Service and food are always great. Consistency is the name of the game. MB has many Italian options, but Gio's is one of my top picks

Shocked .. . that would be the word that comes to mind here. Went to dinner there tonight with 2 other family members ... I ordered the spaghetti Di Tornola... took a bite it was okay then had eaten a piece of lobster which had a very fishy taste.. the waitress came over and I told her about the taste and that I could not eat it... at this point I had shared one of my family members dishes... The server asked me if I wanted to speak to her manager and I said well what ever you thought was best... the server should have handled it... it should have been a no brainer ... take the dish away apologize and ask me if she can get me something else. Well none of that happened... in fact the manager came over to tell me that this is one of their best dishes that they make .. I said I am sure it is delicious but the piece of lobster that I ate was fishy and she continued to defend the dish. I told her do what you want you don't have to take it off the bill but the right thing to do would be ... so she said she would give me a discount and would call the other manager who is her superior that she is only the assistant manager so I said well wouldn't you be the one making decisions. She gave me an eight dollar discount and I told her to not even bother that they are a disgrace to treat people that way. The server gave me a piece of paper and asked me to write down my number I said for what.. damage is done. Won't ever go back there again. BEWARE... TOO MANY GREAT RESTAURANTS TO DEAL WITH PEOPLE WHO TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS LIKE THAT.... THIS WAS OVER A $37.00 DISH THAT COST THEM ABOUT $4.50 TO MAKE. SHAME ON YOU GIO ITALIAN KITCHEN.... BUT I MADE SURE THE SERVER GOT A GOOD TIP. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A NEGATIVE STAR THEY DIDN'T DESERVE THE ONE STAR. read more

Food and drinks at Gio's were so amazing! Service was top notch! This was the best meal I've had during my visit to South Carolina. My partner and I drove out to Myrtle Beach and discovered Gio's. We had the mussels in red sauce and burrata caprese for appetizers. For dinner he had the scallops and shrimp vino Bianco pasta and I had Renato's favorite. Both were excellent! My boyfriend loves fettuccine Alfredo and wanted me to not finish my meal so he could eat it as leftovers. I highly recommend this restaurant. From the moment we walked in and smelled the delicious aroma of marinara sauce, I knew this was going to be GOOOOOD. We did not have a reservation but the wait was only about 15 minutes. So. Our server, Casey, was nice and so absolutely amazing at dealing with my lemon allergy. If she didn't know, she said she'd ask the kitchen about ingredient- made me feel cared about! And the FOOOOOD!!! The Gorgonzola salad was huge and totally delicious! Really fresh and not your ordinary salad! with shallots and cranberries and that awesome Appalachian Gorgonzola cheese, it was heavenly. I ordered the Quattro Formaggio Purse style ravioli!!!! it was VERY good, with fresh basil and a delicious marinara sauce! PERFECT! the bread was hot and tasty, served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar- We were so full we couldn't eat dessert, so we ordered it to go! New York style cheesecake, my favorite! I just tasted it so I could tell you how YUMMY it is! Definitely my favorite Italian place since I got here, maybe my favorite restaurant out of them all! This was one of our favorite Italian restaurants but this visit was not as good. The food was very good as usual, but the service was terrible. We received water and drinks, but did not get any bread or salads for just over an hour! My wife went and found our server to request them. Then we didn't get our dinners for almost another hour! 2 hours before our dinners came, that's ridiculous as it was not crowded, many tables were empty. And the sad part was that NO ONE ever acknowledged the poor service! The waitress never came by and said they were busy or short staffed or food would be out soon. Never mentioned it upon bringing our check either. We also never saw a manager or anyone that appeared to be in charge. Not likely to return... read more

Really enjoyed our meal tonight! Everyone there was very polite and the waiter was awesome! We skipped the appetizer, the bread was so good and loved the olive oil with the Gios written in it! The Lasagna was amazing! The red sauce and herbs were fresh and delicious, the veal melted in my mouth! My husband had the fettuccine and it was also fresh and delish! Our server was really nice. He forgot a few things but no big deal. Took 25 min to get our drinks. Old fashioned was shaken not stirred with chunks of orange floating. Asked for beer instead, took a long time to get my first and second round. Salad was very good. Soup was cold. Spaghetti and chicken linguini were both delicious. Just ate at Gios last night with my wife and it was superb! From the first taste it was obvious to both of us that the sauce and pasta are made fresh and not purchased like so many "Italian" restaurants. Having eaten many a meal in Italy (northern and southern) and having a similarly awesome dining experience in New York's "Little Italy", I can say with reasonable authority that Gios cuisine is truly authentic...and fairly priced. I was surprised to see Gios open this second location with all of the COVID-19 conditions affecting restaurant dining. I know this must be a huge challenge and requires a leap of faith and confidence in one's product, a confidence I say is well earned. I would also be remiss if I didn't compliment the service. It was just as one would expect in a restaurant that covers it's tables in white table cloths and where customers are provided quality cutlery and cloth napkins. First of all I would like to say the food was delicious and deserves a 5 star, the service not so great , good but not great but then again we were not in any hurry. 4 of us visited Gio's during the 2022 Holiday season and every one of the entree's we ordered was absolutely great, I had to stop my wife from licking her plate it was that good but embarrassing! All 4 of us left Gio's fatter, dumber and full but I can't wait to do it again. I would also like to point out that I felt the pricing was more than fair for the quality of the entrees and the good time we had! Food is incredible. Calamari is a must try with a tangy sauce. If you like salad, the blue cheese dressing is wonderful. We tried both the vodka sauce and the Alfredo sauce. The vodka sauce was our favorite but both were very good. read more

My mom and I were in myrtle beach for one night and we stopped in this gem. We had a martini at the bar before grabbing dinner. The place was packed. Alex made the best apple martini. Every single thing on the menu looked to die for and I ended up getting the broccolini and pancetta. Superb! This place hit it out of the park. For a tourist destination, and knowing we were tourists the owners and staff treated us like long time customers. I will definitely be going back next time I'm in town. read more

Had dinner last tonight at Gios. They brought our entree before our salads and then asked did we want them to go. We had to beg for drink refills. Hostess encouraged our party to sit at a table in the bar area. The bar tenders were WAY to busy to wait on the bar and the tables. He was so busy he forgot to ring in one of our dinners. (Not his fault they are too busy to wait on the bar tables, that's a management issue). The manager did come over and apologize for the subpar service and mishaps. Kudos to her for that and adjusting our check, however 15% will not get these locals back as bad as the service and mishaps were. Manager too busy doing other jobs and not able to do hers. Guessing labor issues as everyone is experiencing this still. The food was GREAT even with their B DHEC rating. read more

Gee, I feel terrible, I must have picked a BAD NIGHT!. I'm traveling for work and eat out alone at least 3 or 4 nights a week. I've always been treated very well by restaurant owners and their staff. My Mother owned a restaurant when I was growing up, I understand how tough being a server can be, I tip well and really enjoy the quiet dinners I have -when I am away from my family. I've wanted to try Gios since I was in the area last June. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I arrived at 5:10 pm on Thursday. The place was not crowded. The young lady that was the hostess ignored me until I asked if she could seat me. She asked if I had a reservation, I told her I did not, then she asked where the rest of my party was. I told her I was eating alone. She "instructed" me to sit at the bar. I said NO thank you, I do not feel like sitting at the bar, please find me a table. She then slowly took me to a table in the bar. Which I was actually ok with. The bartender came about 10 mins later, (there was not more than 3 people sitting at the bar). I ordered a glass of wine and told him I was ready to order. Lasagna and an ICEBERG lettuce salad with blue cheese dressing and added if it's NOT all iceberg, I'll have the optional cup of soup instead. 45 mins later, he brought the salad, ROMAINE with Italian dressing, I reminded him I ordered Iceberg lettuce, with, Blue Cheese, he quickly took it back and about 10 mins later brought a romaine and spinach salad, again with Italian dressing. I should have left them, but I sent it back and asked for soup. The soup was ok, nothing exciting, but ok.. I'm patient but at 10 til 7 I really was getting frustrated, I got the bartender attention and asked when I would get my dinner. He very nicely explained to me that they only cook one tables order at a time. I ordered about 5:30, BUT he didn't turn it in until after my soup, which took almost an hour! At this rate, I'm amused as much as disturbed and HUNGRY! Thinking I should have gone to Ciao's Italian Restaurant, at almost 7:15 I finally got my lasagna. One bite and I hate to say at the least - very disappointed. I should have asked to speak to the manager, but by then, I thought why bother. SO here it is folks, it was a really bad night for me. The other reviews seem to say it was GOOD. But I will be hard pressed to give them a second chance. SUMMARY: Dinner for one - arrival time 5:10 pm departure time 7:30. My only positive comments, the bread was good, and thank goodness I had a glass of wine! From now on I'm going to Ciaos. read more
