Today being pi Day we felt we should celebrate by eating a pizza pie. We happened to arrive about 10 minutes before they actually opened, but they took our order anyway. I ordered the Hawaiian pizza with the bacon extra crispy and my husband ordered a pepperoni calzone. The wait time was average. It took about 15 minutes for them to cook our food. The calzone my husband ordered was huge. They serve the sauce on the side here. I prefer my sauce inside the calzone which is why I ordered pizza. However, they put a lot of pepperoni and cheese inside of his calzone. My pizza was also a huge. It said it was 12 inches but it seemed more like 14. The crust was cooked perfectly and had just the right amount of Crispiness. There was a good amount of pineapple and ham and bacon on top. My only complaint would be that the bacon wasn't crispy enough but I like my bacon really crispy. Still, it was delicious! I would definitely order it again. The staff was very friendly and offered to turn up the heat for us as it was a bit chilly. They also offered us ice and cups for our drinks and checked on us once while we were eating. This is a very casual place with ample seating. They have a cooler with drinks and a variety of chips to choose from. They also had many different items on their menu. I was shocked to see a 2.5 star rating. Giovanni's is a solid go to for pizza delivery. Their sauce is slightly sweet, toppings are fresh, and wings are tasty. I haven't had their sandwiches delivered, but at the shop I happily ate it all. This isn't gourmet or craft pizza, but it's good. Order local and non chain and you won't be disappointed. read more

Been going here for a long time and, not that there aren't other good pizza restaurants in the area, but these guys are my favorite for more reasons every time; I was struck by the delicious thin slices of sausage they have at first, ( great flavor, less guilt !). Tonight I got confused with another menu from a Giovanni's in CT, but they came up with Genoa salami when I asked for it, and it's not even on their menu ! I asked for a certain kind of salad, and they offered such a great sounding alternative I couldn't refuse, and that was the right call - then, they deliver from farther away than any other place, and even after they were closed !? I give two stars ONLY due to the fact the food is good. Again, the ONLY reason. Tonight at 5:21 p.m i had a ONE HOUR wait for my order. When the delivery driver arrived HALF of my order was missing. He SHOWED me the receipt, acknowledged the fact half of my order was missing, and advised me to call the restaurant. Things only get better. The phone girl was extremely adamant that I DID NOT order what I claimed. I continued to tell her that her OWN DRIVER brought to my attention that half of the order was missing. After an extended back & forth she finally admitted she was wrong and that my order would be completed and sent out "immediately". This is at 6:30 now mind you. At 7:15 I called back again to inquire where my remaining order was. The phone girl slammed the phone down and I could hear her complaining about how I WAS DISRESPECTFUL & rude to HER. I was then told my completed order was "on the way". TEN minutes later, TWO HOURS from my original order, the second delivery driver apparently arrived and LEFT MY ORDER ON THE PORCH. Where it sat while we continued to wait for it to arrive. This restaurant has HORRIBLE customer service, inattentive and incompetent delivery drivers, and management that treats paying customers as a burden when they inquire about their PAID orders. Tonight I called into one of our usual takeout restaurants that myself and my family have frequented for years. I ordered a cheeseburger, Mayo, ketchup and raw onions for pickup. Server asked "do you want fries?", I replied "No, I'd like onion rings". They said "ok, no fries, onion rings". It's obvious the server on the phone is training someone new as they were holding a conversation during my order. I had to repeat my cheeseburger topping order a few times as they were still talking and not really focusing on my order. They tell me total $9 and change. I told them pick up as Gerry was going by and would get it for me. He goes in, pays, comes home. I open the bag, which looks awfully small, and see just a cheeseburger. I ask " where are the onion rings?". I call the establishment, explain the situation and the owner said something like " it was mistake, I bring you them now", then I'm passed off to a salty woman, not the two giggling women I gave the my order to. This woman said " my boss told me to get your address and he will send onion rings to your house. What's your card number?"....what? I already gave you my card number when I paid for my order which was cheeseburger and onion rings. The woman says " well they made a mistake, they didn't put your entire order in, I'm not sending you free food" My entire order? Sounds like I was feeding the masses instead of " just a cheeseburger and onion rings "....yes, the mistake was theirs, not mine. As a long time customer, the right thing to do is to just bring the onion rings to the house with a " sorry about that", but instead we are passed back and forth from the man to the woman, the woman even asked for our phone numbers to check how many times we had ordered from them. Can you believe this? Is this how you treat long time, loyal customers? Even during Covid we ordered from them! The customer should not be berated over a mistake made by their staff. Too bad we really liked their food, my mom had liked it there too and I just told my brother and his family to try it. Well, not anymore, my opinion has changed and I will share my experience with friends, family and coworkers at the hospital. I ask you, wouldn't it have just been easier to send the onion rings that you forgot than to lose customers ? read more

I love Giovanni's. I order lunch there at least 2x a week! The food is always fresh and delicious. The grinders are great, the Pizza's are the best in the area, and i love the salads! I never had an issue with any staff, in fact they are very friendly! The hot wings are awesome! I will continue to be a customer as long as I live here. I stopped in recently on a trip back to New England and grabbed a grinder. To be honest, it must have been one of those "better than I remember" moments because while it was acceptable, it didn't have the glorious feeling of this being a one-of-a-kind spot that I remember it to be when I was growing up...of course back then they were still down by the rotary near Bess Eaton donuts across from "The Ground Round" (anybody remember that?). They've been in the current location since at least 2002 which was the last time I stopped in for a bite. Back then it was an amazing grinder. It seems they changed ownership as I read in a previous review. The service was acceptable and curt is how I would put it. None of the overly friendly "you are the only person on the planet" service but, more along the lines of "we said hello, now what do you want to eat" type of service. I am not saying this is bad and really, that should be all we expect at any establishment that serves food...I mean I really don't feel like divulging my plans for the day or what I was doing before I came in which is what we get at other places. I got the italian grinder and it was served on hot bread toasted in the pizza oven. It hit the spot after a trek through rush hour traffic on the I-95 corridor. While it was filling it didn't leave me feeling like I had just had the best grinder on the planet. Passable for a bite now and then but, not an eating destination. In the end, I will keep my fond memories of Giovanni's as just that - fond memories. The food was good but, not of the "too die for" variety. read more

I grew up eating here and it used to be good when I was younger. This place is beyond disgusting now and I would never eat here again. Not only is the food here not fresh and tastes horrible but what really turned me off was when I ordered a take out order for my aunt and grandmother I went to pick it up for them and as I was standing there waiting for the food I saw the waitress in the back drop food on the floor and picked it up and put it in the container to go for someone else. I was horrified and grossed out..I said something to the owner and he did not care. He was rude and tried to tell me that I didn't see that happen. This place is dirty and rude service. read more

I have always wanted to start my own website/review site for those who reside around me and share my personal experience with places I visit or receive service from. I received my delivery order from Giovannis Pizza tonight and was disappointed. Cauliflower appetizer was a HUGE disappointment as it is too breaded (more tan likely something from a restaurant depot supplier frozen food box). I enjoy a good fried pickle and was let down with theirs's (so far, Hangar Pub has the best and that's over Texas Roadhouse and many others). I also ordered a large combo pizza which looks like it has been sloshed around in the back seat of a car. Taste is ....O.K. we discovered we could order pizza delivery while visiting a local brewery. I checked online and found I could order that way. a few snafus but managed to place an order. There was some confusion, so they did call to verify address...guess the driver couldn't find us? Pizza arrived HOT! even after the delay. The delivery guy was awesome!! bright, friendly, apologized for delay...And the pizza...heavy on the garlic but such good flavor......fresh taste, and full. (hate when you get a skimpy pizza). Pizza is very good. This is our "go to" for pizza at least once a month. We usually get the party size which gives us plenty of leftovers. We usually do take out and they always give an accurate time. Service has been friendly. The place is clean but could use a little updating. I ordered delivery, paid by card. They gave me the wrong order. I called and the owner got on the phone yelling at me saying it was the correct order and that I must have ordered the wrong thing. He wouldn't let me speak as he just kept raising his voice yelling at me. Someone else got on the phone and said they would refund my card. The Refund was never processed so I disputed the charge with the card company. Giovanni's still declined to reimburse. The owner is extremely rude and just a horrible person altogether. I've heard similar stories about the owners and many have stopped going here... myself and family included. read more

Had lunch there today. We are about a block away from them. Our food was cold, wrong, covered in some type of cheese wiz on potato skins, the wrong quesadila, supposed to be cheese had meat on it. The girls working at the front counter always serves with a smile and no matter how busy it gets they always look collected. And when i can not make a decision over their large selections of food on their menu they know whats best !! Hahha although everything is so DAYUM good anyways!!! Their prices are decent and it pays off with the amount of food you get!! The phones are always ringing off the hook. Well no wonder!! Fresh onions, peppers, mushroom, tomatoes i mean nothing wrong with that!! Fresh veggies on your pizza and grinders?? I also know they dont accept to serve undercooked food. Like medium-well burgers etc. Like the guy complaining about microwaving his chicken. I know they deep fry it but to properly cook the inside they must microwave so the inside gets cooked too. The 500 degree oven will just dry it out. Its delicious!! They know how to make fresh food yummy!! Cream of broccoli, cream of spinich, beef veggie, cream of red pepper, french onion and clam chowder and more ... In the winter time they make fresh cream soups !! There is also plenty of room for a party in the dining room with a tv to enjoy your meals like home!!
