1hr & 20 mins later, the delivery person was confused as to how I should pay ( he was not told the meal was comp) & to top it off he dropped the meal. thank goodness it was intact in a bag! Just when I felt nothing else could go wrong with this experience. .. the meal wasn't warm! & it wasn't what I ordered !! The broccoli was missing from the Fettuccine Chicken Alfredo. Where do I begin? I've been loyal to Giordano's since I was a child. My parents would always take us to the Cicero location and the food and service would be amazing! As an adult, I've visited different locations and always left with a pleasant experience. HOWEVER, today I visit the Matteson location (which is the closest location to me) and was terribly disappointed. This was my 5 year old's first time and I was sad that this was his first experience. There were only two tables occupied when we got there. Our order took over an hour to come out. The waitress was fussy and rude. She got upset when I asked for a kid's menu. She said "I already told you everything on it." I told her that I wanted to see prices and she said, "you could have just asked. " What's wrong with wanting a menu??? There were several unwarranted exchanges throughout the course of our visit. We will drive the extra 30 minutes to get to the Cicero location going forward. We will NEVER be back and will NEVER recommend this location. *on a brighter note: the guy who brought out our order was VERY friendly (hence the 1-star). We have ordered from Giordano's in Matteson Numerous times since it has opened and had very good experiences until last night. Ordered a pizza last night at 4:20 pm for pick up. Was told that it would be one hour until the pizza would be ready. Arrived at giordano's at 5:25. After waiting for 5 minutes, we were told that our pizza would be another 15 minutes. Finally at 5:50, our pizza still was not done. At this point many people had been in and out of the restaurant and gotten their pizzas, yet there was us, and two other people waiting for our pizzas for one and a half hours. When asking people who were coming in for pick up and receiving their pizzas how long ago they ordered, we received answers of 45 minutes to one hour. I hate to make this accusation, but everyone coming in and receiving their pizzas right away were of a certain race while those waiting for over 1.5 hours were of another. Maybe it is possibly just a coincidence, but if not this is a poor way to do business and I will no longer be bringing my business to Giordano's. From now on I will go to Beggar's. read more

I was very disappointed in my service this evening. After waiting 20 minutes for a server to even first come to my table I then waited over an hour for my food. I understand that my deep dish might take longer than 30 minutes to cook, but in that hour my waitress only came by once to ask if we were okay. That was it. This service was so poor the staff looked like chickens with their head cut off. Waiters didn't know table numbers and never carried a pen and paper to take our order. This was the worst service I have ever received and I recommend all to just order take out instead. My friends and I are all under 18 and they almost gave us alcohol because they don't know their tables. Ladaris is horrible. She asked us if we wanted water and we of course said yes because we didn't have anything to drink for 20 minutes and it took another twenty minutes. Keep in mind that the restaurant is not full whatsoever. Horrible horrible service. I only rated this one star because I have to, the service deserved much less than that. read more

Well I am familiar with the great taste of the pizzas at Giordano's so now that my town of Matteson has one I am quite happy. The reason for my low rating is due to the fact that this restaurant wasted my valuable time. I ordered online and paid and received email confirmation of my order. Pickup time was for 6:45 and I arrived at 7pm. The staff took my name and I stood and waited to get the pizza. 10 to 15 minutes later I'm still waiting. Then I hear my name and the staff comes to me and tells me that the manager informed him that one of the ingredients for my pizza is out and would I like to replace it...soooooo pizza was not even made! I just got refund and left. Within 40 minutes got delicious pizza from Beggars! I won't say I won't ever go back but I certainly won't order online. Why have such a set up that takes your name, email, and phone number yet they can't touch base with you in such cases where you should be contacted before coming to pick up what's not there. read more

Due to a job transfer, we moved to the area last year. Shortly after the relocation, we learned that a new Giordano's was opening in Matteson. We were excited to have one close by. But we quickly learned this location was nothing like the others. Since day 1 we've had problem after problem. First pizza ordered tasted like someone accidentally poured salt all over it. We chalked it up to it being a new restaurant. Waited and tried again. 2nd time trying ... was told pizza would take an hour. Two hours later, after coming back 3 times to see if the pizza was finally done, we ended up going to Beggars in Mokena. Since then I tried delivery (a few times) ... again, didn't work. I ordered the pizza online, was given a time it should be delivered, and EVERY time it was late. VERY late. I was told (more than once) that delivery wasn't a priority. That the people who were there staring them in the face was the priority. When I complained I was told they were short on delivery drivers. My response ... then why offer delivery? After this we've ordered a couple of times, picking up the pizza. And each time ... overcooked pizza, long wait times, and very poor customer service. Although, there was one girl (can't remember her name) who was very nice. I should also mention that with those delivery orders, the manager I spoke with (a guy) tried to be accommodating. He offered a free pizza for one delivery mishap, but by that time I had already had enough of Giordano's and the delivery excuses. Other times speaking with a manager (a female), she was of no help at all. In fact, she was the worst. Combative ... unapologetic ... just awful! So to sum it up ... no more Giordano's for us. If we ever get pizza from a Giordano's again, it won't be this location. read more
