I tried Lou's pizza again but this time ordering the hot honey pizza along with the classic Lou's. The flavours were still good with the hot honey adding a nice sweet-heat contrast that worked well with the rich, deep dish crust and the classic was consistent as always. The biggest issue was the wait. It took quite a long time for the food to come out even with ordering ahead. That made the experience feel a bit dragged out and took away from the overall enjoyment of the meal. read more

Consistency check in, this location is still great! I've ordered a few times since my last review and every order is fresh and cooked well. I know I know I've heard real Chicagoans don't eat deep dish they like tavern style. Well I'm not from here so I just like what's good & Lou has the deep dish on lock. Placed an order today, request onion on the side for my Caesar Salad, since I also ordered 2 Items of lasagna, they would not consider accommodating this request. I had an awesome experience. From the cheerful person I spoke to on the phone who confirmed my order to the very nice person at the counter, the service was top notch. Further, my pizza was cooked perfectly. It was SO cheesy and delicious! The store was also clean and had a good selection of items in the frozen case. I don't know if there has been a change in management/staff or something, but my experience was awesome and completely different than the reviews lead me to believe. So, if you have been here in the past and had a poor experience, I recommend giving it another try. read more

I can't speak to the Chicago debate regarding who has the best deep dish. This is my first time ever having a proper deep dish pizza. I have to say, Lou Malnati's deep dish was phenomenal. I love tomato sauce, sausage and doughy crusts and it was just perfection. The dough was just right - crunchy on the edges and fluffy everywhere else. Nothing chewy or tough at all. A lot of tomato sauce mixed with generous bits of sausage. It was just so good; I have no complaints. For comparison, we also tried their thin crust vegetarian pizza. While that was still really good, it felt more akin to other pizzas we had in the past. I really think their specialty is, rightfully so, the deep dish - it was just great. I am a novice when it comes to deep dish pizza appreciation, but I am oh-so-thankful that we started my education with Lou Malnati's. read more

I have reviewed this pizza before, but I forgot to say how wonderful the owner is and he is very personable, if you have any issues, he will take care of it, ( I have NEVER had any issues). I only hope this pizza place will stay in business because every time we go to get our order, there is a lot of noise coming from the place next door to his business and the parking lot is getting a little scary. This Flossmoor location is turning into one of those businesses that nickel and dime their patrons. I have been to the Flossmoor location a few times and I don't really care for them but it's the closest location. There's never anyone at the front desk when you come in and there isn't anything, like a bell or something, to let the staff know a customer entered the store. Due to this, I always end up waiting a few minutes hoping someone hears me calling out (I don't want to yell like a mad woman) or me knocking on the counter. The cashiers always seem to be annoyed that a customer came in and I don't care for that. This time I ordered online and gave them an extra 15 minutes to prepare the pizza. After waiting for the cashier to come to the front, the pizza still wasn't ready. I didn't mind because it was very hot. She got my salad out of the refrigerator, packed everything up, didn't offer any Parmesan cheese or red pepper flakes but whatev. I left, got to my car, then noticed I had only ONE dressing. Now onto what annoyed me...I went back in and advised the young lady I only had 1 dressing. She said, an extra dressing is $.55. Ummm excuse me, they always give you 2 dressings. She then told me they just started giving only 1 and additional dressings are $.55 each. I was annoyed so I walked out. This is why I'm stating Lou's is turning into one of those places that nickel and dime their patrons. I was just at the Orland Park location a month ago and received 2 salad dressing containers without a problem. They offer cheese and pepper flakes and there's always a cashier at the counter. Now I'm wondering if this is just a Flossmoor location thing or are all locations charging for 2 salad dressings????? I mean the Lou's salad is $8.95 and they don't feel the need to give you enough dressing to cover the whole salad. The pizza was hot and tasty. Fresh tomatoes and other veggies, so I cannot complain about the pizza. However, I'm over the customer service and now the nickel and dining...as if their food doesn't cost enough. read more

Lou Malnati's is definitely my favorite Chicago pizza place, especially for deep dish, but this location just doesn't stand up to the ones in the city or other suburbs. Usually I don't have any big issues, but this time I ordered the Malnati salad and the mushrooms were still covered in dirt. At first I thought it was just the brown underside of the mushroom, but then I found a few ends that still had dirt caked onto them. It was like they just didn't wash them at all. Especially in times like these, I worry about a restaurant that doesn't even wash produce that is visibly covered in dirt. Definitely try Lou Malnati's because it is the best, but don't go to this location to do it. read more

We have ordered here before. But it's been some time since we have. I came on here to grab the number to call in an order. I saw the reviews and it shocked me! My wife and I took a shot and ordered anyways hoping for the best! We ordered a large sausage deep dish and a medium pepperoni with half jalapeño. Called in at 3:30 pm was told 30-35 min. Showed up at 4:00 pm and walked right in and waited about 3 min for the pizzas to come out. No biggie. Got the pizzas in car and looked at them and they looked great and smelled amazing! Got home and they were even more delicious then they smelled. So all these bad reviews I can't say much about them. Pizzas were perfect and we will definitely come back and order again! The staff was very attentive as well when I ordered, they repeated everything I order and it was correct! Keep up the good work! read more

FLOSSMOOR LOCATION******* This evening I placed an order for a pizza online after I checked out I noticed that one of the ingredients for the pizza my family does not eat. I immediately called the store my order was placed at 6:21 PM. I was on the phone with the store at 6:24 PM after waiting for someone to pick up the phone. The woman at the store claimed that she was a manager and said that the pizza had already been made. It was a custom pizza that I ordered. I ordered a spinach mixed half pepperoni and in three minutes she said that the pizza was already made and in the oven. I told her that we didn't eat pepperoni and that I meant to click the sausage button and that that's why I was calling so quickly to get it changed. She reiterated that the pizza was already made and in the oven and that I would have to wait additional 35 minutes to for them to remake a new pizza. At that time I ask for a refund and she hung up the phone on me. She was on speaker and I have two of my own clients in my shop that heard her and all looked at the phone in disbelief. I also have it on video as I have a video in my shop as well. I called her back and professionally ask her why would she hang up on me and she stated that she thought the conversation was over after I requested a refund. I have ordered food many times from this restaurant but I could never go back there. This lady was totally rude and unprofessional. read more

I love Lou's, it's the best pizza anywhere. I order the Lou, plus pepperoni. The pizza really speaks for itself. The only problem I have is that it is never ready on time. Always at least 10 minutes or 15 minutes late. Sometimes over a half hour late. Other than that it's a five-star rating every time. read more

First sign of trouble was this was only a carry out location. Secondly while trying to decide we asked the staff and a man who appears to be the manager what kind if pizza is this? Said"I dont know. I cant tell from the photo. It appeared to be a company generated photo one of there pizzas. At that point we just felt uncomfortable with there negative tone and body language. So we quietly walked ouy. Didnt want to make a scene. We drove to another location near the airport off of Cineros street 30 minutes away. The server immediately identified it as The Malnati Chicago Classic at the second location we drove to. We ended up getting to experience a Chicago pizza after all. We would have been happy to get a take out order and eat in the truck. But again the negative vibe killed the experience here at the first location. This location doesn't know how to make or cook their signature dish...the Lou. For good pizza, the Lou, go to their Chicago location OR their Scottsdale AZ location. The kids cooking here don't know how to follow a recipe Nor do they even get the names straight on the order itself. Don't judge their normally excellent deep dish pizza by what is served by the Flossmoor location. read more

Barely any sauce on the deep dish pizza. How can you make a deep dish with barely any sauce??? When I opened the box, I could see mostly cheese. A deep dish is supposed to be saucy. Really disappointed with my pizza. Got the pizza for the family to enjoy since they've never had Lou's before and I happen to frequent the Lou's in the city and this is what we get. Love this pizza! One of the very best in Chicago. New to the neighborhood and all I can say that they did not disappoint. I had both the thin crust sausage and the deep dish Lou. They both were very good. The crust has lots of flavor. The Lou is seasoned very well and it has a garlic butter crust. Very nice and professional staff, even with an overflow of people coming in and out to pick up and order pizza. They are carry out only and they also deliver locally.
