Right of the bat, the ambiance outside is not my jam. lol you know me- crowds and congestion are not my fav Things unless I'm at a football game. As soon as we arrived, we waited for about 5 minutes to be seated and was offered a high chair or booster seat as soon as we sat down. I ordered the Pasta Primavera that came with a piece of garlic bread and a glass of their Red blend. The Primavera was sooo delish! It was served with anchovies, challots and their house made creamy sauce. It paired soo well with the glass of wine I ordered. The waitress who served us gave me a few extra pieces of Garlic bread because my food order wasn't submitted to include the garlic bread. She was so nice and helpful. I hope to visit this spot again the next time I'm in Waikiki and highly recommend Giovanni Pastrami's! read more

Been wanting to try this place as I love pastrami and drive by the place often. Went in on a Sunday shortly after opening so it was not busy. Ordered a pastrami and a coke at the bar. With pastrami in the name of the business my expectation was high. Sadly, it was a gigantic miss. Took like 20 minutes and the pastrami was tough and nearly inedible. If I was not so hungry I would have left it unfinished. Bread was also off. Was not fresh whatsoever. There was a girl next to me that had ordered apple pie with vanilla ice cream like 30 minutes prior and I heard her have to remind the bartender about her dessert. Hate making negative reviews like this although hopefully management will see this and step up their game. read more

This was by far the worst restaurant experience we had during our 9 day stay in Waikiki. We've eaten at more than a dozen places during our trip, including small mom and pop spots and hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and every one of them felt cleaner and more enjoyable than this place. I made a reservation for dinner, and we were seated right away, which wasn't surprising considering how many empty booths there were. The first thing we noticed was how filthy the menus were. They had food stuck to them and stains all over them. It was honestly disgusting just touching them. We ordered alcoholic drinks for the adults, pasta dishes for the kids, a simple salad, and a medium pizza. The drinks took about 10 minutes to arrive. After 25 minutes, we still hadn't received any food, not even the kids pasta dishes. I finally asked our waitress if she could check on our order. She looked at me with a surprised, almost annoyed expression and responded, "Ok... let me check." Shortly after I said something, the food finally started coming out. Both pasta dishes were lukewarm, which made it seem like they had been sitting in the kitchen for a while. The pizza didn't arrive until another five minutes later. Unfortunately, the service and cleanliness weren't even the end of it. Later that night, both my wife and I developed diarrhea. We obviously can't say for certain what caused it, but this was the meal we both shared before getting sick, which made the experience even more concerning. We had such a beautiful vacation in Waikiki, and unfortunately, this meal stands out as the worst part of the entire trip. Very average food, but a great place for a beer. Good spot to watch games.... They have multi screens all over the restaurant. Lots of tourists because it's in Waikiki on Beachwalk. I came here years ago when they first opened I remember it being pretty good. Came back a few weeks ago while in the area. We ordered the cauliflower as an appetizer, apologies for forgetting the picture but it was so good! I want to go back to order just that! My honey and I wandered in on a leisurely walk through waikiki to catch some play off basketball and were promptly seated at the bar. The portion sizes were good and the food fresh, although the menu was wayyyyy extensive (not sure if that's actually a bad thing, as we're indecisive). That being said, there's something for everyone on the menu, and we'd definitely bring family and friends back for a cold beer and good service. We've dined here a few times during our stay in Waikiki. The restaurant is quite large and clean and the staff have always been friendly and knowledgeable. We've tried the breakfast once and it was okay. Not a memorable experience for the palate but it got the job done. My children are small and they were still hungry after they finished their $11 kids breakfast meal. Portions are far from generous for a kids meal. I liked their pizza the most which seems to be the consensus for this place. So I'd recommend the pizza. It advertises dough rolled fresh daily, never frozen so that's a plus although the prices are high(to be expected). read more

STAY AWAY - Horrible Service/Food We made early reservations 5:15p and the hostess sat us in the bar. We wanted to sit in the dining room not the bar and she gave us same lame excuse that they were doing a shift change and could not sit in the dining room. The bar smelled like old alcohol drains and have not been cleaned in years. Once our food arrived my pastrami sandwich was super dry and had to flag another server down for some deli mustard. Our other sandwich had stale bread and hardly any turkey that was dry and failed to have avocado that was on the menu. Would never return to this place. Our food came out quick, fresh, and hot, especially impressive with such a large party. The GM, Laurie, was the sweetest! She gave all of us mama's beautiful roses for Mother's Day, which was such a thoughtful touch. She also gave my mom a few special treats made by the manager/chef Marissa herself... but of course the keiki spotted them right away and had to have some Overall, we had such an amazing first experience there, and we'll definitely be back. Out for a Saturday morning stroll in Waikiki, we were craving a good Bloody Mary and headed to a familiar favorite. I was excited to see they offer four different Bloody Mary options and went with the Pigskin Special, loaded with thick-cut bacon, celery, olives, and extra pickle juice. It did not disappoint. Although we did not eat this time, we had a great seat and saw pizzas, wings, local plate lunches, and deli-style dishes flying out of the kitchen, everything looked solid. The place was pretty full, and our server was also bartending, but she was awesome, kept checking on us, and provided great service. Giovanni Pastrami is great for locals and visitors alike. I asked if the bread was toasted, and the waiter said it was grilled. Then they brought the sandwich with the worst bread possible. The pastrami tasted canned or pre-made, nothing close to real New York pastrami. Same with the burger, the patty tasted pre-made and low quality. First off, the hostess is very friendly and will offer recommendations. Don't blow her off, she's the real deal. We were seated promptly and the menu is extensive. There is a bar area up the stairs with multiple tv's. The seating is comfortable and the staff is superb. I'm not sure why the 1 and 2 star reviews were given, but I'm glad we ignored them and came here for lunch. My SIL had the patty melt with macaroni salad. The Mac salad is very mayo based, so if you don't like that, then don't order it. She ordered it medium well, but it did come out between medium rare and medium. She said it was delicious also. My BIL had the spaghetti bolognese which he said was good, but the bolognese was a little too thick for him, as he likes it like marinara. I told him he should've gotten the marinara as the bolognese looked fantastic. My wife got the sky high turkey with onion rings and Russian Dressing on the side. She said the sandwich was excellent with the exception of the toasted bread was a little state. Next time, she'll order it with grilled bread. I got the GP Dip which when it initially arrived, I thought it was lacking some on the amount of meat. I was wrong. There was plenty of meat, the au jus was outstanding and the horseradish aioli was spot on. Overall, it was an excellent sandwich and I would definitely order it again. I did order the onion rings and found that the Russian dressing makes an excellent dip for the onion rings. They definitely don't short you on the rings, which is very nice.
